HAPPY TUESDAY!!!! IT’S READY!!! Time to build today’s list and I already have a bunch of awesomeness on here! One from Amy Harmon and one from Kristen Ashley (her Fantasyland series!!) AND!!! One from S.C. Stephens (Kellan’s POV OMG!!!!!!!!! *thud* <— I fainted). Plus an amazing sounding one from Danielle Steel (a model who’s now scarred…) Consider this a preview of my blurb jolts. LOL!
Okay… off to book-searching I go, so keep checking back while I fill this post up with blurb jolty-things! 😀
BLURB JOLTS:Gossamer in the Darkness: A Fantasyland Novella by Kristen Ashley (parallel universe!! Arranged marriage? Yes please!) Double Vision (real estate agent meets a ghost in her kitchen!!) Go Hex Yourself (she applied to become a witch… but she thought she was applying for a “gaming thing” LOL!!) The Unknown Beloved (because we love Amy Harmon’s writing and the reviews are incredible!) Drop Dead Gorgeous (she dies, and just as she’s about to cross the pearly gates, a bully jumps in front of her and takes her spot – THAT JERK!!!) Rattle Some Cages (he finds her next to her dead best friend after a storm…) Painful by S.C. Stephens (uhhhhh Kellan Kyle!! Enough said!) The Reluctant Bride (arranged marriage to a brooding, moody, angry man, but she’s angry too…) and last but not least, Beautiful: A Novel by Danielle Steel (a famous model scarred by a terrorist attack and loses many of those she loves)…

READER RECOMMENDATIONS & BARGAIN FINDS:
It’s Kristen Ashley’s birthday month, and she put her Chaos series on sale!!! BIKER BOOKS!!
Cindy: Just finished Own The Wind by KA. It’s a spin off and focuses on Tacks daughter. It’s very good and definitely a biker book. And Tack makes several appearances. (Side note: I haven’t read all of KA but can I just take a second to say how awesome Play It Safe is!! Could be my fave along with Mystery Man)
Jessica: SHY CAGE!!! I love all of them but something about Shy and Tab just stuck with me. I could reread Own the Wind 10x.
Tammy: Hopper from Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley, I love, love, love!
Kelsie: Fire Inside by KA. Can you ever get enough of her alpha male characters?
Amanda: Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley (I’m was a newbie to mc romances before this site, now I’m hooked!)
JulieO: RIDE STEADY AND WALK THROUGH FIRE are 2 of my favorites. Joker can ride into my dreams!
Ella: Joker from Ride Steady by KA! His back story is heartbreaking. …Ride Steady IS A MUST READ
Mindi: Walk Through Fire is my favorite MC book. I relate to Millie SO much and the way High (when not being a jerk) so unabashedly loves her makes me squishy inside. 🙂
Robyn: Walk through fire was great as are all of the books in that series! Reading Kristen Ashley books is like coming home.
Nay: So I finished Wild Like the Wind. It was super sexy. Hound is just..wow! He’s not Tack (there’ll NEVER be another Kane ‘Tack’ Allen), but he’s right up there. I SO agree with Julie O. The first third was really good and the last third was great, but the middle dragged at times.
I’ve figured out that in the Chaos books, the more the story takes place at the Compound and the more it includes Tack, the more I love it, which probably explains why I don’t think I’ll ever love any of them as much as I did Motorcycle Man. And every time Hawk, Knight or Lee, Hank or the rest of The Hot Bunch have cameos, that’s a major bonus!
Jen: Free by Kristen Ashley. Love Rush and Rebel!
Robyn: Free by Kristen Ashley…loved it, great wrap up of the series

Hi Maryse, congratulations on the move! My daughter and I are vacationing in Clearwater this week. Do you have any recommendations on restaurants in this area?
Hi Stacy!
I’m not that familiar with Clearwater (except for the beach) but if you make your way to Anna Maria Island (and that area – also super-beach gorgeous) there is the Salty Dog (fast food-type of a place but by the water and yummmmmy hot dogs).
And also The Sandbar (I LOVVVVVVVED THIS PLACE). I had the best ceviche ever, there, and we were at a table on the sand by the water. It was INCREDIBLE. HUGE LONG WAITS though… well worth it.
I just finished Unknown Beloved this weekend and it was so very good. I loved the characters – perfect blend of history (based off true people/events), intrigue, suspense, romance. This kind of had everything, plus Amy Harmon’s talent. I was sad when it was all over – but just because it was over, not because it was sad.
I love that feeling when you become so immersed in a book or TV world that it is almost hard to leave.
I felt the same way Lisa! Her writing is just that good!!
I’m going to vent a little bit. Lately I have begun to see a trend that is frustrating. On some newly released books, you have to click on the link at the end of the book to get an epilogue or extended epilogue. This means clicking on the link, and then having to download it from Book Funnel. The book I just read released 3 weeks ago. The epilogue was essential to the closing of the story. I don’t understand why it couldn’t have just been included in the original book. To all of those authors, I love epilogues and finding out how the characters faired a year of few years down the line. Sorry for my rant.
I know many authors offer bonus chapters via book funnel to get newsletter subscribers. I was not aware they did this for essential chapters (epilogues). I think it’s just the indie market right now. Authors are desperate to compete for sales. It’s disappointing all the way around.
I love finding out how the characters evolve after “The End”. And I do appreciate the authors taking the time to write an epilogue. I almost didn’t click on the link for the epilogue:( But I am glad I did.
I don’t mind it if it’s an additional epilogue, but I’ve come to expect the standard epilogue to be part of the book itself, unless everything is resolved in the last chapter.
On a happier note, 15 year old daughter has been begging me to watch Anne With an E (based on Anne of Green Gables). I watched the first episode and absolutely loved it. So beautiful. It got cancelled after 3 seasons but so hoping it will be renewed!
How does everyone think there reading year is going so far?
I love the fact that I’m wanting to read so much, that I have to remind myself that I do need sleep. This in itself makes it a wonderful reading year. But i haven’t read anything that I’ve fallen in love with yet.
Mine is crap. I’ve read 6 books so far and nothing has really wow-ed me. I think I’m turning into Leslie, who BTW, needs to pop in one of these days!
She does. I hope that everyone who used to be here regularly are doing well.
Is there a specific genre or trope you want right now?
My dream book right now is a well written, professionally edited, first person (preferably present tense), old school, SWOONY romance with an HEA that will gut me before it heals me. Easy peasy, right? 😆🤣
That is hard, especially because books are not always tagged for pov, editing, or what tense they are written in.
It can sometimes be hard to get a read on the emotional pull of a book too. Some people love and deeply feel things that I just find annoying or angst for angst sake.
I have no idea if they fit but know many are really into the Flock trilogy.
Also, I know people love Kennedy Ryan and have heard her books can pack a punch. I have se on my tbr that I finally want to get too. I think she has the hero pov though.
I can always check the sample for tense/pov, but you never know about editing or feels until you get into it.
I WANT THIS!!!!!!!!!!
I know!! Find it for us Maryse! We need another Mists of the Serengeti!!
I think as far as how much I’ve loved of the books I read this year thus far, my year has been pretty great. More loved than just ok books for me. I do wish I could read a little more, especially right now. But, that’s to be expected and I (mostly 😂) accept it. I’d like to get in another 2 books before the end of the month, but I’m doubtful. May has some great looking releases and I want to be caught up on a little I’ve bought so I can justify more purchases, lol!
My reading year is going so/so at the moment. I’ve had a few books knock it out of the park for me. My #1 at the moment is Reminders of Him from Colleen Hoover. That one is still with me. I also really enjoyed Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score. Great banter and chemistry between the H/h and great secondary characters.
Someone on here recently recommended The Confidence of Wildflowers by Micalea Smeltzer and it was pretty fantastic too! Definitely didn’t want to put it down. Reminds me a little bit of The Naked Fisherman Duet. It does have a pretty big cliffhanger, but luckily book 2, The Resurrection of Wild Flowers, is out. This series definitely had me in my feels and had me in tears. Have a tissue handy.
Thanks for mentioning The Confidence of Wildflowers. That might be exactly what I’m looking for!
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy it! It was one of those books that I didn’t go into with any expectations, but was pleasantly surprised by how great it was! Love it when that happens!
Yes, Cristina, I agree! Confidence of Wildflowers and Resurrection of Wildflowers, so good!
You might have been the one to recommend it! If so, thank you! I loved it! 🙂
I’m reading quite a bit. A wide range. So far, mostly rom-com, thriller romances, PNR, mafia, dark, rock, sport, New Yorker short stories, and of course books with men in suits on cover.
Two favourites so far are Darling Venom by Parker S. Huntington, and Lord of Population by Elizabeth Stephens.
There are some buzzy books I really want to get to and I’m curious if any of you have read any of them?
Seven Days in June by Tia Williams
Atlas Six by Olivie Blake
Then on YouTube some of the people I watch really love The Zodiac Academy by Caroline Peckham and The Twisted series by Ana Huang.
They all kind of sound fun to me. Inalmost want to put my current tbr aside and marathon them. I’m having one of those reader moments where I want to read it all and so can’t seem to settle on one.
I just finished a great book, Meet Me Halfway by Lilian T. James, a new to me author. It does come with a trigger warning for domestic abuse and sexual harassment, but the story actually takes place several years after the divorce and follows Madison, the 25 year old mother of an 8 year old son and her grumpy next door neighbor, Garrett. For having such a heavy warning, the story itself is witty and lighthearted. It says it’s the first book in the series but there is no cliffhanger and the second book appears to be about the bartender you meet in the first book. This was a 5 star read for me and it’s KU! I look forward to reading more by this author.
YAY MONA!! I just added this one to today’s Friday Finds list. This looks GREAT. I LOVE grumpy neighbors!! 😀 In books… always and only IN BOOKS. 😂
I’m going to DNF A Court of Thorns and Roses. It’s not bad, I can see why so many love it, but not for me. I am not staying engaged enough for such a long book with a series attached.
FLT: Ren Bergman is too damn happy. —Always Only You by Chloe Liese.
Hi bev and everyone *waves* I’ve been busy and haven’t popped in for a little while. Bev, I dnf’ed A Court of Thorns and Roses too. I know many love it, but I couldn’t get into it and I also felt the weight of the series might be just too much for me.
I’ve read a fair bit this year, but lots of rereads – I’ve been rediscovering some old favs. Some have stood up well to the test of time (e.g. Loretta Chase Not Quite A lady – still a lovely read) but others not so much. I feel a bit like I’ve grown past some of the PNR reads I used to love e.g. Nalini Singh’s psy-changeling shifter series just doesn’t hold the magic for me that it once did 🙁
I did recently read a couple of shifter books I liked though – Nightpiercer and the sequel Separated Starlight by Merry Ravenell. Must be read in order, and #3 won’t be out till about November 🙁 Werewolves and humans trapped together in space on arkships, while our damaged earth (hopefully) heals itself. 0_0 Sounds kooky, but I enjoyed the ride and look forward to #3.
Otherwise I’m in a bit of a book slump (hence the rereads!). I’m sad that Lisa Kleypas seems to be on a hiatus from writing at present. My fav HR author! I hope she is well and just taking a break from writing. Has anyone heard anything about her next new book?
Robin, I feel you. I want to read that dream book too LOL. The most recent CR I really enjoyed would be Just One Look by Rosalind James. A workaholic American surgeon moves to New Zealand and falls for a hot rugby player. But that came out in 2021!! Where is our new dream book, I ask you?????
bev, I haven’t done First Line Thursday in ages. I will play. My FLT:
‘Bloody hell. It hadn’t worked.’
from The Fortune Hunter by Diane Farr. I’m reading it for a goodreads challenge to try to clean up my tbr pile.
This is so funny because I was just thinking the other day that I should ask you about any Kleypas news if you popped in. 🤣
The only thing I’ve seen is she is re releasing two books in one this month.
I do have new to me HR authors I want to try this year. I made a kindle collection out of my library of some of my unread historical romances. I’m tempted to pick a month and just have a HR readathon.
I’ll have to look up the shifters in space, it sounds fun.
Cate C. Wells new shifter comes out tonight (hopefully) or tomorrow and probably going to jump right in. I’m not sure how to describe the first one, but I had a lot of fun with it.
