Here it is!! The cover and synopsis for book #3 (the final installment) in the “Fifty Shades” trilogy by E.L. James. This is the series of the year for me! The first two books had me in absolute turmoil. I was a nervous wreck, and yet loving every moment of this unconventional story. I’m anxiously awaiting January 19th 2012 so I can read this one, too.
My mom just started book #1 yesterday (Fifty Shades of Grey) and is already loving it. She said she was already so into it, and knew she would be after reading how excited we all were. Although, I had to giggle, when she asked me… what a certain *acronym* stood for. 😉
“I thought those letters were about the Black Dagger Brotherhood guys, but then I realized those guys are called ‘BDB’… so what exactly are you girls referring to?”
and when I spelled it out for her she said,
“Oh. Like V! I can deal with that.”
I love my mom! She’s sooooo easy going.
So here it is folks! The gorgeous cover and synopsis as released on the author’s website (and for those wondering what acronym my mom was asking about, this cover should give you a good idea). Now wait!!! It’s not just like “that” exactly…. it’s SO much more.
To quote my friend Jackie:
“… these books weren’t really about that, they were about a seriously damaged man who undergoes a hugely painful jouney for love.”
The synopsis for Fifty Shades Freed: Book Three of the Fifty Shades Trilogy:
When unworldly student Ana Steele first encountered the driven, damaged young entrepreneur Christian Grey it sparked a sensual affair that changed both their lives irrevocably. Shocked, intrigued, and ultimately repelled by Christian’s singular sexual tastes, Ana demanded a deeper commitment; determined to keep her, Christian agreed.
Now, together, they have more – love, passion, intimacy, and a world of infinite possibilities. But Ana always knew that loving her Fifty Shades would not be easy, and being together poses challenges neither of them ever anticipated. Ana must somehow learn to share Christian’s opulent lifestyle without sacrificing her own integrity, identity or independence; Christian must somehow overcome his compulsion to control, and lay to rest the horrors that blighted his past and haunt his present.
Just when it seems that together their love can conquer any obstacle, misfortune, malice and fate combine to make Ana’s worst nightmares come true. Alone and desperate, she must face down the poisoned legacy of Christian’s past.
Seductive, shocking, sad and funny, Fifty Shades Freed is the compelling final volume in the Fifty Shades trilogy.
The cover:
and for those interested in knowing more about the books already released in the trilogy, here are my book reviews:
- Book Review – Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James (book#1)
- Book Review – Book Review – Fifty Shades Darker by E. L. James (book #2)
So excited to read it while simultaneously so incredibly sad that this is the final book in our love affair with Fifty Shades. This is the best book series I have EVER read! EVER.
AGREED!!!!
Oooohhh, nice! I can’t wait
It’s up there in my top 3 also…..I can’t wait for #3!!!!
I’m SO excited for this – this is definitely one of the best series in a LONG time. but ummm… am I the only one a little worried about the synopsis combined with the title?? “worst nightmare”, “alone”, “fifty shades FREED”… does anyone know if this author is a ‘happy ending’ kind of author? I really don’t think I could stand it they didn’t end up happy, alive, and together at the end… any thoughts?
Hi Aestas!
No worries!! According to a few other posts I read today, a reader who read the original 3 stories when they were known as Master of the Universe (when it was still in fanfic mode) claims that #3 is HEA. She said that as long as E.L. James hasn’t strayed from the original story that, all will be fine. And she confirmed that so far, the first two installments were just like the originals so she is fairly confident all will work out 🙂
Kay.. anyone know what her worst nightmares are?? Already wondering what she’s going to come up against…
Mrs. Robinson maybe? She’s sort of a nightmare! LOL!
I seriously cannot wait for this book, more Mr. Grey, yum!!! But am really scared too and apprehensive of what is surely going to be another emotional exhausting read!! By far one of my favorite book series so far coming in at a close second to the Black Dagger Brotherhood!!! Bring it on ;0) …..
whew!! it really had me worried – this series has me wrapped around its finger – I so want a HEA lol. fingers crossed!!
lol, oh and “Hi” btw 🙂 I’ve been following your blog for a while now – just havent commented on anything. You have a wonderful site and its thanks to you that I was introduced to Fifty and Beautiful Disaster – so I definitely owe you 🙂 Keep up the good work!
This makes me giddy as a schoolgirl.
I cant wait till Jan.I have a problem reading now ..any books with out thinking about fifty..
That sounds seriously heavy. She’s alone – where the hell is he? And she must face down the ‘poisoned legacy of his past??? WTF – I can’t wait to read this, but now I’m kind of dreading it too! xxx
Nicola!! Yes BDB is still my #1 (cause it has the added benefit of Vampires and Z!!) but agreed… this one rocked my world.
Aestas,
Welcome and feel free to jump in any time! I’m so glad Christian pulled you out of your hiding spot 😉
Sam:
*squeeeeeeee*
Lisa:
I too keep comparing everything I read (that I could have possibly loved in the past) to these stories, and wonder if I am now a bit biased…
Jackie: I wonder if the “poison” is a “who”
I just jumped out of my chair when I saw this post. My brother thought I saw a spider, instead here I am squealing over the mention of this book. I. Can’t. Wait. On another note, you need to read reason to breathe. Cliffhanger alert!
I was so excited by this post, can’t wait! I’ve been in a state of reading depression since finishing Darker. After spending the last several weeks with Fifty, Travis, and Kellan (sigh), nothing I’ve read since has come close to making me want to stay up all night reading. So Maryse what to read while we are waiting?
Ohhhhh handcuffs ……MAryse HANDCUFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!squeeeeing……..that sure in the heck ain’t “VANILLA” ladies somebody call the fire dept because this mommacita is gonna burn up from anxiety of waiting………….sell us a dream and then they take it away…….JAn. 19th ……..I am in for it…..
sooo… does anyone here have info on where I can read Master of the Universe ? My curiosity as to what happens is a little too much to wait till the end of Jan, I’d love to read the original version to see if it’ll help with the nail-biting long months of waiting lol.
Do I understand correctly that there were 3 installments of it? I keep reading people asking for different ‘parts’ of MotU on various forum…
I found this https://thelitoftwi.com/documents/MofU.pdf , but it doesn’t seem to have gone any further than what we already know. Anyone know where the full version might be?? I’d really like to read part 3 lol, spoilers be damned 😛
I just got goose bumps!!!! Super Excited!!! I can’t wait!
Hey Maryse, you wrote so much about about this new series, that now you picked my (eating books) reading addiction..hehe..I already download the first one, “FS of Grey” and I’m going to trust your call (because your top ten list, is pretty much mine too) and now I’m kind of dying to read this series.
Second Q: have you read the ” ACRO” series by Sidney Croft? ( Larissa Ione writing under that name). Is it any good? I started her Demonica series, I guess is ok ( it’s not BDB OR MIDNIGHT BREED)….give me a little help with this one, please?
I haven’t read any of her Sidney Croft stuff, but I have read all of her Demonica series. I personally think the Demonica series gets better as it goes, although I did like book #1 a whole lot.
Note: It’s funny, you blogged that you hadn’t read “normal human Alpha males” in a while, or at least since Twilight, and it’s exactly the same for me..I ALWAYS read everything by Sandra Brown, Nora Roberts, etc ( I know..I know,,hehe) and then…Twilight..after that…only this genre seems interesting to me…but now I’m dying to read “Grey” (and maybe we can find some other “great” series too, until next BDB and next “THE BREED” RIGHT? BTW, The Breed series is my #2 fave series…I love those guys, and the plot is so cool, dont u agree?
sorry…my note was long ..I’m kind of excited I have someone to chat that loves reading as much as I do…
Hrmmm… I haven’t read “The Breed” yet, but it’s been recommended often 😉
Maryse…sorry…another Q. Jessica above wrote: ” Travis, and Kellan (sigh)”, I remember reading you writing this name too? Travis? Whos Travis?? Which book series? Please? ( I promisse not to write again until I finish ” Grey”…:)
Thank you…thank you…( forgot to say it before) 🙁
Here Bia – here is my page with some of my absolute favorite books and includes the links to Travis from Beautiful Disaster, Kellan, Brian, and of course Fifty (and a few others too!) —> https://www.maryse.net/books/my-favorite-books/what-to-read-after-beautiful-disaster.html
Bia, Travis is from Beautiful disaster, also a great book!
It better not be Ms. Robinson fifty has to deal with again. I think it’s the mysteryman who tampered with the helicopter since that never was addressed in darker. I also tried to find the rest of MoTU but apparently once the books started coming out the story was taken down 🙁
I agree that’s its probably the person who tampered with Charlie Tango. It would make sense since the Mrs. R angle seemed kinda wrapped up unless something new comes to light.
About the master of the universe files thoUgh, what I DID find out from my research is that while the files have been taken down off most sites, many people have saved versions to their computers which is how they have been circulated for the last while. So if anyone on this site happens to have these files and would like to share….. Pleeeease let me know 🙂 lol. I’ll still read Fifty the day it comes out but I’d feel better knowing (hopefully) that there is a HEA at the end of all the angst/drama.
Ps. Does anyone know the classification of the Fifty books? Cuz that might answer th HEA question too. Cuz ‘romances’ by definition, have to have HEAs according to my understanding. Fiction and fantasy can have whatever ending. I know this is sometimes called ‘erotic romance’, I wonder if that means it will have the HEA then..?
Ack. Lol. Jan is too far away. I need to stop thinking – sorry for the long post :p
50 Shades Freed – surely the cuffs should be open??? I’m getting edgy waiting for this book to come out!
Maryse – I also fear that the poison is a who – God, I hope not though! Especially not ‘her’! xxx
Absolutely LOVED the 1st two books!!!! I almost put the first one down SEVERAL times bc it really pushed my limits on what I could handle—but I couldn’t put it down bc the story line was so amazing! I would like to see them get married, but the more interesting thing would be to read about Ana having a baby! Wouldn’t it send Christian into an absolute tail-spin of control, worrying, making her eat, amazement of the child moving/heartbeat/birth?!?!? I think he would absolutely pass out in delivery….but the love between the two of them w/their baby after the delivery…..well….that would be priceless.
PS to Penny—-don’t you think the person at the end of the book, who messed with Charlie Tango, was Jack, Ana’s former boss who hit on her & who Christian & Taylor beat up & sent packing? Hm…
Aaaaa omg I’d love a book about a baby FiftyAna!!! He’d flip! Oh it would be so sweet!! Somehow I doubt that is what this book is about but I really wish it was. Althooooough, if there is any consistency to what the original fanfic was based df of, maybe there is hope… 🙂
@Tina, that was implied wasn’t it? He doesn’t strike me as having enough back bone, I guess we’ll find out but not soon enough!
Yeah – the baddie in the next book is definitely going tobe Jack.. I just hope it’s not Jack and Mrs R together. xxx
Did you see that Fifty Shades of Grey was nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award for Best Romance? The final award is determined by public vote. There are 3 rounds of voting, the first round ends Nov. 13. Your vote would be greatly appreciated.
Donna!
Good to know. Just voted for Fifty!
Hi Maryse! I’m new to your blog, and I discovered 50 shades through your recommendation! I LOVED the first 2 books……I think the best bits were the email exchanges between the two – made me smile every time. Thank you!
SHOUTY CAPITALS!! LOL!
Oh my gosh! I was loaned the first book by a friend and at one point i wondered if i could carry on as the sex scenes were a “hard limit” for me! But i carried on and boy am i glad i did! The story was amazing and i loved seeing Christian discover the delights of “vanilla Sex” with Ana! I continued on to the second book Fifty Shades Darker via kindle and read it in one day!!! I cried buckets absolutely loving how he was laying himself bare…So vulnerable and mixed up but so so in love….What an amazing story…I can’t wait for the last one! I loved the e-mail banter between the couple and could completely understand why he was totally ***ked up……… I will read these again without a doubt!
Just finished both book in 3 days….I never get to read, i couldn’t put it down. I read about the 3rd book and hope nothing devastating happens it sad. Ana is on her own:0( sux to have to wait a month!
Yep. I’m dying to know what happens that Ana has to deal alone…
I was staring at the cover and title and wondering when I’ll finally get my own copy (sigh, 5 more days) when I realized that the picture doesn’t exactly match the title…
I mean, if it’s “Fifty Shades Freed” wouldn’t it make more sense if the hand cuffs were open rather than closed?
is there anyway to get on a waiting list for when the book is released?
I don’t think so… I WILL, however post the clickable link as soon as it’s up for sale!
Maryse,
Please help me… I’ve been looking for the epub version of this book. Can you please give me site where to get it?? I’tried in Kobo, feedbook, smash…i can’t find…Pleaseeee!!!
Thank you,
I’m 18, about to be 19. All of my friends have read the books and I bought the book for my NOOK COLOR yesterday around 10am, I just finished it and I love it! All of my mom’s friends have told that they aren’t appropriate for teen like myself. I skipped the pages where there were um…. scenarios. My mom won’t let me read the other two until she is able to read the first one, which will be at least 1 month and she will probably think that it’s to much but I REALLY love the first book. Does anyone agree with me or mom on this?
I’m actually a grandmother (although under 60) and I have read the books and enjoyed them. The excessive sex was a little much but the story line is very good. I like that it’s a monogamous relationship although quite kinky! Otherwise, I wouldn’t waste my time with these books. Starting the 3rd one tonight! I can’t say how long it’s been that I’ve read two books in less than a month. Thank goodness for my iPad! Nobody knows what I’m reading! Avoids the raised eyebrows from everyone, especially the 15 year old grandson!
