Here’s one that I took to Facebook, and already have a couple of great answers for Misty, but in case anyone here wants to add to these suggestions, or suggest something else, we are all ears! π
Misty needs our help!! Since I mostly read on my iPad I thought my fellow readers (and Kindle users) could weigh in and help suggest one for her. She asks:
“Hi Maryse.
I was wondering if you might be able to recommend a Kindle for me? I want one that I can read in the bright sunlight, and that the matchmaker will play audio books on. … I have become a book junkie after finding your website. I never read anything but People magazine before that. LOL! Thank you!”
Betty: I don’t do audio but the PaperwhiteΒ is the bomb. I’ve owned all generations of kindles and Fire
Β and that’s my favorite
Susan:Β Paperwhite has the capabilities you want. I love mine. Can read outside and in the middle of the night it has a backlight.
Miss Denmark:Β This is the one I’ve been recommended in my reader groups!! My 2nd gen kindle needs to be upgraded
MichelleMarie: The Paperwhite doesnβt have audio capability so no audio books. Amazon removed audio From the kindles β you would need to get a Kindle FireΒ or find a used Kindle Touch
Caitlin:Β I have a paperwhite and love it. I do my audio books on my iPhone using either audible (which will switch back and forth with the kindle version) or my libraryβs apps.
Rebecca:Β Misty, load the free Audible app on your phone. You will read your ebook via your kindle of choice, and you can listen to the audio when you’re up and about, via your phone. The ebooks that have wispersync option when buying, will allow your devices toΒ automatically sync each other where you are in your book, whether you read from it or listen to it. ie: if you listen up to chapter 5 while doing housework, your kindle will automatically sync up to chapter 5 on the ebook, for when you want to read it. I have both the kindle app and audible apps loaded both onto my iPad and phone, they both need wifi to enable them to sync from one device to the other, and always keep your place in your book. This would work the same with a kindle, and a phone with kindle & audible apps. I hope I make sense π
Anyone else?

Ahhhhh that’s good info MichelleMarie. Thank you!!!
I have a paperwhite and please don’t tell my husband (or my doggy) but it is up there as one of my prized possessions!! I was so hesitant to make the switch from books to an e reader but honestly, since I got my first one (on my second one now) I have never looked back! The paperwhite is awesome and the back lighting is perfect! Love the storage and the ability to search and sort!! I have 3g and would not do without it – can download stuff so easily! The only thing that I wish someone at Amazon would do is give us the option to mark a book as read (even just a tick mark by the title) – not have to add to a collection! Trust me, you will love it!!!
I have the Paperwhite and I absolutely love it!!! Haha I never leave home without it. You can read at the beach or in the middle of the night. Just change the light settings. It is really simple to use. One thing I did get was a sleep cover for it. It saves on the battery and I don’t have to worry about shutting it off. Just close the cover. Hope this was helpful and I hope you enjoy whichever one you choose βΊ
I read on my Ipad as well, had nooks. But I can’t read in the sun
So my question is if I buy a Paper white kindke Will the ebooks come up on my ipad and kindle?
Thanks
I would say yes, Theresa… I think they can, if you “sync” your readers to your Amazon account.
But I’ll await the answer of others that know for sure. π
Theresa: you can link up to 6 devices to one Amazon account. I read on a Kindle and an iPad without trouble
I have a kindle fire. I use it to download books and audio books . It has text to speech too so it reads to you. It does sound a bit robotic but I don’t mind. You can also play games and watch movies on it. You can sync your phone kindle app to your kindle fire. I love, love, love it. I don’t go anywhere with out my kindle.
I have now just bought my second paper white. Totally spoiled with it. I love it and I love that I can read in the dark and in the sunlight. You can adjust the brightness. I also have an iPad that I buy my books from and then through amazon, I have it set up to download my books to my kindle but I also can check my amazon acct. for my list of books from my iPad. I don’t know if this helps and no I have no connection to amazon. Also, they keep having it on sale off and on for $99.99.
I have the voyage and absolutely love it. I can read anywhere with it. It has a great battery life too.
Reader Question: I am looking for the book where he are going through a divorce and his ex is in a new relationship with her lawyer and they both are killed in a car accident leaving him with custody of his child. Thanks.
