It’s D.G.’s turn (our resident Alabamian) to tell us her favorites! She’s had an enthusiastic reading year, and her top pick of the year, she has INSISTED upon adamantly. ;) LOL!!!! Just to give you an idea…

“D.G.: Maryse – Malachi and I!!!!!!! …Oh Maryse…you HAVE to read it! Like yesterday…or like really, really soon. I promise you will love it. JJ McAvoy took the whole reincarnation plot and NAILED it. …You will be TOTALLY surprised as to how it all flows and how it ends! It is not the typical romance…which makes it EPIC!!!!”

D.G.: Grey…Malachi and I ….Malachi and I ….he was a jerky jerk…just saying…am I the only one who read this book???

D.G.: Malachi and I.

D.G.: I might just start randomly dropping that title in until someone else reads it and gushes and loves iit just about as much I do….

And yes… it IS on my TBR list, ’cause I just KNOW I’ll love it.

But first… let’s revisit some of D.G.’s memorable moments in 2017, shall we?

D.G.: It drives me crazy when a book appears to have not been edited! I can over look a couple of typos here and there…

D.G.: I dream of a wonderful reading nook…peace, quiet, comfy blue crushed velvet isadora sleeper chair and lots and lots of books….OH! with a Keurig machine in a corner! I might never come out!!!

D.G.: I hate cliffys! There I said it. No way no shape no how will you convince me to voluntarily read a cliffy. HOWEVER, if the series is officially finished I will hoover through them. Hi my name is DG and I am a book geek/ booknerd / book addict.

D.G.: For awhile I was reading a book a day…(definitely not bragging because if good I would stay up late). But lately RL comes calling and it might take a couple days. But I will say that some books go faster than others…

D.G.’s answers for this fun “bev quiz”

Pie or Cake? Pie (any BERRY pie!!! I’d also say pecan pie but the calories…). Oh and peach. And apple. Mmmmmm. Never mind. ALL PIES.

If you had to dye your hair one of these colors: pink or turquoise? Pink

Gold or silver? Gold (in any format)

Precious or semi precious gems? precious…diamonds are a girl’s best friend…right???

If you had to move: Wyoming or Wisconsin? ummm…the beach.

House in the mountains or house in the desert? Mountains…maybe with some of KA’s alphas…

Mastiff, beagle, or a hairless cat? Hairless cat…so ugly they are cute

If you had to name said pet Gus, Gert, or Jane? (Middle name of your choosing) Gus the bus

Favorite pizza? Thin crest pepperoni with maybe beef, light on the onions, bell peppers and black olives

Sixteen Candles or Pretty in Pink? Sixteen Candles….I loved the way Jake smiled at her….sighing

Last Book I bought: Purple Hearts and I did not enjoy it. Cassie the h was to selfish and childish…and the end was rushed.
(Last book I read…free on KU..The Gravity of Us and it totally made up for Purple Hearts not being all that)

D.G.: Three things….

1. I am rereading Malachi and I. FIVE star read my peeps…it has depth folks…so go ahead and one-click it…what’s one more on your TBR?!?
2. Apparently I pre-ordered a book the other day and totally forgot about it until it showed up in my kindle.
3. I love fruit scented soaps.

And now for her 2017 Favorites!

Malachi and I by JJ McAvoy…

“I absolutely-freaking-lutely LOVED this book.  He was such a meanie…just a total jerk…to her.  I could sympathize with him…he had his reasons.  I loved the way it was all brought together in the end…reincarnation at its best!”

“…But come on…after falling and loving ‘her’ nine hundred and ninety-nine times who wouldn’t be a jerk. Or a little testy to say the least. Throw in Alfred who just made the book all the better and I have to say it was a FIVE STAR for me!!!!”

“…It has stuck with me. I randomly find myself thinking about the characters or something that occurred in the book.”

Ghosted by JM Darhower

“The feels!  The feels!  OMG!  This book was amazing.

I am not a huge fan of second chance romances but this one

…I totally was hooked!”

Hate To Love You by Tijan

“College girl determined not to fall but falls eventually for the star quarterback kinda read…unlocking her past and reasons for her determination to remain solo…just really loved it!

…Hate to Love You is awesome!!!”

Sinner of Saints series by L.J. Shen

“These Sinners…they ruled the school, they were big ole mean jerks who grew into big ole mean jerky men.  Just awesome!!!”

“I fell so hard for Vicious and Dean… …Boy, oh, boy… those Sinner of Saints boys are the biggest jerks! But oh so easy to fall for and Trent did not disappoint! So hard to choice who is my fav…”

Dear Aaron by Mariana Zapata

“Miss Queen of the slow burn…LOVE all her books. Dear Aaron is no different.  Ruby is so real…not truly seeing herself as others see her.  Aaron is deployed and through a series of emails meets Ruby.  I love the journey of Aaron and Ruby discovering each other.”

“…Dear Aaron was a five star for me also! Heck, I love all her books.”

To Have It All by B.N. Toler

“Such a different plot than most I have read.  I loved the bonds between various characters…LOVED Liam’s good heart…Waverly’s anger and distrust…and the innocence and trust of babes.”

“…Loved, LOVED!!! To Have It All … had a total different plot. The whole switching bodies thing totally worked…well wrote and not far fetched at all. Totally fell for the confused but hot Liam…”

Wrecking Ball (Hard To Love Book 1) and Sledgehammer (Hard To Love Book 2) by P Dangelico

“Wrecking Ball totally had a WOW feel to it but even better!  I felt that there was a little more something-something to the back end.  A little more meat, a little more story, a little more lovin.”

“I know I raved on Wrecking Ball because it reminded me of Wall of Winnipeg and Me…BUT I just think I LOVE her books! I absolutely loved Ethan and his bubble-butt self! He was so different than a lot of the other H’s I have read and I just loved the gestures and looks! Well done!”

The Gravity of Us by Brittainy C. Cherry

“This book here…just outstanding!  The best books have the best feels and at times make my eyes water.   Graham and Lucy were complete opposites.   Graham was cold hearted, glass mostly empty kinda guy were as Lucy was a free spirit, glass overflowing kinda gal.  Loved the struggles and the angst.”

“Outstanding. Just outstanding. I absolutely LOVED The Gravity of Us! More than a handful of moments that made my eyes watery…but the best books always give me all kind of feels. Loved the slow burn of it. Good gravy but I absolutely LOVE the cover!!! I mean it is Stu…my all time favorite cover model. Swooning here….”

The Darkest Sunrise series by Aly Martinez

“OMGEE!  These books had me on the edge of my seat, emotions all over the place…my heart even hurt but then there were all those moments that just made it worth the read!”

“…Aly Martinez duet is a 5 star read for me! I LOVED it! There was some very emotional parts with eyes watering and stomach dropping but she brought it full circle. Even went on to read her Retrieval duet too…loved it as well!”

When Life Happened by Jewel E Ann

“Loved that I fell in love TWICE in this book…the plot totally threw me…but I fell TWICE!!!

…FIVE POINT FIVE FREAKING FANTASTIC STARS!!!!!!! Seriously you guys…just stop whatever you are reading and read When Life Happened! Book hangover…just want to sit here and absorb it all.”

Forever Right Now by Emma Scott

“AMAZING!  I worried over Darlene…I worried over Sawyer…I fell in love with Olivia!  Just freaking loved it but then again it is Emma Scott!”

Curious about what other books are D.G.’s favorites?

Oooh yay! A new list! I’ve read 5 of these and have a whole bunch of them on my TBR already. Looks like I need to move them up and add a few more that I didn’t already have. Thank you for your great list,DG! And thank you for indulging us, Maryse!!

Maryse December 27, 2017 at 10:39 PM

My pleasure Grey!! You all indulge me, too. ;)

Tessa December 27, 2017 at 10:56 PM

*just starts adding books to TBR* Seriously, every one I read up there were books I loved. So, those I didn’t… yeah. TBR.

Kathy P. December 27, 2017 at 11:13 PM

Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to put the Best of 2917 Lists together! This is my favorite time of year. I love finding new treasures to read as well as reaffirming that maybe my taste isn’t so bad:)
Just got a new Kindle for Christmas with so much more memory that I am a little scared of all of the books that I can put on it!

bev December 27, 2017 at 11:26 PM

Great looking list.
So. You want us to read Malachi? ;)
I’ve read two of these Dear Aaron and Wrecking Ball. I know I have Ghosted and think maybe Sunrise and Sunset.

How do you pull these quotes up??
It’s a bit scary, lol.

D.G. December 28, 2017 at 12:10 AM

Yes Bev (and everyone else)…read Malachi!!!! My luck it will be that book that only I love….but still read it, it has depth.

Agreed it is kinda scary about the quotes…lol

Jan December 28, 2017 at 1:37 AM

Thanks for sharing, DG. I liked Wrecking Ball too, although Dear Aaron wasn’t my fav Zapata. Looks like now I need to go look up Malachi and I….. ;)

Leslie M December 28, 2017 at 6:30 AM

I read 5 of these and two are my faves!

Hmmm…not sure if Malachi would be my cuppa. I think it would be good as a movie.

Maryse December 28, 2017 at 6:37 AM

bev… I have magical comment powers. ;)

They’re good, though right? You guys always comment with the funniest stuff, and put all together in a row, makes it all that much funnier.

Maryse December 28, 2017 at 6:40 AM

Jan, I agree. I’m at 75% of Dear Aaron and I still haven’t finished it. And the worst part is that NOW is when it should really get good, but I had read all of that whooollle lead up and now… I’ve lost my my focus on it.

I’ll get back to it since she is one of my absolute favorite authors.

D.G. December 28, 2017 at 9:54 AM

I think Zapata has became like KA to me…I just love her books! But I will agree that Dear Aaron is not my absolute fav of her books but still I loved it. It was very much different than her other books with the corespondences. As always I love how this character is related to or friends with or a fan of a previous character.

Anybody reading Malachi?!?!?

Maryse December 28, 2017 at 10:29 AM

Kathy!! These lists are my favorite too. I have a love of “aggregating” book related fun!

bev December 28, 2017 at 10:34 AM

Very fun and funny. Also, slightly what the heck were we talking about?

D.G. December 28, 2017 at 12:38 PM

The quotes??? Maybe???

Jen C December 28, 2017 at 5:45 PM

Loved so many of these books and now have got a few to add to my TBR – thanks D.G.!

Cheryl December 30, 2017 at 10:56 PM

I’ve read several on your list D.G. and now have some more to add to my tbr. :)

Amy January 7, 2018 at 12:37 AM

Another one for Ghosted!!! Holy moly, that book got all kinds of love last year.

Malachi and I has REALLY caughty attention several times, but I just haven’t made the plunge and clicked it. Maybe I need to change that. ;)
