Morning! 🌞
Someone has to guinea pig Even if it Hurts by Marni Mann for me. 😉 I’m actually surprised that none of the “crew” read ARC as it seems right up everyone’s angst alley.
I’m trying to take advantage of my 3 months of discounted KU membership. I still have a little over a month left. KU does have a lot of good romance books but not too many with free audio. I have to find a way/app to have my phone read me my kindle books. I can have alexa do it on my echo device but I cant figure out how to have alexa app on my phone do it.
Ok, off to grocery store and trying to figure out meals for week. Happy reading!!
Right? And I hear good things about her books too, and that one sounds like my ultimate heartache kind. The one where I’ll eeeeeep the whole way through.
Trust me…if I’d seen an ARC for it, I would have snagged it!
I added it and hit the one click button – so hopefully I’ll get to it soon!
I just downloaded a sample of Rules of Engagement. It’s KU, tho not sure whether there’s the free audio.
Happy Tuesday! I stayed up waaaay too late last night finishing Release (finally!). Last week’s post and everyone’s feedback finally convinced me to dig in and I’m so glad that I did!
Nothing on this week’s list is calling me at the moment but I’ll go through it again after a few more cups of coffee. (This could also be directly related to the guilt of my failing NY resolution to get through at least two more books that I purchased – not on KU – last year but never read…sigh.)
YAY!!! Did you love it Colleen? I’m hoping to finish it tonight. 😀
I did! I love Aly Martinez’s stuff so I knew it would be good…it just took me a while to get sucked in. I can’t wait to read your review, Maryse!
I could not get into it. So put it down for awhile and maybe Maryse’s review will get me going again. And I usually love her books.
Oh forgot….I read CREDENCE BY PENELOPE DOUGLAS. I enjoyed it but it was a little strange. If someone else has read it I would like to know your reaction to it. I absolutely love BIRTHDAY GIRL and some of her others.
****SPOILER***
It was like birthday girl on drugs.
Hey Maryse, I’m checking in! Fashion Jungle was really good – a lot going on – but an enjoyable read! I also really liked Firecracker by Kelly Jamieson! She did a nice job with it – great story about a widow finding her way after she lost everything…
I’m looking forward to getting my hands on Even If It Hurts, Rules of Engagement, Heartland and several others up there. What a great release week!!
You convinced me to give Firecracker a go. Thanks, Michele!
Colleen, I hope you like it as much as I did!!
Michele G there IS a lot going on. The 4 girls but also their mates and helpers and… it’s a bit convoluted for me right now, but I’m hoping to find the rhythm soon.
Truly, I felt like it could have been more than one book…there’s that much activity. However, I don’t know exactly how they would have broken it up…which is probably why there is only one book…lol.
Ok, I had to fight tooth and nail to get reading time with this book and now, I’ve finished! Whooop!! 🤣 I got this arc with a week till release and you know me, it’s had for me to read a book in crunch time. I started it, was THRILLED from the get go. I was even telling my daughter, like a ghost story teller, the very beginning. She was freaked, but super into it. Lol. Don’t worry, I didn’t go too far. 😉 Anyway, I tried so hard to get more than 10 min. at a time and it is definitely a page turner. I went to bed at 1am last night with only 30% left and finished it a little bit ago and it is soooo good. I liked it a lot more than The Chalk Man (same author). There is no lull to the book at all. I kept questioning what was going on, where was it going to go? There were several surprises throughout but more than that, I felt for the characters. I felt their grief, their desperation, their anger. And I was angry too. Highly recommend this one. (The Others by C.J. Tudor) ☺️
Also, I dk how you guys keep up here with arcs and what not. Whew. I love it, but it’s a struggle.
Hey, now that my face is out of my book, I see that The Invited by Jennifer McMahon released today. I’m a sucker for a ghost story/haunted stuff, though I haven’t read many, they’re so intriguing.
Maryse,
Did you see Sarah Latchaw has put the final book of Hydraulic series up for pre order?
Fourteeners, releasing Feb 14th.
I can now start reading the series 😀
This is such great news. Even though I hate cliffhangers her first two books are written so well and addictive that her final book is sure to be a winner. Can’t wait. Sarah Latchaw needs to quit her real life and become a full time writer.
Thank you so much Rochelle and Ria!! I just added it to the upcoming releases and to the series reading order guide. 😀 I’m excited to devour this trilogy. I plan on it making my best of 2020 list. 😀
I can vouch for it too! I inhaled the first two books. I don’t remember there being any kind of a cliffhanger (actually I remember thinking it worked as a duet), but regardless, I’m excited the third is finally releasing!
I’m super excited! I know it wasn’t a major cliffy…but I remember feeling like it just wasn’t quite complete.
I’m loving the list today. Have already started Heartland. I liked the rest of the True North series and this one looks good too. The Mona Shroff one isn’t available on kindle Australia though (yet) 🙁
Sharing a song I just listened to that gave me the feels https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=utXz08ICZg4
She has a hauntingly beautiful voice!
Yea, I love her voice. You can’t help but be drawn in…..I first heard her on a snake cartoon on Netflix and looked up the song. 🤣🤣 But then, the lyrics are so emotional. I’ve now listened to both Maybe and Now and Then and I love the story telling, so raw.
Wow! I’m loving her! She would’ve been perfect for my playlist!
Love her voice. Beautiful song. Love it when I hear a new artist. Almost as good as a new author!
It’s been so quiet here lately….
I made brussel sprouts for the first time today! They were super easy and delicious. I went back and looked up the recipe on the food post. I’m so tired of cooking and DISHES, but I’ll never tire of eating and my food is better than the take out local (we’re very limited here, lol). Now, I’ve been out of sweets for a bit and I’m trying so hard to refrain from going to the grocery with the sole purpose of purchasing loads of sugar.
I bought American Dirt a little bit ago after I read an article about the publisher canceling the author’s book tour bc she’s getting death threats. I’ve vaguely read some of the controversy, but I’m not judging anything until I read it myself. And even then, I’m the most non confrontational person, I can’t see myself caring about dynamics as opposed to the feelings a story provokes.
I’d like to finish 1 more book for the month of January and then I’ll have read 4 (4!!) books in 1 month. Looking back at last year, I start off great and then slowly deplete as the months wear on. So I’ve gotta hit it in February and March too! My short list is- 1 of Colleen Hoover’s (Regretting You or IEWU), Blake Crouch’s Recursion, Susan Fanetti’s Carry the World, My Dark Vanessa, All the Star’s and Teeth, Sarah J. Maas’ new one, The Simple Wild, Never Have I Ever, and whatever I choose from Book of the Month. And arcs. Not a lot though, I’m not that cool. 😜
What’s on YOUR short list?? What should I add to my mental list?
Also, show wise- I’m totally watching Little Fires Everywhere come March (eeep! trailer looks awesome) and finishing YOU season 2. To All the Boys in February. What’re you watching? ☺️
I’m voting for IEWU (I read both of those and IEWU is my fave hands down!) and A Simple Wild.
Love Brussels sprouts! Eat them almost weekly!
And I want to watch that too! The reviews on the book are so so but the show looks great!
That’s what I’ll read then. *nods*
I read Little Fires Everywhere. It didn’t blow my socks off, but it wasn’t awful either. The show on the other hand, looks thrilling.
