<— Happy Labor Day AND… it’s LIVE!!!! HOLLYWOOD DIRT is what I’m currently reading (I had an early copy and started yesterday) and I LOVE IT!! *whooooo* Cole is TOTAL book-boyfriend material and I am crushing HARD. Tee hee!!! 😀
You guys… I was loving it so much that I made a silly reaction video (even though I’m not even done the book yet). I just felt the need to EXPLAIN to you guys why I love it so much (even though the “trope” is one that we’ve read before… famous hollywood heartthrob meets “normal” girl in her hometown).
Mind you… I’m drawn to that theme no matter how many times I’ve read one like it, however what makes this one an “I LOVE IT” book, is the writing. How well the author brings these characters to life, how they interact, the hilarious things that they think when they don’t realize that WE are in their heads. Tee hee!!!! I feel like I’m just like her! Or so I wish… 😉
Maryse: You guys I AM LOVING LOVING LOVING!!!!!!!! Alessandra Torre’s new one that’s going live tomorrow (or midnight). It is hilarious, snarky, the banter is witty (I’m giggling like mad), and the heroine is my HERO. I JUST LOVE it!!!! Okay I’m only in the first half but devouring it and am making a reaction video and everything. I’m thrilled. I’m having a perfect reading Sunday. Can we call an author a total pro? ‘Cause this one totally is… I have a feeling this is my next 5-star read!! Gah!!! She’s good, you guys… the emotion in their thoughts, it all rings so true to me.
Emma: My Labor Day read…. weeee!
Maryse: You, my dear friend, are going to have a WONDERFUL Labor Day. 😀
Stephanie: I keep hearing the Old South in my head as I read this story. Alessandra has done a fantastic job with this book!
Maryse: YES!!! It makes me want to drink a mint julep on a big ol’ covered porch, swinging on a swing, right now…
Karla: Love Alessandra’s writing…Can’t wait!
Maryse: Me too!!! She’s pretty much one of my top 10 favorite authors. Maybe even top 5. Top 3? LOL!! Gah I love her!
Maryse: Oh it is SO worth choosing this as your next, my friends. It’s endearing. It has a bit of that “Hope Floats” feel but funnier… snarkier. There are just SO many facets to this one. From super-sexy, to super-sweet, to cocky, to hilarious, to heartfelt, to the cute “gift” he received.. OMG that! LOL!!!
Clare: 15 minutes to go, can’t wait!
Suzan: Was so excited to read then realized I had to wait FOREVER to get. Already one clicked it. Not really forever but feels that way when you are ready for a good book!!!! Lol
Suzan: Here’s to waiting forever with a pot of gold… err black Kindle at the end!!
Kiki: I devoured it in one sitting yesterday. Locked myself in and kicked everyone out! I love SOLE
Maryse: LOL!!! Definitely a new book boyfriend. Maybe my first in AGES!
Laura: Just 1-clicked it! Can’t wait!
Anyway, if you enjoy contemporary romance, this is a MUST READ!!! It’s got all that southern charm, but with very “today” characters. And even if it’s not your thing right now (I know many are paranormal and fantasy fans) this is one of the best (at least so far).
Its finally here! Starting right now 😀
I can’t wait to try this one. Right now I am STILL trying to finish Hold On by KA. I will definitely try to get that done today between company and BBQ-ing? Maybe not!
MichelleS did you ever finish Heart Shaped Hack?
I have not tried this author yet, so maybe with this one.
I wish I’d clicked on the Girl in 6E, when indie.
No, Maryse, I didn’t. I might go back to it though. It gets good reviews still. It must have been my mood. Did you??
And now I’m squirreling from Sweet Dreams. See what ya did, Maryse?? 😛
Bev..I didn’t care for her book Dumont diaries, but I LOVED Tight and I have high hopes for this one as well. 😀
Yes, see what you started, Maryse. *shakes head*
No MichelleS me either, and for the same reasons as you…
maybe we’ll continue together? Buddy-read it and see?
LOL!!!!
No squirreling Amy!!
But this one might be worth the squirrel, but I love Sweet Dreams SO much..
P.S. I’m a HUGE fan of this author (I’ve read a bunch) and while I didn’t go crazy over Dumont, I did love EVERY thing else so far that I’ve read. But I still have to read The Girl in 6E.
I just wasn’t looking for psych-thrillers back then… Now though, that one totally sounds up my alley!
*whiny voice* But…but…I wanna squirrel ’cause this sounds so FUN! And y’all are havin’ fun without me! Now I feel like this…
I know, I’ve loved her books so far as well (with the exception of Dumont Diaries), and my favorite is definitely Tight followed closely by Black Lies. Apparrently I have Blindfolded Innocence, Masked Innocence, Girl in 6E and Do Not Disturb sitting and waiting for me, so at some point I went on a Torre buying spree, LOL!
Amy let’s read Girl in 6E together whenever you’re ready. I really want to read it bad and I have it too…
Amy, that’s one of the books sitting in my library stack, lol.
I apparently bought the first in the Diaries series.
Hey, know what Amy & MichelleS really want to buddy read? Like really really? Written in Red.
*sticks peanut butter in their mouths*
LOL!!!!
😛
What??? You’re shoving peanut butter in my mouth for WiR? First, I’ve read all three (minus any hanky panky, if you recall)… And you killed Simon. So take back your peanut butter!!!
I think the peanut butter was supposed to be for me…
😉
MichelleS… Maryse… pretty close. 😉
Blech!! Whath wat thath fohr?? I alweathy reath Writhen in Wheth!!!
*phthooey* At least use the crunchy or honey peanut butter. Geez. 😛
YES Maryse…I’m in for a 6E buddy read! 😀
Seriously, MichelleS, you make me laugh.
The pb was to keep you from telling Maryse you & Amy already read it, lol.
Over 40% into my book. Whoot! This is what I like about a series. The comfort of a re-read but something new.
Ok. So that didn’t work.
Lol.
You know…
with all of this extra peanut butter… and peanuts these days, I’m going to bake some peanut butter cookies tonight.
I TOTALLY am. Who wants peanut butter cookies?
Yes, please.
And a cold glass of milk.
Doesn’t matter how old I get, cookies & milk are still such a pleasure. 🙂
Wow this book sounds really good! Maryse is the feel a bit like Love Unscripted by Tina Reber ?
Just finished Thrones of Glass.
It does have that Love Unscripted feel! Yes… but not AS angsty…
however there is a twisty secrety thing.. 😉
Are ya gonna push a Hershey’s kiss in the top of each cookie while they’re still warm?? Because that is freaking delicious! And I’m with Bev…we’re never too old for cookies and milk.
A twisty secrety thing, eh? Well now, it wouldn’t be an Alessandra Torre book without that. 😉
I am 14% in and I really love Alessandra’s writing. And poor Cole! Having to find his wife like that 🙁
Hey I’m in to BR Girl in 6E.
I did read all the “Innocence” books and I’m getting a kick that the divorce attorney that Cole hired is Brad De Luca the H from that series!! 😉
I DECLARE THIS BOOK ALMOST PERFECT (with a slight *hump* in the middle that was still plenty good) and I declare this author in my TOP 3 favorites of all time. I’ve read so many from her that I loved, so she is absolutely one of my “FAVORITE” favorites.
Wait until you guys meet Cocky, and the paper bags. OMG the paper bags.
And the twisty reveal.
LOL!!! Best book ever! One of ’em anyway. 😉
SLUMP? THIS!!!!!!
Oh!!! In case you were wondering… 5 stars. Absolutely!! :D!!!!!
Cheryl!!!!
THAT is where I recognized his name from… YES!!!! I was thinking why do I know Brad? HOW CLEVER IS SHE?!! LOL!!!
Like…..whoa!
So, maybe forget the WiR for right now. You know until you want something totally different or read something totally sucky, yeah?
Don’t worry Bev. She probably is. Remember what she was reading right before?
Tessa, I refuse to believe it. She just visiting, she’ll be back. Just give her sad puppy face.

She just finished one of the Best Books Ever. Nope, give her Angel Droid Happy Bot first. Or something equally bad. (That should be a book. Don’t you think it’d be an awesomely bad book?)
Tessa, how about this one?
https://smartbitchestrashybooks.com/reviews/ravished-by-the-triceratops/
Tessa, Angel Droid Happy Bot sounds like a real bad translation, lol.
ROFL That book sounds awesome.
Okay, I admit, I’m reading Hollywood Dirt. I’m only 12% in so far.
I just met Cocky!!! LMAO!! This book is so great! And I need to read the Innocence series next! Brad is great!
Bev thanks you just scarred me for life lol
Sorry, Anne, lol.
Almost done with Who Buries the Dead. Now glad I held off on reading it sooner as just what I needed. But there was an ongoing story line that just ended in a way I’m not happy with, though happy with the book.
LOL Tessa and bev… you guys are cracking me up so hard!!!!!!!
*whispers so as not to wake anyone up*
I finished a book! Its been like two weeks since I’ve done that. 🙂
Now I just have to deal with five hours of sleep. But I finished.
*steals one of Maryse’s cookies* for midnight snack & sweet dreams <—-
*cough cough* Amy.;-)
COCKY…His baby… LOL!!
I FINALLY finished Hold On. For Bev – pretty much a total KA book. Kidnappings, murder in the past, major alpha-ness, that KS “speak” throughout, a sweet kid… best part? The amazing epilogue that wrapped up a bunch of story lines from the other books in this series, since this is the last Burg book. That part was sweet. I had just forgotten who was who.
One of the best ever, huh, Maryse? SOLD!!!! On to Hollywood Dirt. (And I was just about to start Throne of Glass).
AH DANG! Did I forget to mention that I made the mistake of starting another book after Hold On? And now I am supposed to squirrel? I’m not sure if I can!!! It’s called The Syrian Virgin. I’m a little obsessed right now with this book. It’s written by a man (not my usual choice) and it has really sucked me in.
She’s a teen who escapes Syria to the US. She is young and sheltered. She finds herself attracted to two older men (safe, unattainable). One is her Columbia professor-Manhattan’s most eligible bachelor, and the other is a Syrian PhD student who wants to help with the effort to aid the Syrian Christians. Some heavy stuff…. but I am so into this story!!!
Oh – and average rating on GR is 4.41 – which is pretty good!!!
Oh that sounds goooooood MichelleS!
Thanks MichelleS, I’ll probably read it at sometime. I’ve seen that everyone loves that epilogue.
Maryse, I know mentioned it before, but since you love the twist you have to watch Sherlock. If you haven’t. So fun and twisty. Great great writing and production. Fun to try and figure it all out. Also, only 9 episodes that make up the 3 seasons. And you know, Cumberbatch, best voice ever.
bev… Sherlock is it a recent series on TV?
*covers ears*
La la la…not squirreling from Sweet Dreams…la la la…going to avoid Maryse’s review…la la la…
Hehehe Amy. No squirreling allowed, you’re right. I’m at 35% right now.
*grins* And I met Cocky.
Just finished The Husband’s secret and loved it. Now I’m starting this, so excited….love this author!
MichelleS The Syrian Virgin sounds good! Checking it out now 🙂
Just finished reading Hollywood Dirt. I did enjoy it but wish the HEA had happened a little sooner. With a book this long, I would have liked not quite so much “angst” and a little more of them together. But overall loved it.
Always glad to add another book to the TBR list! This one sounds great!
Just finished it and loved it!
No list from Maryse today? I feel incomplete…..
Me too! I keep checking but it’s not there…
Finished and it was really good. The writing did stand out, though the end seemed too rushed for me. I wanted it a bit longer.
The list is there now.
Finished! I loved it! I agree with Tessa though. The ending was a little rushed but overall it was a great read. Highly recommend it!
Oh and I loved Cole’s relationship with Cocky. It was so sweet!
First line Thursday:
“To My Dearest, with mere words, how do I tell you about the destruction of everything in my young life – all that I loved and lived for?” The Syrian Virgin, by Zack Love.
I admit, I have actually moved on to the second (and final) book that wraps up Anissa’s story, called Anissa’s Redemption. I just HAD to know what happened.
Ok first time signing in..
Loved Hollywood Dirt…wonderful writing..finally in a long time, a book i couldn’t put down..thanks for the
Great recommendation ..
YAY Janice!!! This makes me so happy. 🙂 *hug*
Hey Maryse… just finished the book & I really love it! I actually have to cancel an appointment ‘coz I can’t stop reading it. “Sole” for the win!
Maryse
