Happy Friday!!!! Who’s spending their weekend reading? —-> THIS GIRL!!!!!! <—- π Whatcha reading this weekend, how are you liking it, and what are you highly anticipating to read? I’m still in choice-mode, so maybe you have one for me (although “Prisoned” below is sure calling me name).
And if you haven’t decided yet, either, perhaps THIS list might have your next one!!! I’ll be updating it throughout the dy and evening as more recommendations or bargain finds are discovered. π
Now⦠take a look at what we found! (NOTE: some are bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):
An Act of Courage (Acts of Honor Series Book 4)Β by K.C. Lynn <— MUCH LOVED SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE ALERT! “…Alissa Malone never thought she would find herself face-to-face again with the only boy sheβs ever loved. But she soon realizes Christopher is not the same man he once was…” back on the list ’cause Charlene loves it!
Charlene: An act of courage by KC Lynn and loving it!
Rebecca: I’ve heard fab things about this book. Do you have to have read any of her other books before this one, or is it a standalone? X
Charlene: It is a really get book just finished it! Do read it π I guess it can be read as a standalone but i do suggest to at least read the 3rd book in this series which is the one before this book. You’ll enjoy it more as you’ll know better the characters’ history. If you can though read the full series it’s amazing! X
- CON MANΒ by T. Torrest <— LIVE!!! HE’S IN THE UGLY DUCKLING MAKEOVER BUSINESS… “…But when Ainsley Carrington signs up as a client, Luke’s world is thrown into a tailspin. Ainsley doesn’t need an image consultant; her image is already perfect just the way it is. Luke immediately finds himself grappling with his attraction to the introverted beauty…”
- Ripple Effect: Episode Three (A Dark Hitman Erotic Romance Book 3)Β by Keri Lake <— LIVE!!! KERI LAKE ALERT!!! I love this author! “From the author of Ricochet and Backfire comes a dark erotic suspense serial …” (I won’t read the blurb ’cause I don’t wanna spoil it for myself)
The Deep End: The Honey SeriesΒ by Kristen Ashley <— KRISTEN ASHLEY ALERT!!!Β Janet recommends TWO books. But especially this one (because even though KA is one of my favs, I was hesitant about this one)
Janet:Β Ok, just devoured L.A. Fioreβ s Devil You Know (Lost Boys Book 1)Β ( Lost Boys Book 1) β GREAT recommendation β and Kristen Ashleyβs The Deep End: The Honey Series. Both VERY good reads. Maryse β I know you think youβre not going to like KAβs new one because its about a Dominatrix but I DARE you to read it, and tell me you didnβt love it!
The characters were just so likeable and somehow she turns subject-matter that seems often seems hard to relate to, and over-the-top, into a big love story with kink. Devil You Know (Lost Boys Book 1) was just a great big sweeping romance, with a terrific hero and heroine.Courtney: Loving and canβt put down Devil You Know! Thanks so much for the recommendation!
- Sex (Hollywood Love Book 4)Β by Jillian Dodd <— JILLIAN DODD’S LATEST IS LIVE!!! KEATYN CHRONICLES SPINOFF!! “Follow the lives and loves of those who work at Captive Films.Β Hot, successful, playboy Riley Johnson, whose business success far exceeds his success in love.Β Movie star, Keatyn Douglas, whoseΒ epic love story has spawned a series of books and movies.Β And Dawson Johnson, who joins Captive with a tragic past.Β Expect lots of drama, sex, and tabloid-worthy events.”
If the Duke Demands (Capturing the Carlisles)Β by Anna Harrington <— HISTORICAL THAT WAS SOMEWHAT FORBIDDENY!!!Β Dianne recommends this one!
Dianne: Maryse, just want to let you know that I wanted to go for something safe between the books that just gets your mind totally messed up.Β Came across Anna Harrington’s new book “If the Duke Demands”.Β I have to tell you this was a absolute gorgeous read.Β The female character was so strong and witty –
I have not loved a herione as much before.Β And even though it was a safe choice – let me tell you the steamy scenes were not!!!Β I also love the forbidden and this had some elements….. so it was hot.Β Her writing is so captivating that I definately will be looking at the remainder of the series which is about the other two Carlise brothers… yummy
- F*ck Club: ConΒ by Shiloh Walker <— EX-ESCORT IS HUNG UP ON A WOMAN… “…Finding a date or company for the night has never been an issue for him, either. Heβs been told more than once that he can charm a tiger out of its stripes. But lately a new hire at the bar is turning the tables on himβshe is the one charming him, twisting him up into knots and getting him so worked up, he can barely see straight…“
- Archer’s VoiceΒ by Mia Sheridan <— RECLUSIVE HERO & THIS IS ONE OF MY 5-STAR FAVORITES!!! And…Β Jennifer just discovered this oldie-but-goodie that was a HUGE hit here (I 5-starred it!!!) She says:
Jennifer: OH-MY-LAWRD. Where to begin…So I finished Archer’s Voice earlier and after I finished I had to send the kids outside to play so I could sit in silence and cope with my emotions and let me tell you I had so many emotions going on, like it literally brought every emotion known to WOMAN out. LOL. It was my first time reading anything by Mia Sheridan and I simply cannot say much I enjoyed her work. It was OH-SO beautifully written and I felt everything Bree and Archer felt, like I was right there in the book (and that rarely happens). I laughed (oh did I laugh), I got angry and wanted to throat-punch certain characters, I smiled so big my cheeks started hurting and then I cried, I cried BIG FAT WHOPPING tears and gosh the ending…
I thought for sure it was going down another direction considering how Mia Sheridan worded it and I almost didn’t flip the page, but hunny, I’m so ecstatic that I did… NEVER SAW THAT ENDING COMING. LOL.
I cannot thank you enough for recommending this book, I have been following your blog for years now and I’m not sure what I would do if you decided to stop blogging ( hope that didn’t sound too dramatic), but it’s true. You are truly gifted in what you do
And to all your followers, do me a favor (a total stranger) and listen up… If you have not read Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan, stop what your doing RIGHT NOW and get yourself a copy. I PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE you will not be disappointed and you will fall in love all over again.
Definitely a 5 star book if not more.
The Testing (The Testing Trilogy Book 1)Β by Joelle Charbonneau <— YA DYSTOPIAN THAT FABI LOVED LIKE CRAZY!!!Β Fabi found us this one! P.S. Here’s the entire trilogy:Β The Testing TrilogyΒ (it’s complete!!)
Fabi:Β I just finished a 5 star YA Dystopian, The Testing. This one is for fans of The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner. Itβs been years since I got these feels from a story.Easily as good as all those I just mentioned.
- Beyond FateΒ by Susan V. Vaughn <—-Β LIVE!!! Β SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE ALERT!! “Julia Diaz never wanted to fall for her friend’s older brother, especially at a college frat party. But, for some reason, her heart was stolen by Russell that night. Eight years after, she never forgot him. Now destiny has brought them together.”
BonfiresΒ by Amy Lane <— LIVE!!! M/M ROMANCE ALERT!! A coach and a science teacher… “…It only takes one kiss for two men approaching fifty to start acting like teenagers in love, even amid all the responsibilities they shoulder. Then an act of violence puts their burgeoning relationship on hold...”
Fabi:Β Β *happy happy dance*Β Ohβ¦Waitβ¦She always tears my heart out.ΒΒ Oh well, thatβs ok. Amy Lane can do whatever she wants with my heart. *happy dance happy dance*
- The Compound SeriesΒ by Melissa Brown <— MULTIPLE WIVES ALERT!!!Β Malin made this recommendation quick and simple and intense. She says:
Malin: The Compound SeriesΒ by Melissa Brown. A six star series.
- Co-WRECKERΒ by Meghan QuinnΒ <β LIVEΒ YESTERDAY (in case you missed it)!! MEGHAN QUINNβS LATEST!!He wants his coworker to notice himβ¦ βI wanted to be friends β I would have even settled for her seeing me as anything but a nerd β but there was no getting through. So just like any hard-headed, red-blooded man out there, I made up my mind.Β Iβd make my coworker fall for meβ¦β
The Tempting Series: Books 1-4: Tempting, Beguiling, Provocative, AddictedΒ by Alex Lucian <β FORBIDDEN ROMANCE SERIES BUNDLE SUPER-BARGAIN!! LIVEΒ YESTERDAY (in case you missed it) TEACHER-STUDENTβ¦ βIt had begun innocently enough, bumping into one another in a crowded Boston bar. What followed that night had been anything but innocent.Β Because Iβd known, even as heβd slid inside of me, that he was my professor. Iβd pursued him, a predator stalking its prey.Β And he didnβt know I was his student.Β But he would.β
- Animal: A Prisoned Spinoff StandaloneΒ by Marni Mann <β MARNI MANNβS LATEST SUPER-DARK ROMANCE READ IS LIVE (YESTERDAY in case you missed it)!!! HEβS THE GUARDβ¦. REMEMBERΒ βPrisoned: A Dark Twisted Erotic Standaloneβ?!!! So many dark-read lovers went crazy for it!! Well lookie what we have here!!!
Jean:Β I just 1-clicked …especially Animal because Prisoned left you with that βwondering WTFβ feeling at the end!
- Dirty Filthy Rich Boys: A Prologue (Dirty Duet)Β by Laurelin Paige <—-Β JERK FACE BULLY ALERT!!! Grey found one for us!!! She said:
Grey: I have to type up my review, but yes!!!! I really enjoyed it, other than than the cliffy that I should have expected, and that isnβt a deal breaker for meβ¦ I can throw myself over a cliff when I know the end is in sight, and she already has a release date for the next book posted, (Dirty Filthy Rich MenΒ <—Β it is just a duet). It was hella hot, had a jerkface bully, witty banter, in shortβ¦it checked a lot of my boxes!

Neener…neener. First! And that is all!!!
Shh.
*Whispers*
It’s only 520.
Someone ate their wheaties.
Are we sure it was only the wheaties???
What else is Maryse taking to be up and productive this early. And Lisa to be jumping around?
Unless they haven’t gone to bed yet. They were out at the clubs all night.
LOL bev… and YES. I was an early bird yesterday for sure…
And if that was a sexual innuendo ……well it’s too early. No. Coffee.
It’s going to go right over my head.
LMAO bev….no sexual innuendos…was thinking more along the lines of my recent read…that they were partying HARD all night and just don’t NEED to sleep…
I didn’t realize Maryse’s Friday post was already up and posted this on Tuesday’s. Figured I should post it here too:
I just saw that Madeline Sheehan posted on her FB page on 3/2 that a release date for Preacherβs book, Undeserving, is βcoming soonβ. It has a new coverβwell, actually all of them have new covers on her website, so maybe getting picked up by a publisher had at least something to do with the huge delay?? All I know is that this is the first time sheβs addressed a release date in ages, even when people have asked, so hopefully, that means it will REALLY, finally be released!
*blinks* This is nice and early. Also, 5:20 to us is 8:20 for them. Why were you awake so early Bev? π I didn’t even glance at anything until now.
I bought Filthy Rich Boys. I didn’t even think. I just know I’ll love it from Grey’s reaction.
Still reading The Weaving Man. (812 pages) Sooooo good, though. I’m still waiting for the truly huge issues to start. I did get to the romantic part. I totally figured that. I’m at 60%.
Me & Ela are starting Aleatha Romigs Infidelity series! Yippee!!! My inner reading goddess is doing the happy dance. My real self is plopped on the couch.
Hey guys, I have something I’ve been working on I’ve been meaning to post….
Brb
I created a book challenge for myself. I looked at all my GR friends shelves from this blog and picked a 5 star/fave book of each of yours to read! Fun right? Since we all like to push the books we loved. I tried to stick with ones already on my TBR so as to not add to that mountain.
(I’ll post better list on GR with book links when I have chance)
Ela – F*ck Love
Anna – The Eagle Elite
Cheryl – The Monday Girl
Nay aka Renee – The Ground Rules
D.G. – Tragic
Tessa – Off the Record
Amy – Experiment in Terror
Bev – Strawberries for Dessert
Paula – Forget
Fabi – Beyond the Sea
Jan – Motorcycle Man
Melinda – Four Letter Word
Jean – Degradation
Tasha – How to Date a Douchebag
Michelle – After Hours
Grey – The King
Lisa – Kyland
R. aka Robin – Unbreakable
Lisa A. – Into the Light
Maryse – Defying the Odds
The only rule is no one getting mad at me if I don’t like it or DNF, okay? π
Leslie that’s a GREAT reading challenge idea!!! Sheeeeeesh my Goodreads hasn’t been updated in years. I need to do something about that.
Yup! Totally an exciting buddy read!
Don’t tease Leslie!
Oh fun Leslie!
Leslie!! That’s so cool! What a good idea especially if it’s already on your TBR!
R, only 2 of them weren’t on my TBR but I wanted to try them, so it works!
So, with all my challenges and various BRs, it shouldn’t be so overwhelming picking the next read. I often have a hard time choosing.
I got Filthy Rich Boys. That sounds right up my alley!
I just finished reading Trigger by Scarlett Dawn. If you like shifter books this is a good one. It’s the first in the series.
Just started reading Juniper Smoke. It’s got my attention, but I need to read more to see if the feels are there.
Leslie-What a great idea! Can’t wait to watch and hear about your progress!
I love your idea, Leslie!! I may borrow that idea to help decide what to get through next on my TBR…and maybe expand my reading horizons!!
And I was up so early because for some dumb reason I have taken to get to work early (like shortly after 6:00 am my time) when I don’t start until 8:00. I can’t seem to break the habit…but it gives me time to play on the interwebs…it’s not like I’m actually working. Heck, I’m not actually working even when I’m supposed to!!!
Leslie, us? Get mad at you? Never!
Speak for yourself Jean! I can get mad, although not at that choice of book from my favorites list since I can’t seem to remember what it was about! I’m still looking for the next Arsen.
Not sure if you’ll see this comment here, Maryse, but I sent you an email from this site yesterday, asking for permission to do something. You probably get like eleventy billion emails…so maybe you haven’t gotten to it. I just want to make sure you actually got it and saw it. You can respond if/when you have time.
Lisa I didn’t get the email at all. Can you send it again? I just did a search for your email address but nothing recent pulled up…
Ela, I did the same thing with the book Leslie’s picked of mine…..I was like “oh that was on my favorites list?” When you find the next Arsen, you will be sure to let us all know!!!!
No, Lisa. You cannot use a naked avatar. Jeez. We just went through this with Fabi!
LOL R, on the naked avatar comment!!! π *snort*
Oh you betcha Jean! There might even be a whole page of caps on here!
Why not Robin??? As long as it’s a HAWT piece of man meat π
I love that, Leslie. I really loved and remember For the Record, though the one you picked from Jean’s list is a huge top favorite of mine. I’m so glad you’re going to read it.
And Anna’s… I loved that book Soooooo much.
Robin – you break my heart!!!
It’s ok Lisa. You’re already a naked manatee, and I suppose that makes bev naked too. You have my support.
Whats everybody reading this weekend?
BR’ing with you the Infidelity series, but tonight we’re going with a group to the Bulls game so I have to make sure my phone is charged and loaded with the series…
I think I’ve only read 4 of the books Leslie picked! Goody! I get to go through all of them and make sure they’re on my tbr and shelve some of them as ‘next’!!! Again, what an awesome idea, Leslie!!
And I’m also looking for the next Arsen (or Thoughtless). With their HUGE popularity, why haven’t there been more? There have been a crapload of biker, fighter, billionaire books–I think I see a new biker series every week!
Reading the Weaving Man and then The Filthy Rich Boys once I’m done. I’m at 70ish percent of Weaving Man so will probably finish that up tonight.
After Hours!!! That was a good one. I think anyone would like that. Slow burn.
Tessa – I’m impressed. Took me forever to finish that book! So worth it though. You met Kaymar & Ifor yet??? You figured out the romance? I wasn’t 100% sure. Was happy though. Except for the part he wouldn’t “you know”.., don’t want to spoil it.
Is it so bad that the one Leslie picked from mine that I had to go back and look it up to see which one it was?!?!? That was an oldie definitely. And I won’t hold it against you if you are all like…why in the world would DG 5 star this one?!?
Part of a series…a good book…not a ‘Wolfsong’ though….
Or a Veil of Vines
And I need something to read….not sure what I am in the mood for…I just hate when I am like this….
Yeah, the sweet, little clues were there were there. I adore Kaymar and Ifor. I looked and am at 80%, so I’ll be done tonight. I know this is building to something, but I just love the story as is, does that make sense?
D.G., I get like that all the time. That’s why I like doing challenges or group buddy reads on GR. I swear the more I have on my TBR, the harder it is to pick something.
Leslie that’s a great idea. Interesting how varied the books on your list are. Just shows our widely ranged tastes. I hope you find some of them that you can 5 star as well. I can’t believe you (or anyone on this list LOL) haven’t read Motorcycle Man. Classic KA. And it’s kinda MC lite, nice for those who don’t like it too gritty.
Jan …I absolutely love TACK!!!!
I would love a good KA book. I started reading her new series and I am struggling….BIG time. I just can’t get into it. Just unheard of…
Yes, Tack!! Gorgeous man.
DG do you mean the honey series? I just couldn’t do it. I tried, but……. dnf. I’m not a bdsm fan, so no surprises there. But I respect the heck out of Ms Ashley’s writing and it’s great she’s trying something different. Just not my cuppa tea.
Maryse thanks for including HRs on your lists. I haven’t read any Anna Harrington and I’m going to check that one out. (And thanks Dianne)
I noticed today there is a new Nia Forrester novella just released this week, called Paid Companion. I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve been going mad on Nia Forrester’s Commitment series lately. I’m loving the heck out of those books. CR series set in the world of behind the scenes US hip-hop music industry. Fascinating, complex, intelligent, sexy characters who go through thick and thin as they travel the rocky road to true love. Best CRs I’ve read in ages.
It is my pleasure Jan. I know many here love HRs AND to me… if a fellow reader loved a book so much to comment about it here, or email me about it, I think it’s worth posting.
Jan, I’m actually not a KA fan. I know, I know, total sacrilege….but I’m TRYING to like her and that one comes highly recommended. So, I’m giving it a try.
“I’m still looking for the next Arsen.”
Yeah, same here. π Not sure it will happen though ’cause that is a high standard. π
Leslie! That is a GREAT idea! π Heads up though on the EIT series…the angst doesn’t really happen until book 3 or so (pretty sure it’s that one) but when it does it will slam into you and is SO worth the wait!!
Leslie- That’s a great idea to get more books off the TBR mountain. I hope you love Eagle Elite as much as I do.
Leslie..Tack Allen is everything you want a hot alpha biker to be….wowza! My favs of KA would be Bounty, Breathe and Walk through Fire
Leslie KA is very popular, sure, but she’s not for everyone, so don’t feel you *should* like her books. But Motorcycle Man is certainly worth a try. Another one of hers I really liked that’s maybe more accessible is At Peace. Beautiful love story along with a crazy stalker kinda thriller.
Garden of Goodbyes is definitely a challenging read for me. It’s REALLY good (even if it is a little repetitive with the whole “they broke my heart and spirit” internal dialogue), and I’m just bracing right now because I know what’s coming in the flashback chapters and ohhhhhhh sh!t…I’m gonna end up hatin’ someone. It’s going to be a challenge to care about Lennox, so if the author can make me do that after everything then she’ll score some major points from me.
And Leslie…even if you don’t care for KA (I’ve struggled a bit with her contemporaries) at least give Golden Dynasty a shot.
Lahn…holy mother of all swoons… *falls back on fainting couch*
I’ve wanted to read both the Rook and Ronin and the Experiment in Terror series for-e-ver! So thank you, ladies, for loving those and Leslie for refreshing my memory! I went through and marked most all the ones I haven’t read–all but 6 of them!
I FLOVE KA–FLOVED Motorcycle Man, but I have no desire to read the Honey series. I enjoy bdsm and most all erotica, but male submissiveness in any form just isn’t for me.
Jan- yes, the Honey series. I usually love all of her stuff so I one clicked it. About 25% in and struggling
D.G.–from the reviews I’ve seen, a lot of people are struggling with it.
R, sometimes Lisa and I need to feel the breeze and live free.
I’m laughing because Strawberries was one of my favorites in 15. But pretty sure did not mean to give it 5*. However, it was a good read and I think it is an awesome idea Leslie. Really cool.
3 things.
Drinking a strawberry Italian soda.
Mr. Jones just segued into Who will save your soul, I’m re living high school. Had both of those albums….um tapes, lol.
My alarm goes off at 5 am.
Bev, that puppy is so cute! That explains why you were talking at such an hour. My alarm doesn’t go off until six, and the last thing I do is try to think at that hour.
3 things:
1. It’s raining again. (I love that phrase because it was part of a horror game.)
2. I honestly can not watch scary movie, but horror games are okay. The nightmares from games are less, probably because I have to use my imagination to puzzle out how to win.
3. My favorite sandwich is a nice sandwich with tons of lettuce, pickles, lots of olives, mustard, vinegar and some meat. π
Nay- I am so glad it’s not just me! I keep telling myself I need to go back to it and try again.
3 things…
I am eating a salad and typing…
I am having a WTF moment…the hub set a canister of ant poison on my mantle?!?!! (With my Easter stuff!!!!)
I am probably going to re-read a book due to indecision
1. Fabi’s helping me with a sex scene over email right now.
2. I made the best fish tacos of my life for dinner.
3. I’m listening to Black Lab cranked on the stereo outside.
3 things:
I can’t wait for real spring weather…sick of cold & snow.
I just ate watermelon sherbert – yum!
I think it should be legal to smother your husband with a pillow if he snores.
Three things…
1. I had a rare craving for Popeye’s. Guess what’s for supper? π And I want watermelon sherbet for dessert now.
2. PMS sucks monkey balls.
3. I agree with Leslie’s third thing. It should also apply to a hubby who puts ant poison on a mantle next to Easter stuff.
3 things
1. I am not asking for a naked avatar
2. I’m reading (listening) to Strawberries for Dessert next in my lineup.
3. Leslie, I love your personal challenge and it gives me an idea for another reading challenge we should try in our group.
I wanna play 3 things too!
1.) My dogs are both snoring, and it’s peaceful.
2.) I wish I could have apple pie for breakfast. But I don’t have any.
3.) I’m reading “My Life Next Door” and enjoying it, and wondering where it’s going…
3 things:
1. I’m making a Nutella lava mug cake.
2. I’m almost to the end of Badger and I’m scared!
3. I’m getting ready to watch my alma mater, Kentucky, open up a can of whoop-a$$ on UCLA–GO BIG BLUE!!
Oh wait… Nutella lava cake in the morning sounds just about right, too. I mean it’s Nutella. That’s breakfast, right? And cake… that’s just super moist sweet bread, right? π
3 things:
1. Just got home from date night with hubby. Red Robin for quick dinner and then new movie Life at theater.
2. Now jammies on and back to reading Left Hanging and loving it!!!
3. Left over red velvet cake w/cream cheese icing in fridge I’m desperately trying to avoid!!!
I second that Amy!!!
A book sex scene or a real life sex scene?
*fist bumps DG*
Nay…I would offer you some Jager for Badger but it’s probably too soon after your transplant. *whispers* But tell me if it’s not and I’ll hook ya up. π
3 things:
1. Watching Chris Hemsworth in Thor while at the same time,
2. Finishing Hearts of Blue by LH Cosway, and
3. Listening to my husband snore on the couch.
Fun Friday night!
OOH Linda…how was Life? I really want to see it…
Oh sorry bev. Real life, definitely.
Grab a pillow Jean. π
So what’s Fabi’s best tip?
Lol Amy!
Watching the college basketball games too. Need to beat everyone at work with my bracket! (Yes Nay, I’m pulling for Kentucky!)
I want to see Life too! It looks great!
Don’t do it, Jean.
DO IT Jean!!!!
Er… what are we peer-pressuring Jean to do? Or not do.
I say do. That sounds riskier!!! π
Jean–yay! They’re driving me crazy! They just can’t pull ahead and STAY ahead!
You’re right, Amy–too soon for booze…or sodium…or sugar….
We’re encouraging Jean to smother her hubby with a pillow for snoring per Leslie’s third thing. π
Oh… er…
Maybe don’t do it Jean. *eeeeeeep!!!* π
Well, yes manslaughter is for sure riskier.
And DR’S husband bought poison.
I’m pretty sure we have just gone noir.
Snoring = justifiable manslaughter
Or.
DG’s husband that sinister mister and Jean are femme fatale have fallen in love. Fallen in love right here on the blog. And are planning away to be together forever.
Whoa.
Its. Nay. Nay is a cover name for DG’s husbsnd.
Kentucky is the code name for the double murder plan.
Get in the car and go DG. Go fast.
Remember he is a slow driver.
LMAO bev! You are nuts!
How did I end up with this online persona as a nekkid sexpert? :-/ R!!!
I like having this entire noir team though. Next time I need to snuff someone I know where to go for help and ideas. π
Nay: “Open a can of whoop ass” = “Jean, my dearest, I am about to open the bug spray”
Jean: “Fun Friday night” = “My pillow is in hand my lovely. ”
Nay: “Go Big Blue” = “Let’s try the new move “Big Blue” that Fabi taught us when we meet again.”
Jean: “Finishing Hearts of Bue”=”My hearts a flutter”
Fabi: “gave me an idea for another challenge for our group” = “I’ve thought of another sex move let me email R to test it.”
I can’t stop laughing! Hysterical!
Mwahahaha!!!
When I was in the hospital getting my heart pump, they had me on some wicked meds that made me hallucinate and I had my sister giving me a code word (orange) that I was supposed to pass along to a male nurse as they wheeled me out of the hospital, and he was supposed to pass it on to a medical facility they were opening in Florida.
I had to ask my hubby if there were any suspicious looking male nurses hanging around, and I had to ask my sister if anyone gave her the code word ‘orange’. Of course, the answer to both was ‘no’, and I KNEW I was hallucinating, but I’m telling you it seemed so real!!
LOL on the code-orange Nay. Clever code since it was for the Florida facility. π
Wow Nay. I’ve had that crazy feeling when you think something you just dreamed was REAL. Kinda weird feeling.
DG I think I only got to about 25% of the honey book too before I said, nup, not for me. You’re not alone.
Now after reading all of those comments I’m hungry. I want fish tacos and a nutella lava cake. Or red velvet cake with cream cheese. Or all three π
Yeah, that red velvet cake with cream cheese icing was sounding AWESOME to me! Especially right out of the fridge–YUM!
Nay did you finish Badger? I’ve been avoiding the spoiler thread because I was so far behind. I’m at 60% and it’s like I’m watching it on a screen. The story is awesome, but I’m detached from it somehow. Like something awful will happen and I’m like, “man, that sucks,” but I’m not feeling it personally. I feel like I’m missing something. :-/
Man I missed a lot tonight. I hope Jean and Leslie’s husband’s are still with us.
Fabi, you’re welcome.
And my husband didn’t eat his fish tacos and I’m just sitting here contemplating how pissed he’d be if I were to take care of those for him. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen?
I love fish tacos so much. I think I’m going to make myself some today. What a great idea!!!
*sneaks into Linda’s fridge and steals red velvet cake*
*now knows about Linda’s red velvet cake and wants a slice of that for breakfast instead*
*sneaks in behind Leslie’s-cake-thieving-self and sneaks a slice*
So, the first Infidelity book is good so far. It’s one of those flash back/forward every few chapters and its super mysterious. I have no clue whats going on, but my interest is piqued.
Robin–I’m at 86%, and and I feel like you and I are having the exact same reading experience with this book! Awesome story but I’m also detached somehow. I think that happens sometimes when so many others have read (and loved) a book and it doesn’t hook you right away, most likely because the big thing that happens is at the end. That’s just my guess, though.
Oh, and I haven’t posted anything even remotely spoilerish. There are a couple of hidden things, but even if you accidentally looked at them, they’re no big deal because nothing earth-shatteringly spoilerish has really happened.
Bev – you are HILARIOUS! *whispers and the ant poison is still next to the Easter bunny*
Three things:
1. My fingernails are black from my Pinterest Fail attempt at chalk paining my dining chairs.
2. I think my hubby is slowly trying to kill me, bought a cheese danish, and I’m a diabetic.
3. Had to get warm clothes back out because Texas weather sucks, and I guess the 80’s weather was just a tease.
Nay! I think I’m at the same place. Right after I posted last night at around 65%, it changed course and I started really feeling… OK I’ll move to the thread so I don’t spoil anything π I’m at 88% though.
Maryse! Will you share your fish taco recipe? I love seeing how people do theirs! I’ve always used mango pico/shredded cabbage/and a basic sauce (sour cream/mayo/lime juice/cayenne), but some people use avocado cream, or sriracha! I also use flour tortillas because I can go with low carb, cooking them over the flame of the gas grill, and I never bread the fish. OMG now I’m hungry again!
I’m a more “sour-lemony-salty” fish taco version…
white fish (whether just fish filet or BREADED-FRIED fish filet – I love both but mostly the unbreaded because it’s so fresh and light and healthy).
All of this either in hard shell or soft shell taco (I always prefer soft shell), with, first, a twist of lemon or two on the fish directly, then some shredded cheese (or the mexican cheese that is so fun) a scoop of guacomole (on the salty side), and tablespoon or two of either pico de gallo OR of green tomatillo salsa.
Maybe a touch of of sour cream (but I go sparingly on that because I LOVE the lemony-salty-bright flavor of a fish taco – any creams seems to dull that a bit, and the guacamole is enough “dulling-down” for me)…
Someone be prepared to catch Amy so she doesn’t fall again, lol.
I keep meaning to read My Life Next Store I have the 2nd one too.
MichelleS, do you then write on the chairs?
Bev – it’s chalk paint, not chalkboard paint. It dries a chalky finish, but has nothing to do with chalk. You then wax it and buff it, or put poly on it. It sticks to anything, and needs no prep. You’ve never heard of it?
LMAO….no. I really thought you meant chalkboard paint. Lol.
I’ve heard of milk paint which I think can look cool.
Just looked it up. Nice. Like this color alot.

I was just thinking of you MichelleS. Have you seen His Custody by Tamsen Parker? Been seeing it pop up. It is a guardian/ward CR. I’m not sure I’ve read one of those since old old Harlequin present and old HRs.
Hey everyone, sorry I was MIA yesterday, it was an awful day! Oh, I see some peeps are intrigued by Dirty Filthy Rich Boys… My advice, wait until Dirty Filthy Rich Men comes out on the 27th, because it includes the DFRB novella. But buyers beware, there is a cliffy! I really liked it though! And the author name dropped Hudson Pierce in there and I was all awwww, nostalgic feels!
Anyway, I’m reading one off my Best of 2016 spreadsheet from my book twin, Jean, right now, and actually… It’s a read and review of books 1 and 2 that I got for free for reviews… So two books really. Night Shifts Black by Alyson Santos, and then the follow up Tracing Holland.
3 things… 1) I made homemade monkey bread… And gained 5 pounds just looking at it.
2) I think Leslie’s idea of the 5 star challenge is genius, the only thing I’d like to do…is ask everyone to pick one book from their 5 stars for me/us to read!
3) snoring hubby…totally justifiable reason to shiv him.
Amy, are any of these 5 stars? A Thousand Letters, What Alice Forgot, Forbidden, The Promise of Stardust, Bad Romeo, The Turning Point, Mud Vein, A Court of Thorns and Roses?? You have several I haven’t read but I own these. Well, most of these.
bev, any of these 5 stars? Sempre, Captive Prince, Transcendence?
Grey your suggestion runs along the same line as what I was thinking for a challenge read.
I was sort of combining Leslie’s idea with another challenge I’m doing and coming up with: each of us makes a list (or GR bookshelf) with 15-30 books that we want to read. Then we do a random match of names for everyone wanting to participate. For example, Bev gets matched to pick a book for you from your list. You get matched to pick a book for Nay, etc.
Since it’s the end of March and we’re already doing a monthly challenge, we could make this one a quarterly challenge with 3 quarters left in the year.
Anyone interested? Any questions?
I love all these challenge ideas! They are really kicking my TBR’s butt. I went through and picked books for everyone like Leslie did, but…ahem bev and Amy, your lack of stars halted my progress! π The cool thing is, almost every single book I picked is one I already own and most are pricey paperbacks!
Fabi–that sounds fabu! (see what I did there? lol) Count me on on whatever you come up with for the challenge!
Maryse–Wow! I didn’t even think about the connection between ‘orange’ and Florida. I guess that even while hallucinating, I had some of my wits about me!
Robin–I FLOVED Bad Romeo! That was one of my top 5 books read in 2015. Very angsty!
One thing:
I’ve NEVER had a fish taco…E-V-E-R! And I love seafood and I LOVE soft tacos.
OMG Nay. I’m emailing you. You haven’t lived.
Captive Prince, R. It’s awesome.
Yes!! I was hoping you’d pick that one!
The other 2 are really good reads too. All completely different from each other.
I’ve got them all lined up, just waiting on Amy now! Unless anyone remembers if she had 5 star faves in any of those! Well, actually these now: A Thousand Letters, What Alice Forgot, Forbidden, The Promise of Stardust, Bad Romeo
Can’t say. I know she really liked Bad Romeo and I think Forbidden is one the twins went crazy over, but not sure.
Yay! I picked my peeps books!
Ela: How to Kill a Rock Star
Anna: Making Faces
Cheryl: The Monday Girl
Nay: The Bully
DG: Lick
Tessa: The Virgin Romance Novelist
Amy: Forbidden
Bev: Captive Prince
Paula: Sempre
Fabi: Try
Jan: The Turning Point
Melinda: Room 212
Jean: 53 Letters for My Lover
Tasha: What Alice Forgot
Michelle: A Court of Thorn and Roses
Grey: Mud Vein
Lisa: The Hating Game
Leslie: Something Borrowed
Lisa A: Whispers and the Roars
Maryse: The Martian (IF I can find the original cover, new) or ROOM if I can’t
Woops! Missed Bad Romeo, so had to adjust. Let go of Room 212 since it was free.
Nay: BAD ROMEO
Tessa: THE BULLY
Melinda: 53 LETTERS FOR MY LOVER
Jean: MUD VEIN
Grey: THE VIRGIN ROMANCE NOVELIST
And I found The Martian, hardcover, new, $10 including shipping on Amazon! Score!
Maryse is reading My Life Next Door?!?
*skips around tossing candy confetti*
I swear, the H and his family totally made that book for me. LOVED it!! π
You mean Bully by Penelope Douglas? Because if so, honestly one of my favorites ever. However, warning, he’s far from a sweet, strong beta. Jared is a jerk.
Oh, and finished The Weaving Man. It’s not high on angst yet, (though there were parts that were), but the story telling and characters and everyone’s relationship with each other was just beautiful to read.
Next. *rubs hands in glee* Grey’s rec. I have a feeling her arc was the second book that comes out Tuesday.
Transcendence!!! 5 star read.
R!! Sorry I wasn’t on here sooner to answer you.
First off, I’m stealing one from bev’s list…TRANSCENDENCE!!!!! Totally, completely, without a doubt 5 STARS!!
From the list you posed to me, Forbidden is most definitely 5+ stars and most definitely a Marmy which will work you over in ways you won’t see coming. Glad to see you going with it…just avoid spoilers at all costs. With The Turning Point, I had to adjust to the writing style but when I did I was smitten. The relationship between them was beautiful, and ohhhhh the heartache. Bad Romeo is one of my favorites because of the angst, but you will only get resolution if you read Broken Juliet so you have to commit to both books. It’s pretty much one long book broken into two. And Mud Vein…what can I say other than it’s the only five-star read that I loved as much as I hated. And yes, I recommend it. π
And of all the “peeps’ books” you have up there which I have read, they all get thumbs up from me…good choices!!
Except your decision with Room 212. THAT is one of my favorites and you tossed it. *shakes head* Sad, sad moment for me…
Thanks for the warning, Tessa! It’s actually a paperback I snagged on sale, so I feel like I need to give it a shot. For some reason cheap paperbacks staring me down are harder to ignore than expensive e-books! There are a few on that list that are YA or HS teens that I may have issues with, but I bought them :-/ Maybe expecting it going in like I did with Paper Princess will alter my opinion!
Sorry Amy! I only tossed it from this list because I’m trying to knock out books I paid for already! But it’s still on my TBR and I’m reading it!
Captive Prince YES!! (And the rest of the trilogy – but once you read the first one you won’t be able to stop)
The Turning Point YES!! Beautiful heartbreaker
The Martian YES!! Not a romance, but just a fascinating and gripping read
I haven’t read many of the others. Hmmm. I’ve got some work to do. *sneaks to Linda’s frig for some red velvet cake and notices there’s not much left* Sorry Linda π
I’m happy to try your idea, Fabu…er…Fabi.
Yay! Another list of books to look up and add to my tbr! I think I’ve read 7 on this one!
Finished Badger and really enjoyed?? it (don’t know if ‘enjoyed’ is the appropriate word, but you know what I mean–it was a great book!)
Oh the bully the whole series was Great! But The Bully is one of my all time favorite’s.
Fabi – what do we call this bookshelf? Can we all use same name so it’s easy to find?
R – have you read Transcendence yet?
If not, it’s up as a loaner….
You opened a door with that book, R, lol.
Some on here loooove that book. Meet your new peanut.
I haven’t DG! It’s on my TBR too. I own Lick, but I’m not super excited about it. Should I switch?
Which one bev?
Transcendence.
*throws Transcendence peanut at R*
R, I picked Amy, Bev, Maryse (and maybe a few others) off the favorites lists from this blog. (since they don’t have GR books rated)
I floved Books 2 and 3 of Stage Dive series: Play and Lead. Much better than book 1 (Lick) IMO. Lick was good but for me 2 and 3 were much better written and more engaging. Book 4 (Deep) I didn’t enjoy as much although it’s got a cracker of an opening scene. But I didn’t like the H as much in Deep. Mal from Play is a wonderful character. I kinda picture him as (a much sexier version of) Jack Black. Don’t let that put you off LOL, but Mal’s definitely cute with loads of warm, self-deprecating humour. And Jimmy from Lead. Yeah, what a hottie *mops sweat from burning brow* I normally struggle with books about addicts/reformed addicts, but I loved this one. A beautiful story.
Transendence is really good too. If you haven’t read it, put it on your tbr now! It’s a unique but wonderful love story. It totally works, even though I went in very hesitantly, thinking a *caveman* romance? Yeah, whateva. But no, really, it’s great.
Hold up! I’m confused… R!!!! Your list, you’re gonna read all of these? You’re swapping out Mud Vein for me with Virgin Romance Novelist… Hmmm, I’m not sure how I feel about this, haha! I really need to update my good reads with my 2nd kindle TBR…
Somebody needs to read some Nia Forrester. Try ‘The Come Up’ or ‘Afterwards’. The series doesn’t have to be read in order. I haven’t been – I’ve still gotta finish #1 ‘Commitment’ – that one’s a bit angsty so I’m holding off till I’m feeling strong enough to deal. Come on peeps. Don’t leave me hangin’ all alone here.
LOL Jan! You know I’m gonna find you some readers for sure on this one. I”m going to add it to Tuesday or Friday’s next list. π π
Grey, I MUST HAVE MONKEY BREAD!!!
Fabi, count me in the challenge. π
R, should I make GR thread for our “book buddies faves” challenge? It might be easier to keep track of.
Leslie, omg girl, it was gone by about 1230, haha, my kids were on it and boom…gone! Delish, so much better than the prepackaged stuff, although I did cheat today and used grands biscuits instead of making the biscuits part of the monkey bread from scratch.
Grey, only because someone else had Mud Vein as a 5 stars and I want to read both!
R, Lick is good…I liked it but again it was a early on read. Maybe 4 stars not 5. If you want to change to Transcendence then again it says I can loan this book….never done that but will be willing to try.
lol She originally had us switched, Grey. I was Virgin Romance Novelist. I like Bully more. If you liked Paper Princess, I think you’ll like Bully. It has HS characters that don’t feel like HS characters. The author out and out said, “I don’t do YA. Bully is NA.” Also, good writing. π
Ohhh, I liked Bully…I liked the follow up to Bully even more, Until You, it got a 5 star from me. Mud Vein was a definite 5 for me. Virgin Romance Novelist was a campy fun light hearted 5… I have to be in a particular mood to read that kind of book. I love the idea of this challenge! Thanks for helping explain, Tessa!
You guys are making me laugh.
“That’s a good choice….but….maybe I like this other one better.”
I like the idea. It’s just I’m the worst at reading recs and sticking to a schedule.
Though I kick ass at buddy reads. π
Oh NO my bev is a different kind of grouchy puppy!!!
LOL!!! At least I still recognize her. π
I’m not kick-ass at any of that. Schedules…. buddy reads…
LOL!!!
What I’m kick ass at is SQUIRRELING!!! π
Though I’m still very much into my current read. No squirrel. π
lol Bev! And you’re welcome Grey! I went to start the Filthy Rich Boys, and um… fell asleep. Only for about thirty minutes, but today, that was all I had. So I have made it to page… 2! π
Tessa… sometimes we’re just tired.
It happens.
To me.
A lot.
π
I am allergic to seafood… So yeah. I’ll just hang out over here and make more monkey bread LOL!
Grey – pass the monkey bread….I do not eat fish or seafood. And speaking of monkey bread…have you ever made it with cream cheese wrapped in the chunks of bread?!?!? YUM!
Tessa, you’re gonna love these books… I do that often, fall asleep while reading- almost every night actually.
bev, you are a kick ass BR-er… I need to be a better scheduler… This monthly challenge is making me a bit better about my reading schedule!
DG, like a sweetie blintze? That’s what we call them and yes! I have.
CREAM CHEESE INSIDE THE MONKEY BREAD?!?
D.G. – YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!!
Leslie, not a genius…I just spend too much time on Pinterest! Like way too much time…
Grey – never heard it called that but it is probably the same. Definitely yum!
I did! At four in the afternoon. It was odd. My only defense is I’ve been walking with the kid since 8:45am. But it wasn’t all walking! He has a recreation fun thing, so we walk to it, it starts at 9:30. The library is in the same park, so I walk to through the park for a half hour, just doing whatever. It opens at ten, so for a little over an hour, I just write. Then, 11:30, walk to pick him up. We go to the library. From there, we go to Taco Bell. Then we walk to his old elementary school where he plays. Then, we walk to a transformer next to the Visitor’s Beureau. Then home.
And now that I wrote that down… this is why I fell asleep at 4 in the afternoon. π
FABI! Did you finish the Darkest Mind series? If so, mark it darn it! I was using that one for you, since I’ve got one book left. lol
It’s my nekkid puppy. I’m standing in solitude with Lisa and Fabi.
Agree, DG—no seafood. Lemon, guacamole, and green (mild) salsa yes. Hmm. Thinking tacos tomorrow.
Guac, now that is another yum, yum! Bev, I can eat all that! Sounds like we need a table off to the side from our fish eating buddies…
Grr. Standing in solidarity.
Yes, DG. And because fish smells.
No fish. No guacamole. Both yuck.
Tentative list, only change depending on Fabi and if she’s read that book. lol
Ela: Etched in Bone
Anna: Outlander
Cheryl: Full Tilt by Emma Scott
Nay: Darkest Night
DG: Frenched by Melanie Harlow
R. Renee: Simon vs The Homosapian Project
Amy: Marked by PC Cast
Bev: Landline
Paula: Commitment by Nia Forrester
Fabi: In the After Light by Alexandra Bracken
Jan: Sabriel by Garth Nix
Melinda: Alpha by Jasinda Wilder
Jean: Loving Mister Daniels
Tasha: On the Jellicoe Road
Michelle: Familiar Stranger
Grey: Beautiful Stranger
Lisa: Read My Lips by Daryl Banner
Leslie: Hunger Games
Lisa A: Complete Submission by CD Reiss
Maryse: Every Wrong Reason by Rachel Higginson
Bev, Now that looks amazing….
Tessa, are you really going to read Simon, Jellicoe Road, and Landline? ??
And Etched in Bone, lol.
Yep. I know I laughed at Etched in Bone too. But yep. I had plans to read them originally. I own Landline. I currently have Simon sitting next to me. And I know the library has Jellicoe Road.
I didn’t pick it Landline for my “everybody has read” because I felt more people had read Dirty Red. Landline… not so much. So Dirty Red really felt like it fulfilled the challenge more. Also, it’s book two! You know how nice it is to get closer to finishing a finished series?
Tessa!!!! Yessssss!! OMG so many exclamation marks!
MichelleS, I’ll start a thread in Maryse’s Wolfpack in GR. I was thinking of calling the shelf/list something straightforward like Pick For Me. But of course if anyone has a better idea I’m all for it.
I think it’ll be easier there with the shelves. Unless anyone would rather not hit GR, then we can try at both places. This challenge will be a lot easier than Leslie’s, which unfortunately I can’t commit to. This year it will only add 3 books to our reading. One per quarter. If y’all want to continue next year we can bump it up to monthly.
Tessa, honestly, I don’t know if I’ve read that one. You should read it though to finish up the series. I don’t read as fast as you do so I miss out on a lot of great books.
BTW, when are tall reading Etched in Bone? Could we make that one a BR?
Thank you Maryse. I wanna share the Nia Forrester love. See, Paula loves the Commitment series too π
May I please have a slice of monkey bread? (or is it a chunk of monkey bread?)
Tessa, you haven’t read Beautiful Stranger? Sexiest opening scene eva!!!! Max and Sara. Rowrr!! And #3 Beautiful Player is even better. Will from Beautiful Player is one of my book husbands. I’m polyamorous that way. (Is that the right word LOL?) Anyway, I didn’t mean anything too saucy. I just mean that Will’s not my only book husband. But he’s right up there!
Sabriel is book 1 in a lovely YA fantasy series. Not really any romance as such. Very clean, and suitable for reading for teens. But a great read. Book 2, Lirael, is even better.
Jan! We’ve been over this… Will Sumner is MINE!!! I licked ALL the Important parts! You’ll love Max and Sara though, Tessa! And yes, Jen, I will share my monkey bread, as long as you promise to stay away from my book boyfriends!
I’ve not read past the first book, Beautiful Bastard. That was YEARS ago. lol I think it had just come out at the time. I’ve read Garth Nix. I’ve no issue with reading a kid’s book. I just got one from the author of Howling Mood today at the library, and I’m curious about Garth Nix’s most known book. I read his Week books, though I think I’m still on Friday.
Fabi, the one I mentioned is the last to the Darkest Mind series. That’s why I asked. It’s kind of cheating because I plan to read it, but I kept putting it off. π As to BR, that sounds good. I admit, I haven’t bought it yet. I was going to, but my sister in law persuaded me to buy Diablo instead, which I sadly beat in a week. Sooo… In April I’ll be buying it. π
As far as the recommend a book already on your TBR, that sounds good. It might make me have to actually READ some books I’ve put off. lol
Fabi, have you read Kay Simone’s One Giant Leap? The reason I ask is it’s an M/M and someone I’m friends with on GR absolutely adored the book, saying it’s one of the best of the best.
I hadn’t heard of it Tessa. Going to look it up now.
Tessa, books 2 and 3 are MUCH BETTER than book 1 of the beautiful series. IMO, anyway π
*gets Lysol out to wipe off Grey’s lick cooties*
We can share, Grey. Don’t fight it.
My on question is what is Monkey Bread? I cook a lot but never heard of that.
In fact I had 35 people for dinner last night and now I’m recovering reading.
Great idea Leslie.
I thought maybe Amy’s favourite book was Therapy as well as Room 212.
R Room 212 is really good as well as Golden Dynasty and Motorcycle Man can’t go wrong with any of those.
Just hard trying to find a good book. 5 star good book. That I haven’t read.
Fabi, (and anyone else) I only posted my “book buddy ” challenge to show everyone what I thought was cool way to help me pick my books for the year. No worries about joining in. π Plus, squirrelers like Maryse can’t deal with book schedules. Hee hee
Tessa, great list! (OMG, you havent read Hunger Games???)
Melinda, Monkey Bread is this delicious pull apart bread that you make with biscuits and cinnamon. TO. DIE. FOR.
Bev, fish IS smelly AND icky!
Ok, I have my Book Buddy Challenge posted on GR. π
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/18543318-leslie-s-2017-book-buddy-challenge
R. & Tessa – feel free to post yours!! I’m going to make a shelf too. That helps keep me more organized.
Tesss – MY FAMILIAR STRANGER!!! OMG, you’re going to fall in hard love with Rammel Hawking. Pick Ram. You will not be disappointed.
Wait. Who hasn’t read Golden Dynasty? Missing. Out. …. seriously. Will re-read that anytime I’m in a funk. If you liked Monning’s Highlander series, you’ll love GD.
Leslie and Fabi, just so you know The Monday Girl is a duet- Someday Girl is book 2.
I recently tried fish tacos and in fact making tacos today using my HelloFresh food/recipe.
https://www.hellofresh.com/recipes/w12-r5-family-589a144a8e8c611def2593f2
I am not a big KA fan either, and so have not read Golden Dynasty.
I’m not sure on GR I’m on the Maryse’s wolfpack group. Have to check that out today.
Snoring is a criminal offense and needs to be dealt with swiftly and harshly. Lack of sleep—>Justifiable temporary insanity defense. π
I have to change Maryse’s from Every Wrong Reason to Five Stages of Falling in Love. Apparently I’ve read EWR already.
Cheryl, that’s one of those ingredient subscription boxes, right? Do you like it?
Golden Dynasty is one of my top 3 KA books, and really, probably one of my top 5 anybody books. It’s one of the hottest books I’ve ever read AND it has a great storyline, and I’ll take a savage barbarian the way that only KA can write them any day!!
Cheryl–I’m interested in knowing about the ingredient box too. If you don’t mind my asking, is it really expensive??
Leslie–I’m working on my list now. Will post it on the thread on GR soon.
Speaking of snoring–I’m a terrible, LOUD snorer from way back. So bad that I used to ruin everyone’s sleep at slumber parties in high school. So anyway, I haven’t snored for the past year or so, and I thought I had finally outgrown?? it (or however you might get rid of it), but it seems it had something to do with my crappy OLD heart because I’m sawing logs like gangbusters again! I’ve woken my entire household several times over the past couple of weeks! lol
Cheryl, I’m cool w/duet, I already own both books.
Nay, anyone who has heart transplant gets a free pass for the snoring!!! π
I love Leslie’s challenge! I’ll be adding my list to her GR feed tomorrow! I love seeing everyone’s picks and knowing some of you are in for great reads! I’m dying to check your lists out and make my own but I’m away for the weekend with friends and I guess that would be rude. Lol
So I got a lend through lending books that I’ve been wanting to read forever, Neighbor Dearest by Penelope Ward. So guess what I’m reading? π
Thanks, Leslie–that’s what my guys all say!
Tessa–Ooh fun! Just like Christmas!!
That’s awesome Tessa. It’s always such a surprise treat to get that loan email. I always squee. Although lately I end up groaning right afterwards when I can’t figure out how to fit it in to my packed reading schedule.
I’ve gotten lucky a few times with Athens audible version being available at a discount. Once you download the loan, the matchmaker shows you the Audible version at the discounted price. So, I’ve jumped on owning the Audible and not stressing over my two week reading time limit on the book.
It kind of sounds like cheating, but it’s really a win win for author and reader. Obviously the reader didn’t buy the book and may never have gotten around to it if not for the loan. The loan makes it possible for the reader to buy the book in a different format. Win-Win
Nay and Bev- been doing HelloFresh for about a month. It costs about $10/per person. You get all the ingredients you need-fresh produce (except salt, pepper, oil, sugar) and the meat shipped to you on the day of your choice. You pick your meals each week from a list of about 6-7. We do 3 meals a week and it all comes packed in a cardboard box that is freezer packed. There’s no obligation and you can pause your shipments anytime. Each meal generally takes about 30 minutes. So far we’ve liked most of the meals.
Fabi, honestly I used to always loan books out to people I trusted. It’s odd not being able to do that. I’ve read books I know my niece would love, and she won’t even touch a tablet. It’s not cheating to me. It’s just loaning a book.
So far, Dearest Neighbor has me grinning.
Hey ladies…
*smacks hand repeatedly on table*
LADIES!!!!!!
Hausfrau is on sale for 1.99…did ya hear me? HAUSFRAU IS ON SALE FOR 1.99!!!!!
Don’t think. Just go click.
π
Wheeeee!! Thank you Amy!!! I just posted it, too!
Whoot!! I’m on it, Amy.
I have totally squirreled away from any planned reading or books I already started reading. I’ve been wanting to read the Alice Clayton Hudson Valley series for awhile, so I think I will continue with the squirrel and read Nuts and Cream of the Crop (on sale)next.
Tessa!!! Go look at Maryse’s new post!!!!
*blink*
bev? Is this OUR bev? Not the fake UK bev? Holy moly…I had no idea his book had a chance with you, the ultimate critiquer (in a good way, mind you).
Color me thrilled. π
THANK YOU GREY! *spins in happiness*
Tessa… Buddy read???
YEP!
You know I’ll be buying that one and reading it right away.
Oh, yep was for the BR. π
I can barely stand it! I’d love to get picked for an ARC for these… I think a reread of FC is in order! I just love Mason and Logan.
Much as I love many of KA’s books, I just can’t get into Golden Dynasty :-/ KA’s fantasy books just aren’t my thang. Yeah, I like a good barbarian (OK, who doesn’t?), but somehow this book never convinced me and I kept rolling my eyes. Sorryyyyyyy!!! It’s not like I don’t like pnr. Give me Charles from Alpha and Omega any day of the week. Or Hawke from Kiss of Snow. Both wolf shifters π But Golden Dynasty didn’t do it for me. Just sayin……….
That’s okay. Though, you might not want to read Game of Thrones. I swear, that’s a cleaner version of the Khaleesi’s romance.
Totally off topic, and not sure if I’ve posted it here before, but for those who wear glasses and have a problem with them sliding down your nose (like me)…eyeshadow primer is PERFECT for stopping that. Just pat it on your nose where your glasses sit, wait for it to get a little tacky, then put your glasses on and voila!!
Interesting tip, Amy. Thankyou. Haven’t heard that one before.
Amy, great tip. I have no idea what you look like, but did not picture glasses. I guess cause I wear them, hate them and with your pretty, made up face, (I see your face as flawless, with professionally applied make up) I didnt imagine glasses. Hee hee
However, every stereotypical book nerd needs glasses right??
That’s great, Amy. You know how hard it is to run with glasses on? I suddenly can’t breathe because my nose is being pinched. I’ll look into that.
OMG Leslie, you’re so sweet!! Trust me, if I’m not going anywhere then my face is flaw-ful. π
I wear glasses when I’m reading or at work when I know I’ll be on the computer a lot, otherwise I start to feel a strain on my eyes.
And yes ladies, it is one of those “life hacks” that REALLY does work!
I could read nearly all of these. I will never get anything done! Currently reading Aaron Harrell’s The Testimony of a Villain, it’s very dark and real but I like that sometimes. It’s well written, but not for everyone but I recommend it anyway!!
