I’m immediately drawn to her. We make an instant connection. The problem? Lady Susanna Sumner lives in London. I live in California I play professional football…”
  • My Two Husbands: A Laugh Out Loud Romantic Comedy by Amanda Aksel <— OH MY!!! THIS COULD GET WEIRD. ;) “...What happens when you live with your husband AND your ex-husband? A whole lot of trouble . . . Natalie is happily remarried to her sweet, handsome husband, Kyle. Meanwhile, her strong and sexy ex, Jake, lives in their loft over the garage. Did I mention Jake and Kyle are best friends? It’s been a harmonious arrangement . . . until now…
  • What He Doesn’t Know (What He Doesn’t Know Series Book 1) and What He Always Knew (What He Doesn’t Know Series Book 2) by Kandi Steiner <— MARITAL STRIFE LOVE TRIANGLE ALERT!! This made Leslie M cry (and she avoids high angst like the plague!!)

Leslie M: Why do I read books that I know are going to hurt and I don’t like hurting??? Most of you are crazy Marmies that like pain. But me??? Not so much.

I finished What He Doesn’t Know/What He Always Knew. It’s a marital strife/love triangle a lot of you have read. It’s a really good story and it made me cry.

  • Unbreakable by Emma Scott <— EMMA SCOTT!! ENGAGED BUT FALLS FOR ANOTHER MAN ALERT!! Leslie M also found us one that sounds right up our stressful heartbreak alley!!
Leslie M: Unbreakable by Emma Scott is a similar theme as Heartbreak Warfare. The h is engaged and falls for another man while they are held hostage in bank robbery.
  • Havoc (Devil’s Boneyard MC 3) by Harley Wylde <— LIVE!!
  • Down and Dirty (Mosh Book 2) (Mosh Series) by Susanna Rogers <— LIVE!!
  • One Day in December: A Novel by Josie Silver <— BLURB JOLT ALERT!! OMG OMG OMG I LOVE THE SOUND OF THIS ONE! Ohhhh I can already imagine the angst. Love triangle? Unrequited love? No matter what it’s going to be a ride. How did I miss this?  Summer recommends it and I thank her SO much for bringing it to our attention. She sees… her “the one” but her bus drives away from him before she can talk to him…”…one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic…and then her bus drives away. Certain they’re fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn’t find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they “reunite” at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It’s Jack, the man from the bus. It would be.

Summer: Not sure if I saw you post about One Day in December by Josie Silver but it was so good! Highly recommend!

Michele G: I finished One Day in December by Josie Silver last night… and I liked it A LOT!

Steph N: I avoided Atheists that Kneel and Pray for awhile because of the title and was I mad at myself once I read it. Such a great book.
Stacie: Maryse, I stumbled upon a book called “After” by Anna Todd it came out in 2014 it’s a college romance almost bully like kind of book i don’t know how I haven’t heard of it til now I didn’t know if anyone else has read it and loved it like me? I gave it 5 stars and it’s a series continuing with the main characters.
  • Blended with Pain: Notorious Devils (Cash Bar Book 4) by by Hayley Faiman <— LIVE!!! HE FINDS OUT HER PREGNANCY SECRET… “...His life has been one big party. No responsibilities. No relationships. No commitments.  That is, until he walks into a small diner in Texas. He recognizes her. She’s the girl from his past, and yet, she’s not–she’s all grown up.  She hides a secret that once he discovers causes rage to flow through his veins...”
  • I’ll Be the One by Hazel James <— This was on one of our BEST OF 2018 lists, and Ashley jumped in and LOVED it!
Ashley: How did I miss “I’ll be the one”??!! I started it last night and it’s sooo good! Exactly what I look for in ya/na romance! I can’t believe I missed it from 2016!
Stacie: I also read “Untouchable” by Sam Mariano it is a dark bully book I already seen recommendations for it on your page and ended up giving it 4.5 stars!!
  • The Fallback by Mariah Dietz <— LIVE!!! HE’S THE LAST PERSON SHE SHOULD BE INTERESTED IN!!! “…While trying to start anew from her best friend’s guest room and discovering the best doughnuts in the city, an idea sparks to life when she meets Levi. He’s intriguing, funny, and shockingly good-looking, and what had been a few stray thoughts becomes a new passion for Brooke, a blog detailing learning how to be single. The project introduces Brooke to new people and experiences, and keeps returning her back to Levi. But, Brooke learns kismet may have been wrong when she learns Levi is the last person she should be interested in…”

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

R: Renee …My new obsession with audio books continues. I’m now finding things to do around the house just so I’ll have an excuse to “read.” Not that there’s ever a lack of things to do. I just don’t usually do them.

  • AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <— This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!
  • Sh-t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern <— You’ll laugh so hard, you’ll have cramps!! THIS IS THE STAR OF THE SHOW TODAY & TASHA recommended it!! And a few jumped in are laughing like crazy!!! GAH!! I wanna listen too!

Leslie M: I’m doing audio of Sh*t My Dad Says and it’s cracking me up. I am literally laughing out loud.

Jenn: Leslie-I could not imagine actually reading this; I would probably DNF it but listening to it is freaking hilarious. I love his Dad! I only have 52 minutes left! So thank you for mentioning it and inadvertently thank you TASHA

Leslie M: Jenn, I was thinking the same thing!! This audio is great but not sure if humor would translate in written form. I’m almost done (37 minutes left) and my stomach hurts from laughing so much. Thanks again Tasha for mentioning it.

Jenn: Leslie-I am done and yes my stomach literally hurts from laughing so hard, it’s almost as if I did 100 situps loved it. Tasha- “The Sh*t Your Dad Says” was only my 2nd audio-book I ever completed as like you I really rather read my books than listen but this one holy hell-the one liners from his Dad through all stages of his life…..just freaking priceless.

Tasha J: I read it in written form and I laughed just as much, but I’m glad you guys are enjoying it the way I did in audio.

Amy: I’m not an audiobook person, but after Jenn’s reactions I’m thiiiiiiiis close to buying Sh!t My Dad Says to listen to. I think I could totally listen to an audiobook like that as opposed to a fiction book. Considering how hooked I am on podcasts right now, it just might work for me!

PREORDERS (going live soon!!!  :D )

Good morning! Yay it’s Friday!!! :D

Jenn January 11, 2019 at 7:58 AM

Good Morning and Happy Friday! :-)

So many on this list I want to read.but currently I am lost in Kulti and LOVING it!

Thank you Maryse and I can not wait to see your best of list!

Leslie M January 11, 2019 at 8:40 AM

Morning. :) TGIF

I need more coffee though. Good news! I found some yummy creamer on closeout yesterday. (not peppermint mocha, but pumpkin which is almost as good)

I forgot about the Kandi Steiner duet. I finished it right before Christmas and holiday madness. I wanted to mention it was audio version with great narration! I am now listening to I Suck at Girls and it seems as funny as Sh*t My Dad Says.

Tasha J January 11, 2019 at 8:48 AM

Leslie, I loved I Suck at Girls too. It’s on my 2018 fave list, even. Have you gotten to the cave scene yet? It’s the best, honestly, you’re tummy will hurt SO much!! Lol

Tasha J January 11, 2019 at 8:51 AM

I got the kindle unlimited for .99 for 3 months. I’m reading My Two Husbands now- only 179 pages so should be a quick read.

Leslie M January 11, 2019 at 9:12 AM

I did the KU thing too but when it first was offered, so mine is up in Feb. I have been enjoying the audiobooks as some come with audible version free.

Tasha J January 11, 2019 at 9:30 AM

Do you think you’ll continue your subscription? Do you use it often? I didn’t think I would, but it’s cheaper than buying 1-2 books on it right now.
Btw, My Two Husbands isn’t laugh out loud comedy. It doesn’t seem to even be written in the way of trying to be funny. Just a tangled up love triangle.

Tasha J January 11, 2019 at 9:34 AM

Oh, and I watched A Simple Favor yesterday, with Anna Kendrick, and it was really, really good. I loved it. And You last night on Netflix. I’m on episode 3 or 4 now or something. I had watched the 1st when it aired on Lifetime, but I can’t keep up with cable shows, so I waited. Loving it right now too, does the book total justice.

R. Renee January 11, 2019 at 9:41 AM

Happy Friday! Just a heads up, if you have Unbreakable by Emma Scott on your short list (and you should if you haven’t read it already) it’s about to be re-edited and re-released with a gorgeous new cover (hopefully this month) AND it’s coming out soon on audio! #cory #swoon

Grey January 11, 2019 at 9:54 AM

Morning! *Glitter bomb* So, I’ve made it to Friday. Hooray! Pray for me and my household as I attempt to do Keto weekend one at home, lol! I actually think I diet better when I’m working…something about being too busy to focus on food, idk. But actually I’m busy all the time so I should be fine!

Goodreads girls, I’ll be updating the challenge lists and maybe throwing another buddy read in this weekend too! Just to keep everyone in the loop!❤️ Happy Friday!!!

Leslie M January 11, 2019 at 10:34 AM

Tasha, no I won’t continue KU. I don’t use it enough for it to be worth it. That “You” show looks good.

Has anyone watched A Million Little Things? Someone rec’d it to me and I binged them. It’s good but depressing. I’m so glad I’m finally getting back into some TV. I cant wait til This Is Us next week.

I hate that I am only one on planet that didn’t love Kulti. :(

So excited for audio of Unbreakable. I rec’d that book since everyone went crazy for Heartbreak Warfare and it had same theme (just not as violent).

Grey, don’t you have a big family? How are you able to do keto? There is no way a restrictive diet like that would be practical in my house.

Maryse January 11, 2019 at 10:45 AM

My sister just left to go back home today… it’s going to be so quiet in my house.

As of today, the “Holidays” are officially over.

YAY Grey on KETO!! My sister and I are both Keto and we ate like Royalty the whole time she was here (she cooks awesome – and no bad carbs). Lots of veggies too, though! I’ve never eaten as healthy as I do now, and I always used to think I was a healthy eater.

Maryse January 11, 2019 at 10:46 AM

I want to read Unbreakable. I don’t know how I missed that one??

Maryse January 11, 2019 at 10:47 AM

I LOVED “You”. My sister and I binge watched it.

Where can I watch “A Simple Favor”?

Maryse January 11, 2019 at 10:48 AM

And thanks for the heads-up Tasha about it not being funny. That’s so weird that it would be titled that way.

R. Renee January 11, 2019 at 10:48 AM

You would love it Maryse! You probably missed it because it was her second release right before RUSH.

Jenn January 11, 2019 at 11:02 AM

Don’t feel bad Maryse I missed UNBREAKABLE too of course I seem to miss a lot so IDK I need to get on that one too. :-)

R. Should I wait for it to re-released? I know you’ve talked about Cory before and I guess I never put it together when we were all reading the Bring Down The Stars Duet and you said that Wes was right up there with Cory…I guess I had a DUH moment as you more than likely even mentioned the book then.

Leslie-I could never do KETO either not because of big family as it is just my hubs and I and my furbabies….I just can’t as I like too many things that would be forbidden on that. I just faithfully do everything in moderation (except wine….lol) and that seems to work for me. :-)

In regards to shows I have been binge watching LUCIFER with my hubs-it is odd….like very odd for him and I to like same show but this one I love!

Jenn January 11, 2019 at 11:06 AM

Leslie-Don’t feel bad that you didn’t like KULTI, I started The Wall of Winnipeg another huge favorite on here end of last year and I put it to the side for now. I struggled with the h in that one. It may have been just the whole holiday time and being busy as to why I couldn’t get into it. IDK So I am going to at a later date try to finish it.

R. Renee January 11, 2019 at 11:11 AM

Jenn, it will be exactly the same book, just a little cleaner and tighter with a pretty new cover. If you’re ready to read it now, go for it. Otherwise, wait for the shiny new one. And OMG Cory. You’ll hardcore swoon over that boy. And…he’s a single dad! I’ll post the release date as soon as I have it.

Michele G January 11, 2019 at 11:15 AM

Jenn, I loved Lucifer. Of course, I also loved The Wall of Winnipeg…so retry it at another time.
Leslie…A Million Little Things is one of my fave shows right now and shockingly…my hubby watches with me. That’s extremely rare.

Michele G January 11, 2019 at 11:37 AM

Ok, for everyone who has read The Fish Tales by Suanne Laqueur…I put off reading the final book Here to Stay) for a while…like it’s probably been at least 1 1/2 yrs since I read the first two. My poor little heart couldn’t take anymore…I’ve loved it all the way up to about the 75-80% point….tell me they will eventually get some happiness people!! I’m dying here!! I love her writing and we all know I’m a total masochist with the books I read….but I literally had to stop listening to it at work today because I can’t do it…it’s too much. For me to say that is bad…of course it is dealing with a big trigger for me…so there ya go. Anyway…I’m just looking for reassurance to continue on for an HEA….anyone??

Michele G January 11, 2019 at 11:39 AM

Ugh…I have a typo up there…I hate when that happens and I can’t correct it. That’s so going to bug me now!!

Also, thanks for the great list Maryse. You have some definite goodies up there!!

Also, I want to read Unbreakable too! It’s on my short list!

R. Renee January 11, 2019 at 11:44 AM

Finish it, Michele! ❤️

Michele G January 11, 2019 at 12:17 PM

R., you know I will but I think I should probs wait until I leave work.

R. Renee January 11, 2019 at 12:27 PM

Nah! Just take pics! :D

Tasha J January 11, 2019 at 12:52 PM

YES! More Lucifer fans! I just finished Lucifer and I’m so sad it’s over. But, I stalked some actors’ Instagram pages and it’s possible the new season airs in April. They have definitely finished filming.

Tasha J January 11, 2019 at 12:59 PM

A Simple Favor, also starting Blake Lively (just now remembered her name and I love her too) I rented on prime video. It’s a thriller and I was pleasantly surprised. Anna Kendrick’s character was also a little funny, but not like a comedy.

Theresa silverberg January 11, 2019 at 1:05 PM

Just finished Meghan March Anti- Hero trilogy. First was Savage Prince. Got bad reviews because it started with a sex scene. And people got turned off because they thought no plot. They were wrong. It has a very developed plot involving Mount (previous series) and plot that twists until you can’t figure out who is guys and who is bad.

Janie January 11, 2019 at 1:06 PM

Happy Friday everyone!! I’ve commented a few times but I’m fairly new here and to the romance genre…gasp, I know lol! I’m always looking for new recommendations, so thanks Maryse for always providing :)

I want to check out “What He Doesn’t Know” from this list… sounds very intriguing!

I also need a new TV show to watch. I’ve tried watching Lucifer and haven’t seen (or read) YOU yet. I’ve been stuck in a TV rut since finishing Vikings….

Also, I have a weird thing to get recommendations for and it’s not book related, but does anyone have a favorite drugstore shampoo/conditioner? I desperately need something better lol

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Tessa January 11, 2019 at 1:35 PM

Alright, last night I finished Amelia Hutchins Becoming his Monster and OMG, WTF? Where is the end? I thought it was a trilogy! *bangs head* Still, it’s a good thing it didn’t end because there were so many questions. I was at 85% and looking at the thing like huh? How is this gonna be wrapped up that quickly. Now… I know. lol

That said, OMG. It was good but my heart hurt so badly so many times. It wasn’t a happy book, but the action and the character development, superb. Also, we know what happened in the end of the last one! YAY!

Tasha J January 11, 2019 at 2:53 PM

Ok, so yes. My Two Husbands has no comedy what so ever. It’s an angsty love triangle and does have a trigger for some. I did want to see who she ended up with and was surprised.

Grey January 11, 2019 at 3:17 PM

Tessa…what? No. I am not. Why? Ugh. *Bangs head. Grabs blankie*

Robyn January 11, 2019 at 4:05 PM

I’m halfway through The Wicked King by Holly Black and enjoying it immensely! I got to 46% and Wowza! I knew this would happen eventually, but not this soon….those naughty kids! Hehe I don’t want this book to end, so I am reading and savoring every drop of goodness.

Jan January 11, 2019 at 5:16 PM

I grabbed the KU subscription special a few weeks ago, and I’m pleasantly surprised by how many authors I wtr are on there. I’ve had a binge on RS Grey, and have also read a few others. At the moment I’m thinking I’ll keep my subscription when it runs out, cos for me it looks like it’s going to be good value. I LOVE just trying a book and thinking, OK, it’s free, I’ll just keep going. But if I have to pay full price, so often if I’m a bit doubtful, I just think, maybe no.

So glad you’re enjoying Kulti, Jenn. Maybe one day you’ll go back to WoW too. But that slow burn style isn’t for everyone, and yeah, I understand where you’re coming from Leslie.

Steph N January 11, 2019 at 7:27 PM

I’ve had KU for awhile. I think I get my monies worth and am surprised with some GOOD books that I’ve read through it.

I just started OUTLANDER! I never read the books. I’ve read no spoilers, have no idea what may happen. A blog I read was saying that her and her hubby watched it but couldn’t handle the sex and violence and I was like “sounds right up my alley!” lol I got a deal on Cyber Mondey, hula for .99 a month for 12 months and Starz for 4.99 for 3. Pushed me over the edge!

I have SO MANY books I want to read right now. I’ve just had three come off hold at the library that are more contemporary lit that were on other best of ’18 lists plus all the amazing sounding best lists here!!

I finished Exhalation of Larks and oh m gee. 5 stars. Is the Finch one just as good? It’s gonna have to wait but wondering!

Happy weekend everyone!

Cheryl January 11, 2019 at 7:33 PM

R. that answered my questions re: Unbreakable. Think I’m going to wait for the newly edited version. ;)

I have KU and for me it is worth it. Since I started I have only been reading KU books and Jan’s right, there are a lot of KU books. I average 10-14 books/month which would cost $3-5 each which is a lot more than the my original $9.99/month. I just signed up for the 1 year special, which ends up being around $6.50/ month. My only complaint is you have to be pretty diligent about adding the KU book to your GR account, because once you return it, it’s gone from your Kindle, as is any record of you reading it. Wish when you returned it to Amazon, there was a check off- if read it/date or DNF.

Now to decide on my drink for tonight. Old Fashioned, Baileys, something Vodka…

Leslie M January 11, 2019 at 9:16 PM

Ugh! I just typed out long comment and it disappeared.

*stomps foot*

Nay January 11, 2019 at 9:19 PM

I missed peeking in this morning before I went to the doctor, so Happy Friday and Happy Weekend! I forgot to mention that I went to my orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday and they took out my 45 stitches (NOT fun) and said I’m ahead of the game with bending and straightening my leg and putting a bit of weight on it, so YAY!

So leg is healing and I’m out of my reading slump–life is great! I’ve just started Skin by B.B Easton. I must have been living under a rock, because I just recently discovered this series and the accompanying 44 Chapters About 4 Men, and now I’m looking forward to some edgy reading!

Leslie M January 11, 2019 at 9:21 PM

Anyway…Hi Janie!

I just started watching tv again recently but I like God Friended Me (feel good), Manifest (sci fi mystery) and A Million Little Things (drama).

I have to use salon shampoo on my over processed hair.

Leslie M January 11, 2019 at 9:23 PM

Amy, can you whip up a drink for Cheryl? While you are at it, I’ll have what she’s having.

R. Renee January 11, 2019 at 9:27 PM

I’m having cabernet in my Josh Duhamel wine glass! Want some?

Nay January 11, 2019 at 9:30 PM

Cheryl–you can look up all your past and present KU books on Amazon. Just go to the dropdown menu under “Accounts & Lists” at the top of most any Amazon page and under “Your Account” you’ll see “Your Content & Devices” (kinda toward the bottom of the dropdown list). Click on that, and all of your book purchases will come up. Go to the top left where it says “Show” and then “Books” in a box with some arrows. Click on those arrows and it’ll give you a drop down menu. Toward the bottom of it, you’ll see “Kindle Unlimited”. Click on that and you see your currently checked out KU books. So then click on the arrows in the “All” box, and you’ll get another drop down menu. Click on “Returned” and it’ll show you every KU book you’ve checked out, along with the dates. Then those can be sorted by the box to the right of that.

Hope that makes sense!

Leslie M January 11, 2019 at 9:31 PM

Josh Duhamel wine glass?!?

Speaking of…how freaking handsome was he in the Simon movie?

Nay January 11, 2019 at 9:39 PM

Steph–I LURVE Outlander! (obviously). I haven’t watched the current season yet because I’m waiting to binge watch, and I’m looking SO forward to it!

Janie–after seeing the supposedly ‘cleaner’ shampoos that don’t lather, like Wen, I wanted to try them. But I wasn’t going to pay Wen prices, so I looked at WalMart and found Renpure Solutions Rosemary Mint Cleansing Conditioner (which is called ‘conditioner’ but is actually meant to be used as a non-lathering shampoo). I’ve used it for a couple of years and I love it! I no longer have to use both shampoo and conditioner and I love the smell!

R. Renee January 11, 2019 at 9:44 PM

So handsome Leslie! And crazily enough I have 2 Josh Duhamel wine glasses! I love it because I’m kind of clumsy! I’ll email you a pic!

bev January 11, 2019 at 10:13 PM

Did you watch Simon? But did you read the book?

Did I overlook this somehow?

bev January 11, 2019 at 10:15 PM

Janie, how do you feel about subtitles?

Leslie M January 11, 2019 at 10:16 PM

Sorry Bev, I should have notified you of my Simon activities. ;)

I started book but never finished. I recently watched the movie and thought it was great!

Janie January 11, 2019 at 11:18 PM

Hi Leslie, thank you for the recommendations!

Nay, the idea of that Renpure sounds amazing, I may need to try this. I hate having to both wash and condition lol.

Hi Bev, I’ve never actually watched anything subtitled, but I’m not opposed!

Northernstar January 12, 2019 at 11:10 AM

Hi everyone

I am really enjoying everyone’s top 2018 read and my TBR list now overflowing.
One of my last top reads of 2018 was Untouchable by Sam Marino. The first 10% was a tough read but after that I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed the push and pull of the two main characters and by the end I believed in their story. That’s all I’ll say about that one…

Happy New Year to all!

R. Renee January 12, 2019 at 11:24 AM

One of the best things about 2018 for me was FINALLY jumping on the E-Library bandwagon. For any of you who haven’t yet, do it! And this wiki list was shared by one of my mermaids last night in my FB group. It’s a WORLDWIDE list! And there are some libraries that don’t even require you to be a resident!

Tessa January 12, 2019 at 12:10 PM

CHERYL! Link your amazon and goodread accounts. Then, when you end your book, it automatically registers when you finished it and how you rated it.

bev January 12, 2019 at 12:14 PM

There is a blog I read occasionally and they posted yesterday that the blog is going on hiatus and comments closed.

My first thought is what would we do if Maryse did this?

Maryse January 12, 2019 at 1:52 PM

HECK NO!!!!!

No way! My blog and you guys are my happiness!!!!! This is my relief from stress and worries, and I LOVE it here. And I love that YOU guys are here with me, and with each other.

Maryse January 12, 2019 at 2:57 PM

Northernstar!!! YAY! I’m glad you’re here and thank you for that recommendation. :D !! It’s being mentioned so often, I know I need to read it.

Jan January 12, 2019 at 5:11 PM

Eeep! Don’t scare us, bev. Heck to the no! *hugs Maryse*

bev January 12, 2019 at 5:24 PM

It is scary.

Cheryl January 12, 2019 at 5:33 PM

Nay, —–>”Click on “Returned” and it’ll show you every KU book you’ve checked out, along with the dates. Then those can be sorted by the box to the right of that.”
I’m not sure what you mean by box to the right. I know KU keeps record of books I have borrowed and returned, but sometimes I return them without reading them at all or DNF. Happy your leg is improving!!

Tessa, does that work for KU too? I’m not sure I have them linked as I’ve had to manually add what currently reading and what have read.

Cheryl January 12, 2019 at 5:58 PM

I also mainly read on my laptop if that makes a difference as far as linking my accounts. I know when I use my Kindle and start a book a screen comes up allowing me to click on currently reading and read when finished.

Nay January 12, 2019 at 6:02 PM

Cheryl–I wish I could show you a pic! lol If you see that dropdown box, you’ll see that one of the options to click on is ‘returned’ (borrowed KU books that have been returned). But I see what you’re saying–it doesn’t tell you if you’ve DNF’d it. However, what we’ve done for hubs several times when he can’t remember if he enjoyed a book is check out the book again and open it. If it opens at anywhere less than 100%, he knows that he tried to read it and gave up early.

Cheryl January 12, 2019 at 6:12 PM

Thanks Nay. I do have Amazon and GR linked, but I’m not sure it works for KU books since technically they are not a purchase and if it has anything to do with reading on my laptop versus an actual Kindle on app on my phone.

Tessa January 12, 2019 at 6:14 PM

Cheryl, I’ve not tried it on a laptop. It’s harder for me to read on a laptop because of the glare. I use my Kindle or my phone if my kindle is almost dead. Usually the result of reading at night with a low battery and forgetting to plug it in. lol

Cheryl January 12, 2019 at 6:22 PM

Thanks Tessa. :)

Grey January 12, 2019 at 6:51 PM

Saturday night blog party? LOL!

Grey January 12, 2019 at 6:52 PM

I posted earlier but my post isn’t here…boo…

Cheryl January 12, 2019 at 8:36 PM

Grey, let’s party!!! just made myself an Old Fashioned and TRYING to find a book to read. Have clicked on several samples, but nothing interests me, yet!

Leslie M January 13, 2019 at 9:05 AM

I have the day to myself as hubs/son went to Pat’s game. What to do…

Maryse January 13, 2019 at 10:31 AM

Oh I know!!! READ!!! :D And throw something creamy and cheesy into the crockpot for supper. ;)

Leslie M January 13, 2019 at 10:46 AM

Maryse, something creamy & cheesey sounds delish. I was actually thinking about making soup as it’s freezing here.

For reading, I’m a little crabby. I’ve had two recent DNFs and I dont want to start out the year slump-y.

Tasha J January 13, 2019 at 11:22 AM

Ok, Leslie. Did you read Vain yet, by Fisher Amelie?

bev January 13, 2019 at 12:13 PM

Leslie (totally said that in a sing song voice)

You know what you could try….right?

Leslie M January 13, 2019 at 1:34 PM

I have not read Vain yet and its been on my TBR since the dawn of time! I will get to it, but right now I’m sticking with audiobooks…which limits me to what’s on hoopla, overdrive, and KU with free narration. I started a KU one with a hot cop. Running into Love by Aurora Rose Reynolds.

Bev, you make me giggle.

bev January 13, 2019 at 2:14 PM

I just think that all you CR lovers would really like it. Plus, dramas are very complementary to books. It might jump start you out of your slump……

Tasha J January 13, 2019 at 2:52 PM

I’m trying to meal plan a little for the grocery. What’s for dinner? Nothing is sounding good to me.

Maryse January 13, 2019 at 4:38 PM

I made a green bean casserole (with the canned mushroom soup and all) egg frittata in the crock pot. ;) It’s exceptionally cheesy (and I added mushrooms, and broccoli and cream cheese).

HEARTY and rich for sure!!

Maryse January 13, 2019 at 4:38 PM

Oh!! And bacon!!!

Tasha J January 13, 2019 at 7:22 PM

I googled egg frittata, it looks like quiche? So did you have that and green bean casserole? Sounds yummy!

Jan January 13, 2019 at 7:30 PM

Sounds tasty, Maryse! And hey, you can’t have too much cream cheese, anyway. Or bacon. ;)

Maryse January 13, 2019 at 8:15 PM

IT IS quiche in a way… what I did was stir green bean casserole INTO the eggs and extra ingredients (cream cheese, bacon) all of it…

then set the slow cooker to low for 3 hrs… and BOOM. Green bean casserole quiche! Frittata. ;)

Tasha J January 13, 2019 at 8:24 PM

That’s something I’d never think to do, sounds tasty though! I, sadly, had McDs. And, I didn’t even eat it. Just drank my mango pineapple smoothie. I’m just so thirsty for some reason.

I keep buying books, starting books, adding books to my tbr, and inevitably watching tv. Gossip Girl is my latest addiction.

bev January 13, 2019 at 8:26 PM

Fight My Way has bacon in it. It’s very keto friendly.

Amy January 13, 2019 at 8:41 PM

Oh dangit, I’m late as usual and missed Leslie’s request for a drink for Cheryl! Looks like she found one despite my radio silence. ;) Well, I can whip up something right now if you ladies are game. I know it’s Sunday and most of us have to work tomorrow, but what’s a drink or three gonna matter? FIREFLY MARTINIS ALL AROUND!!

I’m currently working through the 2018 favorites lists, and I’m really enjoying them! I’m seeing some I remember wanting to read but forgot about, and I love that the lists are jogging my memory.

And I swear my heart fell into my stomach when I saw bev’s comment about what we would do if Maryse shut down the blog. Oh man, that was an ugly feeling. :?

Amy January 13, 2019 at 8:46 PM

Hi Janie!

To answer your question, the drugstore brand of shampoo I have liked is Schwarzkopf. I usually use Redkin but forgot my shampoo and conditioner on a short trip recently, so I ran into Target and grabbed some of the Schwarzkopf brand. I was SO happy with it, and it smells really nice. I actually have been alternating it with my Redkin stuff and will probably continue to do so. Hope that helps!

Leslie M January 13, 2019 at 8:53 PM

Yum! I love frittatas, quiche and anything egg-y.

Amy, I got a stomachache too thinking of Maryse ditching us. If she tries, we will hunt her down and shove a laptop in her face. ;)

bev January 13, 2019 at 8:59 PM

bev scaring people since 2019.
It was a blog that people talked on in the comments almost every day….and just gone.

Know what scares me? Amy’s list of tears.
Marmies scaring bev and Leslie since 2013.

Amy January 13, 2019 at 9:09 PM

bev…making us laugh our a$$es off since 2013 <—— figuratively, obviously, since my a$$ would be a lot smaller if I could actually laugh it off.

Grey January 14, 2019 at 6:37 AM

Just another Marmie Monday…*giggle* *tosses glitter*

Leslie M January 14, 2019 at 7:35 AM

I would be so lonely without you guys! Who else is going to make me spit out my coffee in laughter every a.m???

Janie January 14, 2019 at 6:35 PM
