Ooooh I LOVE “Hermit/Recluse” hero books, and I thought I had her answer, until she mentioned the local sheriff.
But wait!! I think I remember reading one like this last year and I LOVED it, ’cause it had quite the awesome twist that I totally didn’t see coming. Or maybe that was er… a movie? Okay… lemme think… lemme think. While I search my reviews for the title of the one I’m thinking of, maybe you guys already know?
There is this book I can’t quite remember the title or even the author. But I think the story goes that the woman gets in some sort of trouble and ends up in a secluded mountain area in a cabin I think. Then her neighbor there is a bit of a recluse but soon finds her endearing. I think the local sheriff or something also likes the heroine.
Pleeease help! Cant keep still unitl I find out what that was.
Anyone?
Reader Suggestions:
- Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan <— I bet this is it!!!! I can’t believe I didn’t immediately say this. Gah… I had my mind on Nicholas Sparks. 😉 P.S. Here is my review of Archer’s Voice
- The Witness by Nora Roberts
- Brutally Beautiful by Christine Zolendz <— here is my review of Brutally Beautiful
- Shelter from the Storm by Molly Wens
Sounds a bit like Archer’s Voice? I don’t remember the heroine being in trouble, but Archer is a recluse and his cousin (a cop I think) likes her too…
There is a book called shelter from the storm by Molly wens.
Girls gets stuck in storm guy finds her in the woods, he’s been hiding from life in a cabin in the mountains. I don’t remember anything about a police officer but I could be wrong on that?
Brutally Beautiful by Christine Zolendz?
I bet it’s Archer’s Voice!!!! YES YES YES OF COURSE!!! Gah! I was thinking of a Nicholas Sparks movie but of COURSEEE his cousin was a Sheriff! YES YES YES!! One of my fav books ever. What’s the matter with my brain, friends? 😛
It sounds like The Witness by Nora Roberts. She was in hiding because she saw a murder by the Russian mob when she is a teenager and he is the sheriff in her town.
Does sound like a lifetime movie but alot of them where books first. doesn’t sound like a Nicholas sparks that I can remember and I’m a big fan of his. Haven’t read either of the above books so I can’t say it’s them since I don’t know their stories. Does sound like a book I read not long ago. It’s now going to drive me crazy and haven’t wrote much comment in my written book journal in over a year (at least for most books) so can’t look back that way. I keep going back to the book beauty can’t remember the author but it’s not that only the recluse part would match.
okay now I need to read archer’s voice.
Ooooooo….Archer’s Voice (sigh). Loved that book!
I have one I hope that you lovely readers can help me with. The heroine restores houses. She is beginning a restoration on an old Victorian. Two ladies come to see her. They are in period costume. She thinks that they are the welcoming committee. It turns out that they are ghosts and they want her to help solve an old murder. Can anyone identify the book?
Safe Haven was a book by Nicolas Sparks AND a movie. It was the 1st thing that popped in my head.
And therefore Peggy, you know exactly the twist I was thinking of. 😉 SOOOOO good!!!
Archer’s voice! I can’t wait to start. Plus 2 more up next from all your suggestions. Thank you y’all! Maryse,I love your blog soooo much by the way, first thing I do everyday. I even keep it open my whole time at work waiting for new posts! I’m curious about Bridget’s book question though. Sounds interesting.
That’s right forgot that not sure if I ever got to see that movie. I have to say ihis was one of the favorite author signings I ever went to got a picture with him with his arm around me which I never expected him to do that.
Archers Voice has been my favorite 2014 read so far.
A strong 4 star recluse book for me was: The Hermit by Shayne McClendon. It had some darkness to it, but was an orginial read.

Transcendence by Shay Savage could fall into this category and was a great read as well.
And one more… (Apparently this is a book quality I like too)
Finding Grace by Rhea Rhodan
