<— FORBIDDEN LOVE SERIES ALERT!!!! And… okay so admittedly, I think this one was supposed to be a duet, but Karina Halle JUST released a new book (it’s a standalone), but guess what I found out?
The Forbidden Man is a crossover/spinoff, ’cause the main characters from Love, In English make an appearance!!!
Stephnie: 71% in and this just might be the best thing I’ve read this year…Thank you Karina Halle!!! P.S – I love catching up with Mateo & Vera too ❤
Maryse: Ohhhhh YES!!! I was wondering if this one was going to have crossover characters (I LOVE THEM!!!)
P.S. WE LOVED “Love, In English” (such tumultuous, romantically-angsty goodness – in fact, here’s my Book Review)!!! 😀
Amy: Love, in English ….Holy freaking moly, I absolutely LOVED that one. SO much emotion and turmoil and swooniness, and I don’t think I had even one single complaint. And the cover…ohhhh the beautiful cover. Everything about it was just… *dreamy sigh*
MichelleS: LOVE IN SPANISH!!!! Cannot wait. I loved “Love in English”…. just a fantastic read. God, he was hot! Wasn’t he hot? And then seeing all those soccer players this summer in the World Cup…. I could definitely revisit that. And his name is Mateo!!! What’s not to like. Older hot soccer star. I’m in….
Leslie M: Yup! Everything is big fat swoonfest when it comes to Love, in English. …of course it was awesome-sauce.
MichelleS: Oh man…. that cover of Love in Spanish gets me every time. he’s so dreamy. Loved that series.
Cheryl: Reading Love in Spanish. Wow, happily-ever-after meets real life! *sigh*
Jean: Finished Love in Spanish last night! Wow, just wow! Love, in English and Love, in Spanish may just be my favorite books of the year! Soooooo great!!!!! …cannot get enough of Mateo! Don’t know what the heck I’ll read after this…. nothing will compare! You guys should have forced me to read this one sooner…. I would have listened… I swear!
So… me, being me and loving to make lists of “stuff that go together” means I couldn’t resist making this a “series” reading order and adding her latest release to it.
About book #1:
He’s thirty-eight. I’m twenty-three.
He speaks Spanish. I speak English.
He lives in Spain. I live in Canada.
He dresses in thousand-dollar suits. I’m covered in tattoos.
He’s married and has a five-year old daughter.
I’m single and can’t commit to anyone or anything.
Until now.Because when they say you can’t choose who you fall in love with, boy ain’t that the damn truth.
***
To a restless dreamer like Vera Miles, it sounded like the experience of a lifetime. Instead of spending her summer interning for her astronomy major, she would fly to Spain where she’d spend a few weeks teaching conversational English to businessmen and women, all while enjoying free room and board at an isolated resort. But while Vera expected to get a tan, meet new people and stuff herself with wine and paella, she never expected to fall in love.
Mateo Casalles is unlike anyone Vera has ever known, let alone anyone she’s usually attracted to. While Vera is a pierced and tatted free spirit with a love for music and freedom, Mateo is a successful businessman from Madrid, all sharp suits and cocky Spanish charm. Yet, as the weeks go on, the two grow increasingly close and their relationship changes from purely platonic to something…more.
Something that makes Vera feel alive for the first time.
Something that can never, ever be.
Or so she thinks.
SERIES READING ORDER:
- Love, in English
- Love, in Spanish: (A Love, in English sequel)
- The Forbidden Man: A Standalone Romance <— P.S. Upon release this one was originally called “The Younger Man” but the author soon changed the title saying:
The Younger Man has a new title!
The Younger Man is now called The Forbidden Man. Same cover and it’s still Alejo & Thalia’s epic romance inside, just a new name.
There were a few big reasons for the change but mainly I chose the title The Forbidden Man is because it more accurately describes the story and if you’ve read the book I think you’ll agree.
Yes, there is an age difference between Thalia and Alejo but the book doesn’t actually focus on that. It’s more about the fact he’s forbidden to her because of their workplace/careers, not because he’s younger. In a sweet way, age isn’t really a factor between these two.
Plus I came up with the original title back in May and as we all know, the release was pushed back. So when I finally wrote it in November, The Younger Man didn’t really *fit* the story anymore 🤷🏼♀️
So now we have The Forbidden Man. …I rarely (if ever) change covers and I’ve never changed a title before, so believe me and I say I don’t take changes like this lightly.
