in Reading Order Guide:

<— The minute I saw this one (as I was preparing this week’s latest “new release post“) I knew I had to get it and point it out to y’all. This was so obviously going to be for us! Motorcycle club gangs with a dystopian feel? This could only mean fun! It is VERY high on my TBR list, and many of our fellow readers jumped on it and have already given it their stamp of approval:

Georgia: I was all set to go. Had my TBR list with all the new releases and I saw maryse post a new book by Stephanie Tyler called Defiance. Well I was hooked, 35% into it and it is really good. It reminds of Kit Rochas books Beyond Shame and Beyond Control but a little tamer.

Joanna: A few others have mentioned this one, but I figured I’d chime in. I started Defiance last night, and holy cow… It’s a post-apocalyptic biker book, and it has a real Mad Max flavor. LOVING the feel of it. Don’t know yet if I’ll love the whole book, but I’m definitely hooked!

Stacey: I loved it, too!

Tiffany: Defiance by Stephanie Tyler was Different and So So Good!!! Up there for me with Joanna Wylde’s Reaper and Madeline Sheehans Books…

Sabrina: This book rocked it!!!!!

A bit about the series (as per the author’s website):

“The Defiance series is a New Adult post apocalyptic motorcycle club book. I originally pitched it as Sons of Anarchy meets the apocalypse, and it deals with a struggle between the older and younger generation of the Defiance MC and their struggles to survive after a massive series of storms named the Chaos.”

About book #1:

Rebelling against her legacy as the MC’s princess, Tru Tennyson escaped the ruthless, male-dominated culture of the Defiance motorcycle club. Three years later, her newfound freedom is ripped away, thanks to a massive hybrid storm that killed millions. Now, in the post-Chaos world of semi-darkness and near-total anarchy where gangs rule, she discovers the dangerous world of Defiance may be the one thing that can keep her safe.

Tru is at the MC’s mercy when she’s dragged back to her former home…and to the only man she’s ever pictured a future with. Caspar is the bastard son of the club’s leader, her safe haven when life got rough—and her onetime lover the night she left. When Tru refuses to trade sex for power and be claimed by a rival club leader, she also dares to announce she wants Caspar instead, throwing the MC into turmoil.

Tru’s brazen revolt could start a gang war and destroy the club from within. Now both Tru and the MC must wait for Caspar’s response…and the inevitable fallout.

Hello Maryse! I am not a newbie to your blog and have been a lurker thus far, but I just HAD to comment about this book. I just finished Defiance and LOVED it! It was definitely multi-layered and angsty to the max. I am looking forward to the next installment. I am probably labeling myself as abnormal by saying this but this book was my PERFECT summer ” dystopian chick flick”. Thank you for bringing this book to my attention!

I believe I may have found my next read. Normally I’m not much of a dystopian reader , but hey you said mc and angsty so I’m in. Do you know if this has a cliffy?

I just read it. No cliffhanger. :) It was a lot like Sons of Anarchy.

Bikers, dystopian, angsty and no cliffhanger. Looking better with every comment!

Loved this book too. Initially I wasn’t really feeling it, but the further I read, the more I loved it. Last 1/2 was definitely a 5 star read for me. It was kind of a cross between a KA book, Beyond Shame, and Sons of Anarchy (story line within the club was very similar to Sons).

I saw this on your list last week & wasn’t too sure about it. I haven’t read any Biker books yet. Too be honest I grew up with bikers & just wasn’t sure I would like those types of books for several reasons.

I am so Happy I took a chance on this one! It was a great story. I wish it would have been longer. It’s one of those reads that leaves you craving more of the characters & world they live in!

This is a great story if you haven’t read it you should!!

If anyone has any more suggestions for books like this one I would appreciate the recommendations! Thanks for the review on this one Maryse!! Can’t wait for the next one!!
