Lora Leigh – Breed Series Reading Order:

by Maryse on June 18, 2009 · 43 comments

in Reading Order Guide:

Although the order of books as per Amazon is a bit “weird” the chronological order I have listed them in, comes directly from Lora Leigh’s website (and she acknowledges that they were written out of order, but this IS the order in which she lists the books – so I think I will trust her judgement that this is proper reading order of her books).

As quoted from her website:

The Breeds were originally written out of order chronologically, so that and a change in publishers is why there are chronological discrepancies in Jacob’s Faith and Aiden’s Charity.

  1. Tempting the Beast (Feline Breeds, Book 1)
  2. The Man Within (Feline Breeds, Book 2)
  3. Elizabeth’s Wolf (Wolf Breeds, Book 4)
  4. Kiss of Heat (Feline Breeds, Book 3)
  5. Soul Deep (Coyote Breeds, Book 1)
  6. The Breed Next Door (as found in the Hot Spell (Anthology)
  7. Megan’s Mark (The Breeds, Book 1)
  8. Harmony’s Way (The Breeds, Book 2)
  9. Tanner’s Scheme (The Breeds, Book 3)
  10. Wolfe’s Hope (Wolf Breeds, Book 1) as found in the Primal Heat Anthology
  11. Jacob’s Faith (Wolf Breeds, Book 2)
  12. Aiden’s Charity (Wolf Breeds, Book 3)
  13. In a Wolf’s Embrace (in the Beyond the Dark anthology)
  14. Dawn’s Awakening (The Breeds, Book 4)
  15. A Jaguar’s Kiss (in Shifter anthology)
  16. Mercury’s War (Breeds, Book 16)
  17. Christmas Heat (as found in the The Magical Christmas Cat anthology)
  18. Coyote’s Mate (Coyote Breeds, Book 2)
  19. Bengal’s Heart (Breeds)
  20. Christmas Kiss (as found in the Hot for the Holidays anthology) – Wolf Breeds
  21. Lion’s Heat (Breeds)
  22. Styx’s Storm (Breeds)
  23. Primal Kiss as found in Primal Anthology
  24. Navarro’s Promise (Breeds)
  25. An Inconvenient Mate as found in the “Tied With a Bow Anthology”
  26. Lawe’s Justice (Breeds)
  27. Stygian’s Honor (wolf)
  28. Devil’s Due as found in the Enthralled Anthology (Devil and Katie)
  29. Rule Breaker: A Novel of the Breeds
  30. Bengal’s Quest (A Breed Novel)

The Breeds Series are hot and totally awsome, I sit day and night reading and cannot put any of the books down. I am drawn into the heat of the lusts of the characters. I look forward to the other books and cannot wait to read them….. for now I will read the series I have for the forth time and wait.. :)

Janis January 23, 2011 at 1:19 PM

Love your books. I just found your website and I like the order of the books. I didn’t know the correct order I just read them. Our county library is looking to get some of the books for our patrons.

catrina February 14, 2011 at 9:06 PM

So even tho Lizzie’s Wolf is wolf breed book 4 I can read it before wolf breeed books 1-3?

Maryse February 14, 2011 at 10:41 PM

Hi Catrina! From what I gather, this is the order in which she intended them to be read. It seems publishers picked up on books and published them in random order, but as per how she wrote them herself, this is her preferred reading order. I hope this helps!

My 19 year old daughter got me hooked on these books almost a year ago. She reads them over and over until another comes out. Earlier this year she was running into bookstore to get the latest and was grazed by a car. Tells you how far she’ll go for her L.L. breed fix.

Maryse May 9, 2011 at 7:48 PM

Hi Nan!

Wow she really does love those books! Hrmmmm I’m sure I’ve acted all sorts of crazy over a few myself…

I’m dying to read these. I have yet to hear of someone who didn’t totally fall for this series. The last one hit a bump with the missing pages, but I still hear it was plenty good.

Lindsay October 6, 2011 at 6:43 PM

Thanks for this reading order. Exactly what I was hoping to find. I wasn’t sure if I should read Elizabeth’s Wolf first or Kiss of Heat and this answered my question. Though, I have been anxious for Sharra and Kane’s book…I can wait one more. :)

Laurel December 2, 2011 at 3:33 PM

Please add An Inconvenient Mate (A Novella from the anthology Tied With A Bow). I think it comes after Lawe’s Justice… but I’m just guessing.

Malachi Morgan (Coyote Breed) & Isabelle Martinez

Maryse December 4, 2011 at 11:28 AM

Done :) Thanks Laurel! According to the author’s list, it is before Lawes Justice…

Lacey February 1, 2012 at 9:04 PM

So I randomly picked up Lawe’s Justice the other day and lovedd it!! So now I wanna go back to read the others and was wondering where to start? Just the Breeds? or all the way at the beginning? Since the series is broken down into defferent categories? Thanks..

connie April 30, 2012 at 1:18 AM

I was wondering where dose Enigma go in the series??

Maryse April 30, 2012 at 12:29 PM

Enigma is not part of this particular series. It belongs in her Elite ops series.

I hope that helps!

Jonelle May 15, 2012 at 4:29 AM

I love this series, am so addicted, the reading order helps and you fall in love with the story each one has…..

Maryse May 15, 2012 at 11:12 AM

So many recommendations for this series!! I’ll definitely be reading it!

sherva June 16, 2012 at 5:57 PM

just love nauti nights still need to read alot more

Molly Walters July 10, 2012 at 1:21 PM

I love the Breed Series and all of Lora’s other books as well. I was wondering though when “Navarro’s Promise” will be released with the missing pages added. She wrote on her web site that it would be soon, but that was almost a year ago. She also posted the missing scene, so at least I know what was suppose to be there, but I really would like the complete book for my collection. Thank-you Lora for such wonderful series’ and exciting reading!

Brittany September 1, 2012 at 3:19 PM

Hey, I was wanting to see if you know when the next book is supposed to come our?

Renee September 6, 2012 at 8:27 AM

When will Rule Breaker’s story come out? I’ve read everything else. Love them all!!

Melissa M. Chavez October 7, 2012 at 2:18 AM

I you haven’t read this series I would recommend it. I love it. Lots of books in the series but sooo worth it. Another series of Lora Leigh’s that I read and loved is her NAUTI BOYS series. 3 hot and nauti cousins. I believe their is 5 books in that series love, loved, loved it. She is just coming out with a spin off of that series which will be Nauti Girls and it is due out Nov. 6th. But you will love the boys: Dawg, Rowdy & Natches.

Cathy November 2, 2012 at 11:12 AM

Quick question – Stygian’s Honor was the 1st book I picked up .. Did not realize it was part of a series .. Do you know when the next book in the series is set to be released . I am dying to know what happens. The way Stygian’s Honor ended drove me crazy or does she end all her books on a cliff hanger .. Thanks – PS LOVE YOUR SITE … Very informative

suzan December 16, 2012 at 9:10 PM

Hi Maryse,
I absolutely became obsessed with Lora Leighs Breeds series. I stumbled upon Tempting The Beast and went crazy over the series. It id a great and plot. The series continues to intrigue and posses fascination along with curiosity. Plus the romance is beautifully written and the sex scenes are something to get a few blushes over. Book 3 (or 4) Elizabeths wolf is where the series changes some and becomes even MORE of a soul stealing addiction. I cried 3 times (happy and sad tears… all good) which I’ve never done before! And I’ve read 200+ books this year. I’m a vampire paranormal addict in the worst best way.
Love your lists and reviews. They lead me to where I’m reading next!

Kathleen December 29, 2012 at 3:02 PM

I love your books, looking for the newest breed series

darlene January 23, 2013 at 12:22 AM

“Mercury’s War “is my absolute favorite.I have read the book 3 times now and I love it just as much each time I read it. I am avidly waiting for the next one. I have read each and every one of them and can’t wait for the next one.

am honestly addicted to the breeds series, my God how do you make it so real, so vivid and some times we just wish we are the ones experiencing it, how can l be jealousy of your characters, they are driving me insane, cant get the images out of my head.

great work lora, simply brilliant

priscilla July 7, 2013 at 9:22 AM

Hi can you please tell me what book is Cassie’ s if she has one. I just finished Dawn`s and the reading does it pick up where that one left off. Thank you.

priscilla July 7, 2013 at 9:23 AM

I meant the reading order does not pick up where that one left off

Jessica July 17, 2013 at 3:09 PM

Hi. I was wondering if someone could help me out. I’m confused. Lol. So I read the 1st and 2nd book on this list. Do all the Breed books run together? For example, if I don’t read Elizabeth’s wolf, am I going to miss something about the feline breeds? Like, would I be confused if I read all the felines, then the wolves, etc?

kathy cusick August 18, 2013 at 5:39 PM

I have read all your books and love them. I tell everyone about them and have a lot of friends and family reading them as well. Thank you for all the hard work you put in every book you write. Can’t wait for the new ones to come out.

Sarah Johnson October 16, 2013 at 12:02 PM

Hey Maryse, I’ve refered to your reading lists so often that I thought I ought to post a quick note to say things. You rock!

Maryse October 16, 2013 at 12:17 PM

YAY!! I’m glad I was able to help. :D *hug*

Melissa December 6, 2013 at 3:25 PM

Rule breaker Feb 4th, 2014.. Eeeek so excited!!! Love the cover!

True: book 11 in New Breed series comes out Dec. 10, 2013…. Double eeeek…

I love both of these series….

Stephanie reeves November 24, 2014 at 8:56 PM

First off wanted to say Omgosh I am not a book reader. In fact my Mon paid me 25 bucks to every read book with no pictures…guess how much I made….25 so saying that I can not put these books down. My aunt referred me to them n t days later I bought four more after the first3 feline breeds. So here’s my question. I want the original pride books….no spoilers please but if I skip the wolf n coyote breeds am I missing a lot. From, kiss of heat I went n ordered Tanners scheme n dawns awakening then Bengals heart and lions heat is the order I intend. Is that slipping too much n one other thing. Is mercurys war merc from the sanctuary or someone sele

Stephanie reeves November 24, 2014 at 8:59 PM

I just intend to do main pride first which is how lora leads her epilougues

jes December 27, 2014 at 3:12 AM

hi! i love all the breeds books and was wondering of there was another series close to this??
Besides the Laurann Dohner new species series??

Lori September 4, 2015 at 1:13 AM

Hi, just a quick note, you have Overcome listed as the 30th book but it is actually a compilation of three novellas and is a re-release. It makes it confusing when you put them back in again, as Lora lists Bengals Quest as number 30.

Maryse September 4, 2015 at 9:16 AM

Ah good to know. Thanks Lori! I removed it from the order since it’s just a re-release…
