OMG SURPRISE!!! Book #3 (A Scarcity of Condors) JUST WENT LIVE!!! I love this author and went crazy for book #1 (in fact, here’s 5-STAR my review) and I still need to read #2 – but my book buds LOVED IT and now… we have another!!!
These are TOTALLY epic love stories, yet not necessarily “romance” (in the traditional contemporary romance books sense). And to me? A love story, in all of its unpredictable growth and glory (the good and the bad) is my absolute reading perfection.
Val: She is a favorite! Her Fish Tales Series is one of my favorites ever. She is a beautiful writer. Oh book 2 is everything! You are in for such a treat. I got so happy when I saw this on my kindle today. Dropping everything to read!
Maryse: Absolutely MINE TOO! I pretty much gave that series 5 stars too!
Teri: One of my most treasured authors… sigh, I love everything she does.
Cindy: Yeah! I met her at an author event and she was awesome 🥰
Michele G: An Exaltation of Larks ….it’s such a wonderfully special book. For those of you who haven’t read it yet…do so. I simply love her writing talent…Suanne Laqueur is just so very talented. This book is kind of epic to me…so I’m savoring it…which I don’t do often.
Grey: Wow, I finished An Exaltation of Larks… I get it now.
Robyn: Maryse- check your Messenger because I wrote to you about my love of the book A Charm of Finches. Just an exquisite continuation of An Exhaltation of Larks by Suanne Lacquer. If you read her Fish Tales you know what I’m talking about.
Lynn: Book 2 was one of the best books I’ve ever read! I had a week-long book hangover after it and I’ve never had a book hangover before!
Jan: Yes, if you liked Exaltation of Larks you should def read Charm of Finches. One of my top reads of the year. … A kind of follow-on from An Exaltation Of Larks. … it was my only 5 star read for the month. I floved it. OMG Javier!
Rebecca: Book 2 IS just as amazing! When I was reading- I was torn between keeping going because I couldn’t stop- and having to stop because it was SO much. Suanne Laqueur has a gift that is rare and is exquisite. I want to follow her around so I can hear her thoughts as she has them- just an amazing woman and brilliant talent!
Maryse: Agreed!!!!! A wonderful storyteller! Everyone must read her love stories.
About book #1:
September 11, 1973: Eleven-year-old Alejandro Penda watches from his apartment window as Santiago, Chile falls to a military coup, destroying his family and his childhood. Arriving alone in America, he’s taken in by the Larks: a prominent family in the town of Guelisten. Though burdened by unresolved grief for his disappeared parents, he becomes fiercely loyal to the Larks, eventually marrying one of their daughters, Valerie.
September 11, 2001: Javier Landes watches from his apartment window as New York City falls to terrorism. As one of Manhattan’s top-paid male escorts, this professional lover has never lacked for company and is loyal only to himself. But in the wake of 9/11, Jav is named guardian for an orphaned nephew in Guelisten and must open his carefully-guarded heart to pain he’s long suppressed.
Alex, Valerie and Jav meet first in their twenties, with a sudden attraction each finds strange and compelling. When they meet again in their forties, they discover not only is their bond still strong, but their life experiences are strangely similar. Each was shaped by a 9/11, and their unfinished business from the past will change everything they know about love, loyalty and friendship.
“Life has rules. You cannot come in the middle of the night and take what we agreed isn’t yours.”
Across three decades and two continents, Suanne Laqueur’s fifth novel explores the unpredictability of sexual attraction, how family ties are forged, torn and mended, and how love’s downfall can turn to exaltation.
