Jennifer has a question, and IMMEDIATELY I knew which book she was asking about. Not ’cause I’ve read it yet… NOPE.
But because that blurb HAD ME GOOOOOOD!! I must read this. Have you read this?
Jennifer asks:
I am looking for a book about a young king who apparently keeps taking new wives but for some reason they are all killed before sunrise. A girl volunteers to be his wife with the intention of killing him for murdering his best friend.
Got it!!! I know it!! I know which one!!! π
The Wrath and the DawnΒ byΒ RenΓ©e AhdiehΒ <— It’s this one!! Am I right?? π
All of the “Michelles”, Fabi, bev and Tessa (andΒ fantasyish historical fiction-loving crew). I KNOW some of y’all have either read this one, or want to. I know it. Sounds totally up your alley. But thing is… it sounds totally up mine, too!
The blurb? THIS!!!!! *gasp*!!!!!
Every dawn brings horror to a different family in a land ruled by a killer. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when sixteen-year-old Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. But she does so with a clever plan to stay alive and exact revenge on the Caliph for the murder of her best friend and countless other girls. Shaziβs wit and will, indeed, get her through to the dawn that no others have seen, but with a catch . . . sheβs falling in love with the very boy who killed her dearest friend.
She discovers that the murderous boy-king is not all that he seems and neither are the deaths of so many girls. Shazi is determined to uncover the reason for the murders and to break the cycle once and for all.
P.S. this one is coming nextΒ βΒ The Rose and the DaggerΒ (and it’s up for pre-order, and coming out soon!)
UPDATE: YAY!!! I was right! π Jennifer just messaged me back saying:
“Oh Maryse!
Β That’s it!!!!I told my husband your powers were beyond comprehension! Thanks so much. I will let you know if it’s as good as it sounds.” <— LOL!!! π My pleasure Jennifer!
Nope, but I do want to read that. I love 1001 nights, and haven’t read a re-tell of it before.
Want to. I’ve seen buzz since last year & looks fun.
Oh I need to win the lottery! Now I want to read this one too!! It looks intriguing and right up my alley! Tks
Exactly Tessa. 1001 Nights is what I thought of first. Then it vaguely sounded like the beginning of Land of the Beautiful Dead. It’s neither, it sounds like one I want to read though.
Hi Maryse! I read this book a few months ago….is fantastic! I recommend it to everybody!!!I have recently read the saga The Fallen World by Laura Thalassa that I was advised on these page (by nancy if I’m not mistaken) and it’s truly beautiful! I love the characters (both) and the plot! I am now looking for a new book (or series, trilogy etc.) gender dystopian, magic or paranormal..possibly new adult or adult … with rare exceptions, like the series of sarh j maas, I don’t prefer young adult π you have tips for me? π
Thank you Carlotta!!! It sounds pretty awesome…
