bev: Finished Carry the World. I had a lot of waiting times yesterday and then at the end of the day was just done and so all I did was read. So only 21 more to go.
I liked the book a lot and it was interesting to visit a time and place I don’t see as often. My only quibble would be to have seen the two leads more together during the first half of the book or during the forced proximity section. For such a long book it surprised me that some of that seemed more tell than show. But that is a personal quibble because I love a slow paced book that really lets you collect all the little interactions.
But it’s a long book and I basically read it in a day, so I did enjoy it a lot.

bev: I just saw a surprise baby rec video and it had a Samantha Towle book and he is a fighter. So, bringing it back to old school Maryse Book Blog. Anyway the heroine is saying how she didn’t accept money when she found out she was pregnant.
Now when I was younger I’d have cheered this on. Now I’m older and I’m always like take the money, get a sweet home for you and baby in a lovely neighborhood. No shame in that.

And read this CR and I really loved it. The Sex Surrogate by Jessica Gadziala. Yup, man & suit on cover. I think everyone should marry a guy like this! 😉☺️ 5+★

The heroine was in prison for some reason I can’t remember. Her daughter was taken away by child services. Now that she is free from prison, she needs a job. The hero’s mother hires her as a nanny for the kids despite knowing about the prison issue, but hero doesn’t know. They fall in love etc etc but hero finds out about the prison record and throws her out of the house. HEA After grovel. Side bar: the heroine is black while the hero is white.

I have a couple non fiction books going right now.
Also meant to read Throne of Glass but took a turn and now 40% into A Court of Thorn and Roses.
For the rest of April want to get to two more from my 22 in 22. I’m thinking Love From A to Z and Winter Garden.
Also, want to try to read A Notorious Vow by JoAnna Shupe and Always Only You by Chloe Liese.
But I’m thinking of diverting some of my reading time to catch up on some shows.
What shows are you wanting to catch up on? And I hope you had a good Easter too. Mine was just a packing weekend… but I was still able to play HGTV on in the background which kept me company.
The Carmen Jenner biker book had me checking it out because of the cover. 😳🤷♀️ BUT while I was looking into it I decided on another book by her called Welcome to Sugartown. The funny thing is I decided to listen to it because of a bad review. I was like ”you just described my perfect book!” So we will see! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!
Ohhh yesssss Aimee. I remember Welcome to Sugartown. There is a violent scene in that one that can really trigger some. Just sayin’ (that said… it was SUPER-popular back in the early-indie days… everyone loved it for the most part).
And of course I loved it!!
