- The House by Christina Lauren <— HAUNTED HOUSE OBSESSED ALERT!! Nancy has had this one for awhile and just read it and 4.5 STAR LOVED it! P.S. Here’s my review too!
Nancy: The House was one of those books, I keep thinking about. I had written so much about it, that I turned it into a review (spoiler free). THE HOUSE by Christina Lauren was on a recommendation list recently. So I looked it up and surprisingly enough, I had bought back in August 2017. But I had yet to read the book.
I started reading that night. It should come with warnings: “Don’t read it at home while alone. Or at night. In the Dark. Or at all, if you scare easily!”
I figured I was safe with my husband right next to me. I got into the book, when I came to a part that was like you scream at the girl, “Don’t go down in the basement!” Or in this book, “Don’t go anywhere in that house or near that house!” Especially not alone! You know they never, ever listen.
The girl & I both survived. My husband was right next to me. But I was about 40% in & the next night my husband was out of town. Hubby had to go, leaving me home alone. That night when I returned to reading the book, I was going to be doing it all alone.
I finished reading THE HOUSE late last night. This is a strange book. But I am one who needs their sleep. So if a book is so good that I stay up till I finish, than that is telling something! I would give it a 4.5* rating.
I consider this one of your recommendations since it was your review that made me want to read it. It just took me a few years to “remember” I wanted to read it! A senior moment or a senior few years! lol
- The Indigo Girl: A Novel by Natasha Boyd <— NATASHA BOYD SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!! And Kat found it for us! 😀
Jan: I’m intrigued by The Indigo Girl. Wonder whether it would have enough romance in it for me. I might check it out anyway.
Jessica: I absolutely loved INDIGO GIRL. I go to Charleston often, and it was *such* a fascinating look into the city’s history. Love love loved it…smart, romantic, and wrenching all at once. Highly recommend!
Kat: On sale

Kristen Ashley’s Fast Lane is on sale for .99. I haven’t heard anything about as far as reviews but thought I would take a chance on it.
So sad to say that the old KA rocked, but I just can’t get into any of her new books. Maybe the publisher killed her indie mojo.
Me too, Michelle. Ever since she did that Honey series, (which just wasn’t for me) I’ve never been able to get into her books as much as I used to. I think it’s a bit of my books taste changing too though maybe? I do want to try Fast Lane though. It’s on Mount TBR. Keeping an open mind.
I think it is a mix for me. A mix of her style not changing and my taste changing.
I devoured her early works and hold affection for them, but sometimes (even with some of them) I wanted the hero to concede a bit. Or a lot. It started driving me nuts how often the heroine would have a good point or just be trying to say, hey this is important to me and the hero would talk or walk right over her but it was ok because he is hot, kissed her, and then called her babe. And you know it is ok for her to be have some attitude because she has hair, legs, and a butt.
Now this is making me ranting all of a sudden.
I wanna read it too. let us know what you think. i hope it’s not too long. sometimes she just writes and writes and writes….lol….
I loved K.A. early stuff but admit I haven’t read any of her new books. I feel like the characters are always so similar.
I think I will try Silver Player. I like books with older MCs who have some life experience.
Me too! And some sordid history, a man with a reputation… yup… sounds right up my alley.
Half way through Forever Crew and am enjoying it. Sometimes she’s a bit too “teen rebel” but for the most part, really good.
Finished from Tuesday, Fated Wings by Tessa Cole. Gah, need book 4 NOW!
Eep. Crescent City comes out next week? That’s a buy on hold then.
Crescent City must be a typo, it’s for preorder for March. I got so excited when I saw that, lol.
Thank goodness! lol I’ll be able to get it in March. 🙂
TGIF! Ugh you know when you get a four day week and you think it’s going to fly by? And then it creeps along…. that’s my week
I’m reading an oldie but goodie right now. I thought I’d finished the series, but could NOT remember how it ended. Turns out I never did finish it. So I’m in an old happy place. The Jolie Wilkins series, by HP Mallory. Anyone else read it? Witches & warlocks and vampires and Fae! Rand and Sinjin Sinclair are beyond yummy.
Feeling nostalgic and loving my old book feels.
Omg I was obsessed with these books! I read them all on way back in 2013!! Enjoy. 😊 I even still think of Bram. <—-This is what I wrote before I realized you said Jolie Wilkins and I’m talking about Dulcie O’Neil. 🤦🏼♀️ Is it like Dulcie’s series? Should I read it too?
I read it back then too! I loved Dulcie O’Neil, but loved Jollie Wilkins a little bit more. Like I said…. Rand… and Sinjin…. sigh… so good
I’m reading (well, listening to) The Girl he Used to Know and I’m nervous. I KNOW something is coming but I have no idea what. I started reading Maryse’s review then stopped where it says “go in blind”.
*bites nails nervously*
P.S. The male narrators voice is slightly annoying but not enough to ruin story.
Loved this! For sure go in blind. You won’t regret it!
Finished the kiss thief by LJ shen this week and LOVED IT! 5 stars for me. Over the weekend I read and finished both books in BB Eastons new series. Praying for rain. I’m loving them! Super easy and fast read. The third book comes out January 30th. I’m not sure what to read next. I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve never read anything by Aly Martinez and I’m thinking about starting release.
I loved The Kiss Thief. I really like a bunch of her books, actually.
OMG, The Forever Crew is out??? Yayyyy! This excites me.
Why do I not have room for it on my KU? Does this happen to anyone else? How do I already have 10 books on my KU subscription… I mean…shifty eyes… I totally am reading ten books at once… Oops.
I always have ten, then have to chew my nails deciding which one to return to get the newest shiny. First world problems.
Ha ha ha. Been there, done that.
Hey,
I am searching for a book. The story starts with the girl attending her mother’s funeral. Then she goes to live with her half-brother (who was given up for adoption) and his best friend. The best friend is a chemistry teacher at the school she enrolls.
And they kinda start falling for each other.
*Spoilers*
1. The half brother is bisexual and in love with his best friend.
2. The best friend gets shot because of the girl.
Hi Lily!!
I’ll post your question this Thursday and hopefully we’ll find it!! 🙂
Thank you. 😊
Hi Lily!!
