So what’s everyone doing for Valentine’s Day? Big plans, or snuggling in? Me? I’m reading!! :D Big romance coming my way tonight, but in an angsty sounding book. A bit darkish too, so I may need emotional support tonight. It’s called Volition, and a few fellow readers have just finished and loved it!

Summer: Was up until 3am reading a really great book! It’s called Volition by lily paradis. I am not sure if it’s 5 star for me but the writing was excellent. It went from present to past through the entire book which I am really not a fan of BUT I could not put it down. I had to know what happens. It’s a love triangle but not in a way I have really seen before. Because it’s been a long time since I happened upon a book I could not put down I just had to share :)

Janet: I agree. Loved this book, I read Tight right after and I’m a huge fan of A. Torre and it was good, but I just couldn’t get this one out of my head. So totally f***ed up!!!!!!!

Maryse: This is the one I’m reading now!! YAY ME!!! I’m scared. Hold me?

But! For those also staying in and looking for something to read, here are a few fantastic looking super-bargains and a few new releases, too!

  1. Beautifully Awake & Beautifully Done: The Box Set by Riley Mackenzie <— Anita found it for us! “Hey Maryse! I just ran across a sale of the box set Beautifully Awake by Riley Mackenzie. It’s a limited time offer but that’s a steal!!! 2 of my favorite books ever! Just wanted to share!!” and Linh loves it! “I am reading Beautifully Awake from the list of reader’s recommendation and I am LOVING it so far.  I was in such a book slump but Chase Colton’s Alpha-ness is bringing me out of it.” and Robin agrees: “Chase Colton has more than his share of OH NO HE DIDN’T moments! 4. Freed: A Club Sin Novel (Club Sin series Book 4) by Stacey Kennedy <— Super-Sale and it sounds so good! I’m thinking her husband passed away… “Charles, had been her ultimate fantasy, a seducer in the erotic dance of dominance and submission. She misses the sensual lifestyle they shared, but mourns him so deeply she cannot bear to embrace her submissive needs with another Dom—until a man who exudes temptation reawakens desires she can no longer deny.
  5. Flawed by Kate Avelynn <— Taboo-ish read!! And it’s on supersale AND I reviewed it a couple of years ago.
  6. Looking for Alaska by John Green <— super-author of “The Fault in our Stars” has just put this one on sale! BIG sale! “…his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young.

Reluctant to leave his wife, Casey, alone at their home in small-town Maine, Rob brings her and their two daughters back with him to New York while he finishes the album.

  14. Completion (The Kane Trilogy Book 4) by Stylo Fantome <— NEW RELEASE (that book up there to the left!!) :D Book #4 in the trilogy. LOL!! That’s riiiiight. I. Said. Trilogy. ;) *snort* But this is one Dark series that I think our fellow readers are HAPPY to keep reading… AND AND AND! It’s SUPER-bargain priced! Here is the Kane Trilogy Series Reading Order and lemme tell you, the recommendations for this series are INTENSE!!! Dark and perfect for us! Just check out what everyone says about him…

Lis: I f’n loved Jameson! So sexy and dirty! *fans self*  Another author who’s books I will automatically one click!

Lauren: Jameson is such a d*ck….but I love him anyway.

Lee: They were good, I would give them 4-4.5 stars.

Tessa: I agree with Lee.  Tense, exciting, angsty, emotions…  So many great things in these books.  I want the three out so badly.  I didn’t even blink before starting two.  I couldn’t put either book down, even with the tension building like crazy.

Looking forward to your thoughts on Volition Maryse! I’ve been eyeing that one since it released ;)

Maryse February 14, 2015 at 5:41 PM

I’ll likely have it up by tonight to tomorrow. :D

Tracy February 14, 2015 at 6:58 PM

I’m almost done with Compeletion. I just love Tate and Jameson!

Lauren February 14, 2015 at 7:15 PM

Book 4 of the Kane Trilogy is a novella & some extras like deleted scenes from books 1-3 & an “interview” with Jameson & Tatum. It starts 2yrs after book 3 ends. I think the author had wanted to do an extended epilogue but it turned into a book as she wrote. I read it last night & LOVED it!!! Absolutely perfect ending to their story.

Lise February 14, 2015 at 7:23 PM

I finished Volition yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to a discussion after others read it too.

Renee February 14, 2015 at 8:06 PM

Oooo yes! What a great sale..Beautifully Awake and Beautifully Done are awesome, LOVED them!! Looking forward to reading Jacked! Thanks for always keeping us up to date Maryse!

natascha February 14, 2015 at 8:41 PM

Happy Valentines day!! I’m also spending mine at home. Actually snuggled up to the hubby about to start Violition! Eeep

Maryse February 14, 2015 at 8:45 PM

My pleasure my friends!! :)

Maryse February 14, 2015 at 8:45 PM

Yay natascha!!! we’re reading it together. :)

Amy February 14, 2015 at 9:16 PM

Yep, reading here too! Though I don’t know what yet…maybe Kaleidoscope Hearts or Withering Hope? Coin toss time!! :D

I’m curious to see what you think about Volition. Cheryl needed a stuffed manatee snuggle at one point. And Tessa snuffled on him earlier after reading Flawed, but he’s clean now. ;) I’m sayin’ nothin’ about it until you’re finished. Well, I already did on the other page but ignore those comments. Tate is a crazy hot mess (maybe even a tad neurotic!) but I liked that about her. ;)

Amy February 14, 2015 at 9:20 PM

Oh, and drink of choice tonight is champagne with fruity Modern Cocktail toppers to go with my See’s chocolates. Reading, champagne, chocolates…I’m set! My poor hubby has no idea where he fits in with all that. *giggle*

Maryse February 14, 2015 at 9:35 PM

I don’t know what to think yet about any of it… her high school self is of a privileged obnoxious mean girl but darker. Meaner. And her crew (other than Catherine), so far is… just as ick. I don’t know what to expect with this… her today self, though? I actually kind of like so far.

Amy February 14, 2015 at 10:04 PM

Exactly! Mean. Girl. Selfish. Rude. Okay, let’s just say it…a b!tch. The present day version of her is the hot mess I liked though. That “her” kept making me face-palm and cringe.

Withering Hope it is! :D

Erin M February 14, 2015 at 10:47 PM

Snuggling up thisV-day for me. Gonna hit a Fifty Shades movie next weekend with some g-friends. I am 49% into Violition. I am enjoying but not sure what to think…I’ll be curious to read your thoughts.

Tessa February 14, 2015 at 10:59 PM

I have to say, the name got me one clicking. I got Prick, which I’ll probably read right after Completion. *grins*

Fabi February 15, 2015 at 3:29 AM

Tessa I had to 1-click Prick too. I’ll read it right after I finish Cinder. Tomorrow maybe? Idk but it got me. The cover, the title, the blurb and the super high ratings. Plus it’s a stand alone. I feel like I hit the jackpot. Crossing my fingers it comes through with a great story.

Kim February 15, 2015 at 9:50 AM

You guys, read the 4 book Kane Trilogy. HILARIOUS if you aren’t easily offended that is. Loved this series and hope Stylo gives Sanders his own book. Curious about that guy. Would like him to hook up Ang.

donna tanner February 15, 2015 at 10:36 AM

I clicked Prick also could not resist. I’m reading Fly by Megan Hart right now . Loved Dirty and Broken I thank Marsye for those finds too.

Maryse February 15, 2015 at 12:49 PM

I’m almost to the halfway point of Volition. I like it well enough but am struggling to read it excitedly. I dunno. I keep putting it down but I have a feeling the 2nd half is gonna blow me away so I keep going…

Amy February 15, 2015 at 1:58 PM

Yeahhhhh, Volition had that effect on me too. Hayden kept me going though. That man is longsuffering, I tell ya. ;)

Michelle February 15, 2015 at 2:16 PM

Almost done with Degradation and I’m liking it! It’s definitely a rollercoaster ride and both of them are pretty messed up but smoking hot together!

donna tanner February 15, 2015 at 4:13 PM

Yes Michelle Tate and Jameson I think will be my favorite messed up couple. I also loved Sanders. I was happy how the trilogy ended so was hesitancy to click completion why mess with a good thing. So I clicked anyways because everyone is loving it whats one more book

bev February 15, 2015 at 4:28 PM

I just started Kyland, 15%, and Jean was right. So, far I’m hooked.

Michelle February 15, 2015 at 4:36 PM

I got them all Donna and sooo happy this series is complete because that ending?! I would have screamed if I had to wait for the next book!

Fyi, Valentine: An On Dublin Street Novella by Samantha Young is up for free right now :)

Maryse February 15, 2015 at 4:47 PM

Okay… the mausoleum scene? PRICELESS!! Now I’m in!

Laura February 15, 2015 at 4:55 PM

Oh pieces of you and me book 1&2 by Pamela Ann are free on Amazon right now !!

Maryse February 15, 2015 at 5:26 PM

“Old Tate is sweeping back into me, and I let her in like Louisiana welcomes a hurricane— resentfully but without alternative. New Tate never stood a chance.” < —- Oooooohhhh Oh oh!!! ;) Gonna get ugly….

Amy February 15, 2015 at 7:15 PM

I remember that part…my chest ached and I got a little teary when she said, “He’s lonely.” *sniffle*

Erin M February 15, 2015 at 8:12 PM

Omg Amy I teared up on the ‘he is lonely’ part….as twisted as the rest of that was.
Maryse…I struggled with the 1st half but I reaaly enjoyed the second half. It’s a book you have to pay attention reading…for sure. I liked how it ended. Hayden Rockefeller…..I need one.

Amy February 15, 2015 at 9:05 PM

Right Erin?? When Hayden joined her in what she was doing at that part is when I really fell for him. *dreamy sigh* Oh! But when she said she wouldn’t burn to keep a certain other character warm, that was a toss-my-iPad-and-duck-under-the-pillow kind of moment! *eeeep!*

Yeah, I wasn’t overly impressed with the past scenes, and even the event that was the catalyst for her leaving was kinda no big deal (at least to me), but I did enjoy the present scenes in the more latter part of the book. Maybe because Hayden was in them so much. ;)

Erin M February 15, 2015 at 9:45 PM

I know I was so disappointed in the catalyst that lead to her leaving….I mean really!!! The whole book I was questioning her relationship with her ‘soulmate’. I didn’t get it. The end explained a little but still so many questions.
But I loved Hayden….Especially the end…with the Sharpie.

Maryse February 15, 2015 at 10:03 PM

I’m right there with both of you Erin and Amy!!!! RIGHT THERE WITH YOU!

So much angst… and then… well. Ok.

Cheryl February 16, 2015 at 9:24 AM

Finished Completion. Enjoyable bonus to their wacky relationship. I agree, they are one- messed up couple, but it works for them. It was just what I needed after reading Tight and Volition.

Not sure what I’m going to read next…

Fabi February 16, 2015 at 9:31 AM

I randomly ran across a freebie called Sweet Blood of Mine. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007X6DROA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1424096834&sr=8-1&keywords=sweet+blood+of+mine&dpPl=1&dpID=51u7cMJO1nL&ref=plSrch&pi=AC_SY200_QL40
It is YA (high school) romance with pnr elements and I am LOVING IT. It is so sweet and funny. A totally feel good read.

Maryse February 16, 2015 at 10:19 AM

YAY Fabi!! Thank you. :D

Tessa February 16, 2015 at 10:59 AM

I agree Cheryl. Wonderful ending for those two. Also, perfect for after a sad book too. It’s a totally different tone than the others, but I absolutely loved it.

Tessa February 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM

Oh, and The Return was released. It’s mine! *grins* I’m reading it after Prick. Thank you Fabi!

Fabi February 16, 2015 at 11:23 AM

I went back and forth trying to decide between Prick and Sweet Blood of Mine to read next. I really wanted light and Sweet and think I hit it perfectly. You’ll be done with it before I am so let me know what you think of Prick. I’d like to read it next if this one doesn’t suck me right in to reading the whole series back to back. I seem to have a weakness for excellent writing that simply flows and allows me to forget my surroundings.

Anna February 16, 2015 at 11:48 AM

I LOVED the Beautifully Awake series! Got connected quick, and didn’t want to stop reading once I started.

Amy February 16, 2015 at 12:23 PM

Fabi, I went to check out SBoM and accidentally clicked on the second book…the first thing I see is “Hellhounds ate my pants.” LOL!!!!

Tessa…The Return!! :D Do we need a hugging-jumping squeal? ‘Cause I think we do, if for nothing more than that COVER! *jumps and squeals while hugging Tessa*

Anna, quick question…do both books follow the same couple or are they about two different couples?

bev February 16, 2015 at 1:04 PM

I think I saw some comments on one of these threads about mean girls? It was maybe about the recent group read ? Anyway I was jjust reminded of a SEP book, Ain’t She Sweet. It is about Sugar Beth who was the popular, rich, mean girl of her small southern town. SEP isn’t really *dark* but does put her heroines through the ringer. She also does humor very well.
I just grabbed her Heaven Texas cause my library does not have it anymore. If you like reading about football players Bobby Tom is a good one.
Her characters can make some very questionable decisions but I usually end up caring and rooting for them.

Fabi February 16, 2015 at 1:36 PM

Amy I have so many quotes already highlighted and barely halfway done with the book. These kids, especially Justin, are so cute!
“I’d hoped for a light bulb moment, but ended up with a cranial power outage.”

Tessa February 16, 2015 at 1:57 PM

*squeels as well, hugging Amy* Half naked Seth! Yeah!!

Bev I love Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I really liked Fancy Pants, The Chicago Stars series and one I honestly only remember the ending. Its been a few years since I’ve read them.

bev February 16, 2015 at 2:17 PM

Finished Kyland. I wish I had seen more of a Journey in the middle and the end, but I did really like it. I’d love to see the Appalachian mountains.

Amy February 16, 2015 at 2:43 PM

Half naked Seth??? LOL!!!!!

Bev, the title Bobby Tom reminded me of a book I heard about called Mr. and Mrs. Bo Jo Jones…those names are awesome. *giggle*

Fabi, you are gonna be tied up for a while if you stick with that series! What is there, like 8 books or something?

Fabi February 16, 2015 at 2:49 PM

I have so many series started but unfinished that I actually created an “unfinished series” category on my Kindle app last night. I’m still trying to hunt down all the ones I want to continue reading to add to that category as a reminder to myself. I seem to do well with finishing trilogies but not so well when series get a bit longer or if I have to wait too long for the next book to come out.

Amy February 16, 2015 at 2:58 PM

*fist bumps Fabi* I feel ya on the unfinished series thing. :?

Tessa February 16, 2015 at 4:10 PM

Okay, Prick was sweet. Lighter on the angst than I expected, but still good and enjoyable. I wish it had more angst, but I did enjoy their sniping at each other.

Now… Half naked Seth. There really is a warming at the beginning that it’s a NA, not YA and even the parts where Seth is walking around with his shirt off are steamy.

So yes! Half naked. *grins*

Fabi February 16, 2015 at 4:28 PM

Tessa, you just made Prick sound perfect for me. I love the angsty ones too but can only handle them spaced wide apart and only with an HEA. For as old as I am, I’m a real baby in my reading tastes. Or maybe it’s that I’ve lived long enough to experience too much IRL. Ha! Idk but I think I’m the chicken of our bunch here.

MichelleS February 16, 2015 at 6:07 PM

I started The Lunar Chronicles Book !, Cinder, last night. Who recommended that? Amy or Michelle? probably… anyhoo… it’s awesome. I didn’t know it was a new take on the “Cinderella” story…. I know, I know… DUH…. her name is Cinder and he’s a prince… so it takes me a little while! She has an evil stepmother and two evil stepsisters and there’s going to be a ball… and I’m like, “hey… this sounds familiar”. LOL. Of course, it’s in New Beijing a bazillion years in the future where cyborgs and humans worry about the lunar people and war and a pandemic! So, right up my alley! Classic romance meets fantasy! woop! This should be good! and it is, so far. Such a totally clever take on this story.

MichelleS February 16, 2015 at 6:11 PM

I WAS going to go right into Book Two of the Life of Anna – but I needed a break from the harshness of that subject matter. I will go back, though. I am invested now and need to know more about Alex and to see if I am supposed to be hating or loving Devin, cause I can’t decide.

I also completely forgot about Pact. I should go back and read it. huh?

Amy February 16, 2015 at 6:35 PM

Nope, Cinder wasn’t from me. You guys get all scared from my recs. :P

I say yes on The Pact. Definitely. Speaking of going back and reading…I finally finished the last 20% of Shadowfever and it was great! Now the dilemma…I’ve heard so many less-than-pleasant things about Iced and Burned that I’m leery of reading them. To be honest, I’m okay with walking away from that whole world and pretending that SF was the end of it, even with some unanswered questions that I don’t necessarily need answers to.

Did any of you ever watch the series In Treatment on HBO a few years ago? OMG, Gabriel Byrne’s accent. Ahem. Anyhow, there was one patient he had who left his practice because she said he saved her and she didn’t want to give him the chance to disappoint her. That’s kinda how I’m feeling with the Fever series. I don’t want to give it the chance to disappoint me with all I have heard about it. :? Make sense?

MichelleS February 16, 2015 at 6:50 PM

Amy – I really liked Iced. I didn’t think I would and avoided it for so long, but them loved the crazy Dani that vibrated around eating her candy bars and getting several hot guys interested in who she would grow up to be! I didn’t like Burned, because it was a “filler” book. Not really any story-line, just recapping and stuff.

We get scared from your recs? Hey – that whole “Life of Anna” didn’t come from you and that is the scariest reading I have ever done – it’s kind of making the Tied Man look tame. IT IS JEAN!!! Don’t say it isn’t so!

bev February 16, 2015 at 7:03 PM

* Raises hand* I’m afraid of Amy’s recs, lol.
So, I too liked Iced, really liked it.I thought there was something fresh and fun about it. Now it did leave others with an icky feeling, so be warned.
I think E&P could be a great movie, if they stay close to the book. I thought it was a pretty * visual* book, if that makes sense.

So I’ve been dethroned when it comes to dark recs? Woo-hoo!! The queen is dead…long live the queen Jean! :P

LOL Bev!!!! *snort* <—— that is literal, by the way…I really did just snort.

Michelle February 16, 2015 at 7:45 PM

I recommended Cinder :) Hey that’s two good recs for ya MichelleS I’m on a roll! (reminds me – Fabi was Station Eleven a bust for ya?) I finished reading the first three books and the final one is due out in the fall this year. I liked them all but have a soft spot for any of the storyline involving Cinder. The next one is a play on Red Riding Hood and book 3 Rapunzel. There’s also Fairest recently published that is Levana’s story that I want to read but waiting for a price drop.

Amy, Iced isn’t bad if you liked Dani. It was still an ok read for me and I really am not her biggest fan…Burned? I’ve never heard of that book, huh *shrugs*

I’m working on the third Kane Trilogy book. I really like them, it’s non-stop craziness!

Amy February 16, 2015 at 7:47 PM

OMG OMG OMG!!!! I’m dying here!!! BAHAHAHA!! OMG!!!

Okay, okay…so a couple of neighborhood girls came over to raid my nail polish stash and play beauty shop. They know how particular I am about keeping it organized by brand, collection, etc., so no big deal. Anyways, my hubby didn’t hear me when I yelled upstairs to let him know they were coming up, and he comes strolling out of our bedroom with no shirt on…all 200 lbs of muscle and tats of him. The best part? He was scratching his, ahem, grapes. They started shrieking and giggling, and he yelled out in shock and it was hilarious! I told him don’t get upset and that he probably just ruined all other guys for them. *snicker* He’s not talking to me now. LOL!!!!!

MichelleS February 16, 2015 at 7:58 PM

Amy – your hubby is 200 pounds of muscle with tats? I’m so jealous…. I will live vicariously through you. Don’t you know that’s why we read these books? Because we don’t have Tate or Tack as our hubbies??? And you do? ARGH! You should be reading books about ordinary men to level the playing field. Sorry honey…. you’re the next best sexiest man alive, I swear! I never fantasize and close my eyes and pretend you are Rhage or Jamie Frasier… ever… never ever…. okay…. so who does Mr. Amy look like? Come on, I need a visual? I am picturing Jason Momoa here!!!!

bev February 16, 2015 at 8:06 PM

Amy, when I was done with E&P I had to check out the author’s web site. I have to go back & Look around cause it looks like she posts about music and books. Anyway she has a post on is Eleanor fat. How some readers may be really upset that she is actually over weight. I guess it is a question she often is asked. She had a quote about how Park sees her, love that scene. “A stack of freckled heart shapes, a perfectly made Dairy Queen ice cream cone. Betty Boop drawn with a heavy hand.”
For the post she uses a digital painting of E&P and links to the author’s gif of the drawing process. I thought it was neat even if you haven’t read the book to see the painting come to life.

bev February 16, 2015 at 8:09 PM

Jason Momoa~ I d have been shrieking to.
Poor husband. I could see why walking into shrieking girls instead of empty room would be traumatic.
It sounds like I’d probably blush and stammer if I met him.

Amy February 16, 2015 at 8:37 PM

LOL you guys!! Mr. Amy?? I love it! :D

No, not Jason Momoa, lol. Okay, let me try to describe him…alright, picture Bobby Cannavale with a little of THIS Javier Bardem thrown in:

And tats. Lots of tats. ;)

Amy February 16, 2015 at 8:57 PM

Bev, that’s awful if readers get upset over Eleanor being overweight. Good lord, not every character should have a perfect body and face and hair! Park’s attraction to her went so far beyond her looks, and that endeared him even more to me. That really was a good book!

bev February 16, 2015 at 9:32 PM

Amy, a little bit of Javier Bardeem is a good thing.
About the weight issue, I know right? Especially in YA.
I can’t remember exactly what Park’s mom said, but I remember she made me laugh when she got so angry about his face after that one bus scene.

Fabi February 16, 2015 at 9:37 PM

Good Lord Amy…you REALLY think those girls are coming over to look at “nail polish”? *snort*

One of the Kindred Brides books had an overweight heroine. It was done so well!

MichelleS February 16, 2015 at 10:19 PM

I agree with Bev, those girls are not coming over for the nail polish! Bobby C with Javier B, 200 lbs of muscle AND covered in tats? That is just not fair!!! You don’t need to read any of these books!!! Who do you picture? Your husband? (BTW – my hubby is not chopped liver – he’e more of a middle aged Justine Timberlake meets Simon Baker – if they had a older brother… LOL…). I never picture my hubby as the leading man in a book. Is that bad? I’m the luckiest girl in the world (next to Amy & her grape hunk)… but he never stars in the movies in my head. Anyone else?

Amy February 17, 2015 at 12:20 AM

OMG you guys are cracking me up!! LOL! Oh man I love y’all. My hubby would be *horrified* if I told him what you guys are saying about the girls…he’s still freaked out about it. it doesn’t matter that I was not far behind them, he’s still hung up on the fact that he’s over three times their age (they’re tweens) and he was in the hallway with them for all of, oh, like *2* seconds! Yeah, I have to say he’s a keeper…we’ve been together since senior year of high school and he still puts up with my kookiness. ;)

Justin Timberlake and Simon Baker?? Now that’s a hot combo! :P

Bev, his mom’s part in the story and how she reacted to things was funny!

Fabi, that reminds me of a book I heard about (and I am pretty sure I have) about an overweight heroine who ends up falling for her personal trainer. Dangit, I can’t remember what the title is though!

bev February 17, 2015 at 12:46 AM

MichelleS, Simon Baker has the best smile and hair. And eyes, lol.
I think it is sweet how both of you talk about your guys.

Could the book be He Loves Lucy?

Tessa February 17, 2015 at 1:41 AM

Amy, it’s Noah by Elizabeth Reyes. It’s the only “cougar” book I’ve ever liked, but it was so sweet, I loved it.

MichelleS February 17, 2015 at 8:53 AM

Tessa – oh, good topic… cougar books…. I haven’t read hardly any. The only one that comes to mind that I liked was one I can’t remember the title of. Her daughter died and she is grieving and he’s her daughter’s “friend” and much much younger. It’s not generally my thing.

I had to help my son with an essay last night and didn’t get to read much. BOO. So I am still finishing Cinder. So now that I know it’s a Cinderella story I am picking up ALL the elements, which makes it so fun. The orange car is the pumpkin carriage, right? And who is her fairy godmother? Is it the little android? And there will be no glass slipper, but she has that cyborg foot!!! Michelle, this story is just too sweet, and cool at the same time.

Fabi February 17, 2015 at 9:10 AM

Michelle, I did squirrel away from Station Eleven to read Cinder. I got to 20% then got sidetracked. I’ll get back to it shortly. I’m heading to Las Vegas today and won’t be back until Saturday night. I’m not sure if that means more reading time or less reading time for me the rest of the week.

Do you download all those freebies you post? If so, do you have a sorting system you can share with us? :-)

Michelle February 17, 2015 at 12:15 PM

MichelleS it was a cool story I thought too and yes there are little details that are hidden all over – no fairy godmother though and no perfect HEA which I like even more. I laughed out loud quite a few times with how witty it was. I really enjoyed the change in pace. I’m finishing the novella just out for the Kane Trilogy and then I have to find some pnr to go back to next.

Fabi, yes I download all the freebies I post and sometimes more! I do have a system on my kindle. I’ve made collections on my home screen titled FREE * (meaning 1 star), FREE ** (2 star), up to 5 stars based on my interest in reading the book and I sort them like that. So anything in my 5 star collection I want to read asap and try to keep it smaller so I get to them. I just add them right off my carousel on my kindle and then remove them from my device since they would take up a ton of space but that way they are sorted in the collections already and I can remember easily which ones looked the best if I want to download and read later. It actually has worked out well for me and having a folder with the ones I want to read the most easily accessible really pushes me to read them. I’ve been routinely checking for free books and sales since last summer and have gotten some amazing freebies and found now more popular authors with free books when they are starting out. I also like when someone mentions a book on here and I will check and find I got it free. For example, Amy mentioned that AM Hudson series a while back and I checked and found I had 2 of the books I picked up for free already. Ok I rambled on for too long haha but that’s my system.

Fabi February 17, 2015 at 1:14 PM

Thanks for explaining your sorting system Michelle. It makes sense and I need to set up something like that too.

Julie February 17, 2015 at 1:22 PM

Lots of these sound good! I couldn’t resist one-clicking Prick!

Fabi February 17, 2015 at 1:31 PM

Yea Julie. I’m starting it now. Hopefully a good plane ride read for me.

Amy February 17, 2015 at 1:35 PM

Vegas Fabi? Have fun!! :D You have to stop by the bar right outside of Hershey Chocolate World in NYNY…they have the most *amazing* chocolate martinis in all kinds of flavors, and it is like drinking a spiked candy bar! I had waaaaaaay too many when we went there in December but they were so yummy. ;)

Cheryl February 17, 2015 at 1:46 PM

Amy, too funny!!! It’s a toss up whether tweens are more interested in your nail polish or hubby!!! Older, I’d have to agree with Fabi!! ;)

Snow day here so trying to decide what to read, what to read…

Fabi February 17, 2015 at 2:18 PM

Unfortunately, my trip is work related, but I’ll try to sneak in a little fun in the evenings and find that bar. :-)

Maryse February 17, 2015 at 3:07 PM

Hey Fabi! I have a friend going to Vegas this week for a work convention too. Would be funny if you were both going to the same one!

Maryse February 17, 2015 at 3:08 PM

Julie that title makes me blush!!

Maryse February 17, 2015 at 3:10 PM

MichelleS I think your speaking of Ryan Winfield’s book. Ummm… Jane’s Melody!

I read that one. Very good!

Fabi February 17, 2015 at 5:44 PM

Maryse, I’m sure there are tons of conferences going on in Vegas at the same time. Mine is the the eLearning conf. So if your friend is at that one, I’d love to say hello. You can pm me on Twitter if you’d like.

Plane just landed. I love flying. I hate impersonating a sardine. :-/

Michelle February 17, 2015 at 8:50 PM

After Cinder, I’ve just picked up another cool read, Poison Princess, by Kresley Cole. Another series on my tbr for too long. It’s got me hooked though – very mysterious, apocalyptic, unique premise.

MichelleS February 17, 2015 at 10:46 PM

Michelle – is that part of her Arcana series? Or whatever it’s called? The YA novels? I heard they were good. I just can’t imagine Kresley Cole with no smut! She did it so well in Immortals After Dark!!! OH GAH! The werewolves that are Scots!!! swoon….

Michelle February 18, 2015 at 4:28 PM

Yep MichelleS it’s the first book in the Arcana Chronicles. I loved it! I’m starting on the next one tonight. There is still quite a bit of romance and the tension between Evie and Jack is hot even without overt descriptions…it’s in the realm of the Covenant series on the romance/smut meter so far. Jack talks with a Cajun dialect and calls her bebe and other adorable/sexy things haha. Now I want to find more books with that dialect because it’s sooo HOT…I’m finding it as hot as the scot accent we see so often. Anyone have any suggestions because I’m all ears ;)
