*shakes head in happy disbelief*
OMG!!! That was fun!!!! Yesterday was the Best. Day. EVER! Overwhelming in so many ways, but so amazing. I’m just thrilled that I had the opportunity and good fortune to attend. I mean, just…Β WOW, right??!! I… just… speechless. My words. They have left me once again but I’m hoping to get them back as I recount a few of the silly moments throughout the day. I’ve just finally started coming down off of the crazy adrenaline trip that started Friday night and didn’t let up until right about now (when I thought, okay, maybe I can speak again). π
So all week, I knew this was coming. I mean, just meeting one of my fellow readers is always exciting (and a bit nerve wracking), so you can imagine how tense I was with this upcoming *triple threat*. I tried to go on with my daily routine, and not think about it (set it aside until Friday gets here and let the nerves hit me then), but come on! That was simply impossible. My concentration was off. My reading was off. I was blogging all week, but my nervous anticipation kept me from concentrating and getting into anything serious. Could you tell? I could tell.
So Penny and I kept each other company (via Facebook) until that day. It helped knowing I had a fellow reader/friend to experience this with.
Maryse: … I go through easy moments, and then I go… OH GOD. Tomorrow…
So here it is. A day in the life of a nervous wreck:
Friday night:
- I indulged in reading Lothaire late into the night. Why not, right? I can’t concentrate on much, sleeping is… not happening. And my room looks like a clothing store exploded in it. Belts, shoes, stuffΒ everywhere, and I still couldn’t decide. What the heck does one wear, when oneΒ expects to meet an evil vampire? So I give up, and figure I still have Saturday (maybe I’ll be more focused), and leave my fashion piles where they lay. Reading it is. At least I’ll be putting myself in the right kind of “Lothaire” mood. And it helped.
Saturday:
- 9:00 am – Considering how late I fell asleep, I still got up way too early. Wondered if getting ready to go that early would be just too weird, so instead I read some more. I was appropriately very much into Lothaire by the time I was ready to go.
-
Penny’s line number. 1:50pm – Penny texts me letting me know she got there early enough to get us a #5 line number. OH YESSS!!! I’m delayed (husband decided it was the perfect day to get some errands done). Whaaaaa? NOW?? But we’re supposed to be leaving soon…Β *sigh* MEN!!! Still though, gives me time to panic amongst my clothing explosion, privately. (that kind of panic is never pretty).Β Penny eases my concern about early arrival. She’s in place for both of us. *love her*
- 3:30pm I finally get there, and we hug! Immediate bonding because, OMG we are about to experience something so fun together! There is NO awkwardness, just the three of us (husband loves these things) chatting in an attempt to keep our nerves in check. I remind my husband, TAKE TONS of pictures!! Tons!! He’s got an awesome camera that can do anything, and I don’t want none of this 1 or 2 pictures stuff! I want lots to choose from and to display. He assures me, no problem, he’s ON IT! Didn’t he Penny?? Didn’t he promise!! Β grrrrrrrrr (you’ll see why I’m growling in just a second…)
- 4:00pm: It fills up FAST! There are suddenly people everywhere, and the excitement and energy is building. The room is alive with anticipation, and book chatter and funny comments take place with everyone in our vicinity. We’re all fans, and we’re all there for the same reason. We’re all connecting and everyone seems happy!
- 5:15pm (approx) – IT. IS. ON! There they are, and the crowd roars their excitement! It doesn’t take but a few minutes and I’m already at Kresley’s side getting the books signed. She’s beautiful!! And so full of life, smiling, laughing and seems genuinely delighted to be there. My husband, as promised, is right there taking our picture!
-
Well, at least Penny got a picture during Lothaire’s *signing*… *grumble grumble* Yes. I’m looking at you, husband! And then… as I make my way over to Lothaire (Paul Marron), all 5′ of me, juggling my 5 heavy hardcover books, iPad, iPhone, and purse, trying to appear nonchalant and unassuming (*squeeing* was on the inside ONLY) I look over to my husband and notice that he is in a deep discussion with a fellow camera/lens/techie lover and completely, utterly unaware that I am standing RIGHT THERE!!! WITH PAUL who is busy signing my stuff!!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!Β So there I am attempting to chat politely with him, and keep my cool as I endevour Β to discreetly get my husband’s attention.Β I stare bug-eyed at him and do a tiny foot stomp thingie. I wave my arm at him. I wave a little harder. I call his name, coupled with more obnoxious foot stomps (by now I have no idea if I’m freaking out the cover model by my apparent rudeness, but I’m certainly red-faced). Β Still… nothing.Β By now I’ve gone into wishful-thinking mode, hoping that he’s still too busy signing my stuff that maybe he hasn’t noticed I’ve gone spastic. But I know my “discreet” attempts are not working, so I call my husband’s name again, LOUDLY. Twice. Penny is witnessing the entire commotion and chuckling from afar. Still… to no avail. Now I have to pull out the big guns, because, come on. Paul is not going to wait all day, and I know there is a line that must be building behind me. So I pull out my *crazy* and start doing what appears to be psycho-girl jumping jack leaps, IN HEELS, bouncing up and down, pretty much shrieking my husband’s name… (while trying not to plow the model down in the process). Yep. This wasn’t happening nearΒ Paul. It was right in FRONT of Paul. *eyeroll* OMG. Kill. Me. Now.

- Oh lookie there! My husband finally looks at me (when he is nudged by his fellow newfound techie friend) and NOW I have to reign my crazy in, and smile for that one picture that I should have had 30 of, while I was still in my naturally happy state. Oh who am I kidding? Even with all of that, I was thrilled! I proceeded to apologize profusely, and I think all was forgiven as he had a glint of amusement in his creepy red eyes. I was embarrassed, yes, but Paul was so sweet and accommodating that I’m thinking I didn’t freak him out too much. I hope. π

A bit of cooling down time (from all that jumping, and stressing, I think I overheated a bit). No no!!Β I know what you’re thinking!! “Lothaire” had nothing to do with it! hee heeΒ π Penny and I unloaded our heavy but signed books, and then lightly huggedΒ their tour bus a bit. It was just so shiny and beeaauuutiful!! I just couldn’t resist!
The rest of the evening was wonderful!! We watched as everyone got their books signed, pictures taken, and as the evening progressed, had even more opportunities to chat and take more photos with Paul as he stood amongst the crowd. Sweet, charming and friendly he was easily approachable, and super agreeable. Well… to be fair, us girls didn’t do much approaching (we’re chicken!), but my husband thought it was a kick to see us red-faced when he did all of the “approaching” for us…

To quote Penny describing the evening:
Penny: Oh wait till you hear! Lol Kevin is the man, he just walked over and got him and brought him to us!!
Maryse:Β Yes… Yes. Kevin. Did.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to chat with Kresley as she was behind a table, and signing away, but we were able to get tons of gorgeous spontaneous pictures of her. *Ahem* I think my husband has a crush. π
So the night ended in a small cozy group chat where readers asked her questions, and she answered. Mostly it was a fun laid-back session, where she discussed things like traveling on a tour bus, Nix’s potential novel (no definite answer on that one), her upcoming YA series, a t-shirt giveaway trivia contest, and she “hoooooo’d” like Lothaire’s Elizabeth would, for us. She had it perfect! And of course, there was that “Is Paul single?” question, that was answered so perfectly! I got that on video! (A quick montage of video clips from the evening coming soon – but there will be NO spoilers, so no worries! AND more pictures to follow!!) π So there itΒ is folks, a week of built-up excitement came to fruition, and proved to be a wonderful event that I will never forget.
BTW – almost finished Lothaire’s book and I AM LOVING IT!!!!
Soβ¦ I haveΒ THREE signed copies (signed by both Kresley Cole & “Lothaire”) to give away, over the course of the next few related posts.

Retweet that link by tomorrowΒ Monday, January 16 2012Β (10pm, USA EST). On Tuesday January 17thΒ 2012 at approx.Β 9pm EST,Β I’ll randomly select one lucky winnerΒ among all the Twitter users who retweeted this post, and I will list the winner at the top of this post (and attempt to contact you via Twitter).

Husbands and cameras… – thank all the Gods that Penny was ready with her camera, LOL. And I have to say I LOVE the picture of you climbing up the side of the bus – I almost snorted my coffee out of my nose when I saw that. I am sooooooo envious Maryse, Paul Marron looks EDIBLE!!!!!!
OK, so that was awesome!!! I lived every minute of it with you π You are Da Bomb!!!! BUT, Kev is THEE BOMB π and I’m so glad you got to meet Penny!!!
Whoohoo…awesome day for me…..I mean…for you π
Great pics of my Salvatore π
I don’t do twitter but would LOVE a copy! So jealous! Wish I could’ve made it down for all that! Absolutely LOVE the pic of you and Paul!
SO jealous! Congratulations!
PS, ur husband rocks!
No worries, I still have two more books and each giveaway will be different!!
Hehe I love how he signed our books “Forever Lothaire”…get it? Cuz he’ll live forever! Narf….
Oh and I was totally feeling ur anxiety all day too. My mother in law almost cancelled our plans to go baby clothes shopping and I told her “NO! If we don’t go what will I do to pass the time until 6?!” I texted my sister all day (she’s the one that got me into IAD and was going with me) with a countdown every hour on the hour….it was excruciating!
Ohhhh yes, Kayla!! I swear I was a mess! But I wouldn’t change a single bit of it. Even embarrassing myself was fun! (well… after the fact. On the spot, I think I really did growl) LOL! Were you nervous once you approached them for the signing? And i did get a kick out of “Forever” Clever!
Ebbsterr… yep, he made up nicely after he almost missed my photo opportunity, so I was quite happy!
I posted a link to my pics on ur Facebook for u! There’s a pic of me when I was next in line! She was so wonderful and made me take off my boot so I could show her my tattoo I got dedicated to her and Katie MaKalister’s vamps. Then she squeeled and made her editor come see it Haha! And then meeting Paul was awesome, but as I said on ur fb, it was exciting to see him but as soon as Kresley started the q&a it was like he completely left my brain when she started talking. So hilarious and sweet! I asked her what her hubby thinks of her steamy scenes and she says he’s always telling her good synonyms to use for body parts and stuff! Hehehe she said he’s learned not to ask questions.like when she wakes him up in the middle if the night and tells him to crawl on the floor so she could measure him to see if Bowen could fit through the 2 ft tunnel….Lmao!
Thats the story and we’re sticking to it! Hehehe…
What a great time, Kevin did make up his momentary distraction ten fold with all the amazing pictures and interviewing(more or less) Paul!
Maryse left out that some of the bus molestation pictures actually stopped traffic in front of the mall π but no one seemed to mind! It was really great and only could’ve been made better by getting Paul out of his clothes, oops, I meant jacket : p
Oooooh Penny!! That reminds me. Okay that does it. There will be officially a part two of this blog post (with, of course, more pics).
I got more funny stuff to mention!
I am so jealous! Congrats!
Ohhh congrats , what a day …. love the photos and the story. Don’t do twitter so can’t win but that is ok.
Saw the picture of you with Paul right before I started reading Lothaire (and of course then had to check out all his model shots) and yes the book is SO good, but it’s even better being able to TOTALLY picture Paul as Lothaire in all those scenes from the book.. you know the ones I’m talkin’ about. π
Love your story and so glad you had a great day!
Oh I luv this !! I got a a full visual in my head of the jumping up & down in those killer heels I sware I’m still giggling lol !! I am a total newbie to twitter so I’m going to get my sexy nerd of a hubby to re-tweet ur post 4 me ahhh got to luv the hubbies …..even if they nearly miss the photo op of a life time lol
Thank you for your break down of the day! I totally enjoyed reading it and could envision myself there! You are so lucky! When are you posting the video to Paul’s answer?
I’m from Australia.
But I was just imagining the book arriving in the mail.
HE TOUCHED IT.
I swear i’d lick the book.
I have been so jealous of all the lucky folks who got to meet Paul in person! At least I get to read people’s experiences and look at their photos.
I have tweeted and posted on my Facebook wall.
Congratulations! I am so jealous – but excited for both of you too! I would have been too chicken to approach him also.
I want to win that book so I can hug it and just stare at the cover for hours while my kids ask me when am I going to go food shopping….
I so wish I could go to events like this, but I have no car and I have never heard of them coming to my area of North Central Florida. But thank you for such wonderful photos!! He actually looks way HOTTER in person which is funny because it’s usually the other way around! lol!
Well thanks again I really enjoyed reading about your experience and I REALLY want to win so thanks for this giveaway!!
OK so here is my retweet https://twitter.com/#!/SexySusie85/status/158957650678263809
Hi Susie! *hug* I feel you. I’ve missed quite a few events in the past, but this year I’m gonna do my best to know of as many as I can. I’ll post ’em as I find them.
Yep! His “smoldering look” is a kick! I called it his “Lothaire Death Stare”. Loved it!
Kayla! I can’t find the link? π Can you send it to me in an email?
Rebeka!! You’re hilarious! *hug*
I keep checking back for the videos of him answering questions! ah! I can’t wait! I watched the undergear holiday video and man I had to fan myself! lol
Jeannie! It was well worth it, for sure! Embarrassment and all… well worth it.
Shavaun…
Oh I have 400 pics and still need to work through the video clips so I don’t post any spoilers or unimportant stuff (like my video camera staring at the floor). You know how it goes…
I’ll let y’all know when they’ve been posted, for sure!
P.S. his answer was clever π
infinitieh… I’m also looking up everyone else’s pics. It’s fun to re-live it through their eyes too.
Sara… he does make a perfect Lothaire, doesn’t he? Yep. He perfected that Lothaire Death Stare for sure!
Sali… those “killer’ heels were killer in more ways then one. Ouch! A day standing and walking and then eventual “leaping” in them sure wore on me… π
Sandra… no worries! I have two more signed books to give away and those will not be “Twiiter” contests.
Oh Jane!! Yeahhh I tried my best to give it a hug. I knew I looked silly, but it had to be done!
And well… if we’re gonna be honest, I was trying to actually give that huge book cover, on the side of the bus, a hug too. But no matter how my I stretched… I couldn’t reach. Luckily I got to sort of hug the real thing. π
I posted it on ur wall, I’m Kayla Jason Robichaux on fb!

I am so jealous. I didn’t realize that Paul Marron was Lothair too. What a chameleon. I am looking forward to doing a luncheon with Larissa Ione in April. She lives near where I live and someone is having an event with a bunch of romance authors. For $43 dollars I get to sit at Larissa’s table and have lunch with her. I am stoked.
