A few fellow readers brought this series to my attention:
Brandy: I just read Long Hard Ride by Lorelei James. OMG!!! It was so freaking hot. Not one, not two, but three HOT cowboys on the rodeo circuit. So of course after I finished this saucy book I was salivating for more. And look what I found…a whole series! Check it out.
Lauren: “Have you read the Rough Riders Series from Lorelei James? The guys are not rockers but cowboys and several of them are bad boys but the series is great. I am not usually a cowboy type of girl and I loved each of the books.”
Lori: “I was surprised to see you haven’t mentioned Loreleigh James’ Rough Riderseries. Awesome bunch of alpha cowboys! I hope u get a chance to read them! You will definitely love the series!”
Jennifer: “… full of just the right amount of “naughtiness” lol”
and Penny voted all of these guys in her top heroes list:
“All the dysfunctional but hot McKay brothers (Lorelei James)”.
This is a nice long series to get really involved in, (exactly what I love), and wasn’t I just mentioning a few months ago, that I wanted to get into some bad-boy “rodeo” guy books? Remember? When I went to that rodeo and was exposed to all of that awesome testosterone-driven energy? Oh. And yep! I can confirm. Many of ’em were quite quite cute, too, along with that whole bad-ass vibe! It was like a book scene that had come to life.
Oh. Er…. ummm… going by the titles, covers and by the book descriptions, ummm…. tee hee!!! *blush* This looks more along the lines of erotica then contemporary romance, but you know. I’m sure there’s romance, too. 😉 and plenty of great reviews for each, too!

P.S. —-> Oh wow! A little add-on is apparently needed, as my Facebook page just “blew up” with enthusiasm over this series. My my my… Apparently this one needs to be moved up my TBR list, ASAP:
Penny Lesser-Tillotson I liked these!! Hot hot hot…
Brandy: I want to get started on these eventually but I think I am kind of hesitant because it is cowboys.. but I am sure I will LOVE them once I get started on it!
Tiffany: just read 4 books in the series!
Sarah: hahaha… you’re not wrong Maryse.. Book 1 entitled Long Hard Ride!! lol. Fantastic!
Maryse’s Book Blog: hahahaha!!! *blush* and they continue with those “suggestive” titles. Eeeeep!
Lissa: I love this series!
Kimberly: Awesome series!! I was not into the cowboy thing either but after I read them I absolutely had a change of heart!!! LOL
Michelle: I read every single one and they r some of my favorite books! I love Lorelei! Can’t wait 4 the next one coming in June Kissin Tell!!!
Maryse’s Book Blog: Wow you guys are all riling me up over this!! I went to a rodeo last year (the same weekend I discovered Kristen Ashley and “Tate”) and I had the best weekend ever. That weekend was testosterone driven. Alphas everywhere (in my books and even in real life!!), and I knew I had to find me some bad-boy cowboy books!
Michelle: I’m telling u Maryse they r HOT HOT!! They really r good books u will look at cowboys in a whole different way when u read these books made me want 2 go 2 Wyoming and find me a McKay of my own! Lol
Melissa: oh! oh! sounds like my kinda book!! do you guys watch Sons of Anarchy? Im missing the samcro boys 😀 😉 OMG i read wrong lmfao!! typical of me >.< I love cowboys too and rodeos! 😉
Lissa: Yeah, I’m here in Houston and I didn’t look at the rodeo the same this yeary (fanning herself)
Jamie: I just giggled like a 12 year old girl reading the names of those books!
Melissa: holy crap 12 books! lol as bad as BDB
Courtney: Loved these series!
Melissa: I gotta go add them to my ‘to read’ list on goodreads lol
Michele: My besti is reading this series right now too & she LOVES it!! 😉
OMG… I can’t believe the Rough ROugh Riders were not already on your list. I feel like I have let the McKays and you down by not telling you about them already. They are definitely blush, giggle and swoon worthy. The girls kick ass too! Cowboy, take me away!!!!
Beth… it appears I have been missing out 😉 But all is well now. I know about ’em and can start making my way through them.
Oh yeah, you’ve definitely got to give these a try. Not to worry, they are definitely romances, not erotica, it’s just that the heat level is way up there. If you are into rodeo, you will love the first book especially.
Maryse – Have you started this series yet? Just curious what you thought of the hot, sexy, yummy McKay cowboys. I should be finished with Chasing Eight tonight. I have the horrible habit of getting so deeply involved in a series that I have to finish it before I move on to the next book.
I love this series. I have the girls at my work hooked on them. I have read all of them, can not wait until ties for the next book.
Very excited to start this steamy series!
I have only read the first one, but it was quite good. Yes, a little smutty (kind of like Backstage Pass) but good bad boy/alpha men and ones to read when you need a breather after a book that has left you emotionally spent. 😉
i am so in love with these books!!! i only question is…..what to read now that i have to wait for the next books to come out. what would compare to them????
your forgot to add the short story “Guns and Roses” that is about Cameron. It was a pretty heart felt one.
You should try her Blacktop Cowboys series. I like it even better than the Rough Riders.
i totally love this blacktop series , every single one of them, my favorite is the one with chase and ava (his wife ) i have read every single one of the series, i love the McKays, i am now waiting for one on Dalton, and one on Boone and sierra, can!t wait, why do they wait so long in between them, they are so sex filled , i just love them
omg love, love love these books. lorelei james knows her cowboys yum.
Great series! I discovered these last yr around rodeo time in Houston. Was watching the events with a whole new POV! Greatly enjoy your blog and always recommend it to fellow readers!
New book of short stories out in the series called “Short Rides”. Stories about Cam and Domini, Chassie, Trevor & Edgard, and Keely and Jack.
just started reading the series and WOW.. its hot!!! so hot in fact i’m stuck reading it out of order.. i started with Chasing Eight since they’re so popular with all the local (and some not so local) libraries i’ve only gotten to read a few more and i’m having to wait a while before i can gett the rest.. i swear if i ever win the lotto i’m spending millions on books.. (only slighty joking).. anywho while looking for this series at the libraries i came across Lorelei James’ Blacktop Cowboys.. and loved it!!! it starts with Corralled, then Saddled & Spurred, Wrangled and Tangled, and then One Night Rodeo.. i totally recommend book series of books
Danielle….if you will send me an email i will hook you up with the rough rider books 🙂
[email protected]
thanks kelly will do 🙂
Just finished Redneck Romeo, please tell me there are more or will be more.
I just finished reading Redneck Romeo, do you know when the next one is coming out
I really need a family tree…..I can’t keep up with all the spouses/kids!!
There is a family tree on Lorelei’s website! And the next book is June, I am totally guessing but I think it will be a kind of prequel so Carson, Cal, Carolyn and Kimi, I think Boone and Sierra wil be a Wild West book, same with Ramona, and Doc Monroe so although Rough riders is coming to an end there is still plenty of book to to be had from the West side of the McKay branch, or so I am hoping as I am totally addicted, and maybe a little obsessed !?
