Happy Friday everyone!!! Books have been keeping me company this week and changing my headspace from the horrible mess-up I did on my cute new table I just bought… Wanna hear what I did? I posted about it on Facebook… (and got lots of moral support, clever ideas, and of course, laughs – because I mean… who DOES that? ME. That’s who). 😛 Okay, so…
That one time, when you get a cute wood side table from Amazon and you build it. And you’re so proud!!! And it looks so good and matches everything. And you stand there and beam at it.
Then… a couple of days later, you (mistake #1) drop something on it, and it messes the finish just a little bit. GASP!!! It’s BARELY noticeable but not perfect, and you like perfect, and can fix it, right? RIGHT! 
So you try and fix it, and (mistake #2) you make it SO much worse, and now… a part of the finish is missing. GONE. 😫 It’s still not the end of the world, but noticeable and you’re sure if you had the right products, you can bring it back… to original.
And then you buy “finish markers” and try (mistake #3) and fix it, and try and try and OMG it’s too dark and there’s a ring where the original finish SUCKS IT RIGHT IN, and you take it all off and try again and it just got bigger… and now, it looks like a toxic waste zone. <— click it to see what it looks like now (and yes, I am currently covering it with a place mat) 🤭😮🤬
Yeah. Don’t do that. Leave mistake #1 as is, and walk away. WALK. AWAY.

Robyn: I’m rereading JA Redmerski’s In the Company of Killers series. I am so in love with these books even though I’ve read them so many times. There is just something about assassins and their mates that hook me. I love this trope! We should make a list Maryse!
My other favorite assassin books are Lea Griffiths, No Mercy series. Annnnd….it just happens I messaged LG and the next book Kiss of the Blade is hopefully coming out in December if not January. I am beyond excited! SQUEEEEE! Annnnnd….I learned there will be a fifth book in the series! OMG! You guys have to read both these series, they are that good! I need more assassin books stat!

Maryse, I am so in love with your sunflower painting…its gorgeous! I did LOL over your story of your table. It’s so something I would do. I don’t know how you feel about paint finish vs wood but you could chalk paint your table top and it would cover the stain. Hubs has done several projects with chalk paint and it’s so easy. You dont even have to prime or sand the surface and it comes in so many colors.
I decided I needed a “sure thing” book and have been rereading Twilight. I’m on New Moon now and on the Italy part. Yay me!!! This is my fave in the entire series.
Yay for Twilight!! I was just telling my daughter something the other day and referred to Twilight and she said “What’s Twilight?” And I looked at her like she was crazy for a minute before I remembered she’s nearly 10 and hasn’t seen it yet. 😂 It’s one of those things you know, EVERYBODY knows about.
I also like chalk paint and I also like when a piece is half finished and painted.
I am in love with chalk paint! I have painted so many things including my entire bedroom set! So easy and fun! Lots of YouTube videos to get you started.
I love it too, Leslie. It makes me smile every time I look at it, and I have sunflowers on my dining table… so it’s whole theme. 😉
I’m still contemplating how I’m going to fix my mess (or… more like have my mess fixed, ’cause you see what happens when I try thing).

I LOL’d at your oopsie too! Maybe u could have beat it up in a few other places, give it that rustic look. I’m sure u could still work that in. Rub some of that darker stain in strategically, beat it with your keys a tad, make ART! 😉

I have just today left to finish cleaning and setting up for the party/sleepover. It’s suxh a struggle to really clean with the kiddos. A week long task, and I can only do 1-2 rooms at a time. The dust is nuts. Thankfully, since my last psycho cleaning spree (more de clutter spree) a lot of the bulk was out of the way. Just straightened things 1st. But since all I did was declutter last time, the dust is pretty bad and those annoying spider web pieces that hide in the corners of the ceiling or hang down a bit. So, bedrooms are all done! Both sets of stairs are done! The basement (kids side only, the other side is hiding some of my declutter waiting to be decluttered. It resembles the garage – read on) is done! Today is the kitchen/living room/both bathrooms and OMG the garage!! <- that 1 is really bad. I have 2 dressers, a changing table (cuz I’m clearing out dressers since I’ve got that new system) 6 bales of hay (for the party) Bikes and scooters galore, stroller, wagon, probably chalk, sticks, dirt, dirt, dirt in a single car garage. I want to set up a table in there for painting pumpkins. Which I have to clean yet. And some last minute shopping for things I forgot for mystery boxes. And cutting out bats for decor and picking up cupcakes and stopping at the pumpkin patch for stuff I forgot and *deep breath* Yea, I’m getting that latte. 😏
P.S. Rust Maidens is really good so far! I’m halfway. It’s weird, bc what’s happening is almost too easily accepted? I dk if that’s the right word. But it somehow works, bc the writing is so full of emotion for the main character. It’s not scaring me, but I’m all in bc I feel for her and I want to see what happens.
I psycho-cleaning spree’d my pajamas a few days ago. That was hard ’cause I’m a pajama addict, but in reality, I only really like maybe 5 or 6 pairs. So that means I whittled my pajama shelves down to about 20 sets.
*sigh*
Obviously even that could be whittled, but… baby steps. 😉
I need pajamas. Almost all mine are old, wrong size, and mismatched. No proper shirts, all my hubby’s or my Mom’s old stuff.
And now, I’M DONE!!!! 😁😁😁 Finishing touches tomorrow, but my house is completely clean, minus that side in the basement no one will see AND decorated and it’s gorg, if I do say so myself.

I will absolutely BE watching that!!!!! 😀
I think the movie is going to be in Spanish. I haven’t seen an English version, have you? I would also love to see Maryse create a list of Assassin’s novels because I absolutely loved the Killing Sarai Series and haven’t really seen any other series/novels like it.

I shouldn’t laugh about your adventures with the table, Maryse, but I feel you. We’ve all had that time when you make a little booboo then you try to fix it and it just gets worse instead. Eek. Oh my…I’ve messed up furniture that way before. Since I’m not exactly the best do-it-yourselfer, I have no tips or tricks but I really DO like the idea of the chalk paint.
