Shaleen needs our book help! Ohhhhh this sounds like the mother-in-law from hell! LOL!! Wow… that poor new wife. And now I TOO, am so curious about this one!!
She asks:
Hi, I am a huge fan of your blog. I make sure to check it before good reads lol.
I am looking for a book, it’s about an older man who marries a younger girl, his mother does not like her because she liked his first wife.
From what I remember the first wife was having an affair that he knew about and she died in a lake, the H thought it was his fault and kept this from his new wife.
Also, the mother in law makes the h think the H ex wife is haunting her, like she sprays her perfume around the house etc.
I do remember a saying from the book:
‘What we keep in memory, we keep forever’.
I have been looking for this book for ages, i have seen it in your recommendations years ago but can’t seem to find it now.
Please help me if you can.
Thank you. I love your work.
UPDATE!! Shaleen remembered a bit more for us:
The ex wife was a bit of an alcoholic, she had a different place on the premises where she had her affairs as wellβ¦ I would class this book under romantic thriller. I donβt know if this helps but itβs been driving me crazy lolππ
THANK YOU so much Shaleen for your sweet message!!! It made my day, and I’m so glad you’re with us!!! π
Any guesses?
AC18: Sounds similar to Verity by Colleen Hoover
Liza: Rebecca
Shaleen: Thanks guysβ¦ i read verity, but unfortunately itβs not that one. Itβs a bit like a modern day Rebecca, probably a modern day retelling. The author is not so popular but she did a really good job with that book.

Kate: Is it βHis wifeβ by Ashley Hastings?
Shaleen: Yes!!! Finally!! Thank you so much. πThis is definitely the book.
Maryse: YAY!!! Another one solved, and another one for the TBR list! π Thanks everyone, and thank YOU Kate!!
