Jean: Happy Friday all! Such a long week! I’m dreading and looking forward to Maryse’s list today!
Ela: *waves to Maryse* Bring on the list….
Maryse: I’m making it!!! I think this one has an extra-special feel to it.
‘Kay… it’s ready!! Oh yesssssss and I mean that with HUGE excitement. This list is the kind that gives me a tummy-ache.
SATURDAY UPDATE: A couple of EXTRA fantastic sounding finds I just couldn’t resist but to add on!!
Jeannie: I just finished The Piano Man Project by Kat French and loved it!!! It made me laugh, cry and I had no idea how it would end – the best kind of book! And it’s only 99 cents! It has a more contemporary romance feel than NA, which was a nice change. Best line in the book – “He was borderline rude ninety per cent of the time, but the other ten percent was worth waiting for.”
Maryse: YAY!!!!!! Jeannie that sounds PERFECT!!!!!
Gabby: Have you read The Memory Thief?! It’s a must read!!
Maryse: Ohhhh thank you Gabby!! I’m going to look it up right now!
Kim: I just read The Memory Thief by Emily Colin a few weeks back and literally bawled my eyes out the whole time! My hubby has been warned.
Half if ’em are new releases (awesome sounding ones that could prove to be absolute gems, and from favorite authors). Super bargain finds and adamant reader recommendations (tried and true makes our decision making so much easier).
And still… I can’t decide which one next, plus I have a few from last week’s that make me antsy. Shooooooooot. I have to make a new “new TBR” list, don’t I? And then how do I choose out of those? That’s okay. Considering the amount of books I’ve one clicked over the years, a girl can’t have too many TBR lists. Helps me keep track, and backtrack…
PLUS! Good news from one of the new releases on this list. It actually answered one of the questions on the “Where did they go? Currently seeking some of our missing favorite authors…” page. I LOVE when author & book mysteries are solved! 😛
Oh and my own -blurb-squirreling mini list? Bottom Feeder and it’s just released sequel, Lowlife (I remember how much everyone loved Bottom Feeder a few years ago, but I was waiting for the sequel and NOW it’s finally out, so I just may jump in – I posted a few of the reader recommendations for it below, you’ll see!!!), and Force (if done right… might be just the bad-guy alpha male I’m looking for…) and Villere House (author says no insta-love, we have to work it… plus it seems to be just perfect for this Halloween month!) and To The Steadfast (this one sounds like the epitome of unrequited love… NOW THAT BLURB HAS ME!), Fade to Red (I 5-star loved book #1, and Cheryl said this one was even better!!), and BEWARE is making ELA scream at us, she can’t contain herself. LOL!!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS!! 😀
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything! )
EBOOK BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).

Romantic suspense, realistic military, abuse. Angst, just really crazy stuff with really strong characters.“

- Villere House (Blood of My Blood Book 1) by CD Hussey & Leslie Fear <— PERFECT FOR THIS SPOOKY MONTH ALERT! It’s on SUPER-SALE, and it’s a GHOST STORY & ROMANCE ALERT!! The author says: “One is set in New Orleans and is about Xavier and his romance with Lottie. Book two is about Xavier’s brother, Julien and his romance with Nichole. Both are rich in mystery and both will make you work for the intimacy. No insta-love or insta-sex for my readers.” YES!!! Sounds right up my alley! 😀

- To The Steadfast By Briana Gaitan <— WHOA! There was a time I would have died to get him to notice me, now I’d do anything to forget him. I’m not the one who can tame him, and he’s not the guy who will change for me. This isn’t a story about falling in love, this is a story about falling out of love. Unrequited love, and finding the strength to stand up for myself…“
- Defy (Defy Series Book 1) by Sara B. Larson <— TWISTS & TURNS ALERT!! Tessa recommends this one!! “OMG, I don’t even want to do anything but read Defy! It’s insane! - BEWARE by Shanora Williams <— OMG CRAZY PAGE TURNER ALERT!! Ela and Jean are LOSING it for this one… LOL!!! Ela: “OMG BEWARE KIND OF REMINDS ME OF RAW, ALTHOUGH RAW WAS WAY MORE MESSED UP (F WORD NEEDED)!!!!!!!!!!! - The Ground Rules by Roya Carmen <— COUPLE-SWAP & BROKEN RULES ALERT! And I’m bringing this one back, since so many of us LOVED it, and book #2 will be out in just a few weeks. 😀 Cristina says: “YES! YES! YES! Time to re-read book 1! I know this story isn’t everyone’s “cup of tea.” Would I dare try something like swapping? No. My heart is too tender for an arrangement like that. But… BUT! I have always been curious about the mechanics of those types of arrangements. Like how in the world could it not go wrong? This book deliciously feeds into that curiosity and delivers in spades!!“
- Fade to Red by Willow Aster <— HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ALERT!!! Recently released AND AND!!! And Cheryl HIGHLY recommends it!! Since I LOVED book #1, this makes me even more excited! “Maryse, Fade To Red was soooo good. It had suspense(a creepy villain) a slow-burn hate to love romance, angst and a hot rockstar. The very end was wtf?!!! Not a cliffhanger, but there has to be more. It was also enjoyable to get more of Ian and Sparrow (and their baby) from True Love Story. I thought it was even better than TLS!! “
- True Love Story by Willow Aster <— And here is the first one (but I think both can be read as a standalone). THIS ONE WAS SO GOOD and heartache-y and cheaty! (my review)
- SHADES: An Evil Dead MC Story (The Outlaw Series Book 3) by Nicole James <— BIKER BOOK ALERT! Kathy found us this one!! “Shades by Nicole James is on sale. This is the 3rd book in the series. The first was Outlaw. I have been waiting for this one to go on sale. Definitely my next read!”

Okay I’ll add it Kathy, thank you!! 😀
Okay, The Hidden. That looks insanely good. I haven’t read Heather Graham in years, but that one would be the perfect reason to return.
Tessa I have never read her yet, but I know she’s HUGE… and this one sounds creepy…
I’m staying away from the creepy! I love my sleep too much plus I CAN’T HANDLE CREEPY, SCARY, OR HORROR!
Ohhhh you don’t know what you’re missing my dear Ela. There is nothing better than a little fright-jolt (in books… and movies… ONLY IN BOOKS AND MOVIES!!!)
*glances around at the invisible air around her*
Don’t get any ideas!!! 😛
I wish I could but nope, can’t do, too chicken for that stuff! Those are some of my hard limits 🙁
Ok Tessa, you can be the guinea pig for The Hidden.
I couldn’t resist Bottom Feeder and Lowlife. Also got Set In Stone because I loved Crazy Good too!
The rain is coming down sideways here and the wind is whipping. Perfect night to curl up on the couch and read!
Thanks for all your hard work Maryse as usual. You make my job of reading so much easier. Lol!
My pleasure Jean, but it’s YOU GUYS that make my reading job easier.
<3
😀
Two more that are up for preorder I thought I’d mention.
Wicked Reckless by Ginger Scott. I’m excited since I just read Wild Reckless and this is Andrew’s story.
And The Rocker Who Betrays Me by Terri Anne Browning…..just love this series.
Both books coming out October 20!
First I see a couple new additions, The Hidden and Villere House, for my month of spooky reads (YAY!) and then you have to go and get me all worked up for To The Steadfast (DANGIT!).
And here I was so determined to stick with reading *nothing* but spooky reads this month. Anyone have any self-discipline I could borrow for the next few weeks?
I love Fall!!! All the scents, flavors and, of course, the beautiful nail polish and makeup shades. Ooh! Candy corn martinis tonight! 😀
Jean…I’m actually jealous of your weather right now. 😉
Yeah, people think I’m crazy when I pray for rainy, cloudy days!
Jean I’ll eventually be reading The Hidden. At that price, in may take a week. Wicked Restless sounds good, though anything that made that boy sad makes me grumpy. The Rocker book. *sighs* I’m behind on my rocker books.
Hi Maryse, I was wondering have you or anyone here read The Diary of Bink Cummings? Its a trilogy and all books have been released. The reviews are awesome and so many say its the best Motorcycle series, unputdownable. I believe this is a true story based on her life being raised in a motorcycle club. Just wondering if you have read it and what you thought.
Yes, how rude of me! Thank you Maryse for all that you do for our TBR’s…. Now if I could only read faster that would be awesome!
I love rainy days!!!! As long as the wind isn’t gonna ruin my house, a goo thunderstorm is delightful!
And just pouring rain or lightly pouring… I sleep like a baby through it.
Shirley, I haven’t read it yet but I fully intend to. It sounds AWESOME!
I’m jealous of your weather Jean. LOL We may all be nuts around here – hoping for rainy days so we can indulge our reading addictions. :-/
I just want rain. lol It was sprinkling for two days, yesterday and the day before, but now it’s supposed to hit 80 today. *sighs* I want rain!
Wicked as they Come is good so far. I think I know what’s going on, but I never judge a book on predictable. Story and character, yep. So far, both are really good.
Shirley, I just read the entire Bink Cummings series IN A DAY this week & now I’m in a rut….I’ve started & stopped half a dozen books since I read it & NOT ONE can hold my attention. I absolutely loved it. Can’t WAIT for Big Dick’s POV book!!
*waves frantically* Hi everyone! Man, what a crazy busy week… barely any time to read…but what I did squeeze in, was Sweet Gum Tree…
Now… I’m definitely on the prowl for something dark… Think the M. Mabie trilogy.
Also, have to plug the The Queen by Tiffany Reisz which is being released on 10/27/15!
How is everyone, and what’s the buddy read for this weekend? Anyone feeling dark with me?
Lauren, thanks for the feedback!! Wow, you have sold me. Im going to start this tonight and read it over the weekend!!
Crazy windy and rainy here- good reading and sleeping weather. Trying to get over my MBY book fog and reading The Allure of Dean Harper. It’s a funny, fluff book and I keep comparing it to the realness and suck-fateness of MBY. *sigh Will*
Amy, candy corn martinis?! I LOVE candy corn- what’s the recipe?
Pre-ordered Ms. Manwhore- loved the first 2 books! The Ghost Tree and The Hidden sound like great October, spooky reads.
Still haven’t decided if I’m going to start The Ground Rules or wait until the trilogy is complete.
@Shirley & Lauren – I started The Diary of Bink Cummings last night and, only about 30% in but LOVING it so far. So so good. Glad to read you two loved it – can’t wait to get back to it!
And gotta add my 2 cents – read BEWARE by Shanora Williams a while ago and it was so good! Messed up crazy good and really addictive!
Where are you Jean? You just described my weather haha. Best weather for weekend reading!
Amy, you know what book scared me? This one.
https://www.amazon.com/The-Monster-Florence-Douglas-Preston/dp/1455573825
I’m in Pennsylvania Jen C. Where are you?
Oh and I just finished Beware and loved it! So happy the 2nd book is out already! Jumping right into it!
Happy Friday Everybody! I am sooooo hoping to get some quality reading time in this weekend.
Bink Cummings – I read the first two and need to get to book three. Love it. At first, I was thinking this is the best MC Club book ever – seriously – then there were a few writing kinds of things that got in the way of “best ever” – but it sure comes close. I love it so far. I know they say it is based on her real life, but maybe just loosely? And he’s 50 and names Big Dick and she’s 30 – and he helped raise her from when she was little? Controversial for sure. But I ate it up.
The Queen by Tiffany Riesz? WOWZA! The best Erotica fiction hands down. I cannot wait. Nora is an amazing character: as strong and fierce as she is vulnerable and wicked smart. Crazy good series.
And scary stuff? Not a fan. Experiment in Terror was as close as I get to scary spooky.
What’s everyone reading?
Aw man, you guys are lucky! All I have right now are dark clouds but no storm. *pouts* Oh well…I’m making steak pinwheels with garlic mushrooms followed by “dessert” (candy corn martinis ;)), and then I’m snuggling up with my blankie and iPad and reading Thicker Than Blood…maybe. Probably. Or some other zombie book.
Cheryl…1 oz vanilla vodka, 1 oz white creme de cacao, 1 oz butterscotch schnapps, 1 oz grand marnier and 3 oz pineapple juice (or orange juice). So. Freaking. Good. 😀 Oh! And these are *perfect* to pass out to the neighbors on Halloween night… https://www.abeautifulmess.com/2014/10/candy-corn-jello-shots.html
Bev…that looks CRAZY! 😀
EIT…you know which one freaked me out the most? Into the Hollow. Stupid book had me so freaked out that I wouldn’t go downstairs in the dark, and I left a nightlight on in every room at night for about a week after reading it!
OH OH YOU GUYS….
I’m bein’ bad. BAD!!!!!!!
Guess what I just got a hold of… *grins*
Claimed: An Outlaws Novel (The Outlaws Series Book 1) by Elle Kennedy
Hrmm…. I wonder what I’m gonna read tonight?
*ducks*
Amy! I’m in the mood for Dystopian, too… so. Yeah.
OMG MichelleS!!!!!!
Don’t make me squirrel!!!
*GASP*
I’m not happy with you right now, Maryse. That is SO not fair.
*crosses arms and turns around*
*turns head back*
*blows raspberries*
*turns back around*
😛
*snort*!!!!
But that means I can definitely buddy read our most story!!!
What’s making you squirrelly? Bink Cummings? It really was good. I think it was that forbidden aspect – he helped raise her, and he’s so much older, and he’s BIG and the prez of the club and so it was gritty, and I liked the secondary characters too. I didn’t love how a couple of things just resloved themselves like POOF, but overall it was a good choice for when that mood strikes you.
Not sure where my mood is. Keep going with Throne of Glass series? Try something new, a stand alone? I even thought about trying to finish Life of Anna, but I don’t think I can go there tonight. I need something like Kulti.
Still reading Wicked When He Comes. Definitely NOT scary. 😛 But, it does have a blood sucking, eats flesh bunny! Lots of them!
Oh, and Jean. Just an FYI, Beware did NOT have a book two until everyone demanded it due to that ending. You remember me talking about a book that I loved, but I was in denial about the ending, that I wanted a book two? THAT BOOK!
Ah man Tessa, I would have been really upset if there wasn’t a 2nd book.
Maryse, so jealous of you right now! Lucky duck!
Oooh, I couldn’t be much further away Jean – southern hemisphere girl here, New Zealand lol. NZ must be channelling Pennsylvania right now!
So jealous right now Maryse! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Claimed! 😛
Amy, WOW that’s a lot of ingredients for a drink, but YUM and the shots, holy, moly candy corn goodness!!
Maryse, you are so, so bad, but hey GREAT blog= perks of getting books before us regular folk!! Enjoy!
Jean I forgot we’re near each other…I’m in south jersey…how’d you like that Pope visit last weekend??
It was crazy last weekend Cheryl. I’m actually headed to South Jersey tomorrow morning to check on our boat and mom’s house down there. Lots of flooding.
Yeah, you better believe you’re gonna be done in time for buddy reading The House on Tuesday. *mumbling* Danglin’ that book in front of us like a carrot that we can’t have. *pbllttt* 😉 Seriously though, you’ll have to let us know what you think of it…
*sips candy corn martini* Yep Cheryl, these are strong but soooo worth it ’cause they taste so yummy!
New Zealand!! I want to go there for the Milford Trek someday.
Oh no faiiirrrrr Maryse! Tell us how it is though and that will tide me over until the 6th 🙂 Fingers crossed that it is a true dystopian romance like it sounds.
Getting back to Menagerie tonight so hopefully I will update tomorrow on how it is. Way too early to comment yet but definitely has my attention.
OK…you are all too funny…I love the raspberries Amy…I will certainly have to second that one Maryse!!! I am totally jealous you get to read Elle Kennedy!!! I can’t wait to hear about that book! I picked up several of these new books including Bottom Feeder and Lowlife, Set in Stone, Villere House ( This one sounds spooky and creepy!), and Fade to Red. All great sales! Thanks for the amazing list Maryse as always! Can’t wait for tomorrows top ten favorites list! Yay Saturday!
*taps mic* is this thing on? Amy! I said I read SGT…and not a word???
AWwww Maryse, a new Elle Kennedy *throws peanuts…while blowing raspberries* Im taking back Manny and hiding in your blankie fort!
Maybe I should read Beware?
I’m sorry this cover made me just burst out laughing…what the…did they photoshop a 10 year old boys head on that guys body! I’m freaked out and can’t stop giggling here!
https://www.amazon.com/Seizing-Control-Black-Shamrocks-Book-ebook/dp/B014R2HSQU
Jean, I sending good thoughts that your mom’s house is alright.
Maryse!! I hope it lives up to our hopes.
I wish more thought would be put into covers. Lol.
Though really like the Vincent cover.
Definitely one of the more interesting covers. That person loses their Photoshop license!
Grey, three words. Candy Corn Martini. That’s why she didn’t mention it. 😛
Michelle – I am oddly disturbed by that cover. I hot the author’s page on amazon – and i may be her husband’s head? I don’t know… it’s just not right. and I would NEVER want to picture him as my male lead.
Maryse!!! —> watch Fabi turn green with envy. Lucky girl, Elle Kennedy rocks.
What the sh!t?? That’s a horrible cover LOL!!!!!!
Hey guys…does anyone remember the book with the guy from the cover of Absorbed but his shirt is off and he has sad nipples??
Molly Mcadams covers went from good to WTH which sucks because I like her books.
Michelle, that is disturbing. LOL!!
Bwahahahah…sad nipples?!!!!
How did I miss that Grey?? YAY!!!!! More SGT love!!!!!
*giggle* Tessa’s probably right…candy corn martinis are TROUBLE. The best kind. Making another batch in a minute and WOO-HOO I’m gonna be feeling no pain!!
Yes Cheryl, his nipples look sad like they’re frowning or something…I habve to find that cover…
Come on Cheryl…you gotta help me find it!!
How do sad nipples look? (I can’t believe I just typed that sentence).
I’m obviously not reading. And either are you guys. In a slump. need a kick start.
Sad nipples look…pouty. LIke puppy dog eyes.
Used to see that stupid book all the time and now I can’t find it!
Hahaha, Amy I have no idea where to start on finding that cover… do I google sad nipple cover model?! 😉
What was the story about?
Hahaha Cheryl, you’ll win crazy Google search of the year. Maybe you should try Siri…I can’t imagine what Siri would come up with.
Not reading, watching Spy. So far making me laugh!
Amy! If you can come someday, do! Fiordland/Milford is really amazing – photos look great but it really doesn’t do it any justice! Simply breathtaking in person!
I’m really intrigued about this sad nipple thing… I just … can’t picture it lol! The guy from Absorbed as in the same guy from Easy (Dusan Novakovic?)
quick question…Are Beware and Ground Rules two book series or trilogies ? Wondering if I should wait until they’re complete. Its kind of bugging me when Ive half forgotten the story by the time the next book comes out.
Beware is a two book series. Originally it was a standalone, but she wrote the second due to MAJOR requests.
I can’t find the sad nipples. Did the cover change?
Thanks Tessa. I’ll start with Beware. 😉
Sad nipples?! yeah that might put me off a book too haha!
I started Beware last night… Lisa is you wanna buddy read with me!
I read Ground Rules this summer, that weekend that I had 3 very highly reviewed books in one weekend haha! I don’t remember thinking it was too cliffy…
It is definitely fall here now… while it’s pretty… I am so not looking forward to the season that comes next. Winter and I are *not* friends…
Amy, candy corn martinis… that sounds awesome! Hope you’re feeling well this morning.
Tessa…good call on Amy’s distraction haha!
I had a dream about Mason and Logan last night… have we heard anything about the upcoming release from the Fallen Crest series… I know it hasn’t been that long, but I miss them *pouty face*
Yes Grey. Lets buddy read Beware. Starting tonight.
Loving Beware 2 The Comeback….maybe even more than Beware! Great series!!!!!!
I’m in South Jersey where there is tons of flooding. Even saw a house floating in the bay. Crazy!
And very scary. That has to be surreal. Lets all hope it ends soon. It looks like the Bahamas is getting battered.
Ran around the Schuylkill River(Pennsylvania) this morning while my daughter had crew practice. Water level high and moving faster than usual from all the rain we’ve had. Luckily, didn’t see any houses floating by.
Maybe I’ll read Beware with Lisa and Grey. Don’t know what else to read, so that will help me decide while waiting for Ms. Manwhore on the 5th.
Join us Cheryl! Just dl-ed the book last night, read the prologue before going to sleep. I am just about to tuck into it now!
Cheryl, where are you in south jersey?
BOOK UPDATE: Claimed = Okay so far… I like! She’s looking for a group to hide out with… dystopian because everything is war torn and new “sort of” government, enforcers which are the police of sorts and groups just struggling to live again – social bad guys (villains) and tough guys (heroes that don’t consider themselves heroes)… everyone is out for themselves mostly but moral standards vary depending on “groups”
Feel wise? A good mix of “Flesh” feel by Kylie Scott (although no zombies) crossed with Kit Rocha’s erotic dystopian series. Yep this book is steamy and and has a big spotlight on free love, sharing etc. LOL!!
Wow Maryse, that was not what I expected.
Oh, that IS what I expected after reading the blurb for it. Come on Monday midnight! 😉
Grey, starting Beware now.
Free love, sharing?!! Wow, Maryse…
Jean… for some reason I wasn’t either… I was thinking more “scary-ish” and romance…
But ummmm… they are ALWAYS getting it on. LOL!!! 😛
Grey… oh yes. There is sharing. 😉
Hmm. I just saw that mentioned this morn somewhere else. I am disappointed. Not what I was looking forward to. Though I will still read it. I want a dystopian that is intricately plotted, well paced, and with great character arcs. And Romance, I do want that to be a component too.
Maybe what Im looking for is a UF type series, like Briggs, Armstrong, Daniels ect. But with more than one main storyline. Like Mercy if we also followed Bran, and Samuel and……so on. And saw more page time to different aspects like Bran and Mercy relationship. Like I’ve mentioned WD type and all that characters growth and crisscrossing relationships but with a big dollop of romance woven through. Slow burn romance, and maybe with a larger character pool unexpected ones.
Though that type probably found on tv more often where the actors and chemistry inform the writers and arcs.
Agreed bev… honestly? So far… since I usually skim sex scene unless there was a slow burn and I was JUST DYING for the “get together”, … for me, this is a lot of skimming.
That said, if you’re looking for erotica, this one is HOT.
I kind of wish I was reading the ghost story right now…
Grey…you are going to think I am cuckoo bananas! I went to one-click Beware….oh, I already have it…in my ‘Books I Read & Loved’ folder!!! Read both a while back evidently. It took a while to sort through the grey matter and recall the story but it came back to me! Great books. Twisty turning with a bit of ‘S**t I didn’t see that coming’ thrown in. Enjoy.
On to something new for me.
Maryse, you can not pre start your ghost buddy read, lol. Hmm. Wonder what you could read before that doesn’t have sex scenes to skim (though Amy did skim the mail parts) and a slow burn. 😉
Large favorite list up & mentions man buns.
It made me remember that conversation and Amy and I talking at cross purposes. Made me laugh all over again.
I don’t have it… so there is no fear in me starting it… but OMG I wish I did. LOL!!!!
I’ll be buddy reading with y’all! 😛
Would it be…. WiR? 😛
I’m at 20% in Beware and having trouble getting into this book.
May squirrel to The Memory Thief…
Lol.
😛
Although, what am I saying after crying my eyes out from MBY, do I really want to read The Memory Thief?!!!!
After a cry jag, I’d think you’d want funny and sassy! 😀 A lot of skimming erotica dystopian? Hrm, maybe. The swapping thing, though. Not sure there.
Teehee…
*skim skim skim*
*sucking and licking*
skim skim skim
*throb*
skim skim skim
*Oh GOD yes!!*
skim skim skim…
*tongue flicked*
skim skim… *skimmmmmmmm*
Whoa… we haven’t even had penetration yet….
Oh yes… this will be certainly satisfactory to our erotica crowd.
That said… I DO like the side story. Her twin brother is one of the bad guys… 😉 Very well known… just that.. THEY don’t know she’s his sister.
Ok, it may be sad for a Saturday, but I’m tired. So I think its going to be one of those early nights pretty soon. As in pjs and a book.
So there is a blog I occasionally read. They used to make up a fall playlist. I always thought that was a fun idea. Do you change music with the seasons, like we sometimes do with books? They always ended the list with Harvest Moon, which fits. But last week I put a couple James Taylor songs in rotation. And on a walk The Avette Brother’s I and Love and You came on and it felt very fall, lol.
Lmao!!!
Tongue flicking and imagining lizard men.
LOL bev!!! No lizards in this dystopian world. 😉
Just active… tongues. 😛
*gasp*
I can’t believe I said that!!!
P.S. bev… I’m umm…. already listening to Christmas music.
Nooooo!!
Its October!
I didn’t even KNOW there was FALL Christmas music!
Er,,,, I mean… “fall” music.
Okay so make us a play list?
Ha! That would bore everyone. Lol. But this is a great October song.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DVrux6mSsFi4&ved=0CB4QtwIwAWoVChMI9J7O-9ynyAIVUi2ICh3uSAMK&usg=AFQjCNEcnmyXZ9x3wCH_ZWiE5COa_2iV_Q
But I think it kind of changes my listening. Like taste. Crave strawberries in spring, apples in fall and peppermint in winter. Feeling like The Bronze Horseman would be a good cold day read.
Just curious if you all noticed a difference. Like been wanting to pull out my Ryan Adams Heartbreaker CD.
Maybe Im odd….but not as odd as silver bells in October.:-P
I think my reading may turn into popcorn & marathon a few eps.
*shakes head*
Bad reader, but its Ollie and Felicity.
But then… “Pike” kind of has a “Z” feel…
Z-lite.
And I like that!
And there’s a sweet baby wolf that these bad-asses are saving… *sigh* I like that.
Oh I’m noticing a difference!! Today was the first cool day in my area of Florida. 60-something degrees this morning, and didn’t go much higher than 70-something.
It’s been gray out, and I pulled weeds out of my flower beds. And I want to smell fall halloween candles burning in my house SO bad, so that will be my next purchase. Plus, playing on TV is the cooking channel and it’s a marathon of Halloween desserts contests.
Yep. It is fall and I AM LOVING IT!!!!
Great fall song bev…
It reminds me of when I was little…
Here is my favorite fall song:
“Sweater Weather”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCdwKhTtNNw
Its spring here and unseasonably warm…..almost 90 degrees. Just enjoyed a beach walk while the hubby surfs. Makes me eager for summer to start.
Maryse, I like that -the lyrics are very ……visual(?) Lol. As in I can “see” them.
Lisa, that is always hard for me to wrap my head around.
Lisa… me too!! It’s so funny how everything is backwards from us. Or are WE backwards?
December… summer? Whaaaaaaaa?
bev OMG YES. Very visual… Such a song… a poem.
Tessa, I did read The Allure of Dean Harper. Fun, fluff read. 😉
I read House Villere after seeing it in here. I was totally hoping for some EIT-esque feelz because of the season. And…nope. I enjoyed it, but it isn’t scary in the creepy, turn on all the lights way I was hoping. Didn’t really get there at all for me. I followed up with the second book and liked it a bit better. Still wasn’t what I was hoping, though, so just wanted to share!
Oooh! That makes me more curious about those. I love fluff fun. I love anything that makes em want to spin and grin at the same time.
See, I don’t envy warm weather. It’s October and today, I actually had to wear pants! Okay, then realized I was sweating and 74 wasn’t really cold enough for pants, but I tried and that counts! Most of the days have been 80s and 90s. *crosses arms and pouts*
If I think of Fall music, I think of movies and musicals like Nightmare Before Christmas, Phantom of the Opera, or I think of darker songs, like Coheed and Cambria, Avenged Sevenfold, and My Chemical Romance. Just dark themed music.
Bev, Ollie and Felicity…I should have spent my one free day watching episodes. 🙁
Lisa, I’m jealous. I’m a Spring/Summer girl. I lived in South America for several years. Yes, Christmas is a summertime event. My perfect life would be half the year north of the equator and the other half south of the equator. 🙂
I’m with you Fabi, I’m definitely a spring/summer girl too and Lisa, surfing in October sounds great!!
When I was little, my parents used to travel to Buenos Aires for a month or two during the holidays. It was awesome for me because I got to skip a little of our winters. Even though we lived in Florida at the time and winters weren’t too bad. Still, anything under 80 is sweater weather. 🙂
First, have to say it, you know? If you like wolf pups I know this book….
Fabi, Sara. *sigh* was hoping for something different for her. I do have to say that even though I like Sara and not Laurel, I always thought Laurel had a right to be angry at her & Ollie and what they did again when back home.
Me too!!!
I hope it is so quiet because everyone is having a lovely Sunday. 😀
Busy, busy weekend. It was so nice yesterday, went walking everywhere. Today, reading Waiting on the Sidelines by Ginger Scott, and I feel like reaching into the book and slapping both of them.
I think I may have that book but would have to check.
Okay… ummmmm..
who in the heck are Sara and Laurel and Ollie>?!!
I posted the review for that dystopian-sex-fest “Claimed” !!!
https://www.maryse.net/books/book-review-claimed-an-outlaws-novel-by-elle-kennedy.html
Oktoberfest yesterday and recovery today (my apologies to my liver), then I come here to catch up on posts and… 😯 <—— That was me until I realized Maryse was talking about what she was READING and not what she was DOING. Holy moly that was a *snort* and WTF moment, LOL!!!!!
It's funny but when I go a day or two without checking in here because of real life stuff, I constantly have a feeling that I'm forgetting something or that something is missing. 😉
LOL Amy!!!!
I’m a-gettin’ bold, ain’t I? Tee hee!!!!!!
But come on!!! That’s a good portion of the whole first half of the book, right there. I had to give y’all the “feel”!!!
True Amy, happens to me too. You ladies have somehow become a part of my life that I miss if I stay away even a short while.
Maryse, those characters are from the show Arrow.
…and since I finished a book, then started and finished another one, I may take a break and go watch some episodes if there are any new ones on Netflix.
Awwwww… *squeezy hugs Fabi*
I’m making my hotel reservations this evening for the RT convention in Vegas, and I really, really, REALLY hope that some (I actually wish ALL) of you are going to make it…how much fun will that be!?!?! I seriously chat with y’all more often than I do my family. 😉
And Fabi…you need to watch season 1 of The Affair because season 2 starts tonight and I need someone to follow it with me. Pretty please? *flutters eyelashes* It really does play out like our angsty and emotional reads!
My I’ll watch it!!!!!!!! :D!!!!!!
The Affair huh? I don’t know anything about it but I’ll if Netflix has it streaming. As long as it’s not scary…
Crap…I’m pretty sure it’s not available on Netflix, but you can get the whole season for less than $20 on Amazon and some other places. Do you get Showtime? If not, you can subscribe to and stream it here https://www.sho.com/sho/order/5/ott?s_cid=pse-affair-1691#order-header for 10.99 a month but it’s free for the first 30 days.
Gah, that show! *sigh* I just want someone to share in the awesomeness of it with me…
Awww. Maybe someone else here watches it. I’m not much of a TV person. The only things I watch regularly are the singing and dancing shows. Even Netflix is my daughter’s.
I do like the movie theatre though. Is anyone going to see The Martian? The book was fantastic. I meant to go this weekend but giy lazy. I’m definitely going to go see it sometime this week.
Ooh! I’m going to see The Martian next weekend. 😀
My favorite way to watch movies at the theater is to sneak in a bag of Hershey’s drops and then mix it with the popcorn…YUMMY!!! And of course I have to have a big fountain drink, Red Vines and Sour Patch Kids. 😉
Amy in Vegas for the RT convention?? Things are going to get crazy. 😉
Yes, I was watching the first part of season 3 of Arrow.
Bev, I checked and its not on Netflix streaming yet. Been waiting for it.
Amy you didn’t read the book did you? I don’t think it’s going to matter with this movie. I’m going with my daughter and she hasn’t read it yet either. While I was reading it, I was actually picturing it on the big screen.
Fabi, looks like Oct 7. Have you already watched it when it aired or do you watch when it is released?
I’ve only watched Arrow when it is released on Netflix. I don’t even know what channel it comes on during the regular season. Sorry. I’m a bit of a moron when it comes to TV shows.
Fabi, I watch it first when it comes out on dvd, too.
Wanted to be sure I do mother say to much if you hadn’t watched yet.
Amy I went to see The Martian over the weekend and it was excellent. Amazing cast….from Donald Glover to Kristen Wiig.
I didn’t read this book but I can highly recommend the movie.
Amy, I LOVE The Affair!!! I sat down one Saturday about 3 months ago and watched all the episodes of season 1 back to back. I am so hooked!!! My husband and I went to see The Martian over the weekend. I agree with Lisa, it is a great movie. Highly recommend.
Amy, I feel the same way, when I go for a day( which is too long) before checking in here.
I’m not a tv person either, but both the Affair and Arrow sound good. We were going to go see The Martian over the weekend, but time got away from us. 😉
So The Affair is on Showtime?
I am reading my first Historical Romance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So of course I started with Outlander!
Finished Waiting on the Sidelines. I like teenage angst, but OMG. This was just a serious need to take two kids and smack them multiple times for their stupidity. I still liked the book, but the angst part was for the most part just him being too stupid to communicate and say, hey, this is what’s up and her for jumping to conclusions. Only one seemed reasonable, but even that one, the dude needed a HUGE smack upside the head.
Oh, boy, here’s the thing. You’re gone and you really do miss stuff. Dystopian porn, Las Vegas, Martians, and romantic TV. I have Showtime, but never watched The Affair. Honestly, I have Showtime only because it was cheaper to get HBO with a package. I’ll look into it. The whole Netflix thing, yeah. I don’t have Netflix at all. Oh, and Arrow is on the CW. 😀 I see the ad every time I watch Supernatural.
YAY!!! *flops down next to Shirley* Now I can chat with you about The Affair! 😀 Did you watch it last night? I DVR’d it and am going to watch it this afternoon…
And thank you both, Shirley and Lisa, for the feedback on the Martian…I’m excited to see it!
Cheryl and Tessa…you really should check it out! I’m not kidding when I say it has a slow-burn plus all the other stuff that we usually love in our books with that subject. And ohhhh the fallout, fall-apart, family crises and angst (lighter than our books but only, I think, because it is a show and not a book)…it is SO well done. If this *was* a book, it would be crazy good.
Tessa, I actually have WOTS on my Nook…is it something I would like? And yeah, Maryse was writing dystopian porn on here this weekend…er, I man writing ABOUT dystopian porn. 😛
Bev, you need to join me in Vegas next year…I’m gonna *drag* you out of your shell and send you home with a week-long hangover!!
I really did like WotS. The writing was good and the characters were so real. However, the need to slap he main hero will be HUGE, and she needs to grow a pair. It’s a slow burn type. They meet as freshmen and she crushes, but they become friends instead. However, some of the drama does get a little overly teen traumatic.
I am finally reading Revelry (Taint) by Carmen Jenner. I’m laughing so hard. Anne was right to say it’s definitely rockstars, and not wanna be poet or any job rockstar. Just had to share with you all the fact that I’m laughing seriously loud with this one.
Wow, I just checked and I actually have that book already Tessa. I could use some laughter in my life after the Beware series! BUT, we need to read The House being released tomorrow! Who’s all in?
Sorry Jean, I’m going with the dystopian sex fest. 😉
hahaha I’m not sure what I’;ll be reading. Warning on this one, there is a love triangle and menage. It’s angsty, but yeah. Interesting.
Wait. Wait Wait. Am I the only one that is disturbed that MARYSE is listening to CHRISTMAS music in OCTOBER???? I mean what is next she hands out candy canes on Halloween?
Bev, I’m neither speaking nor thinking about the big C at the beginning of Oct. *shakes head nope*
Amy, I did watch The Affair last night. It was great! Noah is in a mess and dont know what to think about Helen and her love interest. Its going to be an interesting season! I love it!!
Erm, sorry. Christmas music now doesn’t disturb me. The only reason I don’t is I don’t want to be sick of it by Christmas.
I’m trying to talk myself out of it ……….but kinda sorta maybe feels like an ice cream night. Just what kind…..
Wow, Gilmore Girls first came on 15 years ago.
Hmmm. Talk on other post of how scary The House may be. Maryse wants us to video……not going to happen.
Oh I’ve missed a lot! Kinda bummed about Claimed but I’m still going to check it out. I just want a smart, well-balanced dystopian romance that has a good story and is heavy on the romantic aspect…yeah some hanky panky but I need a story in there too. *sighs* maybe next time but I was sooo excited thinking about The Deal meets dystopian!
Ok Menagerie I have to plug…it was dark, wonderfully unique, thought-provoking and had me sucked in from go! If Vincent can keep up the pace, the trilogy should be awesome! It’s a little like The Others series in that there are humans and cryptids (anything not human such as minotaurs, mermaids, centaurs, shifters, ifrits etc.) in this world. After an event called ‘the reaping,’ where human children were replaced with cryptid imposters, cryptids are persecuted, enslaved, treated as property or pets within the US. Delilah, the main character, finds herself captured and put on display in a traveling menagerie despite not knowing she was a cryptid or ‘what’ she is…it’s a pretty neat ‘what’ too! The story is sooo intriguing and just cool. I’ve blabbed on enough but I really recommend it for a bunch on here that like paranormal and ‘different’ paranormal like The Others. There’s no romance but maybe some potential, still I didn’t miss it one bit. Read it, read it! 😀
Sounds really good. Definitely keeping on my radar, sounds like a great October read.
I’m in, Jean!! I’m still reading Thicker Than Blood, which is good but I’m able to put it down and not rush back to it. But tomorrow it’s all about The House! 😀
Christmas music??? No, no, no…let me enjoy one of my favorite holidays this month before we start in on all of the Christmas craziness. *shakes head*
Shirley…I’m FINALLY able to settle in and watch last night’s episode, and I’m so excited about it!!
Tessa…it sounds GREAT with all of the stuff that I love!
Speaking of traumatic teen reads, did you ever read If He Had Been With Me? Oh, my freaking heart. It spans over the four years of high school, but the pacing is absolutely perfect and never felt too fast or too slow. It never dragged, at least not for me because it felt like there was always something interesting going on. I became so wrapped up in the story that I naively convinced myself what was most likely going to happen wouldn’t actually happen. Then BAM…I got my a$$ handed to me. Would you read it if I sent it to you? Come on, you know you wanna…
If Tessa doesn’t want it (boo you if so :P), does anyone else want to borrow it? You would have two weeks to read it.
Michelle, I’ve already downloaded it. It sounds awesome.
Finished Revelry and I really liked it. It was about a four star, but the funny parts were hilarious, the angsty parts were very eep. My issue was the end. It just abruptly ended, as in, I had to read and see if I skipped a page abrupt. Ah, well. It was still mind-consuming until then. After it, though, my favorite was Levi. He stole my heart.
I’ll read Menagerie as soon as I can. That one looks insanely good. Michelle, you’d LOVE Revelry. It was definite steam with the angst and humor. 😀
Amy, that does sound promising though, I’m still angry at the last book. lol It is supposed to have book two and three and seriously, what more drama could those two do? Still, that sounds like what I was looking for. GAH
Yes Bev, Fabi, Tessa you would all appreciate how unique Menagerie is. I just need the next book now! Revelry is by who Tessa? I’m behind a little here on all the new books…
