Ahhhhh it feels SO good to be back!! I got a ton of reading in, all old-school with paper backs, so I can’t complain, ’cause it was pretty fun (at least that part), but I was missing my book buds, big time!

I just read a brief excerpt of Colleen Hoover’s Without Merit and holy punch-me-in-the-chest moly…I feel like throwing a tantrum because I want it NOW. Don’t know if it will be to the level of It Ends With Us (I don’t think *anything* could ever compare to that one) but I have a feeling this one is going to give me all the feels I’ve come to love and expect from her books. Yet another reason to love October!!!
I stayed up til 3:30 am reading Kept and thought, no problem, I’ll skip shopping tomorrow and sleep in…but I’m out of cherries and lemons! Priorities…
And IDK if I mentioned, but I toss all the ingredients in a shaker and pour it over 1 large ice cube. It will be cold without, so you don’t need ice, but if you think it’s too strong, regular ice will water it down a bit. And don’t be fooled my the amount. It packs a punch…

2) Confession, I don’t do pumpkin flavored anything… I actually have a contact sensitivity to carving pumpkins, not sure if it’s a true allergy or not, but every time I touch the ‘goo’ inside when the kids carve their pumpkins, I break out in hives, so yeah… I steer clear of all things pumpkin just for my own safety, LOL!
3) I need to do another book buying restriction. Sigh. bev, where are you? LOL!

Ooh. A new Tracey Alvarez. I’ve enjoyed her series about hot New Zealand rugby players. Sweet, sexy and light romances, and sometimes I’m just in the mood and they hit the spot.
I’m intrigued by Warcross. It’s YA though, so I’m not sure. I might try the kindle sample first.
I haven’t read any Jodi Ellen Malpas. And Leslie loves them. Hmm. Better check those out too.
It’s still morning here and the thought of cocktails is a bit extreme right now, so I might pop in later and have one with Amy. But I can do three things.
1. My choir that I sing with is preparing for a concert of songs from the big old musicals. We’re having lots of fun practicing songs from South Pacific, Anything Goes, Oklahoma, The Desert Song (!), Fiddler On The Roof, The Pajama Game etc. etc. Rehearsal is just about the funnest thing I do every week.
2. I had a haircut yesterday and boldly told the hairdresser to ‘go short’, but when I looked in the mirror this morning, eeeek! Maybe it’s a *tad* too short???
3. My cat is recovering from a nasty cat bite (from that naughty cat next door grrrrr) and at the moment he has to wear a pretty mauve 4″ plastic collar to stop him trying to lick the wound. An insult to his cat manliness. He keeps shaking his head trying to fling it off. Poor Wolfgang (that’s his name).

I loved it! I struggled with a couple things, thus the 4 stars, but it was super hard to put down.

I’d never even seen super big ice cubes until we went to that Austin bar with the super hot bartender. I will say, they make all the difference. Keeps your drink cold and doesn’t water it down.

2. After all the rec’s, I got Begin Again from NetGalley.
3. Have been re-decorating my house since February. Started with foyer and kinda snowballed from there. Just finished painting kitchen cabinets and now putting finishing touches on kitchen. Feels like will never be finished.
Grey- I WANT a hot gardener that can rock a great drink and cook for me!!!
It was yummy Maryse, but splitting it, it still had way more veggies than meat, so I’d recommend cutting them still or adding more meat. Next time I will quarter and short change the veggies a bit.

Nightmare date: Guy passed out from drinking too much and I had to walk hone. We were young and dumb. Ended up marrying him. Lol!

Favorite holiday tradition.
~ I’d have to say, at Christmas time, we have a few. A Christmas Story is played on repeat for most of the day… Fra-gil-le… must be Italian. For all of us to watch on the back of our eyelids after the massive gluttony of food is consumed. Last year, although it was awesome to go to Disney World/Universal for Christmas/New Years, I was very sad that I wasn’t with my extended family for Christmas for this tradition.
Worst Nightmare Date?
~ I would have to say, my worst nightmare date was getting food that had been contaminated with shellfish and having my lips/throat/tongue start to swell. (Think the movie Hitch with Will Smith, but not quite to that extreme)
Invisible for a day, what would I do?
~ I would… gah, I would probably spy on my kids. No, I’d want to go like into Area 51 or someplace that you’re not supposed to be. That’d be awesome!
If I could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
~ Snack food… popcorn. No hesitation. Real food? Probably pizza, because there is so many different options. LOL!

I asked him what ‘big ones’ meant and he said, you know, big boys. First date. I’m 18 or so. I don’t want my hips referred to as ‘good child-bearing’ in any sense! Does that mean I’ve got a big bum? Fave holiday tradition – I put up my tree for Thanksgiving to kick start Christmas season. And…I buy these giant gingerbread men cookies from bakery that my son decorates with tons of candy & frosting. So in addition to all thanksgiving leftovers, I also have gingerbread with my coffee for a week after. Yum.
Date – Me and hubs been together since teenagers. But I remember being mad on our first date that he was dropping me off so early and barely even kissed me.
Invisible – That’s a tough one. I think I would like to see what my son is like at school. Be a fly on the wall for a day.
Sorry I missed all the fun. Drank my Moscow mule and then passed at on the sofa. Was a long week. :>
Fav holiday tradition: large, overly sweet infused Christmas breakfast or reading the Night Before Christmas; that my 16 and 19 year old still want us to read to them on Christmas Eve!!

Favorite Holiday Tradition: Everyone decorating the house while baking cookies with Christmas music playing in the background. Everyone is always either singing or making snarky comments on the music. lol
Worst date: I haven’t had many in the bad area. The only “bad” was actually a fun date, but the results weren’t so good. We went to the beach to play in the ocean. It was fun, but winter. Ended up with slight frost bite on my nipples. (See! That’s how I know you don’t go swimming in the Pacific without a wetsuit in the winter!)
Invisible: I’d probably want to go to places that are closed off to the public., just to see what’s there, you know? Either that, or somehow find a way to go really deep sea diving without air pressure issues and just explore with a huge light to show everything.
Thoughts on the soup if you make it Maryse: We halved it and it still filled my 7 qt dutch oven! I’d cook the veggies with the meat. It will give it more flavor and tenderize them (or you can do it like a mirepoix, but I’m too lazy for that). As they are they’re a little too crisp. I’ll also add a half pound of ground sausage with the beef next time. It needs more meat and that would give it an amazing flavor. And top with parm. Didn’t think of that last night!
