YAY!!!! It’s Friday and the Friday Finds are up (I’ll add more throughout the day as I find them) and my weekend is here, and my coffee is ready and waiting and I. Feel. Happy! In fact, since I haven’t done a three things in the last week or so, let’s do one today. 😀
1.) I just got a new dining room set that I love. I can’t stop staring at it. It’s all set up with pretty dishes and placements on top, like in a magazine. Well… not THAT pretty, but quite pleasing indeed.
2.) My Christmas Tree is still up and I let it shine and sparkle every evening. I’m keeping it up until Three Kings Day (January 6th – supposedly it’s good luck) and then I’m taking it down.
3.) My sister is still here (one more week left of her visit as of today and then she goes home) and we’re both Keto and she’s been making us some amazing dishes!!! Yesterday we had shrimp stir fry.

Happy Friday!
I am relieved that all holiday madness over, my son’s oral surgery done (had wisdom teeth out over break) and now it’s time to focus on new year.
My tree and decorations still up…coming down this weekend.
Maryse, I love furniture! I go “window shopping” all the time at furniture stores and antique stores. I wish I had endless supply of space and money to buy everything in a bunch of styles.
Oh, but I am super bummed that my limited edition chocolate peppermint creamer is all done now. 🙁
Savoring my last few cups I have left.
Good morning!
1) I’m trying to find a book that’ll fit one of my challenges so that I can keep my reading mojo going.
2) I got my own coffee this morning! Hobbled around the kitchen getting it made and then closed the top and balanced it precariously in the kangaroo pocket of my sweatshirt as I used my walker to get back to the recliner.
3) My tree is still up too. I’ll pretend it’s for good luck (in reality it’s because I live with 4 guys who aren’t big on fooling with taking down Christmas decorations). It’s no hardship on me–I love looking at the lights!
Happy Friday, everyone!!! 🙂
Leslie–I drank my last cup of peppermint mocha on Wednesday and the last of my pumpkin spice yesterday. I hate to go back to plain old french vanilla or hazelnut. Hubs got me one called cinnamon vanilla cream and it’s meh. If I use as much as I usually use, it’s way too sweet and the cinnamon is just overwhelming. It’s much better over ice.
Leslie–glad to hear your son has gotten that over with. Did he do ok right after the surgery?
Nay, I pictured you spilling hot coffee on yourself when you were describing your “hobbling”. Thank goodness you seem to have it down to a science. 😉
My son is doing great now. The first several hours after surgery were AWFUL and scary. Good news is that he never needed any narcotics. Seriously…why are they giving kids narcotics anway???
Back to coffee…its weird how some flavors/brands of creamer are just gross. I recently tried a flavored almond milk one that I was surprised I liked. I dont like soy or coconut milk in coffee. My coffee needs to be sweet & creamy.
Good Morning and Happy Friday Everyone 🙂
Damn Maryse I should have left my tree up till than too as I need all the good luck 2019 can bring. I hope you enjoy this last week with your sister. I have three sisters and we never can seem to all get together at once and it sucks and I miss them so much!
Leslie I hope he healed good; I remember having all 4 of mine out the day after Christmas I think I was 24 or so and I didn’t have any pain, swelling or bruising. I have heard horror stories I am just glad that horror skipped me and I hope it skipped your son too. 🙂
Leslie/Nay-My step mom is addicted to the peppermint one too, she actually buys a ton of them throughout the holidays and dates them and freezes them, they are good for 4-6 months in freezer. than when you want one just take it out of freezer and thaw in fridge. So she basically has her this creamer minimum 8 years out of the month instead of just the two or so when it’s for sale.
okay I have rambled on enough
***see I rambled so much I mixed my words-of-course I mean 8 MONTHS out of the YEAR*** LOL
Jenn, I don’t know why I never think to stock up on things! *smacks self on forehead *
Maryse, I wish I was there with you & your sis in sunny Florida enjoying some healthy meals on your dining set. 🙂
okay not done…
3 things-
1-I have two take my dogs in for their rabie shots today and heart worm test. They will pretty much be down and out the rest of the day; I hate it for them but love it for me as they are already two of the biggest cuddle bugs but they really turn the cuddling on after this trauma 🙂 and I reap the rewards as all they want is there mommy.
2-this month is a big month; My birthday is the 16 and on this day marks the 10 year anniversary of when we found out my hubs had cancer and it also marks the 7 yr anniversary of him being cancer free!!!!!!!
3-I am currently finishing up “A Place Without You” Jewel E Ann-I do not think I have ever laughed so much with a book that also is ripping my heart out! I can’t wait to finish it as most all in the BR have and of course loved it!
okay now I;m done-lol 🙂
Jenn–what a great idea! Freeze it! Duh! Since hubs is doing all the grocery shopping and he has his eagle eye peeled, I’ll have him stock up if he happens across any.
lol Nay-hopefully hubs will find some. 🙂
Mmm shrimp stir fry. I’ve only made shrimp 1 time, recently (coconut shrimp) and it was awesome. I’ve always been terrified to cook seafood. I think I’ll try this sometime soon.
Nay, yay! Sounds like getting coffee is a feat and you’re killing it! Told you you were a rock chick. This is something I could totally see written in 1 of those books. 😉 😀
1. Last weekend before school starts again. I’m having mixed feelings about this.
2. I’m cleaning this weekend, and reading darnit! I got Hoopla. I’m going to try to work some kind of system out that lets me pay attention.
3. I’m still hanging on to this stupid cold. :-/
Good Morning. I think I just have vanilla creamer right now.
Nay you should get a Hydro flask for your coffee. It keeps it hot and you could stick it in your kangaroo pocket with no worries of spilling.
Happy early Birthday Jenn. Happy to hear about your husband. My dog wants to be super close all the time. Thinks she is s lap dog, but she doesn’t know how to sit in laps.
Maryse what do you and your sister do together? Read or watch tv together……
Finished Heartbreak Warfare by Kake Stewert. Great title and always the great author. I put this off for a while, just thought not a good holiday time to get a heavy, sad read. But Jumped in after. OMG. It was done as well you could get with “those” scenes, to save us some heartache and but yet get the deep emotions you needed to make the story line. A new, fresh storyline to tell a story of war. It really wakes you up to the just some of the sacrifice our service men and women give.
I agree Theresa!!!! 100% my friend!
I recently started a new series by Adriana Anders. I think it’s called the Blank Canvas series?! I’m currently reading book 2 By Her Touch and it’s pretty good so far. Book 1 is called Under Her Skin, which was good, but I’m liking book 2 better.
Good morning all!
I’m just finishing up Untouchable by Sam Mariano. It’s a great bully book. It has kept me on my toes as to what the H will do next. He’s naughty and I mean naughty, but he also has a nice side if you can just get on it.
3 things
1- just when one set of company left on New Year’s Day another set came a couple days later. Luckily it was my sister who just came for a visit. She’s lots of fun but geez, Momma needs a break! LOL
2- it’s been freeezing here in Phoenix. I hate being cold. Looks like we will warm up again next week. Yea!
3- I love this time of year because I get to set up my new calendar/planner with all my 2019 goals and schedules. I got a Happy Planner this year to try out. I think I need to get some of those cute stickers on my next outing.
Robyn, curious as to what freezing is in Arizona? I didn’t think it got very cold there. It hasn’t been as cold here as I thought it would be by now, which is nice.
Oh Jenn, that is beautiful! How wonderful for you and your husband. 😀
Three things:
1. Only two more family members to go and then I can get back to all of my routines. Love my family but between work and trying to keep everyone entertained, I’m drained.
2. I’m taking a week off in March to Spring clean, and I. Can’t. Wait!!!
3. Halfway done with A Place Without You and I’m enjoying it. Not as angsty as I thought it would be and really don’t know where it’s going, but I’m enjoying it so far.
Thank you Bev and Amy! It is awesome! And It was truly a blessing how we found out too…He had a snowmobile accident 1/16/2009 and it was from scans and x-rays for his injuries from that we found out he had kidney cancer if it had not been for that accident gah I don’t even want to know. So although he suffered from his injuries it truly was a blessing.
And Amy I love Spring Cleaning, Open all windows; blare the music and go 🙂
That’s wonderful, Jenn! I must have missed your post about hubs earlier. So glad that things have gone so well!
That’s a great idea, bev! I’ll look into those. I got my walker caddy in the mail today and it’s great because it’s got a drink pocket in it, but it doesn’t keep my coffee hot for up to 6 hours!
I’m going to have to do some major spring cleaning this year. My house is a wreck! lol
Thanks Nay xoxo-I am also glad you are doing better and getting around a little better.
Maryse, I saw on the other post you’re reading Everything You Want Me to Be. That book. *OOMPH!* I was heartsick by the end. That one paragraph I posted before…and the letter…oh, my heart.
YAYAYAYAYAYY MEEEEE AMY!!!! That’s exactly what I want to hear!!!
I. I’m listening to Bird Box on audio now and it’s FABBBBBBBBB!!!
2. I just finished The Pisces on audio and loved it too! But it’s dark satire and not for everyone. Read Book Bellas review on GR because she nails it.
3. I downloaded software that kicks me off all my favorite sites for 6 hours per day except for this itty bitty lunch hour window. So here I am! *waves*
Ohhh a BOSSY and controlling software!!! We should call it Barrons. I’m anxious to hear how you like it. 😉 LOL!
Yep Maryse, it’s one of THOSE. In fact, it was on my favorites list for 2017!
Speaking of favorites lists, I need to finish mine… *cringes*
bev’s dog will always be “Bed Hog” to me every time she mentions her. *giggle*
OMG, Jenn! Best accident ever! I mean, horrible, but thank goodness it caught something that could’ve been so tragic. Of those three, I’d pick the seven-year anniversary to celebrate the most. 🙂
1. So, I’m not supposed to eat sugar. So… of course, I bought a candy only wanting to try one and give the rest of the bag away. Ended up eating so many more. This is why I avoid sugar. I can’t eat just one! FYI, Christmas clearance, Hershey’s Bark Peppermint Bells. YUM NOT buying more. TOO TEMPTING!
2. I have pumpkin spice left. The day after Christmas, suddenly Target had some sugar free available! 😀 YAY! I bought one, regretted buying only one, went back, and they were gone. lol
3. I didn’t know Lera of Lunos was out today. That’s next. Loving the series so much.
You should make your list Amy . It looks so pretty when Maryse formats it and you can see all your books.
That link to Wikipedia still makes me happy, lol.
Jenn! What a blessing that snowmobile accident was – – definitely a celebration is due for you all!! Wow!
R. Renee…look at your discipline…of course you will not see this until tomorrow since your social media is on lockdown again. I’m impressed!
Maryse, you are making me feel better about my trees still being up. Project for the weekend…but maybe not until next weekend now so we can milk all the extra good luck 🙂
Nay, go girl! I bet you are super excited to be able to do some things for yourself!! Getting some of your independence back is huge!
Tasha, I believe you’ve probably moved from a “cold” into a sinus infection…maybe a trip to the doctor is in order girl…just saying you’ve been battling this for a while…
1. I don’t drink coffee…so this creamer discussion is amusing to me. I’m tea (hot or cold) all the time…except for water which I’m trying to drink more of…and of course except for alcohol…you know what I mean…
2. I do want to reclaim my house from the Christmas chaos this weekend….
3. I’m listening to Sadie by Courtney Summers. The book is done in a podcast format which is awesome in audio (with multiple narrators) – – it’s like listening to an actual radio show. I would classify it as a Mature YA/Mystery. I’m a little over halfway through it and am anticipating a less than happy ending…but I guess I have to finish it and see how everything wraps up. Definitely something different.
I have one of those, but it’s just my boss.
Absolutely Yes! Tessa and Michele-I don’t really celebrate my bday and really haven’t since that day….. I celebrate him….the only downside from all of this is he only has one kidney now but he is ALIVE ♥️
Michele-I drink too much coffee so I am trying to make a healthy choice in 2019 and drink more tea. I don’t add anything to my tea but coffee it’s sugar and half&half, so to rid myself of all that extra sugar trying to only do one or two cups of coffee in morning and that’s it but that is so hard for me! And I absolutely can not drink it black
LOL Bev- and yep that’s the one I got too!
Could be Michele. It takes nearly the whole day for my face not to feel so congested. But, I’m stubborn. I’ll give it another week or so. I also started Bird Box on audio not long ago, R. And I have it on kindle as well so I can volley between as necessary.
Michele G…I loved Sadie. It’s a HEAVY read but so very good. In fact, it will be on my list of favorites for 2018 because of the way it’s stuck with (and haunted) me since reading it.
I read Sadie. It didn’t stick with me as much as I hoped it would. I think because I read it right after Everything You Want me to Be and I probably shouldn’t have jumped into anything, especially that one, right after. It couldn’t be matched.
Jenn, I would celebrate him too! Accidents can be blessings in disguise.
I agree with Bev. Hydro flasks are wonderful…keeps liquids warm 6 hours or cold longer (maybe 8 hours). Great to have ice left the next day… just be careful with the hot…just about burned my mouth not realizing that it keeps it THAT hot!
My 3 things.
1. My Christmas tree and decorations are down. However, the boxes have been sitting in my living room for days waiting for the hubs to store them!
2. My kiddos are back in school…no lotto won…therefore, back to work for me.
3. It has been raining for close to two weeks straight here. I fear I am growing webbed feet! But tomorrow is the promise of wonderful sunny ☀️ skies!!!!
Someone asked on 1 of these posts what to do with Alexa. Here’s what I do- win $25,000!!!……On the game “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” of course. LOL! I’m playing again tomorrow. Also, I briefly played the Spongebob Squarepants game, before I was so rudely interrupted. Tried to have her read to me- again, interrupted. She reads books from Kindle AND makes up her own stories. Haha. I asked her if she laughed today, that was grand. I tell her to play white noise for my son (and in turn the rest of my crowded room) all night, every night. She shuffled my music and plays “baby shark” for me over and over and over. I’ve not yet synced her to order anything and I have the switch thing to get her to turn off my lights n stuff, but I’m too lazy to set it up. That’s what kids are for anyway. Also, I ask her random, silly questions every day to keep her on her toes.
Did you guys see the article about Alexa sending a recorded convo to a random contact? Any time she *thinks* she hears her name, she starts recording. If you go into your history in your phone’s app, you can listen to them. Most of them are just noise, but I found one today that was a whole conversation! You can delete them one at a time on the app or all at once on Amazon under devices.
This is especially embarrassing for writers who talk to themselves alllllll day long.
I never, ever go into the app., R. Is it in activity? If so, she doesn’t have absolutely everything in there I’ve asked her. But, there are a lot. And she totally messed some up. I’ll have to wait to listen to them tomorrow.
Now, I can spy on what my daughter says to hers also right?
Yes it shows all the commands people make, or try to make. But I think only in the app.
It was me who asked about Alexa!!! I didn’t know you could play games or that she records everything. What’s funny is if I say “electric” she thinks I said “Alexa”.
I was lying in bed in the dark listening to Bird Box and got so freaked out that I’m now sitting up in bed with all the lights on. Still listening of course. 😀
DG absolutely a blessing in disguise ❤️
You all are cracking me up with your “Alexa” stories! I have a funny, my husband got “Hey Google” so we were getting ready for a Xmas party and I hear him yelling upstairs so I go up there and he is screaming at the thing to play Metallica and he doesn’t understand why it’s not working and very calmly I tell him “ hon it’s not “Alexa” it’s “hey google”
Lol. R I’ll do that with mysteries sometimes. Nothing overtly scary but realize I am creeped out and then I dont want to move.
Happy saturday! I’m still reading A Place Without You and agree with Amy, not as angsty (at least so far) as I thought it would be and not sure how this will end.
Jenn, so happy for you and hubby. Funny how life works sometimes.
Nay, glad you’re getting around better. Just made me cringe about the hot coffee- made me think of the person at McDonalds drive-thru that got burned when placed coffee between legs. But hey they won millions of dollars in law suit! LOL. I can also relate on christmas decorations. Have taken all down, but waiting on hubby and son to take boxes to basement.
3 things:
1. Turned in my fav list but still need to catch up on everyone else’s lists.
2. Got son insta-pot for his college apt. Going to try it out today before he goes back. Anyone have a good recipe using pork chops?
3. Laughing about creamer comments as I drink my blonde flat white. I hate creamers- too sweet for me, but hubby loves all. Got him gingerbread latte. Ewww.
1. Checked 3 books out from the library. It has been forever since I’ve done that.
2. Finally figured out what to get my best friend for Christmas.
3. When did I stop being able to sleep in? Just even to 8 or 9. I love that deep sleep through the night feeling.
Three things:
1. I hate flavored creamers.
2. I went old school and read a Time Travel Romance (Eirik, by Joanna Bell). Loved it. All the old “feels”.
3. Taking tree down today. That was the fastest Christmas Season ever. No one wonder my mom stopped going all out on the decor.
Three things:
1. I’m planning to go to the library this afternoon, bev. Great minds…….
2. Yep, the Christmas tree is coming down today. I put the pretty Christmas cards in the recycle yesterday. Not so many this year. Everyone’s going electronic, but I still got a few pretty ones.
3. I’ve been reading NOTHING BUT CRs AND PNRs so far this year. OMG, what’s happening to me? I can feel a craving for HR starting to creep up on me. Ha ha ha.
Finally caught up on reading everyones favorites list. Yeh!!! Heartbreak Warfare, Binding 13 and Verity seem to be favorites that I *guess* I need to add on my tbr. Little afraid of those. Well not Binding 13. 🙂 Also realized I forgot to add Our Unscripted Story to my list. I think the cover added to my angst level. Also forgot That Guy and From Lukov With Love. LOL.
