Good morning! What’s everyone reading? I have had a few duds lately but my current one seems decent. Withering Hope by Layla Hagen. I love plane crash/stranded type stories. But I am afraid of the tears as I saw in reviews that the epilogue is sad. 😢 I am also reading Roman Crazy by Alice Clayton but it’s a bit of a snoozer. I’m at 60% so no way am I dnf-ing now.
Off to get beef stew in crockpot.
I’m starting Crossed Lines by Lana Sky. Strictly her POV, forbidden and the comments readers are leaving here make it sound just TOO good.
I did roast, carrots, and new potatoes in the crock pot yesterday and my guys scarfed it all down in no time.
I was going to say I’d check out Withering Hope, but I guess I already read it and it wasn’t my thing. However, I don’t remember this book at all, so to make sure the GR goblins didn’t leave a review for me, I’m going to check out the beginning of it and see if I can refresh my memory.
I remember Withering Hope. I didn’t like it. The thing is, I read a book before it that I loved so much and it was a similar situation, so it didn’t live up to my expectation. And that’s the book I can’t remember! I think about it here and there, trying to figure it out, but the only one I remember is the one I didn’t like. 🤷♀️
Pot roast sounds good, btw. I’m maxed out on beef currently (had too much last week) but when the mood strikes again, I think I’ll make this too. It’s another run around night for me and I just put supper in the fridge to heat up later. I’m rarely on top of that game, though I should be by now. Crockpot chicken alfredo for us and it smells/looks so good. And not with jarred sauce! I’m always so proud when I put in the effort for homemade. Lol. 1st time with this recipe, I hope it’s a winner.
Oooh, if the alfredo turns out good, let me know. You always have good crockpot ideas.
I’m dying to know which “stranded” book you loved!!
Ahhhhhhh yummmmmmmm alfredo pasta yumminess that I miss so much!!!!!!!!!
I made a pepperoncini pot roast last week…that was yummy too. I also made an apple dessert thingy made with bisquick today. Double yum.
I HATE when the GR gremlins mess with shelves. It has happened to me a lot. It had marked as read AND rated books I’ve never even read.
Fingers crossed I continue to love Withering Hope.
I couldn’t get into Roman Crazy either. I DNF-ed it.
I WANT to DNF so bad but I dnf’d the book before this AND I’m too far into it now. I think it has that “too descriptive” writing that I don’t like and I’m bored. I’m glad I’m at least not alone in not getting into it.
Ugh that’s how I felt with Gretchen. I was CRAWLING through the end… and I was in the last quarter, and even when I hit 90% I was still crawling… but I could NOT DNF because I had come too far.
Good morning! 🌞
What a wonderful release day! There are so many books calling my name and fall is just around the corner–ain’t life grand?! ❤️️
It IS grand!!!! And I just got a cute little camera to take better pics of my Birdy!
Yay! Birdy pics!!
I can’t wait to see him, Maryse!
I wanna see Birdy!!!!
I was honoured with ARC’s for both Hit & Run by Freya Barker and Silver Brewer by L.B. Dunbar. I completely enjoyed both books. A great start to a new series for Ms. Barker with some fabulous new characters you are going to love. Ms. Dunbar has me intrigued and I am headed back to read the missed book of the series.
YAY!!!! Thank you for the feedback Pam!!! 😀
I finished You Can Have Manhattan. LOVED IT!!! Could not put it down!! Those are the best books!! Now I want to look at what’s books of hers I haven’t read yet & read them. Can’t take it when it’s a dnf & I’ve wasted my precious reading time!!
All the crockpot talk is making me hungry. I may have to make something in mine today!!
YAY Lisa!!!!! I love that author. 😀
Hello Strangers!!! Sorry I’ve been MIA lately, just really busy and work is kicking my butt lately!
Anyway, I’m 50% through You Can Have Manhattan and loving it!!! The dynamic between these two is a hoot!! I just love her writing style and her books have never let me down!!
Hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for Fall!
Wow that’s the second enthusiastic comment about it today, and it just went live. YAY!!!!! 😀 !!!!
Missing you, Jean! ❤️️ Glad you posted!
Hi Nay!!
Jean! *pounce hug*
I’ve been a little (okay…a lot) MIA lately as well. Life stuff. *shrug* But I’m hoping the Fall will be different!
Happy Birthday Girl!!! Yes, hoping Fall will be better for me too!!
https://www.number-2-pencil.com/slow-cooker-chicken-alfredo/ Here is the crockpot recipe I used. I liked it enough to use as a regular- especially on these busy sports nights. So, it needed a little something though. I added a dash of salt and extra parm to my bowl and topped with steamed broccoli. I cooked my chicken on high for 4 hours, took it out to cut and added the cup of hot water, used 1lb of the mini penne (eliminates cutting for me) and set on high for 30 min. Checked at 20 min. And it was done. Probably could’ve checked at 18 or so for more al dente, but wasn’t overdone. Added my chicken and cheese back in. It’s pretty saucy, but I used a slotted spoon and added extra as I wanted. I didn’t add a ton of extra salt and pepper to anything cuz of my picky eaters and I didn’t know how much extra would be too much. A little less is better than too much, right? But, next time I may season my chicken a little more, maybe some Italian seasoning or something. Overall, simple, quick and tasty.
That sounds delicious, Tasha!!!!!! TOTALLY my kind of favorite meal.
Omg!!! It looks & sounds amazing. Just saved this recipe!!
Just saying good morning. A tired morning with lots of coffee.
No FLT for me. Hopefully as fall rolls in I will catch up on all I need to do and that reading switch will click on. I love reading on a fall day. BUT I am still holding out that this fall or winter one of you will do a drama watch with me. There is one coming out around winter with one of my favorite actresses that takes place on a small village bookstore.
bev that sounds quaint and perfect and I bet we’d love it! We were supposed to bunny-watch in August, but you disappeared. I was left all alone… wondering how the bunny-show was.
*sigh*
Oh! On another note, my boyfriend and I were watching an asian horror movie a few weeks ago (an exorcism movie that was really good – but I hadn’t even read the blurb or any of the details regarding directors or anything – just chose it because of the amazing about of 5 stars) and when it started and when the intro credits came up, I said ahhhh YAY!!! It’s Korean!! Those are my FAVORITE!!!
And he goes… HOW do you even know that? And I said… ’cause of the characters. I can just tell. Korean.
And I was right (when a newspaper that a character was reading said Seoul. He side-eyed me). 🙂
Maybe I’m learning Korean and Japanese through osmosis? Wouldn’t THAT be cool? 😉 *snort*
The rabbit died, lol. It looks like other companies are trying to take its place but I’m so not computer savvy.
Hopefully it will show up on Netflix.
I haven’t watched any of the horror movies. I kind of want to watch Kingdom (zombies) though. It has gotten some good reviews, but a short drama. 6 eps I think.
Hey, bev! Good to see you! So many people have disappeared. Now that summer’s ending, maybe everyone will be back. Hope you get your reading mojo again soon!
Hey bev! *hugs you in my mind* 😛
*waves to Jean & Bev*
*waves back*
I finally finished The Escape Room and I really enjoyed it. It was completely different from what I expected–it didn’t have as much of an escape room as a game feel as I expected, but there’s a definite cleverness to it, even if you may have to suspend belief a bit here and there.
Now I’ve just read the sample of Crossed Lines, and I’m definitely intrigued, but I also want to start All the Forbidden Things by Lesley Jones. Guess I’ll read a sample of that and decide which to read first. And speaking of…
Maryse–All The Forbidden Things by Lesley Jones was released today! And it sounds SO good!
I’m also seeing lots of love for Mia Sheridan’s newest, Where The Blame Lies, which releases on Sunday (no preorder). It’s supposed to be a romantic suspense that’s very crime thiller-ish!
How are you doing with Crossed Lines, Maryse?
Nay!!! I KNOW IT!!!! Holy moly… I’m preparing the Friday Finds, and just added it in. 😀
GAH!! I wish Mia Sheridan’s had a preorder. ’cause I’d add it too…
Crossed Lines is so far so good but I’m only in the first 15%. I like the writing though. I will be continuing when I get home tonight.

Life changing moments rarely announce themselves. They prefer to sneak up and sucker punch you in the face by way of greeting.
It’s You Can have Manhattan. I’ll join the general consensus. It’s good (so far). I’m liking it. Quite different from her other books, though.
