What I can’t put down but had to? THIS. OMG it’s soooooooo good! Sex, romance and zombies? What can be sexy about zombies? Mmmmhmmmm… that’s what I was thinking, too. I pointed it out a few weeks ago in a “new release” post, and knew I’d definitely read it because the synopsis intrigued me and the price was SO right.
But it got bumped up on my TBR list when some of my reading buddies gave it a go and told me just how steamy it was. Considering their reactions, I was getting the impression that it was steamier then “steamy” (get me?). It is. And luckily, the “sexy” doesn’t involve the zombies. They’re just an “extra” in this new world that these relatable characters are faced with.
But here’s what I didn’t expect. That my heart would be equally indulged. And it is. Think of it as a sort of “Walking Dead” but with intense emotion and romance thrown in for good measure. A relief from the terror that they are trying to survive.
I am so crushing on Daniel right now. And I know I’m about to start crushing on the “new” guy. I don’t want to (well a part of meΒ kind of does. A part of me is highly entertained by this new… possibility). But you see, I heart Daniel. BIG time. You’ll see… his goofy, sweet and alpha tendencies are absolutely swoonworthy. The “romance” is not over the top, and considering the circumstances, actually very-well written. A realistic edge to it.
I was intrigued right from the get-go, and connected immediately with the writing-style. I’m so into it and didn’t want to put it down once.
So why did I put it down? Wellllll… at around 50% a certain conversation took place, and I knew I didn’t want to jump into what might be next, without a good solid head on my shoulders. I need plenty of “alert” hours available to me so that I can “live” the second half to it’s maximum potential. So as soon as I’m home from work today, you know where I’ll be. Fighting a zombie apocalypse and… you know. Tee hee! π
See you at “The end”!
I love this book. She has a novella coming out Nov 1st set in the same world but with different characters. This book was hot and I loved it. You’re right Daniel is a major crush of mine too. Sweet, Goofy, Sexy, and able to kill to protect me. Heck yeah!
He has just enough of that comedic silliness to provide some light-hearted relief considering their dire circumstances.
And yet, his more serious, internal dialogue, makes my heart squeeze, just the right amount. I’d love for this to be a series! Glad for the novella.
I heart Daniel and Finn! Can I be Ali??
My coworker and I are going to read this book together in the next week or so… need some tenderness during the zombie apocalypse since there isn’t enough “steam” in The Walking Dead! Thanks Maryse!
Oh this sounds great! You totally sold me with the description of The Walking Dead + intense emotion. Off to buy it!
haha… you guys love the book so much you’re willing to put up with the zombies! And the no electricity thing. Oh and the “bad-guy” survivors.
Paula said this one our Facebook page: “I loved this book! Can there be a zombie apocalypse please?”
Yep that’s just how awesome the heroes are in this one. For them… it’s all worth it. π
Well… we’ll see. I still have the second half to read, but I have a good feeling.
Perfect book for an October read with Halloween around the corner and Walking Dead season 3 just beginning; this book is so good. Did I mention the number 3…. hmmm, I wonder why? Daniel, Ali and Finn- Oh Yeah!
I’m so with youβI LOVED this story! And Daniel was definitely my favorite. Finn was great too, but I found myself more attracted to Daniel, probably because he was older and taller, two things I happen to love in men and my romances in particular, lol.
Im so Glad you gave Flesh a try!!! Its a romance with a Really Good story behind it and I Loved it from the first Paragraph!! Can Not wait for your Review!! So hoping that there is a Sequel to Finn,Daniel and Ali’s Story..
Me too. More of Ali, Finn, and Dan please.
Sounds amazing!! I really want to read it, but I can’t buy it now π I’ll have to wait until I can but definitely is going to be at the top of my TBR list.
Just bought it. Can’t wait to read it. And can not believe it is only 99 cents. Thanks for the recommendation Maryse!
I loved this one! Was sorta surprised that I did, but can’t wait to revisit their world.
I am not usually a fan of the threesome/love triangle thing but this sounds really interesting. Do you think I should give it a try or pass?
Sheila, for what it’s worth, I’m generally not a fan either but I thought this was done well and I really enjoyed it.
