For those in the mood for a little (er… I mean a LOT 😉 ) of “dark” in their reads, here’s a series for you. Each book reads as a standalone, and I’ve read one of ’em, so far (and another from this author that was “dark-read-awesome” too!). This is not for the faint-hearted.
And when I say “dark read” I don’t mean somber, and sad and downward-spiraly emotional darkness. No. I mean bordering on, if not, full-on disturbing erotic/romance/scary reading fun! Of the Stockholm Syndrome kind and more. Skye Warren is a queen of the genre!
Here is my review of Hear Me (book #3) and Wanderlust <— this one is not a part of the series but fits the mood of this series, for sure!!
Amanda: I also love books by Skye Warren…
Stacy: The first two in the “series” are also awesome. Keep Me Safe and Trust in Me. Trust in Me was my absolute favorite though. Girl is sex slave and boy from childhood comes to save her … etc. Lol, it’s good!
Nicole: I’m in a dark mood too. I’m reading another book by Skye Warren. Hear Me, the girl doesn’t talk and can’t remember who she is but remembers her slave training. Now, she has a new Master who doesn’t want her.
Cece: Hey Maryse – I read the other two books and they do run together with sideline characters, but can totally be read alone.
About book #1:
When Rachel is abducted by a group of thugs, one man steps in. Zachary wants her for himself, and she has no choice but to trust this stranger to keep her safe. When danger strikes again, Rachel’s body may endure the pain, but will their tenuous bond survive the abuse?
- Keep Me Safe (Dark Erotica)
- Trust in Me (Dark Erotica)
- Hear Me (Dark Erotica)
- Don’t Let Go (Dark Erotica)
Author says about book #4:
“It’s the fourth and final book in the Dark Erotica series, but it can totally be read alone. All you need to know is that Carlos is a bad guy, but that is well established at the beginning anyway. He was a villain in a couple previous books, so he’s very bad ”
I just read Keep Me Safe as I wanted to see what a dark erotica novel was all about and I’m a bit lost for words. The story was gripping enough to read to the end and you did feel for the characters but it’s just left me feeling empty. Guess it just wasn’t for me.
I just 1-clicked Keep Me Safe since it is only .99, but I really want to read Hear Me just based on the synopsis and your review! I never thought I would LOVE these dark reads, but Maryse introduced me to my dark side! Ha!
hehe. I’m sneaky like that. 😉 Actually it snuck up on me, too! 😛
