<— HAPPY FRIDAY TO US!!! *waggles eybrows* Oh how I love this cover  He’s sooooo *ahem* … *blink blink* ;)

In fact, this WHOLE LIST is pretty awesome’cause it’s got an abundance of both awesome-looking new releases AND awesome-sounding reader recommendations (tried and true, my friends). We are gonna have a great reading weekend!!

I jumped into a recent super-bargain that I can’t put down. Method 15/33 <— It’s a psych-thriller – you knew I couldn’t resist this one!! Remember when it was on the Tuesday list? She’s a pregnant teen that’s been kidnapped, but what her kidnappers don’t realize is that she’s a sociopath… manipulative and HIGHLY intelligent – genius, even. eek YAY ME!!! I LOVE books when the victim is not so… “victim-y”. I love when everyone’s creepy! And this one is so doing it for me. The writing is incredible, and even if she’s a teen, this does not have a YA feel. P.S. Consider it a part of this list again, ’cause I’m loving it, AND it’s still super-bargain priced.

Come onnnnn!! Have a little scary-exciting fun with me!!! :D

Kooloo: Just finished Method 15/33 – yes the one Maryse listed above. I know my review will take me awhile to write I am still processing but supremely satisfied. There were so many elements (the writing, the wisdom/stupidity, the science/horror, the emotion/less, the truth/lies) to this story I found perfect Hands down this is my favourite book of the year!!!!

And if it’s really not what you’re in the mood for, no worries, ’cause…

  • The Biker’s Virgin by Michelle A. Valentine <— MICHELLE A. VALENTINE’S LATEST IS LIVE!!! And it’s super-bargain priced. :) Tee hee!!!!! He’s assigned to kidnap a rival MC’s daughter but… “...I have to have her–wife her up and let the world know she belongs to me. I don’t even care if not following orders could cost me my life. She’s. Mine.” Ooooof!! Bossy, isn’t he?
  • Everest by S.L. Scott <— LIVE!!! S.L. SCOTT ALPHA BILLIONAIRE ALERT! I have a HUGE crush on that cover. Second chance romance with an alpha-billionaire? “Ethan Everest stole my breath the first time I saw him. He romanced me with skill, dazzled me with his charisma, and proceeded to steal my heart right after. I might have fallen for his easy-going smile the first time we met, but I fell for him the second time.
  • The Fixed Trilogy: Fixed on You, Found in You, Forever with You by Laurelin Paige <— LAURELIN PAIGE FIXED TRILOGY BUNDLE SUPER-BARGAIN!eek

Deborah: “The Fixed Trilogy”! Great reads, and hands down one the best reads out right now.

Cheryl: Hudson is a hot alpha guy who says right off the bat that he is incapable of love and combined with Alayna’s obsessive “love’ disorder, you just know a train wreck is coming.

  • The Last Hour (The Seventh Day Book 2) by Tara Brown <— LIVE!!! TARA BROWN DYSTOPIAN ALERT!! SILENCE IS SURVIVAL!!!…It’s a different world. Everything is quiet. The prey moves differently here. The others listen—always listening. Silence was survival. But what are we all surviving for?” P.S. Here’s book #1 and it’s super-bargain priced ➔ The Seventh Day: The Seventh Day Trilogy (“...today her face is calm, dead calm. All their faces are dead calm until one of us makes a noise. The noise wakes them and then it starts. Their heads jerk to the right three times rapidly as they stand in the most awkward way. That’s when we run...”
  • The Right Direction (Sweet Sins Series) by Kathy Coopmans <— LIVE!! ROCK STAR BOOK!! And it can be read as a standalone… “…I knew our someday might come, but not the one he and I had always dreamed about. His life headed in one direction, mine in the other. While Roman became the lead singer for the successful rock band Trained in Black, I became a ruthless attorney. He moved on and married someone else. As I was forced to observe him and his bride on the cover of every magazine out there, I deserved to suffer because of what I had done…”
  • The Sounds of Secrets by Whitney Barbetti <— LIVE!!! UNREQUITED LOVE ALERT!! And it’s super-bargain priced today! She’d been in love with him forever, and finally they were together, but… “…By the time the sun rose, I’d lost him again, my heart shattering on his parting words: “It was a mistake.” So I ran. Ran until I was thousands of miles away, in a country I didn’t know, surrounded by people who only made me miss him more.  I never expected him to follow me …”
  • Chat by Kimberly Adams <— FROM THE AUTHOR OF “First” (<—that so many of us LOVED!!! btw here’s my review), and Audrey found us this one by her, too!!
Audrey: Okay I really enjoyed this book. So I researched other books by this author and found a REALLY great book by her called “Chat”. I adored this book so much…just wanted to recommend!
  • The Roam Series by Kimberly Adams <— REMEMBER THIS ONE??!! Kimberly Adams… again!! :D Speaking of this author, Robyn reminds us of this popular series!
Robyn: I read First by Kimberly Adams and it was fantastic. Loved it. If you haven’t read her Roam series you are so missing out! I cannot say enough about Roam. The writing, the characters, the overall plot of the books, the love, the angst, add in some Time travel and you have an unforgettable series. Sigh…..I love these books.
Tessa: Reading Host by Faith Hunter. I really should be reading other things, but I wanted to continue the trilogy, and now I’m on the third and can’t set it down.
  • Billionaire Bad Boys Box Set by Max Monroe <— MAX MONROE SERIES BUNDLE SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!! Much loved series by so many of my fellow readers!

Jean: Max Monroe’s books can definitely get you out of that funk….they are funny and light!

D.G.: Max Monroe…you have been added to my list of fav authors!!!

Tracey: Yay! This was on my tbr list — happy dance!

  • Behind the Bars by Brittainy Cherry sounds like so much angsty love (and how I LOVE this author!!!) “…Even though we were different, the broken pieces of me recognizedthe sadness in her. Now she was back, and I wouldn’t make the mistake of letting her go again. When I first met Jasmine Greene, she came in as raindrops. When we met again, I became her darkest storm…”
  • When A Lioness Growls (A Lion’s Pride Book 7) by Eve Langlais <— LIVE!! SHIFTER BOOK!!
  • The Fixer by Jessica Gadziala <— LIVE!! SHE THINKS SHE’S IN DANGER… “...I knew. This was the day I was going to die. The cops, thus far, have proven useless and uninterested in my issues. When you couldn’t get help from legal channels, what other choice did you have but to look elsewhere? That was how I came across Quinton Baird.  A “fixer.”  Whatever the hell that was...”
  • Roomies by Christina Lauren <— CHRISTINA LAUREN’S LATEST IS LIVE ALERT!!! AND MANY in our crew absolutely LOVED it!! She’s been secretly crushing on a subway musician… and then one day, he saves her.

Marion: This is a 5 star read for sure. One of the best books I have read this year. This writing duo has knocked it out of the park once again.

Kandace: Roomies was perfect. I even woke my husband up last night because I was laughing so hard.

Jan: I’m reading and liking Roomies. Bit of a slow burn. Hot Irish musician H and a marriage of convenience. Set in NYC in the world of music/bands/musical theatre. Nice.

Nay: Is Roomies single or dual POV? I think I’m going to start asking that about every book.

Jan: Roomies is single pov (from her pov). It’s first person present tense which isn’t my fav way of presenting a story. I’m at 45% and still in.

Melinda: Ooh and I just finished Alex by Sawyer Bennett and I looooved it. Instant 5 stars.
  • On the Way to You by Kandi Steiner <— ROAD TRIP WITH A STRANGER ALERT!! It’s a recent release, and we have feedback, ’cause Cheryl LOVED it!

Cheryl: Finished reading On The Way To You. BTW, it was all in her POV. However, there were some “glimpses” into his thoughts. LOVED it, and maybe would have been a 5* star, but I felt the ending resolved too quickly and was not enough. Otherwise, great feels and the writing was so beautiful. “Emery was like a firework with the fuse burnt all the way down to the end, momentarily paused, temporarily safe — and I didn’t know if he would remain in tact or blow to bits if I took even one step closer.”

Geybie: it’s awesome! Loving it so far.

Nay: I LOVED A Love Letter to Whiskey! The kind of angst I’m crazy about! …It’s another where bad timing of a long-term relationship comes into play with super high angst.

Jean: I’m at 80% and ready to have my heart ripped out….Grey, you’ll need to share Manny and the Godiva….. think I might need something stronger then Moscato….. I’m thinking whiskey! Lol!

  • Spiral of Bliss: The Complete Boxed Set by Nina Lane <— NINA LANE SERIES BUNDLE SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!! They started out as student and teacher……history professor and his beloved wife face both personal challenges and painful battles, they never lose sight of the hope, humor, and devotion that belong only to them...”

Eduarda: i LOVE NINA LANE …..And i miss Dean and Liv soooo much!

MichelleM: I just finished Nina Lane’s Break The Sky and it was really good! Definitely not as angst-filled and emotional as her previous books about Dean and Liv, but Archer is freakin’ hot and Kelsey kicks ass.

Nikitab: Thanks for “turning me on” to Nina Lane’s Arouse (Spiral of Bliss) series.

  • Wingmen Babypalooza: A Wingmen Novella by Daisy Prescott <— DAISY PRESCOTT’S LATEST IS LIVE!!! CHRISTMAS READ!! How cute does this look? “Once upon a time there was a wingman named Tom who had the reputation of being catnip for women. Now the Tom Cat’s been domesticated and about to become a dad for the first time. If he can survive Hailey’s pregnancy, Baby 101 classes, and the holidays with his family...”
  • Deep (The Pagano Family Book 4) by Susan Fanetti <— MAFIA ROMANCE ALERT!!

Jan: Fanetti has a whole mafia series about the Pagano family. Some of the books are better than others, and in fact they’re kinda mafia-lite. My fav is Deep. Nick Pagano is the enforcer. Mid-forties, cold and hard as he has to be to do his job, and he thinks he will never really love a woman or have a family of his own. His relationship with Beverley is complicated and intense, and it’s no easy ride. But gradually Nick changes and grows as he develops a real relationship with a woman for the first time ever. The epilogue of this book is just beautiful, and shows how far Nick has come.I also really liked Carmen’s story, Rooted.

  • Erik’s Absolution: A Demented Sons MC Novel by Kristine Allen <— LIVE!! BIKER BOOK ALERT! JADED EX-MILITARY BIKER & STRUGGLING NURSING STUDENT…Kassandra Donahue had her life planned out, including a full scholarship for her four year nursing degree. After a series of events tore her life asunder, nursing school at the community college came out of her own pocket. So she worked a job she despised, focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel. Letting a man into her life was absolutely not on her list of priorities, until Erik, with his turquoise-blue eyes and infectious smile, hit her like a tornado. Her heart didn’t stand a chance. But when he allows his past demons to take control, he inadvertently crushes her fragile heart in his fist, and her friend and colleague, Hunter, steps in to reconstruct her heart from the rubble...”
  • Hard Drive (Bad Boys Online Book 2) by Erin McCarthy <— LIVE!!! OFFICE *ahem* “ROMANCE” ;) ALERT!!…Mack Stone can’t believe he’s just walked in on the delicious Kindra Hill having an online affair in her office. Being discovered in flagrante computer delicto by her boss doesn’t seem to bother Kindra. In fact, she claims to prefer the impersonal touch to the complication of a relationship...”
  • Dead Woman Walking: A Novel by Sharon Bolton <— IT’S FREAKING Tasha out!!!
Tasha: Reading Dead Woman Walking by Sharon Bolton and holy cow! It starts off with a bang! I’m not far, but it’s giving me the feeling of when we read The Most Dangerous Game in jr. high. That story terrified me.
  • The King series by T.M. Frazier <— GRITTY BIKER SERIES ALERT!!! Jennifer is reading this popular T.M. Frazier series and she says:
Jennifer: Okay so now hear this! I’m reading the King Series by TM Frazier whom has quickly turned into my new fave author. This is a MC book but not. Know what I mean? Anyways, have you read any of them? I’m obsessed and cannot put them down. Talk to me, yell me you’ve read them so we can chat without spoilers!
  • Tainted Hearts Trilogy by Lylah James <—THIS MAFIA ROMANCE IS BACK ON THE LIST ’cause McKenzie LOVED it!

McKenzie: Hey! I read the entire Tainted Hearts trilogy by Lylah James yesterday and it was phenomenal. Haven’t read a series that good in quite some time! Highly recommend this trilogy.

Tessa: I have Mafia and his Angel 3, the end of the trilogy. I will say that, based on the first two, everyone who likes mafia books should read it. It’s not typical, but it’s pretty awesome. TONS of angst.

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

Koolo: …hey it’s Nora and I so love the suspense-lit of her alter ego J.D. Robb (what is with that pen-name – Anyone??) Actually I’m reading/listening to one them right now called “Naked in Death” LOOOVE IT!

Happy Friday! Lots of goodies up there…I don’t think I can resist. ;)

Ugh! Snowstorm coming tomorrow. Pleh!!!

Maryse December 8, 2017 at 6:45 AM

Going to be cold in FL too!! Maybe even snow, in some parts!

Tasha J December 8, 2017 at 7:11 AM

Good morning! Looks like Kimberly Adams is one to check out. Ugh, I’m sore this am, I’ve been biting my checks at night I guess and the sore is in the way of my teeth. *sore face* hehe

Nay December 8, 2017 at 7:53 AM

Good morning! Happy Friday!!

Tasha J December 8, 2017 at 8:02 AM

Not my checks, my cheeks! Bc paper is gross. :P

Leslie M December 8, 2017 at 8:52 AM

I like biting cheeks of babies with round faces…not my own cheeks. Hee hee

I used to eat my son’s face when he was little. :( Can’t do that anymore…teenagers don’t like that.

Nay December 8, 2017 at 9:21 AM

I can relate, Tasha! I had a root canal the other day and now I’m clenching my teeth. When I wake up–ouch!

I didn’t realize that Brittainy Cherry’s new book came out yesterday. And that cover! I’m thinking of squirreling…

Amy December 8, 2017 at 9:44 AM

Happy Friday ladies!

No idea what I’m reading next but wow, that list is a good place to start. Or my bursting-at-the-seams library. ;)

Amy December 8, 2017 at 9:49 AM

Tasha, I heard recently if you have a mouth sore to cut a marshmallow in half and hold it against the sore for a few seconds. It’s supposed to ease the pain and help it heal. Hey, it’s worth a try!

Maryse December 8, 2017 at 9:52 AM

Plus… marshmallows!!!! :D Perfect soft, cushiony goodness!

Grey December 8, 2017 at 10:01 AM

Friday. Gah. *throws fits* lol!

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 10:06 AM

McKenzie won the award! *throws glitter bomb* Someone else read Mafia and his Angel and knows how awesome the series is! Seriously, it is such an emotional rollercoaster. It broke my heart so many times! Thank you, McKenzie, for reading it!!!

Leslie, my new nephew has those big, puffy cheeks. He’s so cute!

bev December 8, 2017 at 10:17 AM

Good morning. Hope everyone has a Wonderful day!

Why am I so in love with reading best of lists? They are starting to appear….love reading them, lol.
Books, movies, tv, music and etc.

Nay December 8, 2017 at 10:43 AM

bev–I love those lists too! I’m such a trivia buff, especially entertainment trivia. But I think they have a list for everything these days!

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 11:10 AM

You know, those best of lists have best of romance books available, and every time I see them, I just shake my head. It’s always what’s popular to say, not what people actually read. GR is the exception, but all the magazines, if you go through, are mostly, oh, these are expensive and we’ve heard about the author years ago, so it must still be the best. *blinks*

Jean December 8, 2017 at 12:26 PM

TGIF!!! There so much up there that I’m excited about!

I need to read the Roam series which I’ve had forever!

I LOVED My Love Letter to Whiskey!

Love the cover of Everest!

MUST READ Method 15/33 ASAP!!!

Right now I’m reading an ARC, Little Liar by Clare Boyd…. not that far into it, but I’m intrigued.

Love anything by Britney Cherry so I’m looking forward to that new one!

Been wanting a good dystopian book lately and I already have The Seventh Day!

We’re expecting 3-5 inches of snow here tomorrow…. perfect day to sit on the couch reading with my hot chocolate while waiting for all my Amazon packages to be delivered!

Robyn December 8, 2017 at 1:12 PM

YIPEE! *throws tons of confetti and rainbows in the air* You guys don’t know how excited I’am to see my most beloved series Roam on the list!! I love everything about these books and don’t forget there is a spinoff series called Fire Ballad. Read Roam and let me know if you fell in love with them also.

Tessa- I got the Mafia and His Angel when you suggested it last time. Haven’t started, but it’s in the que. I love a good Mafia story.

Maryse- check your Messenger because I wrote to you about my love of the book A Charm of Finches. Just an exquisite continuation of An Exhaltation of Larks by Suanne Lacquer. If you read her Fish Tales you know what I’m talking about.

Gotta go sandwich my quilt today before I dive into my next book!

Grey December 8, 2017 at 1:30 PM

I love reading *our* best of lists!!! Commencing spreadsheet sequence!!! God, I am *such* a nerd!

So, speaking of…What challenges are we doing next year? Because I’ve gotta be honest, I FLoved them!!!

Tasha J December 8, 2017 at 1:43 PM

Thanks for the suggestion Amy! Nay, I’m sorry, that stinks! My Mom has had those done and they’re very painful. It’s the worst when I eat something acidic (tomatoes on my sandwich), that burn!
What best of lists? Am I missing them somewhere? I started my best of 2017 list a couple days ago. How many were those supposed to be again? 10 or 20? ;)

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 2:02 PM

Oooh, good point Tasha. We all have a few books to go through! I think the yearly is more significant than the monthly. All those books that you read in Feb, what stood out? I know one I rated 4 stars when I read it, got bumped to a five and is one of the best of the year. I admit it! Making these types of list are fun!

Jean December 8, 2017 at 2:14 PM

I feel like I read a lot of really good books this year! I’m going to go through and start making my list of the best of the best!

Amy December 8, 2017 at 2:21 PM

Warprize is on sale for 1.99! :D

This song has been on a loop in my head for the last two days. Kudos to anyone who can listen to it and not get emotional. The words, the music, HER VOICE as she belts it all out…FEELS. All the feels.

Tasha J December 8, 2017 at 2:43 PM

Big Little Lies is officially coming back for season 2!! I wonder what they’ll do with the story line now…

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 3:24 PM

Lol, I went through and there were a few “this series” because I pretty much read all or almost all of the books out so far this year.

Still have Dec to go, though.

Can I say that I’m glad I don’t live in Southern CA right now? I already went through the smoke once. My family is in Orange County, and I’m grateful Riverside County isn’t part of the list. The other counties surrounding them are all on fire. Yuck.

Jean December 8, 2017 at 3:26 PM

Tessa, I was wondering if you were anywhere near those wildfires……glad you are safe!

Kooloo December 8, 2017 at 3:32 PM

Hey babes Happy Friday!
This is a reminder that Xmass Secret Santa lists are due THIS SUNDAY!
Please PM your info ASAP

Kooloo December 8, 2017 at 3:50 PM

I just PM’d the following naught little girls…

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 3:51 PM

Okay. I wrote a review pretty quickly on an arc. You all know I love dark books. However, the book I was reading wasn’t dark! It’s supposed to be erotic romantic fluff! I wanted erotic romantic fluff! Something to make me grin big. However, the “White knight” hero kept creeping me out. First stalking feelings, then, uh… creepy super creepy feelings. But I thought, well… I love the villains. I love dark. I’m just naturally suspicious of the hero type who’s being good. Then, he brings her to orgasm while she’s unconscious in bed, and no. They aren’t even dating. 0.0 He was trying to “relax her”.

Not with romantic. Nope. My dark books, sure. That’s fine because well, they are dark and I expect sexual harassment. Thus the term “dark”. Romantic fluff… no. I won’t pass that off as being a hero. Just… no!

/ends rant

bev December 8, 2017 at 3:55 PM

I love reading our list too.
Can’t wait to start reading them.
Oddly don’t feel like making one, lol. Maybe I am just lazy or I have this.

bev December 8, 2017 at 3:58 PM

Do you ALL want to do the theme month challenge again?
I sucked at it when my slump hit , but I am focusing on my tbr next year.

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 4:00 PM

Nope Jean. I was closer to the first set. We mostly just got the smoke from that one. This is down south too much. I’m Bay Area or silicon valley if it helps identify where I am.

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 4:01 PM

YES BEV! I absolutely loved it. :)

bev December 8, 2017 at 4:07 PM

It looks like the pick for me is up still with Kooloo doing the picking.

Faaaabbbbiiiii we miss you.

I don’t know if any of us has finished Leslie’s? I still have my whole list, lol.

bev December 8, 2017 at 4:16 PM

So…Tessa you want to be January?

Grey, Feb? And do the GR bit? Please?

Tasha J December 8, 2017 at 4:31 PM

I totally binged the rest of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel yesterday and I must say, it was marvelous! You can tell the Palledino’s created it for sure, but it was SO completely different from Gillmore Girls. I kept thinking how cool it would be to have lived back then (the 50s) and also, how completely sh*tty. Women were still really oppressed then. It’s funny and I love Sadie, her new friend. But there’s so much language! And even some nudity. So very different and swanky! Anyway, watch soon if you have prime! Another reason I’m so glad I got it. It’s already been approved for season 2 and I can’t wait!!
Tonight, I’m going for Hidden Figures. :)

Kooloo December 8, 2017 at 4:39 PM

Thanks Tasha I have Prime but never know what to watch!!!

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 4:43 PM

Sure! Jan can be music inspired books. :)

Kooloo December 8, 2017 at 4:43 PM

Bev babe Fabi will still be there I promise!
Made a deal with the elusive hacker that she still must participate in the challenge – if she wants my to take enter the Matrix to match us!!!

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 4:45 PM

OH! If you have Google books, right now you can get a coupon for five dollars off any item five dollars or more. That may not seem wow until you realize you can get that 7.99 book for 2.99. I did it earlier this month for archangel’s viper. :D

Kooloo December 8, 2017 at 4:53 PM

Maryse I finished MINDHUNTER on Netflix… so what should I watch now?

Amy December 8, 2017 at 5:16 PM

So the pick-for-me is still up for joining for this month? If so, I’m in.

Hey, you know what else TGIF stands for? Thank God I’m Female. Except for hormonal and emotional days like today when I rewatch the episode of GoT where Dany has to lock up the dragons and they are screaming for her and I end up crying like she is. They’re CGI for pete’s sake and yet I want to comfort them.

Amy December 8, 2017 at 5:18 PM

How about we do a round of Three Things?

1. I miss Fabi.
2. I miss the Michelles (but at least we still have MichelleS…most of the time ;) ).
3. I miss drunken Friday nights with Fabi and the Michelles.

Maryse December 8, 2017 at 6:06 PM

It’s Friday night. :)

Maryse December 8, 2017 at 6:06 PM

P.S. I’m hormonal today too. TMI?

Amy December 8, 2017 at 6:23 PM

Get drunk? Heck yeah. Here’s to a drunken, hormonal Friday night!!

*snort* No such thing as TMI around me. ;)

Tasha J December 8, 2017 at 6:28 PM

I’m always hormonal. Boo hormones!
1. I’m soon to be kid free tonight. It feels awesome and extremely lonely.
2. New stove and mattress are here, not without screw ups, of coarse
3. Really, is December over yet?? Bah humbug :P

Kooloo December 8, 2017 at 6:46 PM

Still at work… booooo to extended Xmas hours for shopping!!! It’s a pharmacy!!!
Well not really as our cosmetics section rivals Sephora and we electronics and food and housewares.

Hey I could probably do all my Xmas Shopping right here!!!!! And get paid doing it lol

Kooloo December 8, 2017 at 6:47 PM

To bad drinking on the job is out…

Maryse December 8, 2017 at 6:53 PM

LOL Kooloo!!!!!!!

Not a bad job at all. ;)

Maryse December 8, 2017 at 6:56 PM

Tasha is REALLLLLLLLY feeling the hormones tonight. Can we blame her?

bev December 8, 2017 at 7:15 PM

We blame her husband.

Amy December 8, 2017 at 7:32 PM

*snort* :P

Amy December 8, 2017 at 7:33 PM

Hey, we should watch Elf tonight while we drink!

bev had mentioned a few of us watching it on a Friday night but it never happened (probably my fault *cringe*).

Drunken, hormonal, Elf-watching Friday night?? Well, some of us will be drunken…

bev December 8, 2017 at 7:56 PM

Theme reading challenge 2018

January — Music inspired.

Anyone else?

Tasha J December 8, 2017 at 7:56 PM

ALWAYS blame the husband.
It’s just thinking of the gifts chasing online deals or going from store to store, finding a good time to wrap, good hiding spots for gifts, Christmas parties and plays, seeing Santa or some fantastical Christmas do-da, at least 3 get togethers with family, decorating, un-decorating, normal everyday hectic routines, crazy amount of doctor appts. this month, etc. I do all these myself and it makes my head spin. Stretched too far so I actually minimized my load this year and it’s still too much.

bev December 8, 2017 at 8:00 PM

That sounds so fun Amy, but I have plans unless they get cancelled.
Not that I will be super late but I’d probably fall asleep, lol.
I’m old now.

MichelleS December 8, 2017 at 8:09 PM

Three things…

1.) I might just drop the S since there is only one Michelle now
2.) I am headed to the liquor store because I need white elephant gifts, and I can’t be creative right now
3.) I will be buying booz for myself since Amy said she misses Friday nights

MichelleS December 8, 2017 at 8:10 PM

Okay, FOUR things

4.) I miss Fabi too – and she lives 20 minutes from me so if I knew her address I’d go over there and drag her back kicking and screaming

MichelleS December 8, 2017 at 8:11 PM

You know what sucks? I am pretty sure this month was MY month on GR for the 2017 reading challenges. LOL. That slump got me sooooo behind. Kind of like my office closet – I just can’t even face it.

Cheryl December 8, 2017 at 8:14 PM

1. Was off today.
2. Went to the gym. Walked in and a dog was lying there in his little doggie bed. Turned out he is a service dog for a diabetic at the gym. So cute!!!
3. Eating pizza now. No alcohol. Yet.

bev December 8, 2017 at 8:25 PM

1. I miss Fabi and being able to say the MichelleS.
2. I am already thinking of resolutions….i have 3 of them.
4. I WILL read a book this month.

Tasha J December 8, 2017 at 8:36 PM

*when you use the very last of your fave cereal for a nighttime snack and pour regular milk on it instead of the almond milk you ALWAYS use.* I’m done tonight. Done. Time to watch a movie and crash..

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 8:36 PM

Tasha! One day at a time. Don’t think of all you need to do, just make goals for each day. Thinking of everything will just make you nutty this time of year!

1. I went ahead and bought Warprize even though I’m not in a fantasy mood because it’s been on my TBR forever. It’s one of those I believe I’ll love, but my mood has been telling me nope! Yet, PNR is okay. *shrugs*
2. I also miss Michelle, and it’s been nice seeing MichelleS start appearing again.
3. I’m weak. It’s cold. Yes, 56 degrees is cold. My fingers are cold. Conclusion – I get cold way too easily.

Kooloo December 8, 2017 at 8:52 PM

Bev I am so down with your Jan and March challenges!
How about Feb (V-Day tribute) – second chance LURV

bev December 8, 2017 at 9:19 PM

January = music
February =Second Chance Love

Anyone else want to play?

Leslie M December 8, 2017 at 9:42 PM

I am up for theme challenge for 2018. My brain is mush right now though so not sure I can think of good theme suggestion.

Nay December 8, 2017 at 9:44 PM

I’m in!

Robin’s book will be perfect for music theme for everyone for January!

Let me think of a theme. April is my birthday, so I’ll take that if it’s ok. BRB

Nay December 8, 2017 at 9:45 PM

I was just going to say that I was SURE Leslie would join! lol

Nay December 8, 2017 at 9:48 PM

Did we do book with a number in the title this year?

Leslie M December 8, 2017 at 10:02 PM

Yes Nay we did have a numbers month. But I don’t think its an issue if we do repeats. What do you think Bev?

Nay December 8, 2017 at 10:04 PM

Tessa–SO glad you’re safe! All of that is so scary!

Tasha–I also have Prime and have watched all that looked good up to August, but I haven’t checked it out lately. I’m also going to look into The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I love shows set in the 30′s, 40′s, 50′s. I’ve watched a few stinkers on Prime and Netflix though. LOVE that Big Little Lies is coming back. I think this season will focus more on Reese Witherspoon’s character and her past ‘activities’.

MichelleS December 8, 2017 at 10:04 PM

The line at the liquor store was 20+ people long. Seriously? I’m too old for this. Friday night, holidays, I get it. Open more registers!!!

I bought Apple Pie & Cinnamon moonshine!!! LOL. I needed white elephant gift so I decided to go for Redneck theme. It comes in a mason jar.

Now what? Read? Wrap? Drink? What are we doing?

Amy December 8, 2017 at 10:05 PM

Alright I’m here and halfway to being drunk on peppermint something martinis so WHERE ARE MY DRUNK BUDDIES!!

MichelleS December 8, 2017 at 10:07 PM

Robyn – I’m a fellow “Roamer”… loved that series. Still think about it.

Leslie M December 8, 2017 at 10:09 PM

Oooh, great idea!!! R’s book for January theme! Woot woot

MichelleS December 8, 2017 at 10:12 PM

**** snickering **** I just checked this thread & there were 69 comments….I’m such a juvenile

Amy December 8, 2017 at 10:13 PM

MichelleS…we DRINK!! I;m already ahead of you so catch up.

Don’t drop the S. You will always be MichelleS to me just like Robin will always be R and bev will always be bev with a little b.

Amy December 8, 2017 at 10:14 PM

My mind just went into overdrive with things I could say.

MichelleS December 8, 2017 at 10:15 PM

Leslie – what idea? I can’t find it – scrolling scrolling scrolling – gah! Time to take a shot….

MichelleS December 8, 2017 at 10:16 PM

Bev better never change that orangutan… I won’t be able to find her! Remember the fake Bev on GR? She’s still my friend.

MichelleS December 8, 2017 at 10:25 PM

Amy – I just took three shots, so I’m all caught up! Now… speaking on 69.., you guys notice the sex scene trends in our books lately? They don’t feel the same to me as they did years ago. Is it me? They are barely sexy. Not enough talking – too much, you know…., you know! As if we want to do that all the time. Seriously.

Leslie M December 8, 2017 at 10:25 PM

Sorry Michelle, Nay said (several comments back) that R’s book will be perfect for the “music” themed month.

Nay December 8, 2017 at 10:35 PM

Michelle! I’m laughing my AS$ off! Look what is sitting on my counter right now! (hoping this photo link works)

This is my husband’s current alcohol du jour!

Nay December 8, 2017 at 10:40 PM

I agree, Michelle. And I’m so surprised that I love books like Brittainy Cherry’s that have very little sex.

I think I’ll try some apple pie moonshine! This is my first drink in ages!!! Years!!!

Amy December 8, 2017 at 10:44 PM

Huh. I guess it is kinda weird if there is no talking going on at all during sex.

Watch your elbow.

Dammit you scratched me with your toenail.

Wait my hand is caught in the sheet.

Turn the tv off. It’s distracting you.

Move over.

Not that far.

Okay. Wait scoot down.

Was that my phone?

Answer it and you’ll have blue balls.

Nay December 8, 2017 at 10:55 PM

Don’t forget:

Shhh, I think I hear the kids.

Take your socks off!

Tessa December 8, 2017 at 11:08 PM

I seriously want a sex scene with those phrases. It’d be awesome and true at the same time.

It’s far better than
Then out.

*blinks* I love Tijan but that actually made me stop and re-read it just to make sure I read it correctly.

Amy December 8, 2017 at 11:28 PM

And in the spirit of trying to be sexy…

You like that baby? Okay fine I’ll stop then. Dang I was just trying something new.

Amy December 8, 2017 at 11:30 PM

In. Out.

How about when you have to ask if he had onions on his burger earlier and could he breathe the other way.

Amy December 8, 2017 at 11:33 PM

Gah I hate it when in books they go straight from eating to open mouth tongue kissing.

All I can think is what the author just described them eating.

Amy December 8, 2017 at 11:36 PM

Take your socks off.

Grey December 8, 2017 at 11:49 PM

Yasssss! You guys still want to do Challenges??? *throws a bucket of confetti* i love them!! I am so excited you guys like my idea! You like me… You really like me!!! *twirls*

Yes, I will still do the GR sections, silly girls! I would like to pick May… Is that all right and the right one?? As “Next in series” being as though we heard that little tidbit about Sarah J. Maas and the new Court book… Just a thought…

Nay December 8, 2017 at 11:54 PM

That sounds great, Grey! I’m still thinking about April…

I just found a cool one. A book with someone’s name in the title. How about that??

bev December 9, 2017 at 12:12 AM

Any theme you want.
April=Name in title
May=Next in series

I am trying to remember why I chose a lower case b. I think it was just lazy typing. And now it is what it is.

MichelleS December 9, 2017 at 1:08 AM

My often said phrase is, “have you clipped your toenails lately?” … never read that in a book!

MichelleS December 9, 2017 at 1:10 AM

What I want to know is how yoga gumby always is able to “get her there” by finding her sweet spot … when I am picturing it – it’s pretty impossible. You know?

Geybie December 9, 2017 at 7:52 AM

Oh you make me super curious about Method 15/33. Sounds delicious! On the Way To You is great, Maryse. I hope you’ll give it a try one day. ❤️

bev December 9, 2017 at 8:52 AM

Don’t you love it when you wake up at the same time on Saturday as you have to on Monday?

Leslie M December 9, 2017 at 9:39 AM

I just love sitting back and reading all the comments. You guys kill me!!! Thanks for always making me laugh.

Bev, I hate that! Nothing worse than looking forward to sleeping in but waking up early.

Tasha J December 9, 2017 at 9:49 AM

Thanks for the advice Tessa, that should be my mantra everyday. Hence, reading and movie watching for distraction from everyday life. It gives me a breather. I’m just a stressy person, it drives my family nuts. lol It’s SNOWING!! Big, fluffy flakes have left a nice fine layer everywhere.
I, too, get up at the same time everyday. Even when my kids aren’t here. I’ve gotten used to it, but today I had a pounding headache and deep chest cough. Drinking tea, diffusing on guard, and about to wrap some gifts.

MichelleS December 9, 2017 at 10:19 AM

So I took three shots to spend the evening reminiscing with Amy and she…, told hubby to take his socks off or she put on her socks! Amy!!!

MichelleS December 9, 2017 at 10:24 AM

Nay – I bought Moon Pie Moonshine… but I saw that one! My husband swears it’s really good. Pouring it seems like it’s going to be difficult.

Hair appointment, Christmas party on the agenda today. No reading time. Boo.

bev December 9, 2017 at 11:52 AM

MichelleS do a big change with your hair.

Amy December 9, 2017 at 12:56 PM

I passed out MichelleS!! Around 9:30, I think? No one got their socks off at my house last night unfortunately. *sigh*

And YES! I wonder the same thing about he gumby H. Heads up, blunt talk ahead. Hey, we’re all grown women reading grownup books. ;) Anyways, HOW does he smoothly reach down, while pressing his chest to her, while still *ahem* actively sheathing his sword, and manage to push her button?? Ummm…yeah. No.

Amy December 9, 2017 at 12:58 PM

bev, I actually love waking up on my day off at the same time as a work day. Something about knowing I don’t have to get out of bed and can lay there reading or playing on my iPad is so satisfying.

Maryse December 9, 2017 at 1:07 PM

Ugh. No bev, I do not. 6:50 am and here I am since, wide awake (and yet TIRED!!!). But I’m reading in bed snuggled with my puppies so things are good. :)

bev December 9, 2017 at 2:05 PM

I started Pages of the Mind last week and want to het back to it. Also, want to finish a Kiss in Lavender because GR says I already did.
Otherwise I look at my the and it is so overwhelming. How’d I end up with so very many?

MichelleS December 9, 2017 at 2:52 PM

Amy – that’s exactly what I was trying to say. No way is that hand sneaking down there. Is he crushing her? How is this possible? All these guys have really long, flexible limbs, I swear.

Tessa December 9, 2017 at 3:44 PM

Just super long, skinny arms. Geesh. :P He’s buff everywhere but one arm, right?

I woke up at just after 5am. I refuse to be cognizant for the rest of the day.

kooloo December 9, 2017 at 4:34 PM

Cheryl December 9, 2017 at 7:37 PM

Just catching up on comments. That’s quite the comments for early morning. Funny how they always do describe his big hands and long fingers. Still have to be a contortionist to do what they describe. Maybe he can hit that sweet spot, but damn gotta be a hella uncomfortable getting it all in position.

Cheryl December 9, 2017 at 7:38 PM

I do like realizing I don’t have to go to work on those early wake up days and can read and just enjoy that quiet time.

Kooloo December 9, 2017 at 9:35 PM

Thanks ladies!!! Just missing 3 of you now… I’ve PM you on GR

Leslie M December 9, 2017 at 10:12 PM

Bev, how about “Maryse” as one our themes?

It could be a book that Maryse reviewed OR book we heard about on the blog?

Jen C December 10, 2017 at 2:11 AM

The anthology, The Vault: A Sinfully Sexy Collection, is only 99c! I’m totally buying it just for Aleatha Romig lol.

Nay December 10, 2017 at 7:45 AM

Michelle–you don’t pour; you drink it right out of the mason jar like my hubs does! lol

Leslie M December 10, 2017 at 8:04 AM

Poo poo to snow. News just reported we got 7 inches here. :(

bev December 10, 2017 at 8:42 AM

That’s half a year decided.

Leslie M December 10, 2017 at 9:08 AM

Yay Bev, you liked my idea.

bev December 10, 2017 at 10:56 AM

Reading and it feels so good.

Amy December 10, 2017 at 11:25 AM

Thanks bev…now I have that song stuck in my head. :?

Leslie! I’m soooooo jealous!! I love the snow, even with all the shoveling and painful stuff that goes with it. BUT! I do sympathize with being stuck in elements you don’t like. ;)

I’m still cracking up over the image Tessa gave us of a super buff H with one long skinny arm that can slither in and hit the h’s sweet spot. *snort*

Amy December 10, 2017 at 11:28 AM

A couple of deals for us!

Kulti is on sale for 1.99, and Fallen Crest Forever is 1.49!! :D

Kooloo December 10, 2017 at 11:50 AM

Just kidding I just woke up Xmas Party last night found my phone in the tub this am – you know the regular…

Amy December 10, 2017 at 11:54 AM

KOOLOO! Damn woman, I sent you a PM on GR and put a message on the board.

You’re so busy running around all crazy that you’re missing my messages, LOL!!

Kooloo December 10, 2017 at 11:56 AM

Found the elusive one
all is well with world again
now must go shopping

bev December 10, 2017 at 12:23 PM

I hope R is taking notes for her next hero.

He must have onion breath, long toe nails, and one longer than normal skinny arm.

Tessa December 10, 2017 at 12:34 PM

Fallen Crest Forever is on my list of favorites for 2017. That series ended perfectly for me. I swooned and laughed a lot.

Tessa December 10, 2017 at 12:34 PM

And wears socks! Don’t forget the socks Bev!

MichelleS December 10, 2017 at 1:46 PM

What about doing a “reread of a favorite” as a monthly challenge. So many books I’d like to reread, and then I just go after the shiny new ones.

MichelleS December 10, 2017 at 1:49 PM

Bev – I think I’d actually like a sex scene better if it had a little real life humor in it. Was it 50 shades that turned the tide? Now every guy is a brute.

Amy December 10, 2017 at 2:43 PM

Yeah, something like getting an elbow to the eye and then being told you’re fine, let’s just keep going. *snort*

bev December 10, 2017 at 4:15 PM

Oh my God, Amy.

bev December 10, 2017 at 4:16 PM

July- Re-read a favorite.

I used to re-read all the time.

Amy December 10, 2017 at 4:53 PM

Hey, at least it didn’t leave a mark. THAT would have been awkward to explain. :P

Amy December 10, 2017 at 4:56 PM

Okay, how about for August a drink-themed title. Love Letter for Whiskey, Wallbanger, Mai Tai’d Up, etc.

Kooloo December 10, 2017 at 5:13 PM

Amy & Grey need your list please…

bev December 10, 2017 at 5:21 PM

Sounds good.

August= Drinks

Headache. Blech. And need to go to the store. Double blech. Maybe I need to buy hot chocolate and marshmallows. That’s a known headache cure, right?

Nay December 10, 2017 at 5:50 PM

That’s a great idea, Amy!

Does anyone remember the name of the book I told Maryse about that was about a couple whose plane crashed? Sorry, that’s all I remember about it!

bev December 10, 2017 at 5:56 PM

Poor Kooloo. We are basically like a herd of cats.

Amy December 10, 2017 at 6:03 PM

Amy December 10, 2017 at 6:04 PM

Kooloo, I’ll be home shortly and will post my list on GR.

Kooloo December 10, 2017 at 6:43 PM

You girls are drivin’ me to drink lol

I am

bev December 10, 2017 at 7:27 PM

I finished a book today. Yay!

A # please. Let say 1-50.

Nay December 10, 2017 at 7:33 PM

bev December 10, 2017 at 7:34 PM

Nay December 10, 2017 at 7:34 PM

I found the book–Uncharted.

bev December 10, 2017 at 7:38 PM

Bountiful by Sarina Bowen.
