I also read two other books that I enjoyed and read each in one day: Every Other Weekend by Jaxson Kidman and Pricked by Winter Renshaw.
Loved Irresistible by Melanie Harlow!! Love her writing. What to read next??? Side eyeing Jewel E Ann’s new one!! Happy anniversary Maryse!
Did you guys see – Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid is the March Pick for Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine bookclub!? AND they’re turning it into a TV show!! :O :O
I missed the celebration yesterday soooo…
HAPPY BELATED BLOG BIRTHDAY!!!! 😀 I love this place, and I love the friends I’ve met here, and we love YOU, Maryse!
I just clicked The Gift of You because how could I not?? I don’t read nonfiction (it just doesn’t hold my interest), but this will be the exception. Add to that I’m going to watch A Star is Born with hubby this weekend. Obviously I’m in need of some emotional pressure release. 😉
I’m also really excited to read the new Jewel E Ann but I’ve just started an arc of RS Grey’s Make Me Bad and one chapter in and it’s soo good. Eeeee, so many good books!! NOT ENOUGH TIME!!!
I’ve had Sex Love Repeat on my kindle for years… got to bump that up the list. The new cover is gorgeous. Loving that colour scheme.
Tasha…some makeup recs for you!
Obviously there are always new products flooding the market, but I’m going to recommend some which are “staples” for me and which I use at least 50% of the time when I do my makeup. Which is any time I leave the house. I think these will work well for you with your blue eyes and with what you described you’re looking for.
The brands I’m recommending are mid range as far as price, but I am recommending them because Sephora and Ulta have a return policy so if they don’t work you can always take them back.
Eye shadow primer: Always, always, ALWAYS use eyeshadow primer. It gives you a smooth, even, unblemished base for your shadow, and your eye makeup will look freshly applied all day. I have used Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion for years and swear by it. You apply a thin layer (which will feel a bit tacky at first) then wait a few minutes for it to feel “dry” and ready to apply your shadow.
For neutral/taupey looks: Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2 Basics, Naked 2 full-size palette, and Tarte Tartelette In Bloom palette (there are some frosty ones in there but I just avoid them…aging sucks *hmph*). All of those are buildable so you can start light if you want and then build to deeper color.
Brows: Don’t neglect your brows! Even if you don’t want to go all out with your brows, you should at a minimum fill them in and shape them a bit. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz is perfect for this. Brows complete your look similarly to how mascara does…if you’re going to go to the trouble of applying eye makeup, take an extra few minutes for your brows and lashes otherwise the look won’t be complete. Speaking of lashes…
Mascara: Too Faced Better Than Sex is my go-to the majority of the time and is not too pricey. If you want to spend a little more, my other favorite is Yves Saint Laurent Effet Faux Cils (thanks to a rec from Maryse a while back!). I use that one almost as often as the Better Than Sex mascara.
Cheeks: I’m not sure how bright or dark you want to go, but MAC’s blush in Buff is GORGEOUS and can be applied lightly or built up to a deeper shade.
Lips: MAC Pillow Talk is unfortunately discontinued but can be found on eBay. It has been a staple for me for YEARS, and I stocked up when I found out it was going to be dc’d. It is a perfectly neutral-pink and deliciously creamy. I’ve also been using MAC Creme In Your Coffee lately, and it’s a nice shade as well. If you’re feeling adventurous and don’t mind mixing lip colors, try mixing MAC Fresh Brew with Lustering (trust me, it works) or with any other bright or dark lipstick to find a shade you like. Fresh Brew is magic in toning down and changing colors you might never otherwise wear. Visit a MAC store or Nordstrom MAC counter and swatch away! Also, if you don’t mind a matte feel, MAC Velvet Teddy is beautiful. OH! And another favorite of mine which I wear almost daily for work because it lasts is Tarte Lippie Lingerie matte tint in Exposed (and sometimes Whisper).
Whew! I think that about covers what you were looking for. Hope it all helps! 😀
One more rec. Just hear me out on this one…try some eye color in pink/mauve colors. Trust me! The pinkish colors in Tarte’s Tartelette palette (not the In Bloom palette) are to DIE for. They are beautiful when applied, and I get so many compliments on my eyes when I wear it because of how it brings out the green in my eyes. Imagine what it can do for blue eyes!
I read the mix lipstick part and grinned. I do that all the time. 🙂

4. Book you’ve probably rec’d the most? Written in Red. Has to be, lol.
5. Book you read because of a Maryse rec? Hmm. So many. I particularly remember SoT, Slammed, Sempre, and Painted Faces.
6. Have your reading taste changed since you first started visiting the blog? Yes. I really got into NA and CR. Prior to this I’d been in a PNR & UF phase. Weren’t we all? I will always love an alpha hero but ……I’m not sure if some of the ones I loved then would still appeal. *shrug*
7. What’s a rec you still want Maryse and others to read?
To Tell the Truth Shame the Devil.

9. Its Friday link an upbeat song….

https://youtu.be/1ZRb1we80kM
10. If we met what would you want us to do together?
Go to a kpop concert. Big Bang or SHINee when they all get out of the military in a few years…cause it’s all about me, lol.
Holy cow, Amy. That is SO much more than what I thought you’d have for me. I can’t believe u threw in brows too! I’m gonna look into all of these ASAP!! Thank you so much. You saved me so much time and effort. 😀
So many colors! I have so many internet searches overwhelming my phone right now. They’re screaming “take my money!” Lol! Question- for the pink eyeshadows, are you sure it’s not the Tartelette toasted eyeshadow? There seems to be a lot of pink in that one. I like the Tarte though. And I like the naked colors. These are going to be hard to choose from. I’ve never had a palette before. It can last me the next decade and then some, probably!
I’ve never heard of primer for the eyes….now I must get that Bc I hate when it gets all melty. Also, do you ever use shadow for your liner? I probably shouldn’t get that brave.
I love the idea of that little brow wand. It seems it should be easy…if u knew what u were doing and I don’t. I won’t even tweeze anymore. There isn’t much to mine as it is. I’m not sure I can manage the brows (they scare me). But, I’ll keep it in my pocket, in case.
Mascara. I hate buying mascara. I use it once or twice a year and throw it away and buy a new one every time the occasion arises to use it so I try to just get something cheap. If I ever decide to wear it more regularly, I will keep this one in my pocket too. Because mascara also overwhelms me.
And I love the tarte lip colors! That’s just what I was looking for. All of it, it’s like you read my mind on the colors and worked it all out for me. I don’t have a Nordstrom close enough that I wanna venture to to try the Macs, but they look gorgeous! Again, thank you for putting the thought and work into all that for me. You’re the best!!
Spring is right around the corner. I just saw these posted and I need one!! https://shop.forreadingaddicts.co.uk/collections/dresses

6. Have your reading taste changed since you first started visiting the blog? Yes. I read more fiction and thrillers now, but I still enjoy a love interest in them. But, I do still read a little out of each genre and enjoy those “old school” reads.
7. What’s a rec you still want Maryse and others to read? Darynda Jones Charley Davidson series
8. Do you think she will like it? I’m not sure…maybe after she read a couple she’d be more invested. I mean, it is Reyes Farrow.
9. Its Friday link an upbeat song….Ok, I never listened to this growing up, I was a country fan. But, I know how everyone would sing the lyrics and what not, and I’m sure I heard the chorus here and there, so this was in my head this morning and I played it for the gang to pep up and get their groove on. LOL https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NHozn0YXAeE
10. If we met what would you want us to do together? We’d all meet at Maryse’s and she’d make us a fabulous meal, and we’d drink some fruity cocktail with macarons for dessert, and we’d talk and rave about how weird it is to be meeting in real life and then go to the beach! And maybe some little island shopps for fun. And then at night, we’d finally have our sleepover and wrap ourselves in blankets with flashlights, talk books and tell spooky stories and watch super creepy movies courtesy of Maryse. Then, someone (who’s the rowdy one of the bunch?) would play a dirty prank and creep around outside scaring the living daylights out of us.

9. Its Friday link an upbeat song…. This one that I’ll be jamming to live tonight! https://youtu.be/M7XRN0oHGIM

2. First buddy read on the blog? I am not really sure on this one
3. Moment that made you laugh the most? There are so many “Bev moments” but since I can’t think of one specifically I am going to say the “Bum Bum Cream-I still laugh about this as I did not know it was actually real. 🙂
4. Book you’ve probably rec’d the most?-Of all time is THE SEA OF TRANQUILITY, however most recently The Beautiful Hearts Duet by Emma Scott.
5. Book you read because of a Maryse rec?-I’ll say Beautiful Disaster but there are so many!
6. Have your reading taste changed since you first started visiting the blog?Absolutely never would have read a paranormal book if it wasn’t for this blog. I don’t read them constantly but every once and awhile I crave this genre.
7. What’s a rec you still want Maryse and others to read? I am going to go with Rock & Roll Never Forgets by Barbara S Stewart. I read this in 2013 and I think I either emailed Maryse about it or maybe posted in the blog. This is the book where the last 30% it was me reading through my tears.
8. Do you think she will like it? *shrugs*
9. Its Friday link an upbeat song….Not really feeling upbeat so I got nothing! 🙁
10. If we met what would you want us to do together? See Tasha’s answer as that sounds like a BLAST.
1. Around what year did you become a regular commenter on the blog?
Around the beginning of 2013, I believe.
2. First buddy read on the blog?
The first I can remember was The Tied Man. Holy moly, do you guys remember how we were all freaking out while reading it? Just check out Maryse’s review for the highlights. *giggle*
3. Moment that made you laugh the most?
Real bev vs. fake Bev. 😆

Of all time on here? GAH, I don’t know…maybe Sweet Gum Tree?
5. Book you read because of a Maryse rec?
Me Before You.
6. Have your reading taste changed since you first started visiting the blog?

Everything You Want Me to Be by Mindy Mejia.
8. Do you think she will like it?
Pretty sure she will.
9. Its Friday link an upbeat song….

Not sure it would be considered UPbeat, but I love the beat and often listen to it while running: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3ccbj0A6NJI
10. If we met what would you want us to do together?
Tasha’s answer. Definitely. I would all kinds of food and martinis (both regular and keto) for you all!! 😀
The Tied Man….that was the title!
Wasn’t that BR fun, bev? 😛
Tasha…it’s definitely not the Tartlette Toasted palette. Those are warmer brown/orange colors. I bought my friend one, and it’s perfect on her. She has chocolate brown hair, dark brown eyes, and tans beautifully. The colors look amazing on her.
I always use shadow to line under my eyes (cardinal rule…never use eyeliner under the eyes, only on the top lid) and if I’m feeling a bit lazy or am short on time, I’ll use it on my top lid instead of liquid or gel liner.
With the Brow Wiz, start out using it with a light hand and just touch up your brows here and there to give them a nice filled out look until you’re a little more confidant with it.
And believe me, your eyeshadow will NEVER melt or crease with the UD eyeshadow primer, as long as you apply it all over your lid. I love it!
It was. That was 2014 and maybe that was the year I really started participating.
Though …..I’m still not sure I actually liked the book, lol .
Ha. It’s fun looking back, isn’t it?
1. Around what year did you become a regular commenter on the blog?
Exactly 3 years. March 2016. Whoah. That’s gone quickly.
2. First buddy read on the blog?
? Not sure. I did attempt to read Thoughtless cos everyone floved it so much, but I just couldn’t get through it. Kellan was cute, though.
3. Moment that made you laugh the most?
Someone (can’t remember who) posted their reaction to a forbiddeny read about a priest falling in love. They loved the book but felt like they needed to drop to their knees and pray for forgiveness for reading such forbidden sauciness. It was a really funny comment, but I haven’t got their way with words.
4. Book you’ve probably rec’d the most?
Devil In Spring by Lisa Kleypas, maybe?
5. Book you read because of a Maryse rec?
The Opposite of You by Rachel Higginson. I liked it. Reading the latest one in that series right now.
6. Have your reading taste changed since you first started visiting the blog?
Yes. I’ve fallen a little out of love with some authors I used to adore e.g. Kristen Ashley, Nalini Singh, Karen Marie Moning. I still like pnr, but I’m a bit fussier about which books I choose now. I still love CR and HR, and I still usually don’t like death books or bully books or too much angst.
7. What’s a rec you still want Maryse and others to read?
The Last Hour Of Gann by R. Lee Smith
8. Do you think she will like it?
?? Maybe, maybe not. It’s very long, a bit weird (falling in love with a lizardman WTF?) and has some violent moments. Fantastic book, though.
9. Its Friday link an upbeat song….
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6Sxv-sUYtM
ha ha ha. You won’t be able to get that out of your head all day now.

4. Book you’ve probably rec’d the most? Fallen Crest. 🙂
5. Book you read because of a Maryse rec? A lot. lol Undeniable by Madeline Sheeran
6. Have your reading taste changed since you first started visiting the blog? eh… not really? I mean, I can honestly say I’ve always experienced reading moods like I do now, I came in in a mood for BDSM alpha, but that never went away. I still like them. *grins* And I originally saw the site based on the word paranormal, which I still adore. *shrugs* And the bully thing? I liked Bruce Patman at the age of 11. lol Not much has changed.
7. What’s a rec you still want Maryse and others to read? *thinks* A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
8. Do you think she will like it? Yeah. It’s different enough to be intriguing, but she’s in psycho land right now, book-wise. 😛
9. Its Friday link an upbeat song….
Yes mine will be kpop. *shrug*
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7Bc3pLyij0 This makes me smile. Not the video but the song.
10. If we met what would you want us to do together?
Tasha wins, except we must have music. Bev would play her KPop, R and Amy would show off their funky finds, I’d probably find something popular in some genre. *nods* Singing and dancing allowed if that’s what you feel.
On the Island is on sale for 1.99, normally 11.99!!!
If anyone hasn’t read this, snatch it up. NOW. 😉
The Birthday List by Devney Perry is free. It is about a woman whose husband dies who tries to complete his bucket list. Definitely recommend reading it!

3. Moment that made you laugh the most?
*blink, blink* How can I choose one? bev vs. Bev was classic! There have been some humdinger Friday nights in here too. Mixing up of cocktails and dirty innuendos, not naming any names here, *cough cough, Amy, *cough*

Thanks bev, this was super fun, as always!
Jan the next Kleypas it’s going to be Cassandra & Severin isn’t it?
I’m curious about Cassandra.
Around what year did you become a regular commenter on the blog?
I found your blog after 50 Shades, as I was looking for similar books. 2013? Can’t believe its been that long!! I don’t comment much. I look at your Blog every day & that’s where I find all my reads!!

10. If we met what would you want us to do together?
Eat, drink, talk about books, make up, movies.
I finished Naked Love! I always feel so accomplished when I finish a book. Lol. It wasn’t quite what I thought it would be. Not my favorite of hers, and I did spend well over half the book disliking Jake, but it won me over in the end.
Now what?? I need some kindle unlimited ideas. Oh! I’ll try Work Wife. Anybody got any other suggestions?
Do you all have any tricks for more energy?
My energy level, never that high, feels so low right now.
Same, Bev. And not even because of the baby all the time. I swear it’s at different times when my hormones are doing something tricky. Like, it’s on a schedule and I’ll have several days in a row where I feel so sluggish and completely drained.
Tasha J, I felt the same about Naked Love! I’m now reading Where the Forest Meets the Stars by Glendy Vanderah, it’s KU. I’m about 43% into it and don’t want to put it down. I was expecting paranormal but it’s really not that.
1. Around what year did you become a regular commenter on the blog? Not sure…but it was after Bev & Amy because I remember them from my lurking days. 😉
2. First buddy read on the blog? I have a very bad memory with this. We’ve done so many BRs on GRs I get them mixed up with here. Maybe Jezebel?
3. Moment that made you laugh the most? Tie between fake & real bev and Amy’s penis typo. 🙂
4. Book you’ve probably rec’d the most? It’s got to be Behind the Bars as I gush about that often.
5. Book you read because of a Maryse rec? There have been so many over the years. But one of my faves is Pull Me Close
6. Have your reading taste changed since you first started visiting the blog? Yes! I’ve become extra persnickety.
7. What’s a rec you still want Maryse and others to read? Accidentally on Purpose
8. Do you think she will like it? Yes! Old school indie and angsty
9. Its Friday link an upbeat song….
Me and my son love to belt this one out in the car. https://youtu.be/6JCLY0Rlx6Q
10. If we met what would you want us to do together? Tasha’s plan sounds perfect. But a book bash would be cool too.
You remember us…..LOL. I forget about the people who just read the comments. Forget that we aren’t just privately texting.
Maryse has a post up for this.
Tasha, I hate this lethargy. Gah. Bought some B vitamins. Probably need to move more and get those endorphins going.
Mona, Where the Forest Meets the Stars sounds amazing! I shall definitely try that one, thanks! 😀
Bev, let me know if the vitamins help you.
Tasha, the new Rachel Higginson The Something About Her is on KU. I just read it and it’s good. Also the new Cora Reilly Only Work No Play, Alessandra Torre Undertow, Puck Me Secretly by Odette Stone, A Sense of Belonging by Laura Branchflower (OMYW), also RS Grey’s stuff, A Nordic King by Karina Halle (and more of hers, I guess), Karen Cimms, Sara Ney……. as you can probably guess, I’m enjoying my bargain KU subscription 😀
bev, did you read Devil’s Daughter yet? I loved it. Yes, the next Kleypas book is about Cassandra, and Tom Severin. I’m already excited about it. Tom is intriguing, but Cassandra is a bit of an unknown quantity.
Jan, yes she is which makes me so curious about her. I hope Severin stays a shady character, lol.
