I started reading From Blood and Ash by Jennifer Armentrout yesterday. I mean, very little accomplished, but it’s a start.
Find Layla sounds familiar, was it a prime first at one time?
When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole is out today. I’ve heard great things about this one, I’m dying to read!
A Rogue of One’s Own by Evie Dunmore releases, this was one of my BOTM, so I have a copy on the way.
The Unraveling of Cassidy Holmes by Elissa R Sloan makes me think of all the Brittany Spears drama. I have this one, just haven’t got the time.
You know what??? Now that you mention it, I THINK IT WAS an Amazon First reads and I think I chose it. Or I wanted to.
Oh and thank you for reminding me on this one: When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole (I’m adding it!!) 😀
😊 Speaking of prime firsts, what’s your pick this month? Honestly, I’m so into Halloween already, I considered getting the children’s book. But, I went with Roommaid. Sounds fun.
I picked that one also Tasha.
🙌🙌 I think it’ll be good, reviews look good. It’ll be a refreshing read for me, as I’ve not really read a romance like this in what feels like too long.
I got the Roommaid too!!! 😀
Yay!! Maybe we’ll read it together! 😃
I went with Roommaid as well! It sounds like a fun read.
That would be awesome!! 😀 Let’s!
I want in if there’s a BR for Roommaid 🙂
Let’s do it!!! 😀
Ok, I started it. I’m kinda crap at brs, but I’ll try to keep up.
Sicko is calling me! I know I’m in a biker frame of mind lately…still binging Sons of Anarchy…
I already read Yours to Keep by Lauren Layne. It was a feel good story where the hometown baseball hero returns home to recuperate from an injury. The heroine was quirky and fun – not at all what you’d see him going for which made it that much better!
The blurb…Had to grab this on as well!
D.G., Have you started it? I started it and before I knew it, I was at 30%…and of course, then I had to go to work. I guess insomnia isn’t a bad thing…lol. Anyway, curious to hear if you’ve read any of it yet or not.
Not yet…got hooked on Roommaid…but I will be starting it soon!
I just got My Dark Vanessa from my library and wow, the writing is fantastic. Several of my friends read it recently and had mixed reviews based on the subject matter, but I’m hooked just based on the author’s talent. I’m not that far in though and may run screaming when the plot gets going! 😆
I’m also listening to the Until the End of the World series narrated by Julia Whelan (my fave). This is another great audiobook Maryse if you still want suggestions!
R., the audio for My Dark Vanessa was very good also!
I DO!!! I’m working on the Friday Finds as we speak, so I’m adding you in!! 😀 Thank you. And yes, ELA screamed at me to read Dark Vanessa and I am dying to.
I feel Halloween/fall fever like crazy. What’re some of your most anticipated or just something you’ve been wanting to get to reads for spooky season? Or watches? And nothing that I won’t be able to watch in the dark by myself. 😜
Tasha, we have been watching Tyler Perry’s Boo and Boo2. It has been on TV so…maybe it is time for Fall….either way it is hilarious!
I love Tyler Perry, it’s been too long since I’ve enjoyed his humor I’ll check into these to see if I can stream, thanks!!
I just can’t wait for the Halloween cooking championships!! Anything Halloween on the cooking channel makes me so happy.
I wish I could get a candle from Yankee Candle (it was black) that I used to love like crazy (and the tarts too). it was called “Witches Brew” and it had like… a smokey/patchouli/fall leaves (*maybe even a touch of black licorice) smell to it. I know some might cringe at the patchouli, but it really did smell amazing burning as a candle. It smelled like fall to me.
Every single year I’d get it. And then…
They discontinued it, and I think their new version of “it” is just “black licorice” or something. I love that scent too, but I miss that woodsy depth. I’ll do a search and see if they brought it back at all.
I love patchouli, I use it in the diffuser, maybe I should do that tomorrow. 🤔 Thanks for the inspiration!
YAY!! My pleasure. BTW I found my “Witches Brew” candle and hopefully it has the same smell I remember (and not that new one they came up with). The description of the scent is promising!! I will let y’all know. 😉
Maryse!
I just finished listening to The Best Of Friends by Lucinda Berry. 5++++ stars!
The narration is great and such a great story…highly recommend!
I have not heard of this Author before and enjoyed this book so much I am now listening to The Perfect Child. I am only on chapter 6 and I am already sucked in…I can tell its going to be another great one!
I’m adding it to the Friday Finds tomorrow, Shirley!!! 🙂 Thank you SO much my friend.
Is it too early to set out my fall/pumpkin decor if it is 90 degrees outside??? Asking for a friend….
No, it’s not. *sips psl*
Yes, it is.
I was passing by a coffee shop the other day that was advertising their new pumpkin drink. It was 100 degrees and just…..no.
I’m one of those grumpy people who like the seasons to stay in their seasons. Like it bugs me that I can now buy peppermint creamer all year long. It was more special when I couldn’t.
OMG I LOVE peppermint creamer. If they have it in Keto version I will be in heaven.
Maybe my Angelino’s Coffee will make me a peppermint coffee. I would LOVE THAT.
I keep reminding myself that fall is official in about 3 weeks….
I hope you know I was joking. I mean I am grumpy about seasons (Halloween candy has been out for a month in one store) but I LOVE the fall and can totally see why people are ready to embrace it. I was actually “window” shopping sweaters and scented candles the other day and like I said itvis triple digits this week.
Bev! No worries! Living in Alabama, the only thing falling is some pine straw…LOL. So we truly have to “pretend” it is Fall once it rolls around on the calendar. We havne’t Hit triple digits..mercy, not sure I could handle that.
Starting Sicko tomorrow in my group read. Bracing myself…I understand this one’s very dark.
This from Jones in her forward…
“This book is different. This is “my level” of Dark Romance. It is dark. It will have you squirm in some places, but not in the way you’re probably used to or expect.
I didn’t water anything down. I wrote these characters as authentically as possible, because you, the reader, deserve that.
Please don’t take this warning lightly. These characters are like nothing I have written before, and this story is not one I’ve ever experienced.”
Yikes!
Have you started it yet, Mony??? So much buzz on this one!!!
Just saw that Red, White, and Royal Blue (a fantastic M/M read) is now on KU!!! I love this book! Also the Great Alone by Kristen Hannah as been added as well to KU.
OMG I LOVE THE GREAT ALONE!!!!
BEV, I did it!! I finished Mexican Gothic, FINALLY!!! Sorry I left you hanging for so long. I wasn’t sure what to think, to be honest anymore once I got to about halfway. I wanted to finish just to accomplish reading what I set out to read, not because it had me in its grips and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I was intruigued and curious as to how so many people ❤️d the book and how it truly terrified them. But, it was so slow going. Not boring, per se, just different. But boy, once I got past that halfway mark, when things really start picking up, I was disgusted. Truly grossed out. I couldn’t even snack while I read. 🙁 I can totally envision how they’re gonna put this on screen though, and I bet it’ll be awesome.
Not sure what to rate it, as it didn’t blow me away, but maybe if I’d have read it all together, it would’ve been sweeter, bridging over to the 2nd half.
I do think the pacing wa a little uneven. I liked the slow build in the beginning but then felt like the end was rushed while the middle was too slow.
I think some of the tensions could of been built up a little more, even after things were revealed.
Some of it creeper me out and some of it definitely grossed me out, but the reason for everything was a little too much for me.
But I liked our heroine and the partnership she made.
I liked it over all, it was just a little uneven. But I can see it adapted easily too.
Yea, I thought it pretty bizarre, the why of everything, but I truly wanted to gag my way through it. Lol
FLT
You see that girl right there? The one sitting in the cage? No, not that one – that’s a big Gorian rock worm.
