The series is about a knight/conquerer who marries a handmaiden as a wife instead of a bride chosen for him.
There is a plot against them as they are required to produce an heir but someone poisons her tea that she is unable to get pregnant.

I have read a couple of short stories in some of the anthologies and I have read more than one about witches and they have something to do with the Knights of the Round Table. King Arthur and the knights and witches? Do you know who writes these? When I read one I always mean to write down the author but then I get sidetracked and forget.
