BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! L.J. SHEN’S LATEST IS LIVE!!! Scandalous (Sinners of Saint Book 4) ➔➔➔➔ ➔➔➔➔
And there goes another one-click to add to my Kindle. 😀 MINE!!! Sounds delightfully forbiddeny (’cause he’s in his 30s and she’s 18)!! Cold and calculating (and single father) that rarely speaks… and she’s going to get hurt.
“…He’s a single dad and my father’s business partner.
I’m just a kid to him and his enemy’s daughter.
He’s emotionally unavailable.
And I am…feeling. Feeling things I shouldn’t feel for him.
Trent Rexroth is going to break my heart. The writing isn’t just on the wall, it’s inked on my soul.
And yet, I can’t stay away…”
TGIF EVERYBODY & Happy first day of fall!!! We have a bunch of new books finds & some awesome feedback on recent releases to take us into the weekend! I’ve got a book review coming up shortly (I LOVED IT!!) and then I’m jumping into a new one, myself. 🙂
<— Quite possibly, that one to the left, since I read book #1 and have been anxiously awaiting this one. Or… Drumline (I AM SO in the mood for that one, and it’s been one of the most highly recommended books this month, plus someone in our crew compared him to Travis!!), or 47 Things and the sequel, One More Thing: (a 47 Things novel) that sound SO amazing and like it just might tear my heart out, and yet make me whole, too), or Vicious (Sinners of Saint) (since my book buds tell me he’s the ultimate JERK), or maybe I Am Watching You (because I’m always in the mood for a good psych-thriller and THIS one has amazing reviews).
Ohhhhh decisions decisions… the best kind of decision to have though since I want to read them all equally. Which one should I choose?
And what book did YOU choose for the weekend?
Take a look at what we found for the weekend!!
- The Evolution of Ivy: Antidote (The Evolution of Ivy, Volume 2) by Lauren Campbell <— LIVE!!!!! SHE’S A SUPER-STALKER & I REALLY ENJOYED BOOK #1! 😀 In fact, here’s my review of book #1 (and yes, they HAVE to be read in order). Here’s a tidbit of what I said to give you an idea 😉 “This stalker-story was calling me (she completely reinvents herself to get him). And Alessandra Torre recommended it, and well, you know me. I love her, and I love psych-thriller love stories (even if it’s bad love). And it’s pretty darn good, too.”
Donna: Bat sh*t crazy!!!!!!!!
Taking Avery: A Lilith’s Army MC Novel by Ker Dukey & D.H. Sidebottom <— BIKER WAR ALERT!! And they TAKE her! “…Avery belongs to Lilith’s Army now, after being taken against her will, but she isn’t just anyone, she’s a Cutter’s MC Princess, and they don’t take kindly to people taking what’s theirs. As Avery’s life starts to spiral out of control, she finds that her only hope of survival is to put her trust in the man she doesn’t trust at all...”
- Mercy by Debra Anastasia <— DEBRA ANASTASIA’S RECENT RELEASE & IT SOUNDS DARK!!! “…My father holds a grudge and knife with the same proficiency, and Becca is the focus of his hatred. And I’m the only monster who can save her.” And Stephany recommends it (but she’s looking for more like it, so bring on the recommendations!)
Stephany: So I just finished reading Mercy by Debra Anastasia and oh man I loved it! I was hoping you could point me to what I could read next because this one is one of those books that stay with you. I’m really hoping you have read it. Help!
Broken Shelves (Unquiet Mind Book 3) by by Anne Malcom <— LIVE!! SHE’S A BOOKWORM & HE’S A ROCK STAR… “…A quiet life. Maybe boring, but boring was never dangerous. Until I saw what I was missing out on. Who I was missing out on. The man who shattered my boring, safe life and lay it to ruin. The man I’d been in love with since I was a teenager. Who I’d been invisible to since I was a teenager. The man who just happened to be a world-famous rock star…”
- Chasing Shade by Sommer Marsden <— HE’S HOMELESS & LOST & IT’S SUPER-BARGAIN PRICED! And Nancy found us this one!
Nancy: I love those tortured heroes whether they are recluses, scarred, broken, or in this case homeless. Then comes the heroine to try to save him & all the angst that goes with it. CHASING SHADE by Sommer Marsden has been in my Wish List since 6/26/15..”Archie’s homeless, jobless, living on the road and clueless as to where he’s going.”
Solace by S.L. Scott <— LIVE!!! SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE ALERT!! “Delilah Noelle never needed much, but she wanted Jason Koster—one time love of her life. When misunderstandings tear the former beauty queen and quarterback apart, can a second chance heal their broken hearts?”
Nancy: Solace by S.L. Scott is released… Best 2nd chance romance ever!
- Up for the Challenge by Riley Hart & Devon McCormack <— LIVE!! RILEY HART M/M ROMANCE ALERT!!! “...The night I rescued the presumably straight Ethan Harris…twice, I figured that would be the last time I saw him. However, he keeps finding his way back into my life and into my bed. Guess he wasn’t as straight as I thought. Ethan’s full of surprises, though, and being bi is just one of them...”
- Chasing Vivi by A.M. Hargrove <— BULLY BOOK ALERT!!! Julie o found it for us!
Julie O: Finished Chasing Vivi a day ago and really enjoyed. It’s a sorta bully book for all of you out there who like those.
Red Winter (The Red Winter Trilogy Book 1) by Annette Marie <— SEEMS LIKE FANTASY ROMANCE ALERT!!! And Danylle recommends it!
Danylle: Red Winter by Annette Marie is amazing. I’m not sure how I missed it, I loved her Steel and Stone series. Have you ever watched Inuyasha ( It’s a Japanese manga/anime series)? The Red Winter Trilogy is very similar. Its a love story between a miko and a fox yokai (fox demon). This series is definitely worth reading.
- Rocking Standby (Reckless Release Book 1) by Cassandra Lawson <— LIVE!!! ROCK STAR ON A PLANE ALERT!!! “...how did I end up stuck as a standby passenger, hoping to get a flight? Not only did I get stuck in coach, I ended up seated next to the girl next door. Bentley seems sweet and genuine, a far cry from the women I normally date. At least, that’s what I believed before finding out Bentley is a deceitful gold-digger...”
Dear Bridget, I Want You by Penelope Ward & VI Keeland <— HUGE HUGE HIT, RECENT RELEASE & WE HAVE FEEDBACK!! JENNIFER LOVED IT!
Jennifer: So I realize you have a TBR stack of books BUT….you have to read Dear Bridget, I Want You!!!! Omg is is so dang hilarious and AMAZEBALLS!
Maryse: Oh I love those two authors!! And I have it!!! 😀 Yes I have to read it!
Jennifer: They have skyrocketed to my very fave! They’re individual writing styles are awesome but their collaborations are OFF THE CHARTS amazing!!!
- Hollywood Love: Book 3: A sexy celebrity romance (Hollywood Billionaires) by Jillian Dodd <— LIVE!! JILLIAN DODD ALERT!! Drama…. 😀
- To Save A Life by Michelle Thomas <— LIVE!! CHECK OUT THIS AUTHOR NOTE… “*How To Save A Life is a standalone mix of romance and suspense that includes no cliffhanger, and though it does have a HEA, it might not be the HEA you’d expect.* Okay. I dig it. 😉
First by Kimberly Adams <— RECENT RELEASE THAT SOUNDED SO GOOD & NOW WE HAVE FEEDBACK! Stacey & Johanna HIGHLY recommend it!
Stacey: Hi Maryse, I love your blog it always helps me choose my next book I wanted to ask if you have ever added First by Kimberley Adams to your blog? If not I feel it’s a must I’m normally terrible and never give feedback and ratings for books but this oh my!! I can’t remember the last time I fell for the characters like I did in this I could feel the love the hate the heartbreak I felt it all in this book and cried and two occasions I honestly have not had a book make me feel like this in years!!! Anyway just a heads up. Sending love from the UK
Johanna: Maryse, have you read First by Kimberly Adams? Kinda emotional and so good! The ending left me wanting more but other than that I read it in one sitting.
Drumline by Stacy Kestwick <— YEP!!!!! OMG YES, I KNOW!!! It’s yet again on the list ’cause now Chelli recommends it. This is one of the most highly recommended books lately and it’s EXACTLY what I want to read! And last week he was compared to my beloved Travis. WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?????
Chelli: Don’t know if anyone has mentioned Drumline by Stacy Kestwick. First time I’ve read one of her books but it was sooo good. College romance with sexy, sweet alpha male, strong heroine and perfect amount of angst and drama. Def gonna try something else of hers!! Perfect book to get me out of my book funk
- Winning Her Brother’s Best Friend (Tea for Two Book 2) by Noelle Adams <— LIVE!! HER BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND ALERT!! “...She definitely doesn’t need Ryan, who is always hanging around and has turned into a real player. When he challenges her to prove which of them is more popular with the opposite sex, she takes him up on the bet. One month. Four Saturday nights. She’ll show him she’s not still holding on to old feelings…“
- Birthquake by B.L. Berry <— LIVE!! HAHAHA!! Sounds hilarious! “Highly prone to spontaneous fits of delirium, irrational logic and violent, unpredictable mood swings. This individual has been sober, swollen and hungry for the past nine months, so proceed with caution and handle with care…“
Vicious (Sinners of Saint) by L.J. Shen <— BOOK BULLY SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!! I just one clicked it!! YAY ME!!!
Tessa says: BULLY BOOK!!! I was up until after midnight just reading, not wanting to stop. Sadly, sleep took over. I saw a bunch of you had read it, but I’m really loving it. He’s such a JERK and I wanted to kick him so badly mutliple times. I do have one issue, and it would have been better revealed earlier rather than thrown in but… He’s a total jerk and you all know I love that.
Kelly: I totally agree with Tessa. Vicious was in the top 3 bully books I’ve read. LJ Shen is an amazing author and the rest of the series is really good too.
D.G.: Hello!!!!! *jumping around and waving* Just got to say that I have fallen for the Sinners of Saint boys. Vicious and Dean are two of my favorite bad boys. Vicious such a total bully.
Donna: I loved this book and yes he was a JERK….
The Gamble by Alice Ward <— LIVE!!! ARRANGED MARRIAGE ALERT! His father gives him an ultimatum… “...And just like that, I wake up in Vegas with an epic hangover… and a wife. A beautiful wife. A fun wife. A caring and creative wife...”
- Sledgehammer (Hard To Love Book 2) by P. Dangelico <— RECENT RELEASE & WE HAVE FEEDBACK!! Cheryl & Lisa LOVED it!
Lisa: Sledgehammer by P. Dangeli went live this week. Lots of people loved Wrecking Ball which is the first book. Standalones but interconnected. I freaking loved both but especially Sledgehammer. Slow burn and laugh out loud! One of my top 2017!!!!
Cheryl: What a list Maryse!! Finished Sledgehammer, which I really, really enjoyed. It’s a standalone, but I would recommend reading Wrecking Ball (Hard To Love Book 1) first.

I can’t be first am I?!!! Good morning all. Happy Friday. It’s been a LONG week and I’m looking forward to my reading time.
Oh where where where to start!! Fab list today Maryse
*throws candy confetti* 😉
Happy Friday!
I am in a “don’t know what I feel like reading” mood. I have a bunch of challenge reads and a TBR of over 800 books, but can’t seem to choose. 🙁
*sigh* Book nerd problems…
Good morning – 4 more added to Mount TBR!!! That was a fabulous list!!!
TGIF EVERYONE!
Anyone who is in book slump, please read ‘Twist me’ by Anna Zaires! This book is SO GOOD!!! and got me out of a big ditch after trying so many DNF books. I’m over 80% in the book 1 and am going right into book 2 after.
Good morning everyone!!!! IT’S. THE. WEEEEEEKENNNNNND!!!! 😀
It’s the first day of Fall!
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!! I totally forgot!! GAH!!! And… YAY!
Oh, my back is killing me. And I have so much football to sit through this weekend. *cry* *waves pompoms anyway*
I’m doing my final proof of The Brother… Then not sure what’s next.
Happy fall! Yeah, supposedly cooler weather! Alright, not really. We usually have 80s all the way into mid-October.
I’m loving The Mafia and his Angel. It was a total random find,. I just wanted a Mafia book and just put Mafia romance in Amazon’s search, and it was the most popular KU choice.
TGIF everyone!!! It’s finally Friday!!!
So excited for next week and Racer going live! I can only imagine that he will be just as awesome as Remi.
Just wanted to throw out there…Muscle Matter and Until It Fades – both 5 stars for me!
Stylo Fantome did not disappoint with Muscle Matter…throw in a little (a lot) of amnesia and some soulmate love…makes for an awesome book!
I didn’t know it was the first day of fall…hooray! We had perfect fall weather a week or so ago. Sweatshirts and jeans, leggings, windows open all day, warm coffee. It was perfect. Now, it’s 90 and I only go out when I must, I can’t stand the heat. But I don’t like the cold either, 60-70 is my jam. Pumpkinfest is tomorrow and it’s my favorite festival, except it doesn’t feel right in this heat. 🙁 Drumline is still calling to me, but I feel like I’m gonna need something light and funny after this book. I’m thinking maybe My Life as a White Trash Zombie or Something Like Happy. Briefly looking through my tbr, it seems I don’t have too many light and funny, so any suggestions?
*anxiously waits for Jean to finish Bright Side*
In the meantime…YAY FALL!!!! Time for pumpkin EVERYTHING!!! 😀
*throws fall leaves around*
She finisheddddddddddddd!! I stalked her on GR 😉
Hey bully-girls!!! 😉 Did you guys see what just went live???
L.J. Shen’s latest!! I just posted it at the top of this post as a breaking news update, AND I one-clicked it. YAY ME!!!
*twirls and leaps in Amy’s pumpkin leaves*
Thank you Young!!!
Tasha, what about Wrong by Jana Aston?
Drunk Dial by Penelope Ward or Cocky Bastard
Egomaniac by Vi Keeland
I recently read Buns by Alice Clayton that was good…but anything of hers is funny.
Max Monroe’s stuff is hilarious too.
I think Maryse needs to sit down in those leaves with a cup of pumpkin spice latte and read Gaan.
Bully girls bully her into it.
*snort*
*grabs Scandalous* MINE! Muahahahaha *runs off with it*
Yeah Amy, I finished…..I’m broken on the inside, but it was just so beautiful. I loved every single character in Bright Side, but Kate…..well, she was inspiring and awesome and everyone should have someone like her in your life if possible! Her positivity was infectious with everyone she met! You couldn’t help but love her! Feeling like I have to move right onto Gus now because, well, ya know…. (BTW, I think I went through an entire box of tissues with this one)!
It’s the first day of Fall here and it’s 80 degrees with temperatures expected to be in the 90s next week. WTH?! I’m ready for boots and sweaters! Comfy clothes!
Maryse, yes, read Vicious! I loved that book!
Tessa, I’m excited about Scandalous too!
And thanks for picking Bright Side for me in our challenge…..shouldn’t have waited so long to read this amazing book!!
Thanks Leslie! I’ve read Cocky Bastard, wrong, and Tapping the Billionaire and Wallbanger, but I’ll have to check out the others you mentioned.
It really is one of my favorite books. The story just hit my heart hard.
Okay, I’m going to tell anyone who loves Mafia and emotions, read The Mafia and his Angel. It’s the author’s debut book and I really fell for it. It wasn’t typical at all, despite the blurb. I just fell for the characters and the book. Also, my sincere favorite thing, well developed secondary characters.
That said, I want the second BOOK NOW! not due to the CH (it felt minor compared to some), but because I miss being in that world already.
Wallbanger was hillarious! I had tears from laughing so hard.
Me too, Tessa! The Purina scene had my stomach hurting so bad from laughing so hard. I recommended that book to everyone after I was done reading it!
Bad Romance- really, really good. Definitely heavy triggers for me as I’ve been there before. The beginning and on, I really could see the falling and love and how easy it was to fall into the trap. I’m halfway now and the fighting has really started and because I’m older and wiser and this one scene is so obvious to anyone how unhealthy it is- I just want to shake them. Shake em both. I need to take a little break bc it’s making me tense. Lol, Off to make supper..
I’ll look it up Tasha. *looks at price* And see if my library has it. 🙂
I gave in and bought Bridget, I Want You. It just seems like that happy book that’s needed from time to time.
Oh, I forgot about Bridget. I’ve been eyeing that one too. And yep, my copy is library loan too. Even if I had the copy, I probably couldn’t loan it out to anyone. It seems to be the case with all the books I read anymore, the pricey ones that is.
lol Don’t we all have pricey books? I am still waiting for the next Seanan McGuire to be available there. I’ve 3 of 3 holds. *rolls eyes* It’s gonna be a while.
I could beg?
lol She might like it.
What I’m saying is, that all of the pricey books that I own aren’t lendable and it’s disappointing. It’s mostly the ones that are $7 or over. And anything under that is a toss up. I went on booklending the other day because I like to share when I’ve found a good one and I’ve got no one I know to send it to and almost every one I had wasn’t loanable. I wish more publishers would allow the lending one time at least, I feel like it’s reasonable. And also, I wish my library would have more of the self published books I’d like to read, even if they aren’t as much money always, it adds up. Some of the authors I like my library carries, like Jamie McGuire or Molly McAdams for instance, but not all of their books, only a few. It’s just a bummer sometimes when I’m hoping for a surprise! we’ve got that one. I do love library loans, it’s convenient and saves me so much, but the wait is insane and the selection can be slim. *that spiraled a little, lol, end rant*
Lol, Tessa.
But I draw the line at throwing penises.
Scandalous!!! Mine, mine all mine!!! Has anyone seen the cover?!? *pulls up a chair and gets comfortable*. Let’s talk about the cover…
the ‘book cover’ stops at his waist…the pic she has on Instagram announcing it is live goes a little further down…ummm, okey dokey
Manscape ✔️
OK, but what’s this about the smoking? It seems to be a bit of a thing on recent book covers. Has anyone kissed a guy who smokes lately? Ugh. Just, no.
Guessing it’s suppose to make him more of a bad boy??
Who’s throwing penises?? 😉
D.G., I am going to look up this sexy book cover you speak of right now.
Yowsa!!! That instagram pic of cover is *ahem* revealing.
I love the cigarette. It’s sexy because it isnt real. RL smoking gags me.
Yes I think that’s it, DG. But I hate smoking, so it actually just puts me off.
Leslie, to answer your question, idk……. I think I missed that comment too. LOL.
Yeah I see what you mean Leslie. But I still don’t like it. (the cigarette, that is, not the sexy pic on instagram).
I grew up with smokers, lots of people in my family smoked and once my parents split we were in bars every other weekend. This is when smoking was legal in resturaunts and bars so even more there. My older step siblings smoked too and when I was a teen a lot of the kids really were doing it. It wasn’t until after I was an adult that quitting caught on for most everyone. Now, the smell disgusts me and I’m so happy it’s prohibited most places, but still it somehow holds a place of comfort for me. Familiarity maybe. Nostalgia? I don’t know, it’s like when in the movies you hear someone talk lovingly about their grandad’s pipe tobacco. That feeling lingers a little. And on a bad boy, the look fits for me.
– I’ve finally put Bad Romance up for the night. I haven’t read a book this long in one day in I don’t know how long. Their drama and tension has exhausted me and I myself need a break from this couple. It’s all very realistic, I think, but any bad relationship takes its toll on all parties, right?
Leslie, definitely revealing…and just a little surprising because I was not expecting it. To the point I pulled the book cover up to make sure it didn’t match!!!
Awwwwww Jean… *snuggles Jean* Gus is healing. Think of it as Bright Side in reverse. 😉
I clicked Bad Romance before looking at the price, and I considered returning it but… *shrug* It has a hauntingly beautiful cover and intriguing blurb (plus Tasha’s reaction) so it’s going to be a keeper for me!
OH MY!!!! Bad Romance is going to be mine. HOLY MOLY how did I miss THAT one? Thank you Tasha!!!
Totally enjoying How to Date a Douchebag!!! Almost 50% in!
If R comes around she will understand. Finally saw the “spanning years and continents, lives ruined, bloodshed, epic” scene.
Plus got to love smells like marshmallows and promises. 🙂
And am now obsessed with Mike Doughty’s I Hear the Bells.
D.G. that is *cough* some pic. Gotta wonder why stop there on the instagram pic. LOL.
Finished Begin Again, did not love it. Now to pick my next read.
What’s this about throwing penises?
Jean, I read Bright Side a couple years ago and still my heart hurts just hearing about it. *hugs*
Well, it is Amy’s sure fire way to get Maryse to read a book.
But I must draw a line in the sand. 😉
I started The Evolution Of Ivy. It does have an Opportunist vibe, and the h is broken/crazy, ok bat-sh!t crazy due mainly to a traumatic event that happened earlier in life. As the story unfolds you see that the other characters are not as perfect as they may seem and are each hiding something as well. It’s told in different pov’s, that occur both in the past and present, which I’m liking because it helps to see where all this is coming from and where potentially it’s going. So far it’s like watching a slow-train wreck, you know it’s coming and it’s going to be bad, but you can’t look away.
Cheryl!
Not sure what happened with that comment but there was more to it than that…anywho…Cheryl aside from LOL definitely…the picture was just crazy, right?!?
I am just giddy as all get-out! Starting Scandalous! I have SO missed my Sinners of Saints boys! I fell so hard for Vicious and Dean…I can only imagine how awesome Trent will be! Diving in! Woohoo!!!
I really liked Scandalous! I did think it was a little bit slower than the others, but the feels were all still there. The way the story worked, though, really did lend to taking its time. I just really liked it (though nowhere near as much as Vicious. 😛 )
Now I want to read everything else by her! lol
LJ Shen books are awesome! Can’t say I blame you!
I guess there is only one more for me to read. Blood to Dust is an M/M where one male is definitely going to be more submissive, so nope for me sadly. However, Tyed looks good. 🙂 I read all the others.
Reading Tyed and yep. It’s good so far. 🙂
