HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!! Hopefully we’ll have an extra long weekend full of fantastic reads… ’cause…*whoooops*!!
It seems like a few of us are in a reading-rut this week. Now… there are a TON that I want to read from the latest lists I’ve been posting (I always highlight a few of the book-blurbs that are making me *squirrel* BIG TIME) so I KNOW we’ve got some GREAT reading potential and there has GOT to be quite a few 5-stars in the bunch, right? But looks like some of us have hit a small reading road-bump…
Jillian: NOTHING. I can find NOTHING TO READ!
Megan: How is that possible!?!?!
Andrea: Same here! Started a couple but nothing’s working out 🙁
Jillian: I know, right?! I feel naked. And alone. And so very sad.
Maryse’s Book Blog: LOL!! *hug* Hopefully my next one will blow me (and us) away…
Diane: I’m in a rut too, 3 DNF’s I may try a new genre for one book
Anya: Right there with ya! started a couple but can’t seem to finish.
Leanne: Same here
Mindy: I can’t stand it. I NEED a new author. I’ve read EVERYTHING by my favs and am in search of a new one.
*sigh* Yep… so hopefully this list’ll help (and maybe our fellow readers can chime in, in the comments with their tried-and-true favorites… 😀 Anyone?
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
AND a reminder: for those accessing my blog via their mobile device (phone or tablet) you’ll notice the look of it has changed (for now, that’s the “mobile compatible” version and I’m hoping we can get it close to the usual “look” while still keeping it “mobile friendly”). On a desktop computer/laptop the look of the blog is the usual one.

- What If: The Anthology by Chelle Bliss, M. Mabie, Aly Martinez, Erin Noelle, River Savage, Hilary Storm, Shantel Tessier, Alice Tribue <—JUST RELEASED! (and super-bargain priced). Oh what a fun concept!!!! Some of our favorite books had a little… “change” in this Anthology. “In these eight, never before released, novellas you’ll see what happens when your favorite characters take a different path. A twist on the fictional reality you’ve already read… What if one little decision changed everything? What if?“
- The Final Temptation (Men Of Honor Book 4) by K.C. Lynn <— recently released and Carrie says: “*toddles off to read the happy story of Kayla & Coop from KC Lynn*” LOL!! CUTE!

She calls him “Satan” for a reason…“
Predestined Hearts by Kelly Elliott & Kristin Mayer <— HER FAV BOOK EVER ALERT! She says: “I am a avid romance reader. I lean more to the suspense romance then other genes but this book knocked me for a loop. I always hear readers talk ” book hangovers “. I really never knew what that meant. Have books got to me? Yes. Predestined Hearts took every emotion I had inside and made me see it through the book. This book touched me so deeply. I found myself SOBBING out loud. I have never read a book that had me so in love with the characters. It took me two days to read. I had to put the book down and walk away a couple of times. It just hit me so hard. After I finished the book, I had to just sit there. I was in a daze. My chest felt heavy. It was the most incredible book I have ever read. It’s been about 3 days since I read it. I usually read all the time. As of this date, I still can’t start another book yet. This book has left my emotions raw ( in a great way ). I recommend this book to EVERYONE ! It’s a must read. Will I reread it? Yes. Yes. Yes. I will have to give myself time before I do that because my heart is still feeling the heartache and love from this book. This book is my number 1 read. It was truly an amazing journey. Thank you for letting me spill my guts to you…“
- Rome: A Marked Men Novel by Jay Crownover <— VERY interesting price indeed. Haven’t seen THAT before. 😉 (Thanks Nancy!)
- Jet: A Marked Men Novel by Jay Crownover <— also bargain priced!!
Flowers In The Attic (Dollanganger Book 1) by V.C. Andrews <— CLASSIC-TABOO ALERT!!!!!! oooooohhhhh a TABOO gut-wrenching classic from my childhood that marked me for life. And it’s on SUPER-SALE. I’m gonna get it. My old paperback is long gone.
- Happiness for Beginners: A Novel by Katherine Center <— RECENT RELEASE and NOT bargain priced but comes highly recommended by Cynthia. She says: “I just finished a book that was recommended to me by amazon.ca that was really great! I just had to share it with someone. It’s called “Happiness for Beginners” by Katherine Center. It’s about a woman who has been divorced for a year and she ends up signing up for this 3 week wilderness survivor camp to reinvent herself. However her brother’s best friend ends up signing up for the same camp – essentially ruining her plans. The blurb is great but doesn’t do the book justice. Helen, the main character is hilarious with her inner dialogue (I laughed out loud numerous times) and the best friend is so sweet and there were parts that were so touching – I loved it! I even teared up once. I found their interactions really fun, reminding me at times of “The Deal”, another book I absolutely loved. There is a road trip part that sort of reminds me of “the edge of never” although I’m only 62% through that. I stayed up all hours reading it last night and then woke up and had to read through my favourite parts again. I hope you get a chance to read it too and enjoy it as much as I did. 😀“
- Before I Go by Colleen Oakley <— SHE’S DYING AND WANTS TO FIND HER HUSBAND A WIFE ALERT! I’m bringing it back ‘cayuse it’s still on super-sale and wants to tear my heart out. She’s dying, she wants to find her husband a new wife, because she ca’t bear to think he’ll be alone, but… “As the thought of her husband with another woman becomes all too real, Daisy’s forced to decide what’s more important in the short amount of time she has left: her husband’s happiness—or her own?“
- Prick: A Stepbrother Romance by Sabrina Paige <— STEPBROTHER ROMANCE ALERT! ON SUPER SALE! “I hate him. He’s slept his way through practically every girl at Brighton Academy. Except for me…”
- Jake Undone By Penelope Ward <— on super-sale!!
- Penmort Castle by Kristen Ashley <— KA ALERT!! Ruth is loving it! “I am not sure why I put off her “ghost” stories. Just as fabulous as anything else I have read of hers.”
- SEX Unlimited: The Unlimited Series Complete Volumes by Kathryn Perez <— SUPER-SALE!!! Stephanie found us this one! She says: “This is the complete serial! Contains a 41 year old hero (I love an older hero)! Volumes 1, 2 and 3 of The Unlimited Series for only 99¢ for a limited time.”
- Room For You (Cranberry Inn Book 1) by Beth Ehmann <— Stephanie found out that each book in this series was on sale at a rock bottom price! And Author Beth Ehemann said, “On sale for the last time ever under my control.”
- Lingus by Mariana Zapata <— This is what Andrea recommended to Betty, when Betty asked: “I need a book to cleanse my palate. I just finished reading the Driven series and I must say, the over the top drama just made me want to vomit. yet I don’t know why I finished all three books…maybe to torture myself? 😀 I need a nice and easy, drama free, feel good book! Something like…Frenched. Help please! :D”
Kulti by Mariana Zapata <— Speaking of which… by THE same author, I’m bringing it back ’cause SO MANY LOVE IT and keep talking about the delicious slow burn. AND… some are not loving it because the “beginning” seems very long to get into, but so many are saying STICK WITH IT!
Lori: Kulti by Mariana Zapata. It’s sooo good, slow burn
Andrea: I feel the same way. It’s slow burn at its best! Under Locke and Lingus are really really great too!
Lori: Love love under Locke!! And I’m only halfway through but this is probably the best book I’ve read all year, going in my favorites for sure
Jaime: Kulti. I’m having a really hard time getting in to it. I started 5 days ago and am only 15% in. Trying to decide if i should stick with it or give up.
Heather: It took me days to get into Kulti! It gets better at about 45%.. Not great tho!
Andrea: Stick with it. This book is so amazing. I loved it. 5 huge stars for me.
Jaime: I stuck with it and it’s starting to pull me in more. I’m at 20% now and actually want to continue so that’s good.
And for AUDIOBOOK LOVERS, Caren has this little tidbit for y’all. *snort* 😛
Caren: To anyone that listens to audio books: Remember to keep ear buds plugged in! Because the powers that be are just waiting for the perfect moment to unleash your naughty romance book into a packed quiet room! And yes it will be the naughtiest part of the book! And no, no buttons will work to turn it off! — feeling shocked.
Maryse’s Book Blog: LOL!!!!! Pooooooooor Caren. *hug*
Speaking of audiobooks: for those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free ebooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! ——> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as AUDIOBOOKS AT A BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!
Get Maryse’s Book Blog updates delivered by email (you’ll get one daily email that will have each post from that day consolidated on it).
Ok people, if you haven’t read The Bet yet, get on it! It is so funny! Loved that book! And the 2nd book, The Wager is just as good!
And Jake Undone….OMG… I just love him and I’m reading Jake Understood right now and falling in love with him all over again!!!
Looks like lots of good ones today…. Consolation, Before I Go….. Oh and I got Prick cause I’ve been hearing good things about it and I love a sale!
Flowers in the Attic! Probably my first taboo read and I think I really want it as an ebook just because!!!!!!!
I concur! The Bet was awesome. Prick was sweet. I wanted angst, but for sweet, it was good.
I have to figure out if I read Jake Undone.
Kulti was FANTASTIC!!! Definitely one of my favorites! I read it directly after The Golden Dynasty (and fully expected to have a book hangover from that one) and I enjoyed it just as much. Both 5 start reads for me! Give it a try! I couldn’t put the book down even from the beginning. Not too slow a burn at all…… 🙂
I just finished reading Girl Underwater and Amy if you’re still looking for a book that will mess you up and keep you guessing about whether it is a HEA this one is it. It was so beautifully written and you felt the sense of despair/sadness that the heroine Avery felt. You would get glimpses of hope, only to have them snatched away. My only negatives were I wished some things in the present were not divulged so soon in the story and that I think the ending could have been more detailed. Now I need something lighthearted! 😉
YAY Cheryl!!!! I want to read that one bad!
I’m still enjoying The One That Got Away, and right now I’m not sure which way it’s gonna go so that is always a BIG plus…it’s not Arsen level, but then again I’m only at 60% so we’ll see. 😉
Consolation looks so tempting but it’s the first in a series so I’m leery of a CH…anyone know? And now I’m really intrigued with Predestined Hearts, especially after reading the blurb, but it doesn’t come out for three more days! *huffs* Yeah, yeah, yeah…I know, someone needs her passi. 😛
Ooooh Cheryl…sounds perfect!! 😀 So it’s worth the higher price?
Gah, having the hardest time just sitting down and reading, for some reason. So, this is my little list to read and cross off, lol.
Time Served
Fever Pitch
Poison Princess
Hooked and the Hermit
Financing the Duke
I just picked up Name of the Wind at the library, so long since I’ve read a straight up fantasy. Speaking of I saw that Game of Thrones will maybe start having spoilers as they out pace the books. I am NOT happy about this.
Laughing my ass off. Oh, auto correct. Romancing the Duke & The Hooker and the Hermit.
Apparently my Kindle does not like romance or hookers. I find this very shocking.
LOL Bev!!!! 😛 How was Poison Princess by the way? I remember it coming up on one of Maryse’s lists not long ago…
Oh wait, you said “to read and cross off.” Nevermind then!
Amy and Maryse how’s The One That Got Away? I could use something funny now.
Errr… *grimaces* I wouldn’t call TOTGA funny. Her friends were cracking me up for a little bit and I would say the book has a dry humor (I love dry humor), but it’s getting pretty serious and maybe even intense now. Have you read Fire Down Below? That one is supposed to be funny…
I am finally reading Perfection ( neighbor from hell) I am in Love with this book!!
Whoa Amy did I jump the gun on that one? LOL I posted a pre-order in the bargains sections? *snort*
But, but, but the blurb says “bright, funny debut.” *reading further* Okaay, so it does say full of humor and heartbreak. Think I’ll still read it, at least it’s not all intense like Girl Underwater. 🙂
I dnf Fire Down Below when it was a fanfiction- pretty stupid humor!!
I read Consolation a few days ago and it ends with a major CH. I literally screamed when I got to the end and my husband looked at me like I was totally nuts!
Fire Down Below was a DNF for me too and its very rare for me to not read a book to the end once I’ve started it. I just didn’t get it and didn’t find it funny at all. Maybe I should have given it more of a chance but it just wasn’t for me.
Aw, no biggie Maryse…it’s out in just a few days and can be preordered so I say leave it, especially with that big ol’ gush up there about it!
Okay Cheryl, so I *guess* you could say it’s a tad humorous (not laugh-out-loud funny to me, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything ;)), and I haven’t gotten to any heartbreak moments yet but so far it hasn’t been angsty, just tension filled between the H and h. *I’m* liking it so far…
Donna, isn’t there a historic book in that series? Sounds like it could be fun!
I went to my ancient section of my TBR and decided to read Beauty From Pain. I’ve heard stuff about it, how it was an omg book, but kept putting it off. I’m only at the beginning. Anyone else have encouraging words to read this thing?
Tessa I’ve had that one sitting around for awhile too.
Only 25% into Time Served and so far I’m liking it. The hero is kind of an * cough cough*
They were highschool sweet hearts living in a very poor situation. She got a scholarship and left in the middle of the night, never looking back. He spent the next 8 years in prison for robbery. Their paths have just crossed again.
Amy, I thought Girl Underwater was really good, whether it was worth the higher price is debatable.
Tessa, I loved the Beauty from Pain series…. Still need to read the 3rd book though….
Alright… I’m reading Kulti. Toooooo many 5-stars and from girls that I consider picky. 😉 So I’m giving this almost 500 page bad boy a go.
And this part made me think of us and our crew… (and especially Amy):
————
There was a loud snicker, followed by another, and then one more piercing gut-laugh.
“Give… me… a… minute,” she wheezed.
“You know, I called you because you’re the nicest person I know. I thought who isn’t going to give me sh!t? Jenny, Jenny won’t. Thanks a lot.”
————
Now I’m dying to know what she did that made her teammate laugh so hard at her…
Maryse, can’t wait to hear what you think. 500 pages of slow burn sounds, well, kind of wonderful to me.
LOL!! That is *so* us! 😀
I finished The One That Got Away, and it was really good…not a 5-star read for me but I would still recommend it. *sigh* I just looked at my list of books I’ve read this year and how I starred them, and out of 38 books I only noted three as 5-stars – Tight, Archer’s Voice and The Deal. I have several 4-star books noted and (fortunately) only one 2-star with the rest being 3-star. Gah, am I just getting jaded or somethin’? Or maybe I’m just trying too hard to find “the one” instead of simply enjoying the books for what they are. Or, then again, maybe I’m just in a mood today…
Wait…PEEPTINIS!!!! Goodbye negative attitude! https://943thepoint.com/marshmallow-peeptini-cocktail-of-the-week/
Kulti after Golden Dynasty and just as enjoyable? SOLD!!!!
Oh man, I am never going to get anywhere at this rate.
I am reading The Shadows and already enjoying it way more than The King, for all the BDB fans out there. And I am so giddy to be in that world with Rhage and V and Tohr and the gang. Even if it’s just small parts here and there, it makes me happy.
Jennifer, thank you sooooo much for the heads up on the Consolation CH! *squeezy hugs Jennifer* You saved me (and everyone here *snicker*) from some major p!ssiness. 😉
Good to know that about Girl Underwater, Cheryl…I added it to my watch list on ereaderiq so if/when it drops I’ll just grab it then!
MichelleS, I’m not as far into the BDB series as I would like to be…did it really go that far off track from the first few? It makes me kinda sad to think that I wouldn’t get to see my favorite guys regularly in the latter books, if that is what happens…
OMG I LOVE PEEPS!!!! And a peep martini??!! I WANT IT!
And Amy, I’m right there with you. I say we just go with the flow and with what we’re in the mood for. After all, reading is fun, as long as reading is FUN, ya know?
bev it does sound wonderful. I’m at 15% and am really enjoying it. The writing, the humor, the detail (not too much detail, but not too little either). I am “living” this one, so far. Not just “reading” it. I’m actually not finding it slow to get into. Could be because a few warned us that it would deb extra slow, so I was expecting much worse. I’m way into this!
And I LOVE when “it” doesn’t happen right away. In fact I love when they barely acknowledge each other and live their lives in each other’s vicinity. THAT is fun, because that’s how many relationship starts… little long-term crush that develops into more, unrequited and then … MAYBE… 😉
MichelleS… goooood to know. The King didn’t quite capture me the way I wanted it to so I’m glad you’re liking this one more.
Yay!!! So happy you are reading Kulti Maryse!!! I find myself still in a small book slump from it….so then I just pull it up and read my favorite parts!!! Anyone know of any other really good slow-burn books like it??
Oh, boy. With Maryse liking it & Niki loving it……I have a feeling I’ll be deviating from my list sooner rather than later.
Yep, I know what you mean…reading for fun instead of for reaching my own self-imposed goal sounds much better! 😀
Speaking of Peeps, have you tried the flavors that are out right now?? I went crazy at Walmart yesterday and bought blue raspberry, lemonade, cake, mystery flavor and bubble gum Peeps…I was so amped up on sugar but it was sooooo worth it ’cause they were insanely yummy. You HAVE to try and find some of those flavors before they are gone!
I’ve not been following my read harder challenge at all. It is more fun to go with mood……but I have to follow my tbr somewhat. If I didn’t I’d always be going for the new and never what I already have. Like shop your own closet I have to shop my own library. 🙂
I have not had one peep yet this year. Most remedy that. Not sure my store will have all those flavors but lemon sounds wonderful. What one’s did yo like, Amy?
Was going to put stew in the crock pot and if I don’t get on it it will be like 9 before it is done, lol.
My favorite is the normal yellow one with the bottom dipped in milk chocolate. YUMMMMMMM.
But I’ll eat any of ’em. You know. Because they’re so colorful and I can’t resist!!! 😛
I’m making this: https://www.fortheloveofcooking.net/2012/05/cilantro-lime-marinated-flank-steak.html
(but mine is a rib eye) and I’m hoping to turn it all into steak tacos. YUM!!!
And my marinade came out looking EXACTLY like that!! AND AND!! I’ll be using one of the commenter’s suggestions about adding plain greek yogurt to the remainder of the unused marinade and making it a creamy dip. GAH! It’s SOOOOOO GOOD!
You guys are making me hungry!!! Yum:)
Bev!!! Read Kulti!! One of my top favs ever… And I feel like I talk about it too much here…..I’ll stop now;)
Oh that looks so good, Maryse. Peppers always make me a little nervous. I made chocolate dipped peeps once, yum.
I’m just doing stew. Not the best cook, lol.
https://www.budgetbytes.com/2014/10/slow-cooker-rosemary-garlic-beef-stew-slow-cooker/
OH MAN… I am in such a reader rut right now! I hate when this happens. I hope some of your recommendations help!!!
Oh Michelle see I told u I will totally give u the manatee if needed I’m still keeping it! No one else has read it yet and I want to ask what part ur at but don’t know if u can without giving it away!! I finished fairytale come alive btw and loved it so now I’m on lucky stars I think my brain is going on a KA kick!
Amy I am currently drinking blue wkd do u guys get that in America?
Finished Beauty from Pain. Man, that took forever to get into. When I finally did, I was hooked. I have to admit though, I would never have put it in the top 100 romances. It was good, and I loved a lot of aspects, but top 100? Nope. I wanted more angst. The end part especially, I should have felt it, but I just didn’t. *shrugs*
I have Kulti on my Wishlist big time. I can’t wait to know what you think, Maryse.
Niki, if that’s too much we all need to teach you to gush. 😉
I would not want to know the count on how many times certain titles get dropped.
Laura, what is that?
Blue wkd is an alcohol drink in a bottle which is actually blue it’s vodka and well something blue lol it’s sweet and tastes like an icepole which I think u guys call Popsicles? Please see below picture (I’m pretty sure u can just make this drink if u know what the blue stuff is):
https://m.tesco.com/h5/groceries/r/www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=278653849
I’ve had Kulti in my sights since it first came out. But the reviews seem to be either great or lukewarm. I also can’t wait to see Maryse’s review. I’m really interested to find out if the game is portrayed correctly. I don’t want to read a book about soccer if it’s not written well.
oohh, that drink sounds good!
I was just looking at the RT Convention website. That looks soooo tempting! I don’t know if I can swing those days but…looks like a lot of fun. MichelleS are you still thinking about it?
Fabi – yes, I am definitely thinking about going to the convention. It’s in Dallas, how often does that happen??
“Icepole”…. (snicker)…. that’s really funny. I’m such a perv.
I’m going to wait for Maryse’s review on Kulti too.
Tonight I am going to try to put a big dent in The Shadows. I just read a scene where Rhage was so dang alpha hot, made the $12 price tag worth it for me just to get a taste of Rhage. Also, she has toned down both the “thou” talk and the thug talk – it’s still there, but not so overly done… so this is classic BDB. YAY!
I think I might want to stay at the hotel for those days. IDK. I have to check the end of semester dates to see if I’m even free.
Chocolate-covered Peeps…I’m running back to Walmart tomorrow for some of those ’cause, um, chocolate and Peeps together!?! Oh, and I’m swinging by Bev’s house with some crusty bread for the stew (*droooool* stew…) and then heading to Maryse’s house because SHE’S USING CILANTRO AND LIME!!!
Bev, my favorite of the ones I bought were the cake flavor and the mystery flavor. The mystery flavor was…I don’t even know how to describe it other than kinda sour patch kid-like but without the sour? Wow, that doesn’t even make sense. *snort*
Laura, I want some of that!! I’m gonna be on a mission now to try and find some here in the States. 😉
Niki, Niki, Niki… *slings arm over Niki’s shoulder* There is no such thing here as talking too much about books we love. 😀
Ha! MichelleS the perv wants to get her tongue stuck to an “icepole”!!! 😛
Amy, just make some with all your peep flavors. Walmart on Easter…eep!
Laura, icepole, lol.
I loved Kulti!!! I love when I start reading a book and it gives you the “feel” of where you just enjoy reading it and can’t wait to see where it goes. It is definitely a slow burn.
I downloaded all 3 books written by Marina Zapata and have started with ‘ Under Locke’. I am loving it sooooo much ,very well written book with great characters, getting a bit of KA feel, ‘Kulti’ is next in line to be read, Can’t wait for Maryse’s review it.
Happy Easter!
Started Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare. Felt like a historical and so far so charming.
“She’d arrived with an empty purse and a growling belly. She still had an empty purse and a growling belly. But now she had a castle. And there was a duke in it.”
That sounds cute Bev.
Happy Easter everyone.
I AM LOVING KULTI!!! Almost halfway through the book, and I’m crushing big time and yet still… NOTHING. :D!!!!
SLOW BURN is right… but it’s done SO right. Nothing is boring me here… ’cause the interactions are funny, infuriating, and so obviously NOT “obvious”… you know?
No cliches or rushing in this one and I. AM. IN!!!!!!
Oh, that sounds exactly like my kind of cat nip.:-)
More than likely that will be tomorrow or Tuesday’s read, if I can’t hold off on until your review.
In one I’m reading now liked this, ” Don’t tell me you’re one of those women with radical ideas.”
“No,” she returned. ” I’m one of those women with nothing. There are a great many of us.”‘
Happy Easter, ladies!! 😀
Happy Easter!
I’m reading Beauty from Surrender. It still suffers from the slows, but not as much as the first. Ironically, the slows for me are when things are good. I still love it though. The sad part and beginning were such as great read, so I thing I’m just in the mood for angst. 🙂
Oh, on funny books, Boy Toy! I can’t believe I forgot about that one. I had tears from laughing so hard. I hope she writes more about the other boys. It was awesome.
Happy Easter my friends!!! 😀
Oh Tessa! I’ve been wanting to read Boy Toy! Eeek so many books I want to read. Is it weird that book titles make me want to read (or not read) a book?
Happy Easter everyone!!! 🙂
I just finished Rejar. So good! It’s impossible for me to pipick a favorite genre since I like so many, but I have to say that I always love a sci-fi romance. This series and the Kindred Brides I could read exclusively. I’d love to go right to the 3rd book but I have a few on my Read Next list that simply cannot wait much longer. Which one, which one? After Dark, The Shadows, The Skull Throne, Vision in Silver? I wish I could spend the day reading but I have to head out to a family Easter dinner this afternoon. Is everyone busy with family today?
Happy Easter! Yep busy with family today…. Didn’t get much reading done this weekend. Kept trying to sneak in a couple pages here and there… Lol!
Happy Easter Ladies!!! Maryse, I’m so happy your loving Kulti!!! Taco and German Chocolate Cake or Pumpernickel;) I started Jacked last night and so far so good:)
Fabi, Yeah, I’m glad you liked Rejar! My college me is squeeing. 🙂 What is Skull Throne and After Dark? I have to go browse. I highly recommend Visions in Silver. Soooo good.
I feel like stopping this book and finding something more angsty. Hrm. The story is good, but there’s no tummy twisting. The circumstances feel like there should be, so I know it’s just me.

I really don’t know what I would do without u maryse reminding me of all the books I love I totally forgot that danika darks book was coming out I love this series!!! Also eeeeeeep on jr wards spoilers they are so good I’m so friggin excited! Michelle how are u getting on with the shadows? Crying yet huh huh?
After Dark is the conclusion to the Night Owl trilogy by M. Pierce. If you haven’t read it yet, the first book is really good and has quite a bit of tummy twisting.
The Skull Throne is book 4 in the Demon Cycle series by Peter V. Brett. It is tummy twisting but not in the way we normally think of on this blog. It’s a fantasy read of humans winnowed to the brink of extinction by night-stalking demons, and the survivors who fight back. It has a little romance but not at the level that we could call these romance books. This is one of my top five reads of the last five years or so. Wicked plot with unforgettable characters.
Oh and maryse in sold just starting kulti !!
0.0 Skull Throne sounds interesting. I’ll definitely look into that one. That sounds like my type. *grins*
Night Owl… I have it. I just still haven’t read it. Angsty, huh? I had a blurb of it in this one, but then, it got smoothed over too easily. I think that’s my problem. Smoothed over too soon angst.
Night Owl will definitely bring the angst for you, Tessa.
I still have not tried the third.
Has anyone read The Journey Home by Kelly Elliott? I’m thinking of starting it…
Finished Deep, the latest from the Stage Dive books, and really liked it! Mal from Play will always be my fav and there was plenty of Mal in Deep. 🙂 Think I’m tackling either Slow Burn (Driven series) or Forked next. From the above I’ve read Prick, Room for You and of course Flowers in the Attic! Happy Easter!
Amy, I haven’t read The Journey Home, but I read the blurb and one review and it sounds right up your angst alley. 😉 Let me know if you read it, sounds good.
Julie both Slow Burn and Forked were good, but the h in Slow Burn did annoy me for being wishy-washy.
Happy Easter! Finally got a chance to compile sales still valid for this week – sorry it’s so much all at once!

Must resist Kulti and not squirrel…
Okay I’m home from my Easter supper and back to Kulti!!! YAY ME!!!
AND YAY Laura!! 😀
…
…
That’s a LOT of books.
There’s the obvious goodies, like Pamela Ann, but the big blurb jolt is Corrupt. “I am going to marry a monster. ” 0.0
Okay…no. Cant do it. Nuh-uh. The Journey Home is not going to work for me. Like, at all.
“Could it really be possible to fall in love with someone so quickly?” Um, you took his icepole in your honeypot within 5 minutes of meeting him, and you’re now asking that 2 seconds postcoital even though you guys didn’t say much beyond the initial niceties. Wow.
I’m with ya, Tessa…Corrupt caught my attention big time!
Thanks Michelle! 😀
I have to say the costumes and sets on Downton Abby are so gorgeous. Finally started watching the last season. I just need Bates & Anna and Edyth to have some happiness.
Pfft maryse I want to slap him and say speak u big lump!!! Oh he’s annoying she is hilarious though lol
Tessa and Amy Corrupted totally grabbed my attention a while ago but I was waiting for a sale and free is even better! Was also excited to get Pretty Pink Ribbons on sale – sounds good! I’m still working on Inescapable and have no idea what the crap is going on at all but I’m intrigued.
Ha, ha Amy. I did read that things happened so quickly in that book, but a lot of angst followed. 😉
Corrupted series does sound good.
Omg Michelle! I downloaded 22 books from your list! I don’t know whether to hug you or smack you….. OK I’ll *hug* you!!! Thanks for all the savings! TBR list up to 675.…..whew!
Just started Deep and loving it so far!
Haha Jean well I downloaded more than that but I’ll take that as meaning it was a good list and I’m finding books that we all like! Your TBR is ONLY 675…let’s talk when you hit 4 digits 😉
I still want to squirrel for Kulti…willpower is weakening…
Cheryl…I didn’t last long enough for the angst, and I don’t know if I would even have felt the angst because the writing was just, I dunno…juvenile, I guess? At least to ME it felt that way. So add that to the whole “we’re falling in love after knowing each other for 10 minutes” and I was done. 😕
Michelle…it’s been a while since I read that series but from what I remember things will make sense once everything comes out. And apparently Pretty Pink Ribbons is a standalone but the second in a series, so I might check out the first book before reading PPR…it looks good, doesn’t it?? 😀
Yeah Amy it’s dragging a little since they haven’t revealed anything just hinted and I need a crumb or something to catch my attention again. Yes PPR is the second book in the series and the first is on sale too for .99. I grabbed both since they sound really good and angsty!
Amy what book are you talking about? I’m too lazy to scroll through all the comments… Haha!
I grabbed PPR and the first book too!
I’m picking up a lot of the freebies but I doubt I’ll be buying too much anytime soon. I started The Skull Throne and it’s almost 700 pages. It’s weird how this epic fantasy has wholly captured my attention but the Game of Thrones one was a dnf for me.
Jean, I tried to read The Journey Home by Kelly Elliott. I’m a little disappointed now too because I have other books by her, and if they have the same style of writing then I’m won’t be reading them either. And, she is one of the authors of Predestined Hearts which I have wanted to read since Maryse listed it the other day…I’m going to give it a chance but I’m not getting my hopes up.
I am, however, really looking forward to Where We Belong and PPR!! 😀
Blasphemy, Fabi. 😉
Tee hee Amy! You said ice pole. And honeypot. *snort*
Lmao!
Alright, I figured out my issue with the Beauty series. Some major angsty stuff happened in Beauty from Surrender that, in real life, would be issues for months at least, if not years. All of those issues were resolved emotionally in (longest) three days. Good characters, good basic plot outline, but just not realistic emotionally. :-\
Poor Amy. Didn’t you know? Sexual chemistry equals luvvv!
Also, OMG, I never thanked you for all these new books Michelle, so thank you!
Had to one click Kulti & the new Penny Reid. Probably one of those next.
40% into current read. I’m not sure it will be a top favorite but it does keep charming me.
“What was he coming to, when a women sat in his lap, he gave her a stern what-for…and then ten seconds later, oopsy-daisy and la-di-dah, he went and twirled a finger in her hair?”
Sorry Tessa, maybe that’s why I never read the 3rd book!!?!?
Amy, are you going to read PPR first or stick to the reading order? Let me know when you plan on starting and which one first!
Icepole is what Laura calls a popsicle, and MichelleS turned it into something dirty. *snicker* And honeypot, well… 😛
*smacks forehead* Silly me Tessa, how could I not have remembered that if slot A fits into slot B then it must be luvvvvv!!!
Jean, I’m going to start the first one today and then PPR right after…you in??
You guys are laughing but how many girls have fallen for that one? Sex = love. It’s only with a little more experience that most of us learn the difference. Right?
Oooooh ladies, check out THIS blurb…
“We were all friends…until we weren’t.
We depended on each other…until we couldn’t.
We were in love…until we were ripped apart.
We moved on…even when we didn’t want to let go.
This is our love story.”
It’s for Here’s to Falling by Christine Zolendz, and I *really* liked her Mad World series! It’s supposed to be out April 19 (need to double check though), and my angst sensor is doing a little happy dance right now. 😀
Not me, Fabi…it was LOVE with my hubby when we met senior year in high school. Yep, magical love. ‘Cause a 17-year-old has to love you if he wants to have sex, right?? *snort* <——- I really hope y'all are getting the sarcasm I'm serving up with that comment. 😉
Amy, what can I say, first you tease with that blurb for a book that is not out yet (that I want to read now dammit) and then you go and ridicule young love!! *snort, snicker* 😉
Struggling to find my next book, been just reading samples today, without any luck. Maybe I’ll tag along with Amy & Jean and read Where We Belong.
Bev, what are you reading??
Cheryl, Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare. It’s fitting my easy sweet & charming urge. Its cute, her father was a famous writer & he has rabid fans. Some just showed up to do cosplay.
You’re very welcome Tessa! I have a few more for today but I feel like I’ve overwhelmed ya all so I will wait to post until tomorrow. I know you like Stylo Fantome as well and I just saw she has a new book coming out soon, My Time in the Affair, whose blurb has got me wanting to read it now!
Oh jealous if some are starting WWB and PPR. Don’t forget about Yours Always Amy – I really think that one has the gut punch twist you were looking for!
I know, Cheryl…that blurb! I also can’t wait to get my hands on Under the Influence by L.B. Simmons next month…THAT blurb!!
Oh! Did any of you ever read My Life Next Door? Sooo sweet and sooo emotional and it was definitely a five-star read for me. It was so much more than a coming-of-age romance. Anyways, there’s going to be a companion novel in August, The Boy Most Likely To. Yay!! 😀
Lmao, I just realized I do not recognize any of the titles you guys are talking about.
Just checked and I have My Life Next Door and completely forgot about it…see Jean we were just commenting about TBR lengths and this is what happens when you reach the dreaded 4 digit mark!
Bev…if you ever venture from the Others’ side of the fence then we have a slew of titles for ya! 😉
My Time In the Affair is another one that has me all antsy, Michelle! And believe me, I haven’t forgotten about Yours Always…I’m actually saving it for this weekend ’cause I’ll have all kinds of uninterrupted reading time then!
OMG Michelle, My Life Next Door…READ IT!!!!!
Okay, speaking of having Books in the four digits…I know I have this one but I can’t remember the title, and I don’t feel like digging through my mass of ebooks to find it. She was pregnant and they got married (college age maybe?) but then she lost the baby. I *think* he moved back overseas and the divorce was never finalized, and he’s getting remarried so now, ya know, nostalgia and angst and jealousy and all that FUN stuff is about to make an appearance. Anyone know which one I’m talking about?
Amy, Nope to cozy over here. You should come visit again. Invite Maryse and stay awhile.
I don’t know that book, but have *lost* books before. Actually just found one like last week, Hard Rock Arrangement. Now I just need to actually read it.
I have no idea Amy but I want to read it when you figure it out! I pulled My Life Next Door out of my massive list so I don’t forget it again. I’m starting to really get into Inescapable though so I might have to continue with the series or I’m going with Kulti next. Maybe that one will be my weekend read too 🙂
The most irritating part is I *know* I have the book, I just can’t remember what the title is. 😕
Awww Amy I remember people talking about that book but don’t remember the title. 🙁
Then again, my brain is mush right now. I read for 10 hours straight today…and I’m not even halfway through the book. I looove these long novels! I get so lost in their world.
Finished and now deviated from my list a little. I started Strawberries for Dessert. Its been on my radar for a couple years, many positive reviews, and so finally decided to start it. Now looking at the clock thinking I do not want to put it down.
Book. Zombie.
Amy, that one sounds familiar, I need to look thru my list.
Maybe Maryse can post it as a reader question.
Amy, I don’t remember what thread we were talking about it, but I started Where We Belong this morning and Omg, the Prologue was a total punch to the gut!!
Jean, I went into WWB pretty blind so I was totally caught by surprise with that prologue. Even though I could understand where he was coming from, it still took a while for Tyson to get back in my good graces. 😉
