Probably “Forbidden” by Tabitha Suzuma.
It was so wrong, but you couldn’t help but root for them.
That book ripped my heart out.
I prefer Kindle. π
The Dark Duet series. I put off reading them forever because I couldn’t understand how everyone was enjoying them. I finally gave in and read both and I loved them!
Going Under by S. Walden. This book deals with suicide and rape. Somehow though, among both of those incredibly ugly topics it also has an absolutely beautiful love story as well.
That would have to be the Dark Duet for me! I had a really hard time getting though book one but I wound up loving it by the end of book two! I can’t wait for the Epilogue to come out!!!
Congrats on the 22k likes!
I think that the Dark Duet were definitely out of my comfort zone, but so freaking amazing! Can’t wait for Epilogue.
Congrats on 22,000!!
I am a Kindle girl:)
Captive in the dark by CJ Roberts … I’m so ready to read book 2, I kinda really liked Caleb even though I knew I shouldn’t. .. Lol…. Barnes and noble ..please .. And congrats !!!
Stolen by Lucy Christopher, definitely an uncomfortable read. I would prefer kindle. π congrats on reaching 22,000 likes!
Dirty Red… I hated the main character of Leah and most of the story about her but I was waiting on glimpses of my favorite character Caleb
Until I Break π
Congrats, Maryse! I agree with Heather, mine is the Dark Duet. I feel guilty that I loved and hated Caleb! lol
Congrats Maryse!!
Forbidden by by Tabitha Suzuma!!
Kindle please!!
<3
Forbidden my Tabitha, Lochan and Maya were a story I will never forget. Such a wrong relationship but you couldn’t help but be captured by them! I have a kindle π
Blind Obession… What a book! I prefer kindle.
The most disturbing novel I’ve read to date has got to be Never Have I Ever by August Clearwing. I read it last month and I’m still DISTURBED! I had no hesitation rating it five stars though…it was INTENSELY AFFECTING!!!
I mainly read using the Kindle app.
Three to Tango Emma holly , Lauren Dane, Megan Hart and Bethany Kane. Talk about heating up a book. I prefer nook please
The Opportunist…. it wasn’t at all what I expected or wanted, yet I still really liked it
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. One of the most disturbing books I have ever read but good. It stuck with me long after I read it. Kindle please! Congrats!!!
I think Finding Eden was special for me… I had never read anything like it before, and had to work a little on my “liking”it. But i did! π And off course Bear, Otter and The kid….. It was sooo good, and almost scary intense in my oppinion…. Kindle pleeease! π
I’d also have to say the Dark Duet series! Wow what a read. I use a kindle.
Consequences and then Truth. I hate to say it but I still liked him after the first book and I am still hoping for their happy ending. I myself would have killed him after the first “accident”. I was uncomfortable the whole time I was reading them.
Comfort Food
Oops I forgot to say kindle please.
I haven’t read the above books yet;( but I think maybe hopeless not because of anything bad bc I loooooved it! I think about maybe the situation, I couldn’t imagine living and then have someone recognize you in a store to be someone else. Just scary to think what goes on and could happen out there! But for hope it was all good!!!!
I loved Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas…..was a short read but has stayed with me still…..way loved it even if I really shouldn’t have. Now have to look at the reading the Dark Duet series everyone is talking about….Love your thoughts and website Marysa almost as much as I love my kindle….
Captive in the Dark & Seduced in the Dark by CJ Roberts were way out of my comfort zone but loved them both. Kindle gurl.. Congratulations! LOVE your blog!
Barely breathing series. The child abuse really got to me. I had a hard time reading it, yet I couldn’t put it down.
Strings was good, but a bit much for me!
Comfort Food! I felt so conflicted after I was done with that book. Chicken noodle will never seem innocent again!
Mine would be “Vanilla on Top” by C.J. Ellisson. My first intro into the book’s subject matter and I am glad it was a light version. π I loved the female character and could see myself in her position. The male character was pretty hot.
I prefer Kindle.
The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice. Kindle please. Thanks for the giveaway.
Captive in the Dark & Seduced in the Dark…no matter how raw & ‘dark’ the books were I just couldn’t help but hope that they would actually fall in love & Caleb would change. Some of those scenes where very hard to swallow but I loved every minute it. Kindle please if I’m chosen π
when i heard about the dark duet series i was a bit afraid that i would feel uncomfortable with the subject but the series was great and loved it. congratulations and thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite guilty pleasure that I read this year was The Tied Man. Great writing, intriguing story, and wonderful characters.
Honestly at the time I read it 50 Shades was out of my comfit Zone and I lived it… Most recently The Opportunist sorta rocked me … That ending … I still haven’t been able to bring myself to read book two.
Congrats on such an amazing success.
Kindle please π
:/ comfort not comfit
The Tied Man took me way out of my comfort zone but I loved the book. Broke my heart over and over again!!! Congrats on 22,000 likes!!!
I don’t have one book in particular that would be “scandalous”. This past year I have bought and read more romance books then I can count, and my husband thinks they are all scandalous… lol. I have him constantly juduging me and not understanding my obsession, so I always try to hide how much I read, and buy books π thanks for your blog! I have gotten many good reccomendations from you! I like kindle.
Captive in the Dark and Seduced in the Dark were definitely out of my comfort zone. So good though, and I’m glad I got to experience it.
Congratulations on reaching 22,000!!
Forgot to say Kindle
Congrats!! I held off reading Consequences because I wasn’t sure about the abusive content. It was my first “dark” read and it was intense! I loved it and can’t wait for the third book to come out. I love my Kindle!
Some of the subject matter in Sempre bothered me, but I absolutely loved this book…Haven’t read any of the aforementioned books yet, but now I want to!!! Kindle please!!!
congrats! I have to say my guilty pleasure the art of submission series by Ella Dominguez
The Trek Mi Q’an Series by Jaid Black. Blushing just typing it..but it was very interesting world. Nook please.
Captive in the Dark by C J Roberts! π
Captive in the Dark & Seduced in the Dark by CJ Roberts was way out of my comfort zone.but I still loved both book….Kindle please.
Congratulations! The Dark Duet for sure. Kindle please!
I agree with the other comments about The Dark Duet series. It was good, but I wouldn’t say it was my favorite. There’s a book called Big Sky and it took me waaay out of my comfort zone. And that’s why i loved it. It stayed with me for a long time after. Kindle pls and congrats!!
A tie between Stolen and A Tied Man. Both were a bit out of my comfort zone, but loved them regardles. Kindle for me, please.
Captive in the dark by CJ Roberts… I’m still in therapy! Lol!
Ok this is easy! “Rode Hard, and Put Up Wet” (Rough Riders #2) by Lorelei James. I read this book back in like 2006 or something & it was the first M/M book I’ve ever read. I LOVED IT! I couldn’t get enough. I’m pretty sure I read it like 10 times. The Male/Male sex scene was raw & hard & primal. Nothing like the beautiful Historical Romances or sexy Eroticas I’ve ever read. That book introduced me into a new type of Romance. I’m a M/M junkie now! Read M/M all the time! I will say, its still a very Taboo subjet. Most people I know, think I’m weird or sick for reading about it. I’m very vocal about what I’m reading & some friends tease me that I must have been a gay man in a former life π So I’m thankful for my online book friends who read the same stuff as me & love it. Great question!!
Big Congratulations on such a big milestone!! I’m very grateful for your blog because the Reading Order List has been a GODSEND!!! Thank you for the giveaway! I’m a Kindle Girl β‘β₯β‘
Recently read the Druid Breaders series… wasn’t sure i would like it based on the “warning” however i thought it was good. Easy read, and found myself wanting to know the characters more at the end.
Congrats…
Kindle girl
Consequences by Aleatha Romig, felt it was soooo wrong but couldn’t put it down!! Kindle please!!
Dark duet series was way out of my comfort zone but I ended up loving them. Congrats on the likes.
Congrats Maryse! Consequences or The Tied Man! Both fantastic. Kindle please π
I would have to say this year it would be “Table for three” by Lainey Reese.
I never thought I could read a book about that; I found myself blushing but unable to put it down. Steamy love scenes! Kindle would be great
I’m not being very original, but I have to say the Dark Duet series. I really thought there was something wrong with me for loving Caleb. I still don’t know if I have recovered from the series yet. I β€ Amazon!
I would have to say the entire Hollows series by Kim Harrison. The relationship between Rachel and Ivy is just just well unique.
Congratulations You deserve ! I know you have certainly helped me out with what to read next and I have never been disappointed by anything you have recommended!
I love reading books that push me out of my comfort zone, Captive in the Dark and The Tied Man are two of my favorites.
Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas….Congrats Maryse!!!!!….and Kindle please π
I believe Consequences & Truth by Aleatha Romig was my unconfortable read. I think it took a couple of days with putting it down so much… Kindle is my fav….Thank you for your recommendations and your hard work at keeping us informed of what is hot and what is not….
Thank You!!!
Honestly when I read Fifty Shades trilogy it was out of my comfort zone. I had never read that type of book before. Congratulations on 22,000. Barnes and Noble/Nook please.
Rule of Three is a Menage read, which is out of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed it. I would like Kindle please! Congrats Maryse!
Congratulations on 22,000 likes! That’s awesome! For me it was Beyond shame by Kit Rocha. Kindle for me please. π
I would say Tiffany Reisz. Original Sinners Series. The Siren, The Angel, The Prince. They can make you uncomfortable but boy the writing and story’s are really good. Kindle Please π
Captive in the Dark for me as well! Congrats to you, Maryse! Thank you so much for your blog! I’m a kindle reader!
Yeah Maryse, congrats! Thanks to you many of my dark reads are because you read them first, ha! Definitely Captive in the Dark was my darkest…….but Fifty Shades was the very first book I purchased for my kindle, before that I was a library girl and much richer girl too, thanks Amazon. π
Congrats on reaching 22k. I think Consequences was so far out of my comfort zone that I had to read in tiny spurts then read something more upbeat, but in the end I really ended up enjoying it. I’m a kindle girl too.
Congrats Maryse!! I tend to love all the darker reads. Anything that makes most people cringe is usually okay by me. Except death or serious illness that leads to death I just can’t do those books. Kindle please π
Flesh by Kylie Scott pushed my comfort zone for sharing π I love my kindle!!!! and I love Maryse!!!!
Congrats! Captive in the dark was mine. Kindle please π
Yaaaay, congrats <3
Hmmm, first book that took me out of my comfort zone is…well it's a series-Cut&Run series by Abigail Roux. I was reading this genre(MM) for the first time and I LOVED it! This is definitely one of my favourites series <3
Difinitely “STRINGS” but I did enjoy her Southern references and her humor. Congrats! Kindle
My favorite was Beyond Shame. I don’t read much dystopian and this one was awesome (and hot).
My guilty pleasures are the Master of Shadowlands series by Cherise Sinclair. Looking forward to finding the next guilty pleasure:) kindle please.
I probably should have been disturbed reading the dark duet series, but loved every second of it!! Kindle please π
Congrats! My favorite book to have taken me out of my comfort zone would have to be between The Dark Duet and Tender Mercies. I can’t decide so both. Kindle Please.
Captive in the Dark and believe it or not Backstage Pass. Kindle please. Thank you.
Congrats!!! Def the Dark Duet series but I fell hard for Caleb.
Going Under…ripped me apart! And Kindle π
A the time, Backstage Pass, cause I went into it not knowing anything lol. Congrats on 22000! Kindle please!
Consequences by Aleatha,it’s been months and I still can’t bring myself to finish the book.
Kindle
Definitely comfort food by kitty Thomas really tough subject but couldn’t’ t put it down & kindle please
Congrats! The book Crowe’s Row would be the one I think was out of my comfort zone. I shouldn’t like the hero but I do. Kindle please!
Fifty Shades was out of my comfort zone definitely. It was my first erotic romance.
Kindle please and congrats!
Never Have I Ever by August Clearwing! Difficult subject matter but couldn’t put it down. Reminded me of your “dark reads”!
Emma Holly’s Personal Assets definitely was out of my comfort zone but I absolutely loved it and seeked out other books like it when I finished reading it!
Definitely the Dark Duet. Captive in the Dark was so hard to read but totally intriguing and it has to take a special kind of author to make you fall in love with that sort of “hero”.
Nook please
Congratulations to you Maryse! You’re blog is the best! I read you every day and love all the comments and recommendations by everyone. The book I thought might be a little beyond my comfort zone was Taken by Kelli Maine. I don’t usually like the whole “kidnapping/hostage/captive” storyline, but I loved this book and the development of the characters. I also really liked Flesh by Kylie Scott. Threesomes are usually hot and steamy (strictly speaking of the book world here!), but I was surprised how she developed the emotional connections between all three of them. And what better time to re-define the boundaries of a relationship and love than during the zombie apocalypse!
Consequences and Truth by Aleatha Romig made me hate myself, because I actually found myself rooting for Anthony. It reminded me of the scene from Spaceballs when Dark Helmet is playing with the dolls and he has the princess say, “I hate you, I hate you. Yet, I find you strangely attractive.” lol. I despised Anthony, but by the end of Truth, all I wanted was for him to be with Claire. Yuck, I still feel kind of dirty, but I recommended the series to everyone….and they all loved it too.
Kindle, please!!!!!!!! and congratulations!
Dark duet series, kindle please
Consequences. Kindle
Scandalous read – Table for Three. Wow! Out of my comfort zone – Sharp Objects. I will never understand cutting. Kindle Please. π
congrats. maryse comfort food was my first dark read.
The Beauty Trilogy by Anne Rice. I had to have had a look of horror on my face from the first chapter. I almost stopped several times and I had to take several breaks before it was done, but wowza it is one of those books I will remember forever. Really glad I stuck with it!!
I just finished reading – game misconduct, by Bianca Sommerland. Talk about steamy. I’m not usually into menage and this book definitely pushed my comfort zone, but it was a fantastic read and free right now in the kindle store π happy readings
Comfort food and kindle please.
Never Have I Ever by August Clearwing! Dark read but could not put it down. Kindle preferred.
I have to go with the Avoiding Series, I still can’t stop thinking about those books. Kindle Please.
Going Under. S. Walden
Barely Breathing, I hated the situation but I couldn’t put it down. Congrats and kindle please.
Dark Duet series. Kindle for me, please.
Congrats Maryse on your new milestone! The Barter System by Shayne McClendon is a 5-star (in my opinion), sensual, erotic book! It is highly original and the heat jumps off the pages! Kindle please.
The Dark Duet introduced me to dark reads. After I read it I was hooked . Its my absolute fav dark read. Cant wait for Epilogue. My husband looked at me strangely if i tried to tell him abou them so tht stopped those conversations.lol Thanks to Maryse and her blog followers I don’t feel crazy for liking them and i always get great suggestions.
Congratulations! !!!
I think for me it would be The Final Pieces, about sexual abuse.
Thanks I’d like kindle please.
Congrats!!! Kindle plz
I really love forbidden romance. Like in Undeniable…older man, younger woman. Or teacher and student, those always interest me too! HOT!!!! But books that take me out of my comfort zone are usually books like Captive in the Dark or Wanderlust. Where you don’t want to like the hero, because he’s a brute who forces himself on the heroine, but you can’t help yourself.
Thanks for the giveaway! I have a kindle!
I havent read a super dark.one
…. so I would say hopeless BC it was the craziest story I have every read and.most heartbreaking π kindle.please!!!
Congrats! This Man and Beneath This Man…..stuck with me for days! Kindle please.
Thoughtless!!! Cheating is never right but I’d be lying if I didn’t have fun living vicariously through Kiera. Affairs are fun in fiction. And all those stolen moments drinking coffee in the kitchen … Gahhhh!!
Consequences, Barely Breathing, Strings…just a few. Kindle, please!
I don’t usually prefer the dark reads, but I would have to say The Final Piece, as that one was not a comfortable read for me. Congrats, and Kindle please.
Ooo…lemme think! The Fantasyland Series by Kristen Ashley is definitely one. I had trouble getting over the way the woman were treated in the beginning. ( raped for example), but I looked past it and they are actually some of my favorite books now! And of course 50 Shades of Grey! I’m not a fan of the whole “punish” thing. And I found myself blushing while looking around the room to make sure no one noticed. It made me feel very scandalous! =) Lol. I just knew my husband could tell by my face what I was reading. But as everyone else knows, its a beautiful love story and I soon fell in love!
I’m a wimp when it comes to dark reads! So my out of my comfort zone reads are more of the smutty type π I’ve been enjoying m/m/f reads like Zane. Kindle please.
Congratulations on your latest milestone! I would definitely have to say The Dark Duet. Loved them! Kindle please.

Flawed by Kate Avelynn…I was surprised by how much I liked it. Kindle, please.
Hmm… I can’t really think of any but I will be reading the Dark Duet after Stealing Harper. Congrats on 22000 likes! Kindle please!
I’d have to say Consequences / Truth….I still can’t tell you if I like these books. But the way I felt while reading them was defiantly out of my comfort zone. Only because of you and your Facebook followers did I eve read Truth lol!
Thanks for the giveaway….kindle please.
Congrats on reaching 22,000 readers! The series that took me out of my comfort zone was the Dark Duet. The subject had me cringing, but I was rooting for them in the end and couldn’t understand why. A kindle gift card would be appreciated. Thanks!
Congrats on hitting 22,000!! The series that really took me out of my comfort zone was The Dark Duet Series by C.J. Roberts. During and even after reading it, I kept having this inner battle with myself. But I love the series and I CANNOT wait till Epilogue comes out. (Kindle, please)
I would have to say the masters of the shadowlands series took me out of my comfort zone, but its also one of my favorite series. Kindle please
Going Under!
I <3 my Nook and your recommendation's!!! Thanks!!
Undeniable for sure. Congrats! Kindle pls!
Congrats on hitting 22,000. I’m amazed!! Your following is well deserved. I’ve read several books that when I start them I feel out of my comfort zone but by the time I finish them I’m jonesing for more.
Consequences. Kindle please
Congrats!!! I’d say Undeniable…but I did love it. Kindle please
Congrats!!! Thank you for all your great reviews!!! The hardest boom for me was, In the stillness by Andrea Randall. Once I continued to read I loved the story but struggled with the cutting and feelings towards her children! Kindle π
Congratulations! Dark Duet Series…Kindle please
Rule of Three by Kelly Jamieson. Kindle please
Read not boom, silly phone!
WOOHOOO! Congrats, Maryse! Now lets see, I think I’d have to say Double Time by Olivia Cunning. Don’t get me wrong, I abso LOVED the book, but it’s one that made me blush more than once, which isn’t easy to make me do! LOL And if I win, I’d like the Kindle card please. π
congrats, Maryse!!! It really is quite the achievement.
I would have to say, Shades of Grey series got me outside of my comfort zone and introduced me to a whole other naughty side I did not realize I had hidden in me. I have both Nook and Kindle applications to either or is good for me.
50 Shades :-). Kindle please and congrats.
Congrats Maryse!!! Mine would be Fifty Shades of Grey. Even tho I have read a ton of books since then at that time I could not believe what I was reading but I loved it! π kindle please!!
Way to go !! Dark Duet was the one , I would put down then pick back up! If I win, Kindle please;)
Sleeping Beauty’s series by Anne Rice. Congratulations
The Dark Duet!! But Loved it!!!! Kindle please!!! Congrats!!
The dark duet. Kindle or nook
Undeniable and Unbeautifully! But loved them both and definitely two of my all time favorite reads. Kindle please. Congrats!
Congrats Maryse! Just read Abduction by Varian Krylov. Extremely dark and a bit disturbing but what can I say??? Sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone π
Oops….got a bit excited…. Kindle please π
For me it was a tie between Consequences & Truth by Aleatha Romig and The Dark Duet series by CJ Roberts. They both took me a while to gain the courage to read them, but once I did I was completely submerged into the story lines. I loved them! (Kindle)
Undeniable. The motorcycle club book.
The Dark Duet series. I never thought I could like that kind of book but I was very wrong. I can’t wait for the epilogue! Kindle
Congrats Maryse on your success. Yours is my favorite book blog! Keep up the great work. Most books by Megan Hart, especially Tempted. Truth/Consequence freaked me out. Faking It by Elisa Lorello. Kindle if you please. π
Congratulations! The consequences series was an uncomfortable read for me but I enjoyed it! (Kindle)
Well just like almost everyone esle here……Captive in the Dark & Seduced in the Dark by CJ Roberts, I trusted your reviews and loved the books. Congrats on the FB likes π
I loved Real and its characters Remy and Brooke. It’s not something I would normally buy on my Kindle but your blog has helped me to branch out and read new things or find other things in my reader zone! I loved this story with all its imperfections! Thanks for opening my eyes to a new book Maryse! I want to be just like you when I grow up… Or retire!
Congratulations Maryse!!
I think Consequences by Aleatha Romig took me out of my comfort zone and really pushed me. I ended up enjoying the book a lot! Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas was another that really pushed me but despite reading it a while ago, I’m still unsure if I actually enjoyed the book or not!
The Tied Man by Tabitha McGowan.
CONGRATS!!!
Undeniable ~ kindle please
How great for you! Love your blog! Captive in the Dark was my first dark read, stayed up all night reading it, loved it.
Congrats!!
The book that made me the most uncomfortable was probably Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I have never read about so much manipulation, eff’ed uppery in my life! Good book though!
Kindle please! π
Congrats Maryse. My book was Prisoner of My Desire. The first time I read it I was blown away. It’s pretty tame compared to some of the thing out now. I think FSOG was on the next level. Kindle please.
Double Time was out of my comfort zone. Kindle please. π
Dark Duet….Congrats….Kindle please
Comfort food. Kindle. Congrats!
Undeniable with the blatant cheating was a bit much but I loved the book! Congrats on the 22,000 likes! Kindle please…..
I was a ‘virgin’ before Fifty Shades but now I’m hooked to the hot and heavy books on my Kindle!!! Congrats!!!
Consequences and Truth…. I really didn’t want to like him, but………ugh. π
Kindle. Congratulations!
Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma is a heartbreaking story. You can’t help but pull for the main characters even though you know their “situation”. Kindle please!
Congratulations! The Dark Duet series. I did end up enjoying the books and am looking forward to book 3 release in June. (Kindle please)
Fifty shades definitely! Congrats on the 22,000, your blog is the best! Kindle please π
Undeniable by Madeline sheehan. The most messed up book you’ll ever love! Congrats! That’s a huge accomplishment! Kindle please. π
For me it would have to be 50 shades of grey.
Nook please!
Congrats Maryse! I would say recent books that have been difficult reads would be Going Under and The Final Piece. Both are wonderful books. But difficult subject matter.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! OK, so The Opportunist completely screwed with my head. I could not get that book out if my head! The most uncomfortable book that I’ve ever read has to be Nabokov’s Lolita. I know its an old classic but the subject matter and reading the story thru the eyes of a predator made the book difficult to read, definitely took me WAY out of my comfort zone.
Oh and kindle please!
The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty. Loved it!!
If I am lucky & you pick me I would love a kindle card
Congrats!! For me it would be Captive In the Dark by CJ Robert. Kindle please
Congrats and thank you for all you do! I think the first book to really “shock me” and put me outside my comfort zone was Generational Sins- first page had my eyes popping out and second guessing my purchase.
Congrats! You rock! Mine would be the Sweet Series from Maya Banks. Loved it! Thought the “club” scene would be too much for me, apparently it wasn’t. π
Kindle please.
CJ Roberts-Dark Series…..it was something else but loved it!!
Congratz!!! Any book with child abuse takes me out of my comfort zone. I’ve read so many but my first was Heart on a Chain by Cindy Bennett. It’s just something about these characters that have gone through so much and find there true love that gets me every time. Kindle please!!!
Favorite book was Collide but A book/books that had me intrigued and uncomfortable at the same time has to be the Consequenses series!
22,000 THANKS!!! Undeniable
Kindle please!!!!!
It would have to be Beyond Shame and Beyond Control for me, I couldn’t read these books around anybody without feeling guilty at how much I enjoyed them. The steamy scenes made me feel so dirty! in a good way:)
oops forgot! Kindle please:)
Congrats Maryse!!! And thanks for the great giveaway!
The consequences series! Nook please : ) congrats!
The dark duet and consequences. And comfort object. Your review led me to that one! :). Nook please!
Oh forgot to list my book…”Thoughtless” when Kellen and Kiera were having sex while Denny was in the next room asleep. That book drove me insanely, deliciously crazy!! And the Consequences series is second, because of all the abuse.
I can’t seem to get is all in one post. Hahahahaha!! Kindle please!
Congratulations on the 22,000 likes!!! So the book that took me out of my comfort zone was Double Time by Olivia Cunnings. Now I love her books especially the Sinner’s Series but Trey’s story was crazy! Thanks for the giveaway! (Kindle gift card works for me).
Sounds like its going to be unbeautifully, please pick me!!! Kindle pretty please-congrates!!!
My first steamy book was stuck with you and after that i love this gender
Congrats on the 22000 like!!!!
Hmm, the most scandalous and maybe it was because I was 17 and a virgin when I read it, was probably Story of O. It wasn’t the first book with sex I ever read, or even on the first darker book I read, but it went way beyond what I was expecting. I’ve read a little of everything since then, and even before then.
Definitely kindle if I’m picked.
Congrats on 22K! I would have to say that 50 Shades is what first brought me out of my comfort zone, and there have been many more since! Kindle please!!!
I have to go with fifty! I loved the books, couldn’t put em down, but not my norm nor did I have the crush on the guy. Instead I was cussing at him & wondering why she would put up with it. Not my dream guy, but books were still 5 star for me. Congrats Maryse! Nook please
Just finished Until I Break by Michelle Leighton, and loved it, though it was very dark in parts! Kindle, please…. congrats on the milestone!
I hate reading books about cheating. So when I started reading Thoughtless, I actually had to put it down for awhile. I eventually finished it and I am so glad I did. I fell in love with Kellan Kyle! If I hadn’t finished the first one, I wouldn’t have been able to read the awesomeness that was Effortless and then conclude the series with Reckless.

The books that make me *blush* admitting I loved them? The only book I find hard to admit I’ve read & reread them?
The Beauty Trilogy by Anne Rice (can be bought in an all in one or separately)…. More specifically the book I loved in the series….
BEAUTY’S PUNISHMENT By Anne Rice (written under pen name: A. N. ROQUELAURE

Captive in the dark and Seduced in the dark…
Congrats on 22,000!!
I am a Kindle girl π
I have two series that had me out of my comfort zone. The first was the Fifty Shades Trilogy. I had never read anything like that before, but to be honest, the scene with the NDA bothered me more than the BDSM. I nearly stopped reading at that point. I’m glad I didn’t.
The second is the Love Me With Lies series. I have never read books where I dislike the main characters so much yet still understand them and empathise with them and cannot stop reading.
I am a Kindle girl π
Well, Deuce was definitely my first “loved the bad boy that was really, really bad” But I have to give credit to Fifty Shades for opening up my reading world. What a great giveaway…. a nook gift card would be awesome!
Definitely Cut and Run. Guy couple other than Blay and Quinn is something I wouldn’t have picked up unless you recommended it. And guess what? A love story is a love story no matter who it is.
The Dark Duet series definitely did it for me- it took me a while to get through both books which is unusual for me but I did enjoy them. Congratulations Maryse! And Kindle please
The Original Sinners Series by Tiffany Reiszβ¦so many twists and turns. Great writing but WAY out of my comfort zone. I couldn’t put them down. π Congrats Maryse! (kindle)
Strings….Bold, gritty, and straight up blunt…about everything! π

The Dark Duet series for me. Can’t wait for Caleb’s pov. Congrats Maryse. Kindle please!
Consequences and Truth
captive in the dark
Consequences and Truth on my kindle. Guilty pleasure π congrats to you!
The Mighty Storm – Samantha Towle.
It’s got sex, drugs and rock and roll and my taboo would be adultery and the drugs but this book is an amazing read and keeps you gripped. The background behind it all lets you forgive the mistakes made and keeps you hooked! Loved it π
Congrats at 22K – I second Game misconduct by Bianca Sommerland and the Dark Duet;
congratulations! the flowers in the attic series really affected me. 50 shades did also at the time. kindle please.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I cant think of any that were “scandolous” but I’ve had a few that have left me traumatized. The Opportunist, Avoiding Commitment, Fifty Shades, as well as Bound Together all left me wondering if I would ever get out of the book funk I was in.
Kindle please!
The Dark Duet for sure. So dark but I loved it!!!
Congrats!!!!
Consequences and Truth by Aleatha Romig
Nice work on the 22K!
Oooh, probably the Dark Duet & Consquences series’. Both of them really threw me for a loop! Extremely dark, but delicious!

Congrats!!! Too many to choose from but I’d have to say Undeniable. The age difference, the use of the f word, the sex…it was all so bad, but so very very good!!! Kindle pls!
Congrats! My 1st uncomfortable read was Fifty Shade so Gray-since then I’ve ready so many differnet things and love it! Nook please!
Hmm. . . the first book that comes to mind about something totally out of my comfort zone is Me Before You. I had no idea you could schedule an assisted suicide. I bothered me for weeks. Fifty Shades seriously changed my reading habits and completely changed what was a comfort zone for me! Thanks and congrats on 25,000!
Until I break..did it for me. Contests..kindle please
I haven’t read anything ‘dark’ per se. But making my way thru my TBR. Congrats, M! Kindle please!

Consequences by Aleatha Romig! I did not know what I got myself into until I came across the scenes that made me go O_O OHHH EM GEEE. I was shocked..intrigued and excitedly disturbed I could not put the book down as much as it made me feel uncomfortable that I pushed through it and eventually LOVED IT!
If given the chance to win.. I would prefer the Amazon card. =)

Um…The Dark Duet definitely. I recently read them and I am still just trying to take it day by day…..It was a mind mixer for sure! Even Tony and Claire didn’t get to me like Caleb and his kitten….
Congrats on your 22,000 likes!
That’s a rather large book loving cult you’ve amassed, my dear! I’m so happy to be apart. Kindle Please!
Natural Law by Joey Hill… First BDSM novel I read. Excellent book, but not an easy or comfortable read for me.

Definitely Consequences by Aleatha Romig.

I started consequences, but haven’t been able to finish it! I am trying though.
Congrats! I’m new to your blog and love it! Knight and Play and Knight and Stay. And, I’m a kindle girl ( :
Is it Ok if I pick a manga? I don’t read a lot of scandalous books but My one guilty pleasure is Sensual Phrase by Mayu Shinjo. So wrong but so good.
I gotta go with Fifty Shades, not what I might pick for myself, but LOVED! And kindle please!
I’m going to go back a few years and say Flowers in the Attic. Course I was 12 at the time (ok maybe more than a few years) so it might not have quite the same impact on me now. Congrats Maryse….love your blog. Nook Please.
The Dark Duet definitely!
Kindle please
I think any story about siblings falling in love with each other is pretty scandalous. My first read into that type was Flowers in the Attic.
definitely the Dark Duet series. IT has opened me up to alot of other similar books as well and I loved all of them.
Congrats on the likes. kindle please
Congrats Maryse…The Tied Man is mine. Just recently read and LLLOOOOVVVEEEEEDDDD it!!!
Congrats! The Dark Duet for me it was hard but I ended up loving Caleb even though I knew I shouldn’t. Kindle please!
Holy Crap! 22,000? That is incredible. I think mine is going to have to be Undeniable & probably not for the reasons that others have about this book (near the end). The part that made me stop & put it away for the night (although it was probably time for sleep) was earlier in the book and had to do with a desk. I had a very hard time getting passed this part and the betrayal.
Kindle please.
Ooohhh….some of the more popular guilty reads that I loved were 50 shades and Thoughtless series….but one that REALLY took me out of my box and I ended up SECRETLY loving was Imprinted by Darcy Sweet.
Congrats on 22k, Maryse!!!! Kindle please!!
Consequences/Truth by Aleatha Romig. Still not sure how I can be rooting for Tony after everything he’s done… but I am. π Love your site. Check it every day. Thanks for all the fabulous book recommendations! Congrats on 22,000!!
This Man and Beneath This Man is an amazing series bit had me incomfortable at times. I absolutely love this series and cant wait for the third one. Congrat to you!!!!
CONGRATS!!!! So I’ve read many books that have pushed the envelope but Double Time by Olivia Cunning had me blushing cover to cover. Kindle please!!!
Congrats!!
I’ve recently read Table for Three and The Barter System…never read mΓ©nage before…it.is.HOT! Lol! (Blushing!)
Congratulations Maryse! I have several books that have pushed the envelope for me: Fifty Shades was my first read in the “alternative” romance genre, Truth & Consequences both by Alethea Romig, Captive in the Dark is probably 2nd place but my all time favorite/appalling dark read is Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas. I don’t really consider it a love story, more of an obsessive, psychotic, terrifying journey that made me question my sanity for remotely feeling anything towards the male lead! That story f-r-e-a-k-e-d me out and sucked me in too! I wanted him to fall madly in love with her and make up for every horrific act he committed against her! Definitely one of my more disturbing reads.
Second Chances by D.L. Roan, three guys and a girl. Interesting but I wouldn’t be able to concentrate. ;-))
For me it was The Dark Duet….some of it I just couldn’t get past.
Captive in the Dark was my first super, dark read. Although certain parts were disturbing, I was completely enthralled throughout the series!
Congrats-Kindle please!
Consequences….kindle plz
Consequences & Truth represent the ultimate in “dark” to me. My feelings about Tony have me totally conflicted! Congrats! Kindle, please

Going Under by S Walden. Kindle please =]
Congratulations, Maryse! You keep reading & reviewing and I keep losing sleep π Thank you! ps-Love your idea of making a donation, too π
First congratulations, you deserve it. As far as a book out of my comfort zone, this year,I picked out some free books from the erotica section on Amazon, com and they make 50 shades look tame,I have to admit that I am still somewhat out of my comfort zone in that so so SO many books lately have become fixated on anal sex and tho Im not a fan of pain and some of the menage stories,I even liked the m/m like the Coulter series by Lauren Dane, but it just seems lately that so many of the books lately have a lot of anal sex which is out of my comfort zone totally -I guess partly because these guys are so alpha and dominant that I can’t help but wonder if underneath it all they are gay,why else the fasination with anal sex and even tho it didn’t bother me because I was expecting it,even JR Ward latest having Zhadist and John finally consumate their relationship tho I knew they were in love ,somehow it just didn’t feel right,I guess because they are so alpha,I can’t really explain it but I find myself reading it anyway. And if I win I would like Amazon,I have learned more about things that I used to think were taboo in the last couple of years from their books and I have a kindle that is just for the books that are either out of my comfort zone or that teach me about things that I never understood the reason behind it and by reading these books Im learning to be more tolerant and what my limits are.Its like I used to think that Doms were just into giving pain but from my reading,I understand now that its more a matter of trust for a true Dom and sub relationship which I never understood before and even tho there are things that I know would be way out of my comfort zone,I have come to understand why some people have those needs so i am less critical, but it has taught me what my limits are and for that I am grateful.
guess I forgot-I would like Kindle, dont have a nook thanks
