Vampire Diaries news of the day 05-23-09

Thanks to some of my favorite Twitterers (tvdnews and Vampire Diaries TV), I have been getting a plethora of great info on the upcoming show (that, and the new promo that keeps playing on CW)! So here are some details I have been able to compile:

  • The pilot was a success and it HAS been picked up and will air on the CW Network this fall.
  • It will take Smallville’s place on Thursday’s at 8pm before Supernatural (Smallville is being switched to Fridays)
  • They will be keeping the name “Salvatore” (as per the book) instead of what was originally planned “Whitmore” (much appreciated, as there is an AWESOME line from Damon, referencing his last name, that I hope they use in the show)
  • Here are the two trailers for the show as found on examiner.com
  • Lots of opposing views on the cast of characters (as they do not *look* like what we have come to expect from the descriptions of the book characters). In my opinion, the only one that has any semblance to the book character is Ian playing Damon.
