I’ve always loved the idea of taking fairytales and twisting them, but never really found time or reason with my current series of PNR. So, when I was asked to do Such Violent Delights (Holiday theme), I actually just finished doing Red Riding Hood for Monster’s Ball and decided to do another re-telling instead of trying to do something from my current PNR. I love Alice In Wonderland and decided how cool would it be if it was with holiday characters instead.
Well, jingle my bells, it pulled me down the rabbit hole! It was like it had been waiting for me to write it. The anthology was only 15-20K and I already pushed the limit and knew I was NO WHERE done with this story. Two books are done, but I am already thinking about a third. The sister’s POV with lots more fun holiday characters!
Five things you don’t know
- Scrooge was almost the “Grinch”.
- I wrote the first 10 chapters in Germany!
- I listened to Christmas music the whole time. For both books (6 months of tunes)!
- Had to cut out a character and save them for book 2!
I’m having a blast writing these and I have another anthology coming up at the end of the year, Puss in Boots…I’ll let your imagination take that where it wants to go. But it will be a setup, leading into another series I think readers will FLIP OUT about!
