Good morning and Happy Tuesday everyone!! Over 60 new books on today’s list and I highlighted a bunch that look extra good to me. 😀
Blurb jolts? Yep! Like… that one to the left Whatever It Takes (she’s the geeky good girl that’s related to the celebrity he hates), American Dirt (psych-thriller and the blurb alone made me eeeeep! She’s on the run with her son from the Mexican cartel when her husband exposes them in a tell-all – but the blurb says it so much better!!), Dream With Me (She’s at the museum and bumps into the grumpy artist), A Long Petal of the Sea (wartime historical, and she’s pregnant and has to marry the brother of her dead husband – this one sounds AMAZING), Riven Knight (Devney Perry’s latest! Judge tells her she’s married to the broken stranger…), Mythomania (she’s a fan of a K-Pop group, and one of the members becomes obsessed with her in a delusional way…)

Good morning! Lots of goodies that blurb jolted me too. I will probably wait til they come out on audio though.
Maryse, I am so excited you are into audio now. Isn’t it the best?? I really love the “matchmaker” thingy as you can purchase audiobooks for $1.99!!! I don’t buy a lot of books, but audios for that price I cant resist.
I didnt have a chance to chime in on yesterday’s plant convo. I have been desperately trying to grow houseplants for a while. I’ve killed lots of aloe (first I over watered, then I under watered) but I have two babies now that I think are doing ok. I’ve also killed a few peace lilies but managed to keep one alive almost a year but it doesnt have any blossoms. I got a few baby spiders last spring that are now big and doing ok. *fingers crossed* I am most excited about my bromeliad and pilea that I am propagating. The bromeliad had 4 babies and I am hoping they blossom this spring. My pilea has 5 babies I just replanted. I can’t wait til end of May-ish when its warm enough for me to plant another herb garden.
YESSSS!! I think Daisy was the way to go to initiate me. I’m hooked on it and I’ve got 4 hours left with no sign of stopping.
I’m tempted to get American Dirt in audiobook right now. That one is calling me hard.
And YAY on the so-far-so-good bromeliad success. Those are actually kind of hard. I’ve tried a few times… I keep rotting them out at the base.
Those pilea plants are super attractive to me. I love the look of their leaves. Good luck raising all those babies! Pothos is still my most successful, but there’s another one that I have that I have no idea what it is that’s been here a long time. It’s actually my 2nd though, the 1st was around a long time before it died too. I’m going to have to ask my stepdad (he gave it to me) it never really grows, but it’s living so I call that a win! Lol
And *whispers* my crocodile fern and cylindrical snake plant have lived since my vacation in August. *nods* Making strides over here. I knocked on wood bc my plants like to prove me wrong.
Wait, audiobooks for $1.99?? What is this?
Ohhhh wait!!! I forgot about the $1.99 audiobook matches to our ebooks. I’m gonna try it right now since I haven’t in awhile… 😀
Diana… the “Matchmaker” link is up there in the post, in the audiobooks section. Click it and it will show you audiobook deals for ebooks you already have. 😀
OH YAY!! I already just found “When I Was You” by Minka Kent for super-deal since I have the audiobook. I love that author and I love psych thrillers and now I get to listen to it.
Last Day by Luanne Rice too!!!
Happy release day! Omg American Dirt sounds SO GOOD! Major blurb jolt on that one. And I still want to read Gwendy’s Button Box. That was a goal of mine for 2019 and I didn’t make it, but this is a good reminder. Maybe I can read it here in 2020. I got a different book last night and started it. I know I said I was gonna start 1 of a couple others, but I was reading samples while waiting for things to settle down so I could get into something and I just couldn’t stop laughing, so I got Would Like to Meet by Rachel Winters and it’s really fun, I’m loving it. But, I’m gonna try to be super talented and read another book at the same time because I got a surprise arc and it always gives me an actual push to accomplish those books. It feels like I’m completing an assignment from school. *snort*
Right?? It’s expensive book-wise right now, though I do have audiobook credits which is why I was considering going that route…
Keep us up to date on the laugh-out-loud book please!! 😀 I love a good happy fun book.
House plant talk… the only thing I’ve been able to keep alive is that Mother-in-law-tongue plant. Until they get really big, then they start to fall over.
Went to Wal Mart in search of dwarf rubber tree. I found one! But… it was 14.96 and it was only about two feet tall. I feel robbed. I hope I can keep it alive.
YAY Michelle!! It’s a bummer that Walmart prices are all over the place… they won’t even price-match their own stuff. But two feet is a good solid start, and these are EASY!!!
And I think it’s a dwarf umbrella tree… though I’d love to have a rubber tree!!! I have no clue how hard those are yet. Yet… being the key word. 😉
I’ve not yet made it to Walmart. I’d like to try and go Friday, the kids still have gift cards they want to use too.
I have a spider plant still on order from a local flower shop, I’ve been waiting nearly a month. 😒 But if Walmart doesn’t have it here, I’ll try and order one. Last I checked, there was no spring stuff like that, but it’s been a while.
Where is Bev? I saw K-pop mentioned in one of those books!!
Has anyone seen Cheer on Netflix? It’s not something I’d normally choose to watch, but it’s really fascinating.
Okay I’m going to start it tonight. I keep seeing it but I wasn’t sure I was in the mood for a reality documentary type thing… but I keep seeing how addictive it is. So I’m in!!! I’ll work on my blog as it plays. Two birds with one stone.
Speaking of birds, Birdy is still not enthused with his cage. It’s like he can fly up no problem to all the different branches, he’s just afraid to fly down to the different branches to reach all the levels. So he get’s stuck up high. And I mean… I have branches ALL OVER it with ropes and everything so he doesn’t have to full-on fly anywhere and he still paces and tries to figure out how to fly down.
😬 I don’t know a whole lot about birds and it stresses me when I dk what’s going on with any of my animals or how to help, so I’d be all over the internet and ask an expert for peace of mind. Maybe there’s just an adjustment period and it’s normal.
My Mom’s bird (sun conure) has been in the same cage all her life. She’s 14 and some time ago she laid an egg and it tore stuff down there and my Mom freaked (she’d never laid an egg before) so I called the vet. We live in a small town so they referred a vet that actually had experience with birds a ways away and I took her. It was this whole huge thing and she still lays eggs and her feathers aren’t as pretty anymore and she stresses easy, but now she knows what to look for and how to help her n such.
Do you cover the cage ever? It can be calming.
I cover it every night between 8 and 9pm and uncover at 7 to 7:30am
Tell me what you think of the show! I’m so into it, I’ve been stressing all night waiting to get back to it cuz they’re so close to competition time (the big 1) and I wanna know if they’ll make it!! I feel so bad for all those injured. I close my eyes every time someone falls.
The injuries FREAK. ME. OUT!! I think I’m on episode 4 or 5 right now. I like that the sweet boy that was never in the top 20 is being properly considered. She just encouraged him to take his place (not just that one fluke time that he got them ALL on choreography perfect).
I LOVE HIM THE MOST!! Though I can’t remember his name. He is such a joy. LOVE!!!
Jerry!! Jerry is the heart of the team. I love how he motivates everyone on the mat. You only have 1 or 2 episodes left then, eeep!! Just wait till the end. Afterwards, I looked it up to see what ppl had to say and found the best article, I’ll send it to u after u finish. And then I properly stalked their instas. 🤣 I’d totally be up for a season 2, I’ve even convinced the hubby to try it out.
OMG I’M SO NERVOUS!!!!! I’mw watching episode 6 and they just went out on stage… it’s their turn in Daytona!!!!!
AND YAY JERRY!!! And all the sweet hugs and words of encouragement before they started.
GASSSSSSP!!!!!!!
GAH!! I’m still so in love with it, I need season 2! And I’m totally waiting on an author to write this trope. Give me a Friday Night Lights like cheer novel, ooooh wouldn’t that be good? I hope someone is inspired. 😂😂
One think broke my heart big time though… I don’t want to say it since it’s at the end so it would be a spoiler.
Ok, Maryse and fellow book junkies I need help finding a book I’ve been looking for off and on for months. A bb loving tomboy moves to a new poor neighborhood and school and has a run in with the boys who play basketball in her neighborhood park. I think that her fam had recently lost a bunch of money? But maybe not. I can’t remember much, but she wants to play and they won’t let her. Hence why I need to read it again! hahaha HS enemies to lovers or bully book IIRC? Does this ring any bells?
Hi Diana!!!
I just posted your reader question, and I submitted a guess too!! 🙂 Keep an eye on it and let us know if you see the right guess.

😀
R., I made your Morrocan chicken tonight. It was delish! The only way my kids (and me) will ever eat raisins now is cooked. I did have to use Pinot Noir bc I didn’t have the Marsala wine, but I think it worked out fine. Thanks!
My grandmother used to cook raisins and lemons as a side dish and she served it with her homemade chicken and dumplings. For years she tried to teach me but I was a kid and could’t care less. Now she’s gone and so are both of those recipes! I’ve searched for a raisin recipe that’s similar but nada!
That sounds so good, Robin. Grandma recipes are the greatest. My grandma used to make the best, lightest sponge cake in the world, with cream in the middle and passionfruit (grenadilla) icing on top.
They really are! I lost so many recipes when she passed. I really wish she would have forced me to help her!
That’s a really unique combo! It’d be interesting to try. I’m grateful my aunt learned all of my Grandma’s tricks and passed some on to the Grandkids. My Mom was a rebel and refused to learn. Which is why I’m internet taught, with a little step-Mom help and Aunt and such.
Ok I’m jumping on the band wagon. Release by Aly Martinez… Wow what a story! You guys need to read it. It has a twist you won’t even see coming….. It’s a must read. So good.
Okay that does it!! I’m starting it. 😀
