<— Oh this sounds like fun!! The future king chooses his handmaid to be his bride (it’s a political move) and she has no clue what to do… (and book #3 is going live tomorrow!!)
Ela: OH A NEW SHAY SAVAGE???!!!!!!!! AHOY!
Tessa: Okay, first, that Shay Savage one has me with “prince”. I’m a sucker for fairy tales.
About book #1:
In a bold political move, Sir Branford claims a handmaid as his bride instead of the expected princess in an attempt to spark a war. Poor Alexandra knows little of how to behave as the wife of a future king and knows nothing of the man who is suddenly her husband.
Alexandra knows she is being used as a pawn and must do her best to avoid scheming noblewomen and the scorned princess, accept her position as her husband ascends to the throne, and overcome her fears of the man with whom she now shares a bed.
Sir Branford is determined to have it all – the kingdom, a wife of his choosing, and the revenge he seeks for the death of his father. He doesn’t expect the naïve handmaid to become more important than he ever could have foreseen.
Sounds good. Love her writing style. BUT…. you knew there had to be a “but” right? I can’t spend $3 on 120 pages – that’s a novella to me. And it’s being released as a series? Why not put out ONE decently sized book for that price? That I would buy. UGH. My least favorite trend just keeps on going.
MichelleS I’m right there with you. I’d prefer a nice big book to enjoy all at once, and I didn’t realize the pricing of each installment… (or the length of each).
*sigh*
Yeah why not release it as one book? Frustrating and annoying for readers. Apart from that gripe, it looks good. A prince and a handmaid? Nice. And I loved Savage’s Transcendence. One of the most unusual romance books I’ve read. Almost in a genre of its own, but a very sweet read.
My favorite author. 🙂
and yet…this particular series isn’t calling to me. Even though I’ve LOVED the Evan Arden series, ADORED the Caged series, and still DROOL over the Surviving Raine duet.
I agree . All one book I feel cheated . It really makes one feel taking advantage of.
