Happy Friday!
Happy Friday, Grey!
Look who’s first. 😉
Yay! I know, right. Thank goodness I usually have a break right now! Thank you, Maryse, as always for all of your hard work, we so appreciate you!
Devil you Know and Path of Destruction are screaming for my attention.
However I have to finish Raw by Cherrie Lynn first. I’m at 80% and it is really really good. He killed her brother, and now they kind of help each other to move on. I’m at that part now that no matter what, I know it will hurt.
You will love this one Maryse, just as you loved Rock Me.
YAY Pia!!!! I’m adding it to the list! 😀 I LOVE this author and I couldn’t wait for some feedback on this one.
Well aren’t you the happy little butt kisser GREY??? 🙄
Loves ya Maryse, we do!
*snuggles Grey and Ela*
You guys crack me up. My happiness!!! 😀
Hiya lovely ladies.
Just wanted to put my recommendation of The Mind F*ck series by S. T Abby. The first book is called The Risk. It’s a about a serial killer….except SHE is the serial killer and she wants revenge….oh and just to make more interesting she falls for the FBI Agent who is investigating her case!
Daniel that book sounds fantastic. You said it’s a series. Is it completed? If not, do the books end in cliffhangers?
*Dani* sorry my autocorrect changed your name and I didn’t catch it before I submitted. 🙁
After Love Leaves…I can’t figure out if it is male POV or dual POV. Anyone know?
And I’m still planning on Garden of Goodbyes as my March challenge read. 😉
Ooooo Amy – I’m jealous. Garden of Goodbye is definitely on my to read list, so I can’t wait to hear what you think.
And these lists are like crack to me – and what does it mean when I’ve already one-clicked pretty much everything up there that I want prior to this list? Oh yeah, I know what it means…My Name Is Lisa…and I’m A Bookhoarder!!
I have Raw Deal lined up for next weekend. Looking forward to it. I also have There’s This Guy and Beautiful Monsters on my tbr. But I don’t have fixed dates for those yet.
I started cleaning out my tbr last week. Got it down to below 1500 (actually 1499) 😉 Don’t laugh. I removed almost 30 books that I figured I’d never get to.
Hello, my name is Ela and I have 3,884 in my TBR 🙄
8o
Marsye, think KC Lynn is releasing new book Act or Courage March 22
Thank you Theresa!!!! 😀
Hey! My buggy eyes didn’t work. 🙁
: roll : without spaces
😯
No, I want buggy not rolly
Yeah, those!!!
8 O no spaces
Like this? 😯
Yeah!!! Thanks Ela. I’d tried that on GR but it didn’t work so I thought it might be little o. But nope, it’s big O.
Lol! GR doesn’t get emojis!
We really need a reader’s anonymous network.
If you think I’m not addicted…I just took a week off from work so I can laze around the house and read all week. :-/
YES YES WE DO!
I think I need a few years 😯
lol, yes
“…it’s big O”
Yep, ’cause with the O it’s go big or go the he!! home. 😛
I have exactly 100 books in my TBR. Don’t be jealous.
It would cause me panic & anxiety if I had that many on my TBR. I have maybe 40 or 50. I rarely, if ever, read them. Knowing that I seek out my next read on this blog & others’ recommendations, I’m in no hurry to add to my TBR list. Now… if the zombie apocalypse happens I’m screwed.
According to GR, 2819 for me.
😳
Hey Robin – I’d have one more to add to my TBR if you’d just buckle down and give me YOUR book that I’ve been looking forward to reading, instead of hanging out with the likes of Garth Brooks and Two Gritty or whatever the hell that rapper’s name was…just sayin!!!
I’m afraid to count my actual TBR. It’s deceiving because I have them broken down into different collections.
My name is Cheryl and I’m in denial that I’m a book addict!!!!
Ewww, I like the embarrassed emoji Amy!!
OMG Lisa. I just bust out laughing in an oddly quiet bar. Two Gritty!!! I heard that guy joined Glass Surface.
MichelleS…you wouldn’t be screwed, you would have all of us to share our thousands (literally) of books with you!!! 😀
Cheryl…it’s cute, right? Bet ya thought I never blush. 😉
I’m a shameful TBR list payer-attentioner. 😐
I’m with MichelleS. I’ve only 40-50 that I paid for in my TBR. Over a thousand if you count the freebies, but… they were free so I feel no guilt.
What about YOUR “O” AMY????? Haven’t been that good lately or vicer versa and are the BOMB??? Prey tell your secrets!
Mr. President (White House Book 1) by Katy Evans JUST went on sale, $1.99, down from $4.99! Great deal!
Probably only in emoji Amy!!! 😉

LOL bev!
Is it Happy St. Patrick’s Day yet?
OMG IT IS!!!! Oh NOOOOO I wanted to do an all green-book theme today. But still books we’d like ya know?
DARNIT!!!!!!
Happy St. Pattys? 😀 I am dressed in a shirt with green clovers all over it. Little dude wouldn’t let me forget what today is.
You may be a hoarder, Amy. If there’s an apocalypse the internet will be down & you won’t be able to access cloud! I better go buy a solar generator just in case. And more reading glasses. What’s in your Zombie Apocalypse Reader’s Survival box?
GR TBR=2771 but I was just on there this morning deleting a bunch.
I have a crapload on there from 2012 when I starting amassing the over 500 pb’s I have on my bookshelves and from 2013 when I went click crazy when everyone and their brother started self-publishing. A ton of books that ended up having ratings like 3.25 out of 5 that I wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole now! I’m going to try to delete at least 1,000 of them.
Maryse–I asked this the other day, but it got covered up by the not-candy penises! lol
I was wondering if you’re reading Juniper Smoke? That was the one that I considered until I saw a review that mentioned a ‘lack of contractions’. If you’re reading it, are you finding it bothersome or even noticeable?? I really want to read it, but I canNOT handle robot-speak.
Hey Nay!!
I actually don’t notice the lack of contractions at all, and that’s a pet peeve of mine when there’s an issue in the writing like that. All stuttered and robotic like, instead of free flowing.
So I dunno… but for me, I’m not having an issue with that.
Yay! Thanks, Maryse! Because I really want to read it!
Oh, and I just shelved this thriller on my TBR on GR. It’s up for preorder on Amazon and I didn’t see it on your list. Kind of pricey but sounds really good!
‘It’s Always the Husband’ by Michele Campbell
ooooh NAY that one will be for me!!! 😀
That’s a cool idea Maryse. You could still do it. Or do a spring theme on Monday.
Hmm. Does this feel spring or summer ?
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3D_fgbTvfCgSk&ved=0ahUKEwiqrYmd697SAhXBEpQKHSUYC5QQyCkIHDAA&usg=AFQjCNGn3XiZJvU_TNoxzbWj-CNlkH5OOA
Ohhhh cool video bev!! And yes, I think it would be fun to do a “springtime” book-cover theme (but still within our book-love).
Bev, they are wearing jeans in LA. It’s winter.
Lol, Tessa.
3 & 8 seem to be everywhere. 🙂
https://smexybooks.com/2017/03/smexys-top-ten-march-17th.html
Nay, I read Juniper Smoke a little while ago and I don’t remember anything unusual about the contractions (and I’m a bit of grammar Nazi, so…….) You’re aware it’s a CH, right? I did like the book actually, but after a while felt it dragged on a bit too long :-/ (It’s very long). I reviewed it on GR if you want a look, but it’s a bit spoilerish.
Am I the only one that doesn’t like the cover of Quarterback Sack? It puts me right off the book, actually. But hey, just to be balanced, I don’t like all of those muscled male torso covers either……
Jan, I find the cover a bit too overt for my tastes for sure. I mean, design-wise, it’s stunning and gorgeous, but the “image” presented is too much for me I suppose…
Thanks, Jan! I read your review up until it looked to get spoilerish. I’m a weirdo–I love books with an epic saga feel to them (which is ordinarily what I get when phrases like ‘can love survive the test of time’ are in the blurb combined with a long book), but I don’t *usually* enjoy slow burns. I know that probably makes zero sense, but it’s there’s just a slight difference in the feel of them for me. Would you consider Juniper Smoke either an epic saga and/or a slow burn?
I’m so behind in my reading right now that it’d probably be a few months before I tackle it, so in the meantime, maybe I’ll just keep watching the reviews and decide later!
Jan, that cover made me cringe. Yes, there are too many half-dressed male covers, but something about this cover seemed to overly objectify the woman-maybe because it’s a butt shot? Also, the cover has nothing to do with the book-the h is not like that at all!!
Hey Fabi, only just checked back in. It’s a completed series, I think there are 5 books in all, but the are only about 150 pages long and super bargain priced at around 99p each. I highly recommend. The books don’t end on a cliffhanger as such but leave you wanting more!! Everyone I have told about the series has read them in 2-3 days. Please give them ago. I’m pretty sure they are written by a well known author that has written them under a different name I just can’t work out who it is! Xx
Yay thank you Dani!!! I’m going to create a “reading order” post for it, with your recommendation. :D!!!
Bev, so funny. I loved 5 and 3 and I may have spent a little time looking up who Brock O’Hurn is!! 😉
Hey guys! What a crappy week for me! I was looking forward to my snow/reading day on Tuesday and what happens? A pipe under my kitchen sink breaks and water fills the entire cabinet and comes out all over my kitchen floor! Ugh! So much for reading that day! And to top it off, the book I did decide to read SUCKED! And since I never have DNF’d a book, I have suffered through it all week! It’s made me miserable! I swear the was NO EDITING done! And I hate having to slam a book because I feel bad for the author!
So, now, I MUST READ a definite great book! I’m thinking Cruel and Beautiful or Devil You Know. I think Devil You Know because like I said before I think it was written for me!
My TBR (owned books) is at about 1500. Yeah a lot were free and some go back to 2013 that I will probably never get to!
Thanks Dani. It sounds great.
And thank you Maryse. That will be nice to have.
Devil You Know a standalone in a series??
You guys are going to LOVE “The Opposite of You” I JUST KNOW IT!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t stop giggling and swooning and OMG this book is so fresh and fun, and perfect and HE IS INFURIATING and it’s so natural the way it’s all unfolding.
This is going to be 5 stars I KNOW IT. I am so thrilled I can’t stand it, and I’m just devouring it.
It’s… playful but emotional too. Realistic. SO real.
The Worth It cover has always turned me off.
Which one is that one, Maryse? Is it on Tuesday’s post?
Ooh! And it’s Rachel Higginson!!! 😀 I just read the blurb and it sounds like all kinds of FUN.
Oh Jean, that just flat out SUCKS! An awful mess and repair in your kitchen AND a crappy book?? You need candy apple martinis. Just tell me when and I’ll start making ’em. *huge make-it-better hugs*
NAY! You’re deleting 1000 actual books (I swear that gave me hives) or just books from your GR shelves? My TBR is (like Jean) books I own, and I’ve talked about deleting some of them but just can’t do it when it comes down to it. Especially when I get reminded on here about the impending zombie apocalypse and how I’ll have that many less to read, LOL!
Speaking of the apocalypse…MichelleS, my ZARS box has lots of fuzzy socks, fluffy blankets, a blankie fort, and the solar-powered charger from And After for my iPad. And lots of Nutella and yummy stockpiled food and liquor for all of you guys for when you come and find me. Oh, and hubby’s big a$$ knife. 😉
I’m totally trekking your way, Amy, when the Apocalypse arrives. Will your hubby call me Fata, just for fun, please?
Thanx Maryse and Fabi for taking the time to read my post!!!! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did…..and if you hear of any similar book I would love to know. I love a good revenge story with a woman who kick ass!! Thank you xx
*giggle* Fata it is, MichelleS. But…how awful is it that when I think of the zombie apocalypse, I imagine all of us holed up in a big house with our books and iPads and Kindles but no hubby because the zombies got him??
I’m a horrible person. *snort*
Amy, we’d be safer reading with him standing outside guarding with his big knife. 😉
This may be getting weird.
Fabi…probably, LOL!! I’d like to see us try and forage some food for ourselves once we ran out of our stockpile. 😛
Weird is the norm ’round here, bev…you know this!!
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is on sale. 🙂
But we have Fata, I’m sure she is a wonderful forager.
The only foraging I know how to do is in my pantry. :-/
I’ll take that Martini now Amy!
I have to check out The Opposite of You Maryse! I need a 5 star read right now!
I’m getting Fangirl bev, been waiting for sale on that one!
Ha, I went to 1click Fangirl and already had it!
Ugh, The Opposite of You isn’t out yet! Not fair Maryse!
The Opposite of You sounds really good but I HATE that cover. Ick!
Fabi!! Lookie what I found for us, LOL!!!!
https://www.iconundies.com
THOSE will be in my ZARS box. 😛
Amy—no, no,no,no. I’m just deleting books from my GR ‘want to read’ shelf. I’ve never differentiated between ‘books I own’ and ‘books I want to read/own’ like you have on GR (btw, every time I see your GR shelf, I’m jealous that I didn’t keep up with it!) I’ve started keeping up with it better lately though.
I do have thousands of books sitting on my Amazon cloud that I’ve either bought or gotten for free (mainly gotten for free), so I’m covered in case of the zombie apocalypse! lol But I don’t have all of those marked on GR because I’ll never read the majority of them.
*snorts* Amy I nearly needed those undies right then when I clicked on your link and worked out what it was. I’m not trying to diss the unlucky people who really do need them. Just took me by surprise is all LOL….. Maybe we should should keep them handy for the zombie apocalypse when we’re all laughin’ inside with our books and martinis and the guys are out stabbing zombies.
Maryse thank you for that great word – ‘overt’. Yes, the cover of Quarterback Sack is too overt for me as well. Made me cringe. Interesting that it doesn’t reflect the book Cheryl. I guess it’s just an attention-grabbing gambit to attract buyers??
Nay – Juniper Smoke. To me it wasn’t exactly a saga. Just very long. (If that makes any sense??) Although I liked the storyline and the writer’s fresh voice, to me the book needed some serious editing/pruning. I guess it was kinda a slow-burn cos it did take a while for them to do the deed. So, yes and no. (Confused any?) I think it’s worth reading overall. It’s quite a different style from what we usually read.
Just looked at over of Quarterback Sack. GASP! No no no. If your audience is female readers how. I’d you put THAT on your cover? I’m supposed to be the girl in the book (like Maryse, it’s kinda “me” feeling her feelings). I don’t need that butt shot messing with my head. My female leads never look like that. Grumble grumble. Not reading it.
So preoccupied I didn’t even check my typos.
OMG, Amy. I can’t believe you mentioned Nutella! Soraya Naomi, the author I edit for, lives in the Netherlands where they have a big Ferrero factory/store, and last Christmas, she sent me a box filled with Dutch chocolates, including Ferrero Rocher in flavors I’d NEVER seen before. And the chocolate was SOOO much better than American chocolate, I’m telling your a HUGE difference.
So anyway, I was craving something chocolate when I got home from the hospital, and she mentioned Nutella being made by Ferrero (which I didn’t know) and asked if I’d ever made one of their microwavable mug LAVA cakes. O-M-G, she sent me a recipe, and you cook it in a mug for about a minute and it’s WONDERFUL! The recipe she uses is made with just 1 egg plus Nutella, but I ran out of eggs and found another one that has about 7 or 8 ingredients and it’s phenomenal! And it has the gooey Nutella ‘lava’ in the middle.
That is just so wild that you mentioned it since I’ve been going through a Nutella obsession the past week!
Dani–thanks for the rec. on that series! Did anyone mention that the first book (The Risk by S.T. Abby) is free on Amazon right now?? It’s regularly only $.99, but every little bit helps!
Jean–sorry to hear your reading day got screwed up! I used to never DNF books, but I finally decided that there were just too many out there to waste my time on one that was no good, especially if there’s crappy editing.
I feel like I’m one of the very few who haven’t read this, but ‘Crazy Good’
by Rachel Robinson is FREE (reg $3.99) on Amazon today.
Nutella….mmmmmmmm
Double gasp! That Quarterback Sack cover is awful times infinity!!! I won’t read that one either. *gags*
Amy, you know what I always do? Exercise my pelvic floor while wearing my undies with my BFF!
Sounds heavenly, Nay. Nutella was the snack of choice on here for a long while.
We’ve spent a lot of time talking about Nutella and surviving an Apocalypse around here.
I can not remember how any of those discussions got started.
But now I need to make a junk food run. I’m not sure what I want exactly but feels like a junk food type day.
I go back to this has gotten weird again.
Bev, how about some Cheetos? Hubs just came home with huge bag of ’em.
While we exercise?
Well yeah, we gotta work off the cheetos! Duh!
Amy!!! bahahahabahaha
That’s priceless!!! OMG I have to pack some of those for the apocalypse for sure.
Hahahaha perfect find.
Hi,
Is anyone Reading Path of Destruction By Cara Dee? I’m 28% in and I still have no Idea where this book is going. I love when that happens. I feel like I need to chat haha
It’s been weird for years, Bev. Maybe it’s fake Bev? Real Bev wouldn’t think this was weird.
I want a Nutella lava cake! I just had Arby’s for dinner. All by my lonesome. Can finally read in peace! What to read?
Oh my gosh, I’m real bev. Fake Bev just has good taste in westerns. Seriously read that book.
Apocalypse or post-menopausal- I’ll be ordering some of those.
HATED that cover. I tried to look past it because I was really looking forward to reading a sports romance. The premise was ok but the writing was average and while it did get a little better it was definitely not a 5* read. Now I’m in a pissy mood and having trouble finding something that appeals to me.
Amy, pass me one of those candy apple martinis please!!
Maryse, noticed The Opposite of You is book 1. Is it a series??
Also, Maryse is that a typo- it says TOOY is 58 pages?
Listen to how witty this book is.. this is just one of many lines and thoughts that just cracked me up (and I totally relate to her on EVERY level):
“His other hand held a cup of coffee just like mine. Except without creamer. Because apparently, he hated himself.” <---- LOL!!!!! I always think that of those that drink their coffee black. Why do they want to hurt themselves that way??!!! And then SHE goes and thinks that. This book is my perfect book so far.
Witty, and awesome banter, and so normal and real and fun and emotional. I LOVE IT.
I think it’s just a placeholder Cheryl… this book is a full length book for sure.
Lol.
She packed a lot into those 58 pages going by Maryse ‘ s reaction.
Maybe Maryse is getting into short stories.
And if it’s a series, I have a feeling it will be about other characters (which are just as prominent and amazing in this book as the main characters). I ADORE EVERYONE!!!!!
Dear book buds,
This book is why I read. 🙂
That’s all. <3
That’s the kinda book I want to read NOW!!! *crying*
Do you see what book teasing leads to?
Somebody hug Cheryl.
Except Amy or Fabi cause I’m pretty sure they peed.
In their pants.
We need the Poise pads for ’em again…. LOL!!
Didn’t someone recommend the Acquisition series?
I’ll take one of those special panties too. May have cried so hard I peed. 😉
I read Maryse’s excitement over TOOY and got excited myself.
I hugged Fabi.
Fabi hugged me back.
We hugged each other so tightly, we squeezed the pee out of each other.
Right into our new pee-pee panties.
*shrug*
What’re you gonna do?
CANDY APPLE MARTINIS FOR EVERYONE!!!!
Because they are just soooooo yummy.
*smacks lips*
One down, many more to go. Don’t y’all ditch me in here tonight. I’m buzzed and hubby-less and I need my ladies!!!!
I’ll take another martini. Thanks Amy!
I’m watching Iron Fists with my daughter. It’s a Marvel based Netflix new series. Funny thing one of the characters (albeit a crazy, junky homeless dude) said you have to pee in new shoes to get rid of the bad juju from previous wearers. Seems like a pee-themed night!!
*steps out of the shower*
OK, now that I’m all spic n span again, can I have one of those candy apple martinis? God, that sounds so good!!!
https://www.drinksmixer.com/drink11323.html
They ARE good!!
Peeing in shoes before wearing them?!? Fitting for tonight’s conversation but ewwwwww!! Although…were it not for the special panties we *would* have pee in our shoes. *snort*
*rips off Fabi’s towel and runs away laughing*
Awkward.
*stares at Fabi’s right ear*
Um. *stares at Fabi’s right ear*
That galdang Amy. Sheesh.
What’s wrong with my right ear? :-/
They’re avoiding looking at your nekkidness!!!
*holds up Fabi’s towel*
Piss pals? Do you remember that movie with Adam Sandler?
Hi all! *waves* I’ve returned and missed all the fun it seems! My daughter just finished her musical with drama club and it was so good… I’m a proud mama…a tired one, but so proud. Anyway, I haven’t had time to read in days, can you believe that nonsense?!? And missing fun here, unacceptable!
I thought I felt a breeze. Give me back my towel before I catch a cold.
Why am I always the nekkid one? *covers right ear*
LOL!!! I too, wondered… what’s wrong with Fabi’s ear?
*snort*
Here she was nekkid and people were all focused on her ear. And then I was all…. Ohhhhhhhhhh!!! But only after you guys made it clear. 😛
Omg! ROTFLMAO
Just FYI
After You is on sale for $4.99 and
Three Wishes is on sale for 2.99
I think I’m going to start The Acquisition series. Something different and it’s KU and already on my tbr. It’s bugging me that I think someone here recommended it. Otherwise, I may just go paint some more in my dining room or go with my daughter to see Beauty and the Beast or go for a run…
Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs, so much fun. Perfect weekend read. 🙂
I can’t tell you who recommended Acquisition, but someone did.
OOooh, thank you Bev. I’ll… get it next month? *sighs* Stupid game. I already beat it.
Loving and can’t put down Devil You Know! So good!
Loving and can’t put down Devil You Know! Thanks so much for the recommendation!
YAY Courtney!!!!!! 😀 Maybe I’ll start it next.
I was just glancing at Silence Fallen. 🙂 I have to figure out if it’s part of a series. Considering its Patricia Briggs, it probably is.
Hello Maryse!
I was wondering if you knew any books like The Silver Swan and Paper Princess? Im in the mood for reading angsty high school books like those.
Thanks!
Fabi, it’s the Mercy Thompson series. 😀
Maria, Bully by Penelope Douglas
Fear Me by BB Reid
Fallen Crest High by Tijan
OMG, Grey, help. I’m drawing a blank.
Corrupt by Penelope Douglas
Thought I’d hop right back into Etched in Bone, but not what I want right now. I’m not ready to say goodbye either.
Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas.
Bully by Penelope Douglas
definitely Fallen Crest by Tijan
Broken & Screwed by Tijan
Tangled by Em Wolf
Already read everything Penelope Douglas and Fallen Crest High!! Is there really no other book as intense as those? 🙁
Btw, The Silver Swan is AMAZING and very, very captivating… couldn’t stop reading and went to sleep very late!!
Nero by Sarah Brianne
Elite by Rachel Van Dyken
And the issue is, I think, that they are so intense, yet teenagers, some authors don’t want to touch them.
It should be called High School NA dark books. Lol Maybe with a label, more people will write them.
Lol!! High school NA dark romance sounds like a genre…
I guess it fits…
Yeah, it’s not everyday that you see a teenager doing all sorts of dark, kinky stuff
Right? So when it’s found, it’s pretty much gold. 😀
Happy first day of spring!
For some reason I have decided to go with a scifi but it looks fun so we will see…..
Which sci-fi are you reading?
I’m reading a YA Dystopian called The Testing. I’m not finished yet, but I’m thinking it’s going to easily be as good as The Hunger Games and Divergent.
Happy SPRING!!!!!!!!!!
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers.
Not a hard core scifi but seems fun.
Karin Slaughter’s Pretty Girls is on sale for 1.99 today. One of my favorite thrillers!! I finished Mystery at Maplemead Castle last night and loved it, maybe more than the 1st and I absolutely loved that one too. The sexual tension in this one is palpable, and the mystery was fantastic. I’m looking forward to the next chapter in this series!
1st day of spring here is a stormy/rainy day. Which, I usually love but I have to run around all day and that’s no fun. And this day started out bad so hoping it goes up from here. We still haven’t fully recovered from a crap ear infection a month ago and now we have to start up a third antibiotic and 2 more sets of drops, a hearing test and another possible suction attempt. It feels never ending at this point and it’s super pricey. I’ll probably stick with library books for a while. 😉 Also seems the other child has started another round of a cold. Lovely. Thinking I’m going to start The Assasin’s Blade today.
Oooooh TASHA good find!!! Thank you!
