Reader Question – The YA book about the girl who lives alone in an old trailer and gets sick, so he brings her to his house…

Julie needs our book help! Okay I’ve definitely read a few like this and maybe even this one… however I can’t remember the part about the cute camper. It made me think of Kyland by Mia Sheridan (here’s my review), but the details don’t match. The feel does, though, it would seem.

She asks:

Going crazy trying to remember a book. Can someone help?

YA/Contemporary Romance about a girl who is a senior in high school who lives alone (can’t remember why) in an old trailer/camper in the woods. She’s a good student and keeps to herself.

A popular boy (but middle class) notices her. He follows her home (I think) and sees the trailer. She misses a couple days of school and he finds her and she’s very sick. She goes to his house.

I remember the family being down-to-earth and kind. For some reason I think the family put a cute camper in their backyard for her to live in.

Read in 2019, likely on KU, but don’t know if it was new.

Anyone have a guess?

Julie: No. The story I’m looking for isn’t dark or mysterious.

Fiona: I would say it is “Don’t Kiss the Bride, An Age Gap Marriage of Convenience” by Carina Cole; the H is down on her luck living in a trailer park and is near married age; she has no health insurance and has a lot on her plate; Jude the H marries her when she is legal takes her home and it goes from there; a brilliant read from Carina Cole whose rockstar books are also great; would recommend.

Julie: They both are in high school in the book I’m looking for!
