It’s going to be a WONDERFUL Veteran’s Day (and Veteran’s Day weekend)!! It’s back to feeling like fall outside (at least, here in Florida, where it’s been in the 80′s all week), and I’m about to make my slow cooker “Mississippi Pot Roast” yet again. OH YES!! I know I already made it two weeks ago, but I’m craving it again, especially after R just teased us with hers! And I think I’m going to make a nice banana bread too. OR!! A cinnamon raison swirl bread. OH I am all sorts of into the Holiday spirit!

So my weekend is set! Cooking, reading, relaxing and hanging out with my book buds!! :D

What will you be doing this weekend? Are you looking for something to read?

  • Crank (The Gibson Boys Book 1) by Adriana Locke <— LIVE!!! SHE DAMAGED HIS TRUCK… OOPS!! ;) “...she knows she’s in trouble. It’s not the busted headlight and dented grill that’s sunk her though. It’s the downright sinful man in front of her that’s the problem. The small town mechanic is broody. Rough. Smells like engine grease and gasoline and Sienna isn’t sure why that’s so sexy, but it is. It so is...”
  • Throb by Vi Keeland <— VI KEELAND ALERT!!! This one sounds like so much fun, and it’s super-bargain priced today! “...Eight weeks ago I signed a contract. One that seemed like a good idea at the time. A handsome bachelor, luxury accommodations, and a chance to win a prize my family desperately needed. There were some rules though. Lots of them actually. Follow the script, no dating, sex, or disclosing the terms of the deal. After my self-imposed moratorium on men the last year, it wouldn’t be hard to live up to my end of the bargain…so I thought. Until I realized the deal I’d made was with the devil…and I was in love with his dirty-talking brother…”
  • Breakaway: A friends to lovers romance by Heather M. Orgeron <— LIVE!!! UNREQUITED LOVE/BEST FRIENDS ALERT!!! “...I fell in love with my best friend while she fell in love with him. Ironically, it was my own damn fault. I practically served her up on a silver platter. So I turned to my second love, basketball, moving across the country to escape. For years, I’ve been sitting on the sidelines watching, waiting…”
  • The Fix Up by Kendall Ryan <— KENDALL RYAN SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!! She’s trying to squash her crush on her cocky friend… “My tempting and very alpha friend Sterling Quinn is someone I consider off-limits. It’s not just that we’re friends, he’s also cocky, confident, and British, which means he’s a walking aphrodisiac. But lately he’s been giving me the look...”
  • Malachi and I by by J.J. McAvoy <— JERK-FACE ALERT!! D.G. GIVES THIS ONE FIVE STARS!!
D.G.: ABSO-STINKING-LUTELY loved this book! I devoured it…Malachi was …do I dare say it…a jerk. Yep! He was a big ole jerk to ‘her’. Not a downright meanie but a jerk none the less. But come on…after falling and loving ‘her’ nine hundred and ninety-nine times who wouldn’t be a jerk. Or a little testy to say the least. Throw in Alfred who just made the book all the better and I have to say it was a FIVE STAR for me!!!! …FIVE star read my peeps…it has depth folks…so go ahead and one-click it…what’s one more on your TBR?!?
  • Christmas at the Candied Apple Café by Katherine Garbera <— LIVE!!! SINGLE FATHER GRIEVING HIS WIFE... “Hotel boss Mads Eriksson is not looking forward to the first Christmas since losing his wife. His six-year-old daughter Sofia has lost her belief in Christmas magic along with her mother, and he has no idea what to do. But an unusually festive business meeting at the Candied Apple – and meeting the beautiful Iona – starts to defrost Mads’ frozen heart, and suddenly life seems full of light and sparkle again…”
  • Annihilation (The Mystic Series Book 8) by B.C. Burgess <— LIVE!!! BUT MUST BE READ IN ORDER…. “If you love hot alpha males, strong heroines, paranormal magic, lots of sexy times, battles of good vs. evil, and epic love stories, you’ll want to one-click The Mystic Series today!”
  • When Dawn Breaks by Melissa Toppen <— LIVE!!! HE BEST FRIEND’S EX… OH OH. TROUBLE!!!!! “…when fate hands me yet another big f*ck you, I’m not even a little bit surprised. Why should I be? I mean, after everything I’ve been through, why not throw my best friend’s ex-boyfriend into the mix and see how royally I can screw this up too. It doesn’t matter that he loved her first. It doesn’t matter that he’s wrong for me in every way possible. It doesn’t matter that being with him could ruin everything. One touch and I already know it’s too late…
  • Sweetest Heartbreak (Sweetness Book 1) by Heather Bentley <— LIVE!!! HE’S FRESH OUT OF REHAB & FRIENDSHIPS ARE TESTED… AND IT’S SUPER-BARGAIN PRICED! R found it for us! “…Don’t date your best friend. But she and Eli worked through the awkwardness and are now firmly planted in the friend zone. Until she meets Eli’s other best friend, Heath, and true feelings are exposed. Fresh out of rehab, Heath Braeburn is Leah’s opposite in every way. Spoiled. Reckless. Impetuous. The only thing they have in common is Eli, who has been by Heath’s side through it all, including when his mom up and left years ago. A fact he’s never gotten over. But at twenty-four years old, it’s time to prove that he’s not the man everyone has come to expect him to be. Starting with Leah…”

The kind you never WANT to recover from. That’s why we’ll do everything and anything to protect it. When my past chases me all the way to The Outskirts, we have to make a choice. Let the lies destroy our chance at future together or…bury them deep in the swamp where they belong...”
  • A Steel Heart by Amie Knight <— LIVE!!! HE WAS TERRIBLY HURT IN THE MILITARY… “…six months later, after waking up to an inescapable hell, I found myself wishing that death had found me. Until her. Miranda Jacobs swept into my life like a cool breeze on a smoldering day. With her smart mouth and her ridiculous jokes, she brought me back to life one minute at a time. Turned out time wasn’t on our side...” And Nancy found us this one saying:
“A Steel Heart by Amie Knight came out yesterday & it is so good.”
  • Veterans Day Daddy: An Older Man Younger Woman Holiday Romance <— LIVE!!! SINGLE FATHER MILITARY MAN & HIS BEST FRIEND’S DAUGHTER ALERT!! HE’S only town for the Veterans Day Parade… and then he sees her… “…I’m standing at attention…in more ways than one. But it’s a different kind of look that matters the most to me. The way my little daughter looks up to her like she’s exactly the kind of female role model she’s been longing for for all these years. But there’s another look that matters too…the one her dad’s giving us. I think he knows. And I know I shouldn’t be doing what I’m doing with my best friend’s daughter. I should be shipping off, but all I can think about is making her my # 1 mission…forever.

I had a hot one-night stand with a really handsome guy I met online who didn’t even know my real name. Turned out Mr. Fling is a big shot for my company’s newest client. *big squeeeeeeezy hug*

P.S. I also planted cilantro today. :) Best season for it, right now, ’cause it’s not too hot and will last for weeks and maybe even months! :D

Grey November 10, 2017 at 9:47 AM

Lisa M November 10, 2017 at 10:21 AM

R. Renee November 10, 2017 at 10:27 AM

Ten Thousand Points of Light sounds awesome. Glad Krista chimed in! Oh the roast Maryse! So jealous. I think I’m giving up food until Thanksgiving!

Kooloo November 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM

Morning hunny bunnns… It’s -9* outside and there’s SNOW!!!!
I froze my little tookus off taking out the recycling and need my Barista Nespresso to warm me up!

Kooloo November 10, 2017 at 11:08 AM

I think I’ll start Ten Thousand points of light today before I gotta go to work… Thanks Krista for the rec and nice to meet another dork although I’m not so quiet!

Tessa November 10, 2017 at 11:23 AM

Maryse, make sure you pick the flowers of the cilantro. :) Or else it’ll go to seed faster (which just means you get coriander). However, once it’s gone to seed, just leave it as is, and next month you’ll have TONS more. It grows so fast. :)

I’m finally reading Dragonsworn by Sherrilyn Kenyon, and it’s like she fixed herself from the last few books I’ve read. There’s no confusing timeline jump or repeating what happened in the last book or two. It just tells the story and figures that if you haven’t read the prior ones, oh well. Thank goodness. It makes a new book, instead of one-third of a book and two-thirds of a book I’ve already read. YEAH!

Tessa November 10, 2017 at 11:34 AM

Grey posted in GR that Groupon has a coupon for free Kindle Unlimited for two months! I just tried it and it works even if you have a subscription! *does happy dance*

Kooloo November 10, 2017 at 11:36 AM

SOOOOO MARYSE I was up late last night/early this am finishing an amazing book called THE ONE (which I will tell you about later) and I thought you know what “Maryse’s WolfPack” needs…

RIGHT!!!! Ok so here are my 2 contenders for the MWP competition:

https://youtu.be/4G3IfQ7WnNk (Maryse that’s you in the front/right)

Maryse November 10, 2017 at 11:51 AM

Those were SO FUN to watch. Now I wanna dance. BADLY!!!!!! I mean I REALLY want to dance, not that I want to dance “badly”. LOL!!!! :P

Okay now tell me about “The One” :)

Maryse November 10, 2017 at 11:53 AM

Tessa, Cilantro is SO hard for me, ’cause I always buy it during spring-summer to plant and it is WAY TOO HOT here and way too fast… it bolts almost immediately. But THIS time I was smart. ;)

And I have one that is all fluffy and happy and has been that way for a few weeks now. Longest I’ve had cilantro! YAY ME!!! And yes, I will let it go to seed eventually so I can have more.

Maryse November 10, 2017 at 11:55 AM

I know R. I gave up doing groceries a week or so ago (I REALLY LOVE DOING GROCERIES – I’m an ingredients addict) until a few days before Thanksgiving, ’cause I know I’ll lose my mind that day. LOL!!!

D.G. November 10, 2017 at 12:12 PM

Krista – you had me at amnesia! Will definitely be checking this one out….

D.G. November 10, 2017 at 12:15 PM

Well, unexpected sick weekend for me…guzzling coffee, curled up under blankie, and popping meds. Leaves time to catch up on Complicated by KA…really loving it…duh, it’s KA. I can see so many character spinoffs from this book…

Kooloo November 10, 2017 at 12:35 PM

THE ONE (Have you met your match?) by John Marrs was my “now for something completely different” and I was NOT disappointed!

It had a really clever premise that was a mix of psychological thriller meets addictive drama with some dark twists that were a wee bit disturbing… and I FREAKIN’ LOVED IT! Don’t want to reveal too much because it’s best to go in blind with this one but it follows 5 different storylines of “soulmate matches” that I found surprisingly original and fast paced – and it made me think long after I put it down at 2am this morning!

So if you are looking for something completely Different, Dark and Dramatic look no further than THE ONE!

bev November 10, 2017 at 1:46 PM

Kooloo have you seen Amy’s dance when she is overcome by a book and needs to express It? Wherever she is she just puts the book down and dances. She’s amazing.

Kooloo November 10, 2017 at 1:54 PM

Holy Moly AMY you’re a STAR and a sexy one at that!!!!
I think I’m in LURV ;)

bev November 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM

Maryse November 10, 2017 at 2:39 PM

She’s awesome!

R. Renee November 10, 2017 at 4:02 PM

I was just thinking, dang it’s been quiet for a Friday, then realized I never subscribed.

Grey November 10, 2017 at 4:09 PM

Amy, I’ve been worrying about you… Check in please…

I’m think I’m going to read Drive this weekend.

I was planning on a nice relaxing evening at home… After taking my daughter to the orthodontist this am and getting our hair done this afternoon, but my bestie called me and said she needed dinner and a movie… And who am I to refuse a bestie in need, right???

Jean November 10, 2017 at 4:27 PM

I love the videos Kooloo and bev!

Kooloo, The One sounds good but a little pricey right now…… I’m on a spending freeze (for the second…lol).

D.G. – feel better! And yes, I’m wanting Ten Thousand Points of Light!

There’s something about the cover of Crank I really like!

Maryse, thank you once again for all you do and bringing us all together!

Welcome Krista…. don’t be shy around here!

Leslie M November 10, 2017 at 5:01 PM

D.G. November 10, 2017 at 7:09 PM

Hey Kooloo…not to rub salt in or anything but it was 83 the first part of the week. Sooooo not fall weather. Granted this is Alabama we are talking about but still. You get below 70 and I am grabbing a sweater!

D.G. November 10, 2017 at 7:10 PM

Jean the heat would be on for sure! And the extra blankies out!!!

D.G. November 10, 2017 at 7:10 PM

*scrolls back up to see Krista’s bitmoji*

D.G. November 10, 2017 at 7:12 PM

Kooloo I see what you mean…Krista’s bitmoji looks to be squatting with something coming from its mouth…Maryse, where did you get this bitmoji from again?!?

Tessa November 10, 2017 at 7:28 PM

*high fives DG* Right? I was in a sweatshirt too. Rain and 65 degrees here. Yes, people, weather-wise, I am a wimp.

That looks like a weird arm coming out of his mouth, but from other ones, I believe it’s actually a party favor.

Maryse November 10, 2017 at 7:40 PM

*grins at Kooloo*

*stares closely at Krista’s emoji*

Maryse November 10, 2017 at 7:41 PM

I dunno, D.G. The monsters bitmoji themes just came with Wordpress or??? Heck, that was back in 2009. LOL!!! I have no clue where they came from but they’ve been part of our crowd since the beginning.

Krista November 10, 2017 at 11:19 PM

Maybe it’s a foretoken! * hears a whisper to run! Before they corrupt you *!!

D.G. November 11, 2017 at 12:31 AM

Haha! Corruption…too late! Once you start, there is no going back!

D.G. November 11, 2017 at 12:32 AM

Next thing you know, you’ll be sipping martinis….

D.G. November 11, 2017 at 12:37 AM

*high fives Tessa back* sorry peeps…I was snuggled up under a blanket because it is *clears throat and glances over at Kooloo* kinda cold and took a cat nap.

Leslie M November 11, 2017 at 8:03 AM

I finished Cuffed. I liked it -
4 ****

The H was swoony and perfect but the h bothered me a smidge. She was one of those that pushes the H away. She had her reasons but it still prevented me from fully investing in her. This was an emotional read despite the cover making it look “fun”. There was one hilarious scene at beginning but most of story had me tearing up. Its dual POV and although some of you dislike that, I think its necessary for this story. There are also brief flashbacks from when they are 8 and they are adorable albeit heartbreaking.

Maryse November 11, 2017 at 8:20 AM

We like martinis here. :) All the kinds.

Leslie M November 11, 2017 at 8:58 AM

Martinis before 9:00 a.m.?

Hee hee :)

R. Renee November 11, 2017 at 10:47 AM

I think I’m going to pass on the martinis but if anyone has a cheeseburger…

Amy November 11, 2017 at 10:51 AM

ANY time is the right time for a martini!!!

R. Renee November 11, 2017 at 10:53 AM

Says the girl who did not drink all of the cognac last nigh…

Amy November 11, 2017 at 10:56 AM

Yes, yes, yes… *takes a bow* My dancing skills after reading are mind blowing. (And that clip is fitting considering bev swears I’m a 13-year-old boy named Andy. *snort*)

Aw Grey! *big squeezy hug* I’m good, just been busy getting my tail handed to me the last couple of days doing blood drives at high schools. I worked 25 hours in 2 days…but man was it fun!

Cheryl November 11, 2017 at 11:09 AM

Catching up to all this weeks posts. Yeh, I can finally read ALL weekend. Finally finished with all the home improvement projects been doing for the last 6 months and capped it off with hosting Bunko last night!! Now I’m sipping my coffee and deciding on what book to read next.

It is cold here- beginning of week was 70′s and yesterday dropped to 30′s with a bitter wind. Guess winter has arrived.

Made a great caramel apple sangria that was a hit last night.
https://sites.google.com/site/southyourmouth/wicked-autumn-sangria. Instead of the vanilla vodka I used Smirnoff’s Kissing Caramel vodka. Have to say the vodka is DELICIOUS on it’s own too. Also would be great in coffee on cold winter days.

R. Renee November 11, 2017 at 11:13 AM

Cheryl! This looks awesome. I do boozy posts every Friday on FB. Mind if I use this one? I’ll have to test it out, obvs…

Cheryl November 11, 2017 at 11:14 AM

Amy- 25 hours in 2 days!! That sounds crazy exhausting. Not a martini, but here’s a caramel coffee. ;)

Cheryl November 11, 2017 at 11:17 AM

Not at all R. Big hit with my bunko girls and I have some leftover for later!

Tessa November 11, 2017 at 11:40 AM

I need to get a decaf coffee for one with caramel vodka in it. That sounds yummy, but if I drink coffee at night, I’ll be up all night with my mind going NUTS. :) No thank you. However, decaf with something yummy, sure!

Nay November 11, 2017 at 2:03 PM

Leslie–I knew that Cuffed would be a ‘Leslie book’ when I saw you were reading it. Glad you enjoyed it.

OMG! That bitmoji is hilarious!!

Btw, I read Robin’s book! Squeee!!!!

Kooloo November 11, 2017 at 3:21 PM

Leslie did you know CUFFED was based on Bromberg real-life events!

Grey November 11, 2017 at 3:26 PM

Drive… I’m starting Drive. I’ve got chili in the crockpot. Making homemade bread. And honey butter. I’ve got a pie ready to go. And I’m officially done, book sequence initiated ;)

I’m jealous too D.G.!

And I just broke my spending freeze and 1-clicked A Steel Heart by Annie Knight! It’s getting great reviews and sounds like my perfect book!

Jean November 11, 2017 at 7:45 PM

Sorry, that should be “Amie” Knight

R. Renee November 11, 2017 at 7:47 PM

bev November 11, 2017 at 8:24 PM

Nay, that’s all you’re going to tell us?

Nay November 11, 2017 at 9:14 PM

I absolutely LOVED it! It’s one of my favorite books this year and I want a Darian Fox of all my own! I love Robin’s writing style and you can tell that she really put her whole heart into this. I laughed, I cried (THREE times!), I swooooned, I had to fan myself, and I got pretzel tummy!!

See my very preliminary review on GR:

R. Renee November 11, 2017 at 9:16 PM

OMG Nay! Seriously? I’m gonna need more Kleenex!!!

Jean November 11, 2017 at 9:31 PM

Nay, that sounds perfect!

R, can’t wait to read it! So exciting!

R. Renee November 11, 2017 at 9:40 PM

Thanks Jean! I can’t wait for you to read it!

Grey November 11, 2017 at 9:47 PM

Pretzel tummy!!! For real??? Omg, now I am super excited! *paces back and forth*

So I’m reading Drive … And I love the Playlist linking into the chapters… I feel like I’m living the book! You guys *know* how I am with the music and the words hahaha!

Jean November 11, 2017 at 9:49 PM

R, when is your release date?

R. Renee November 11, 2017 at 9:52 PM

Right now I’m leaning toward 12/26, but beta copies are out now and ARCs will be ready early December.

Jean November 11, 2017 at 9:54 PM

Very cool!!!!

bev November 11, 2017 at 9:57 PM

What’s this about Nay’s ladys bits? *snorts*

Can’t wait for my ARC of R’s book!!!!!!

bev November 11, 2017 at 10:11 PM

Bring up music….

Last song you listened to:

12/17/12 by the Decemberist.
Short but Beautiful and sad. Like how rich it sounds if that makes sense.

Jean November 11, 2017 at 10:15 PM

Haha Leslie! I didn’t want to be pushy and request an ARC, but since you did……lol!

I was just watching West Side Story so last song I heard was Maria…..haha….I know, sappy!

R. Renee November 11, 2017 at 10:17 PM

Of course you guys get ARCs! I thought I was going to have to force them on you!

LP (duh) Suburban Sprawl and Alcohol

bev November 11, 2017 at 10:25 PM

Grey you should make a sunday morning playlist out of the songs, I’ll listen to it as I make Maryse’s pot roast.
Should be an interesting list…whatever the last song was.

Jean I love show tunes.
*puts on singing in the rain*

Grey November 11, 2017 at 10:52 PM

I may do that! I’m listening to the Drive playlist, but the last song I listened to before this, was Lonely Together covered by Sofia Karlberg… So beautiful!

Leslie M November 11, 2017 at 10:53 PM

Jean, R. already told me I would get an ARC. ;) But even if she didn’t, I would get on a plane, pound on her door and shake her down til she gave me one. Ha ha ha

Last song: one of my fave’s by Chris Cornell *wipes away a tear* https://youtu.be/4i2ryOiH0rQ

Jean November 11, 2017 at 10:59 PM

Ha Leslie! Thanks R! Looking forward to it!

Nay November 11, 2017 at 11:12 PM

LOL, bev! I talked about them on my GR review for Robin’s book! Girl can bring on the steam!

Last song I listened to: Love Her Madly by The Doors. Why? It’s my favorite Doors song and ‘the book’ inspired me to listen to it.

OMG–when I was reading ‘Drive’, I listened to the Eagles ‘Wasted Time’ over and over. Don Henley’s voice…*swooooon*

Tessa November 12, 2017 at 12:23 AM

:D I can’t wait to get my hands on Waiting for the Sun. I’m just practicing patience until then.

Grey, I honestly couldn’t listen to the playlist while reading Drive. I kept singing to it instead. I had to go to random classical to stop singing. :)

The last song I listened to was Forever by Drake. I think it’s probably the only Drake song I like, but darn if I don’t adore it.

JulieO November 12, 2017 at 2:26 AM

Did I miss the recipe for pot roast?

Cheryl November 12, 2017 at 10:45 AM

R. I’m so happy for you and impatiently waiting to read Waiting for the Sun!

Last song; The Sky Is A Neighborhood by the Foo Fighters.

Kooloo November 12, 2017 at 11:47 AM

Last song… well that’s easy that’s my theme song ISSUES by Julia Michaels but the ASH Remix amazing DJ from Montreal Canada!!!!

Kooloo November 12, 2017 at 7:57 PM
