<— ONE OF the TOP BOOKS on my TBR list, one that has been SO highly, and so often recommended (forbiddeny and so angsty sounding!!!) and one of the most frequently asked about in my “reader question” emails. Everyone wants to read this, if they haven’t yet, including me! :D!!!
Susan: I just finished Something in the Way by Jessica Hawkins. I judge a book by whether or not I can put it down and I could not put it down. 5 stars for me.
Sharon: Sharon: I dropped EVERYTHING for Somebody Else’s Sky – I am engrossed and love it! I hate that it’s a cliffhanger, but it’s almost sweeter, angstier having to wait!
Nay: Sharon–I totally agree! Super tummy-twisting angst and I can’t decide if I loved Something in the Way or Somebody Else’s Sky more AND I can’t believe we have to wait until October for the last one! … I knew what I was getting into, but I just CAN’T wait when I find a book/series I REALLY want to read. It’s the best kind of torture! However, silly me assumed that since there were three months between the first two books, the 3rd book would also be released in three months…but noooooo!
Sharon: BTW, book 2 was by far my favorite so far!
GAHHHHH!!! Just check out this blurb. You’ll see. 😉
About book #1:
It was a hot summer day when I met him on the construction site next to my parents’ house. Under the sweat and dirt, Manning Sutter was as handsome as the sun was bright. He was older, darker, experienced. I wore a smiley-face t-shirt and had never even been kissed. Yet we saw something in each other that would link us in ways that couldn’t be broken…no matter how hard we tried.
I loved Manning before I knew the meaning of the word. I was too young, he said. I would wait. Through all the carefully-chosen words hiding what we knew to be true, through his struggle to keep me innocent, and through infinitely-starry nights–I would wait.
But I’d learn that life isn’t always fair. That no matter how much you achieve, none of it matters if you suffer the heartbreak that comes with falling for someone you can never have. Because even though I saw Manning first, that didn’t matter. My older sister saw him next.
