Tasha started this one and oh how I LOVE this game!!! This question kind of reminds me of my “hurricane days” from last year.
No electricity for a week, and nothing to do… nothing to cook, nothing to clean… just time to read. I had a make-shift pile of paper books I had been meaning to get to, just ready and waiting for me, and read and reeeeeeeead… I DID.
I was SO happy (even if I was hot and sticky and sick of what I was eating) but to be honest? A whole week of just reading what I had been wanting to read? BEST WEEK EVER!! 😉
And while none of these are reader recommendations (YET!!) these are what we want to read badly. Let us know your lists, and if you’ve read one on our list and recommend it, let us know too. 😀
Tasha: My brain wanders constantly and I was thinking (as I was browning my meat) that I was so overwhelmed with all the books I wanted to read coming out soon or now or just in the last few weeks and THEN thinking my gosh, but I’d really like to tackle (yada, yada, yada) first and wouldn’t it be nice if the book world would pause for just a little while so I can catch up and not miss anything spectacular?
And it’s fun to read all of yours. I screenshot so I don’t miss any goodies and while I read it’s yes! yes! yes, that 1! Oooh, that sounds good! Oh, I forgot that one, that too!
➔➔➔ If all new releases were put on hold for 3 months. Nothing new from now until December 1st, which 5-10 books that you already own would you play catch up on?
Ooooh now I’m excited!! It gives me a chance to build my TBR list again and yet, I have all of these already. Very cool!
Here’s my list!! 😀
- All of the books I own by Carian Cole. Ashes & Embers Series Collection (Books 1 to 4) & Torn (Devils Wolves Book 1). So many of you are crazy about both of her series, and I’ve been wanting to read them so badly.
- The Simple Wild: A Novel and Keep Her Safe: A Novel <— The two latest release by K.A. Tucker (I have them both and I LOVE her).
- Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil <— highly recommended by both Tasha and bev, so it’s a must read!!
- The Jack & Jill series by Jewel E. Ann <— also highly recommended by so many, and even my very best book friends can’t believe I haven’t read these yet. And! I love this author’s other books.
- The Highwayman (Victorian Rebels) <— historical romance, which is not normally my thing, but a few of my friends lost their mind over this one… and historical romance isn’t normally “their thing” either!!!
- Vicious (Sinners of Saint) by L.J. Shen <— can’t resist a good “bully book” and supposedly he’s a GRADE A JERK!!
- Lessons In Corruption (The Fallen Men Series Book 1) by Giana Darling <— BOTH books… I hear they are forbiddeny and shocking and amazing.
- 47 Things & One More Thing: (a 47 Things novel) by Lilliana Anderson <— TOTAL blurb jolt!!!
- Thicker than Blood by Madeline Sheehan & Claire C. Riley <— I love post-apocalyptic, and my best book buds loved this one!
- The entire “Charley Davidson” series by Darynda Jones series <— I’ve been collecting them, and have a ton, and I hear these are some of the BEST, funniest paranormal romance or urban fantasy books ever. I WANT TO READ THEM!!! P.S. Author “fun fact” Did you know Darynda Jones puts mustard on her french fries, like I do?? 😉
- Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep: A Novel (The Shining Book 2) or Mr. Mercedes: A Novel (The Bill Hodges Trilogy Book 1)… both actually, because I love scary books! 😀
Okay so, in the grand scheme of things, considering I’ve included series, that’s a whole lot more than 10 books. 😉 Still… definitely this list, for me. 😀

There are so many good books and I realized that I have books from years and years ago that are still sitting on my TBR list, sigh. 1-Click wonders that are eating away at me whispering “Teri, read me next!” The angst. I cannot take it!

Love your pic with mom and your sister
I just paused the new release browsing and read two books that I owned , but never read – Bright Side and The Hating Game. I feel like I won the lottery! Both were amazing and I can’t believe that I waited on them. Pauses are definitely good for the soul.
So, I’ve read a Carian Cole and just didnt work for me. The Highwayman didnt either. It is super over the top. You have to read it expecting that. Also, Lessons in Corruption was a DNF.
I liked The Bronze Horsman even if some unnamed people made me travel to Russia on my own.
And the Hating Game was one of my favorites the year I read it.
I did really like The Bear and The Nightengale too. I need to read the sequel.
LOL on going to Russia alone bev… I remember that week. It was hard on you. 😉
I’ll be going to Russia alone soon. The pressure to go to Russia at all is immense.
Pack well. You will be there awhile.
Oy. That’s what I hear.
And OMG Maryse! That pic of you guys is too cute! I’m just seeing it!
I love this! I try to read one “old” book every couple of weeks to try and make my way through the ridiculous TBR but yeah. Never going to get there lol.

Jen. C. Jellico. Road.
Seriously.
You don’t even know.
I love reading everyone’s lists. They’re reminding me of some I wanna read too.

I have NEVER read a Colleen Hoover book so would start on those.
EXPERIMENT IN TERROR series
Keep hearing about some guy named Barron so should prob read that one.
Catchup on Stephen King and Joe Hill.
THAT MAN series is always brought up over the years and I purchased and always planned to get to it.
Finish the INFINITY series.
I have so many on my kindle I could prob read for three years and still not get to the end.
That makes me happy!
Let the record show that *I* did in fact accompany bev to Russia. Wow! That was one loooooooooong journey.
JulieO, I must insist that you read It Ends With Us. Do not pass go, do not collect $100, just grab your ereader and dive in!!!
Maryse, your family selfie is adorbs! I took a bunch of goofy ones last week on vacay with my fam and you guys are definitely cuter. 😉
I was reading everyone’s posts and had this big response to what everyone would read based on what I have read from each post and than I feel like someone slapped me because OMG Julie O has never read a CoHo book-you really can’t go wrong with any of them, however my favorite was “Hopeless”. I guess as shocked as I am that you haven’t read one of her books-I have never read a Kristen Ashley book.
ASHES & EMBERS! (ooohhhh aaahhhh) This is what I am taking with me on vacation. Ten days and counting and no, I am not going to Russia 🙂

Leslie M-
IT ENDS WITH US is now on my TBR list which has 15 books on it.
Jenn-
HOPELESS is now on my TBR also. But you have to get on the Kristin Ashley parade. My favorites: AT PEACE ( Joe is my all time book boyfriend). SWEET DREAMS, LADY LUCK, MOTORCYCLE MAN, HEAVEN AND HELL, and THE GOLDEN DYNASTY. Want to hear back from you and I will let you guys know.
MARYSE!!! MARYSE!!!! MARYSE!!! MARYSE!!!!
Put Vicious in your DNF pile. I absolutely loved it but I know you won’t. It has the same issue that Fear Me and Consequences had that you hated.
Anyone without that issue, go forth and read Vicious. It was awesome. 🙂
Do you see fate working?
Amy and Maryse fate wants you to buddy watch that drama with me.
JulieO-Yes I agree I need to but Holy Mother of God-it is so overwhelming-she has so many books most of if not all are series. I have many times said “self let’s read a Kristen Ashley book” and then I get so lost in trying to figure out where the hell to start I give up. I know I’m missing out, the first one you mention is At Peace, so maybe I’ll start there. Let me know when/if you read “ Hopeless”.
Jenn – The Golden Dynasty was FANTASTIC!!
Same here, Michele. I have about 200 I haven’t read and over 300 on my amazon wish list. Everyone keeps posting these books that sound great so I keep buying. I need amazon to shut down for a few months so I can catch up. But my list would include:

Killing Serai J.A. Redmerski (no, I still haven’t read it)
Uh, Tessa what’s the “issue?”
Sent it to GR for you Cheryl
Jenn
Many of KA’s books can be read as standalones. Motorcycle Man should prob be read in order but the others I mentioned are ok to read on their own.
Tessa
VISCIOUS was great! Read the series but of course as usual the first is the best. Give it a go Maryse!
Thank you JulieO and Teri Rouse. I feel like if I started to read her books and nothing but her books it would take me a year if not longer that fact alone is just wow but at least you two have given me a place to start and I thank you.
Jenn
I can only read 2 books of any series at a time then I just need to switch things up. KA has a unique writing style. Sometimes her one sentence can end up a whole paragraph which can end up most of a page. This drives some readers crazy but just go with it.
If you read AT PEACE you might go to THE GOLDEN DYNASTY next. Will give you a good mix.
*wrestles Julie O for custody of Joe from At Peace* Sorry Julie, he’s mine!
Michelle you have to read Fearless. A really great series.
Maryse that is a super cute photo up there! It’s great to have other book lovers in your family, isn’t it?
JulieO, it was one of my favorites of last year. But Maryse has a thing and it would hit that thing. Something that makes her DNF a book. 🙂
Tessa
We’re talking VISCIOUS right?
What thing does Maryse have about this book . It’s a bully book and they always have touchy things. Now I really want to know. Maryse just confess so I will quit mulling this over in my mind.
Did he get physical with her? The hero in the book?
If I remember correctly that is why Maryse didnt like Fear Me.
Yeah.
Tessa
You know I don’t even remember that. It couldn’t have been a huge part or would have stood out to me.
Makes me think I should read again.
bev yes, that’s exactly what has me DNF’ing… I don’t mind reading about obnoxiously bossy or possessive/jealous heroes, as long as they are ALSO protective and loving.
Mental or physical abuse just kills it for me.
Hi girls !!! With me, it’s not if there was NO new book releases… it would be more like “if I had no more job so that I could READ ALL DAY !” ha ha ha
For sure, I’d continue the Evangeline Anderson “Bride of the Kindred” series !! She keeps them coming and I’m stalled ! Maybe I could be able to keep up with her ! ha ha ha
Oh !!! And I just bought Final Girls by Riley Sager. I like thrillers… The 3 girls survived some massive killings that took place in front of them, each on their own. They do not know each other, just that they are survivors. And then one day, one of the 3 survivors knocks on another’s door and announces that they are now 2. I have goose bumps just thinking about it. THAT I WANT TO READ NOW !!!! lol
Has anyone read anything from their list yet?!
Ha! Nope. But I talked about reading Try. Does that count?
Almost done with my #5 and going onto my #3 after.
But I’d planned to read them when I made my list.
I didnt agonize over my list just put down the books that I think about reading or that always catch my eye when I scroll through my library.
Hello Maryse ‘s sister.
Johanne
Thanks for heads up on Final Girls. Love books like that. Kinda pricey for my kindle so I bought a used hardback (said like new) for $5 and free shipping. So am happy. Thanks again!
Renee
Some days that counts.
My problem is prices. There are tons of things I would like to read but the prices don’t drop, they aren’t available in KU or at my library. I’ve read over 100 books a year for the last 4+ years. (Thanks goodreads reading challenge.) So I can’t buy all the books…
BUT… I have 3 Christopher Pike books I haven’t read. I’m not sure why I haven’t touched them. It’s a weird place to be, wanting to read them but not. Back in the day, I used to buy his books as soon as they were out and devour them that same day. Haha.. going to the mall to buy books… I can still picture Waldenbooks..
I loved going to bookstores. Back when you didn’t know what was coming out, reading the backs of the books, it was kind of quiet and everyone seemed respectful of your space. Having to select 5 paperbacks out of the 8 you have selected bc of your budget. I spent many afternoons by myself very happy in those places.
