Pepper Winters – Monsters in the Dark Series Reading Order

January 8, 2014 By Maryse 21 Comments

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!!! Je Suis a Toi (Monsters in the Dark Book 4) JUST WENT LIVE!!! eek ————>

“The long awaited follow up to the New York Times Bestselling Trilogy Monsters in the Dark.”

I hear this one is a must-read for “dark-read” (and I mean DARK read) lovers. This one’s got the whole Stockholm Syndrome-thriller thing (with an eerie love story mixed in). I haven’t read it yet, but many of you fellow readers have, and loved it. And I mean L-O-V-E-D it!!! Whoa. These are some of the most excited recommendations I’ve received.

BUT! I also hear that this one is darker in regards to the violence it explores. Eeeeep! I dunno you guys… I’m nervous. 😉 I know I like some of my reads crazy, shocking, dark and adrenaline-inducing, but I’m feeling a bit wimpy tonight. Tee hee! Well… Shanda does mention “heart-warming”. I dunno how the two mix, but maybe. 😛

Shanda: Maryse, I am sure you have seen this book being mentioned, but I have to tell you…. Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters is a gut wrenching, heart- warming, happy, deeply moving, and emotional roller coaster ride. It will twist your mind all while raising your blood pressure and keeping you up till the early morning hour, at least that is what it did for me. This book was amazingly deep and full of character development. I struggled with Tess in the beginning……. She was hiding secrets that may make most people feel uncomfortable, you know, the kind that expose raw, soul bearing fears and desires that most people would try to bury and hide, but then something happens…………… You must move it to the top of your TBR!

Nancy: I am about 60% in this book and it is mesmerizing! I can’t seem to put it down to do my work. I think it is right up your alley! Just wanted to let you know……..

A. Karr: Tears of Tess DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED! So good!

Mandy: Tears of Tess is a dark and very angsty read with a surprise twist to it that blew me away! Q Mercer is my new book boyfriend. This book will surprise you at every turn. Could not put it down!

Jill: I know you have mentioned how much you love dark reads so… I had to tell you about a book I read called Tear of Tess (monsters in the dark) by Pepper Winters. Totally reminded me of captive  in the dark. Stayed up late and slacked off at work to read it.

Kelly: Hey Chica! I love my dark books. CJ Roberts is a top fav of mine. But today I finished ‘Tears for Tess’ by Pepper Winters and dare I say on my gawd! it’s brilliant and dark and raw … I left work to finish it! Dark readers will swoon for Q and Tess, read it if you have the time and the constitution!

About book #1:

Tess Snow has everything she ever wanted: one more semester before a career in property development, a loving boyfriend, and a future dazzling bright with possibility. For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.

But lusty paradise is shattered. Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror.

Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can’t save her from the horror of being sold.

Can Brax find Tess before she’s broken and ruined, or will Tess’s new owner change her life forever?

  • Tears of Tess (Monsters in the Dark #1)
  • Quintessentially Q (Monsters in the Dark #2)
  • Twisted Together (Monsters in the Dark)
  • Je Suis a Toi (Monsters in the Dark Book 4)
  • Monsters in the Dark – First 3 in the series bundled!

You will love these books. I have similar tastes in books and you really really need to put these at the top of your tar list. This book was captive in the dark meets escape from paradise.

Where is everyone?? I *know* I’m not the only one who has read this!

I have a love-hate thing with this one but would recommend it as well, and I will be reading Quintessentially Q. It is dark, and there are definitely some “daaaaamn” and “oh sh*t!” and “wtf!” moments, but just stick with it. You know, big girl panties and all that, lol! You can handle this one, Maryse. 😉

I just finished Quintessentially Q ( Monsters in the Dark #2) yesterday and I have to say that it was soooo much more than Tears of Tess. Actually it went to my 6 stars shelf on GR. OUT OF THIS WORLD!!

I absolutely loved both of these books and read each in about a day because I could not put them down! If you liked CJ Roberts In the Dark series, you’ll love it. Although Pepper does go bit further into the “darkness” with the kidnapping things especially in book 2, but the love and powerful connection between Tess and Q is ah-mazing! It’s completely about 2 souls finding it’s match in the other person. Beautiful at it’s core.

Wow, I loved Tears for Tess and had downloaded Quintessentially Q but haven’t gotten to it yet. Happy to see Jan’s comments and now looking forward to reading it!! And, if you like this book, you should also read Madeleine Abducted!

ps-Excellent character development in these books. Familiar, yet unpredictable. Introspective and guarded, yet physically explosive and raw. Always intense. Easy to get lost in the main couple, much like another one of my all-time favorite reads (which happens to be dark), Comfort Food.

OHH! I loved and hated this series! More love. Book 2 is like WTF but then great ending. Cannot wait for book 3. It is a dark read but worth it!!!

Honestly, the first half of the book was so-so for me (not the writing, it just wasn’t as dark as I had anticipated). The author slapped me into shape the last half, reminding me that sometimes you need to know the journey before you can appreciate the story. Can’t wait to read QQ!!!

Thank you for sharing the reading order, Maryse. Tears of Tess isn’t really that dark (shades of grey, rather than black) Quintesentially Q is darker, but it’s all worth it. <3 <3 Thank you to everyone who has read and enjoyed. You are the reason I write <3 xxxx

Thank you, Pepper, for writing! I’ve come to truly appreciate stories that the relationship builds. So many stories these days have the characters jumping right in and I loved that you took the time to build the characters, letting us explore what made them tick.

I loved, loved these books, Tears of Tess and Quintessentially Q. I could not stop reading them once I started. They were mesmerizing, at times difficult to read because of the subject matter but a story so fantastic that I was sick when I finished the second book because I have to wait for Twisted Together to come out. Pepper Winters is one heck of a writer and I highly recommend these books.

I enjoyed Tears of Tess. But Ouintessentially Q is amazing. I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t want to finish it becaue I knew I had to wait for Twisted Together. But I also had to know what was going to happen. Now I have a book hangover, Thinking about a re-read but may will wait until Twisted Together is released. Is ther a release date yet?
