And…
So, That Got Weird by Amelia Kingston <—THE AWKWARD GIRL & THE JOCK ALERT!! Ashley loved it so much that she read it again! “…As the reigning campus sex god, he has the playboy act down pat. But underneath those six-pack abs beats a broken heart. He doesn’t trust people and he sure as hell doesn’t believe in love. The odd couple strike a deal. Four weeks of & “tutoring” for five thousand dollars…”
Ashley: I reread ‘So, That Got Weird’ by Amelia Kingston and that was a fun time – it has the same vibe as Elle Kennedy or Maya Hughes’ books (which I’m a huge fan of).
Third Life by Noelle Adams <—LIVE!! AGE GAP OLDER MAN/YOUNGER WOMAN ALERT!! She only knows his first name but… “...he keeps asking me to meet him all over the world, and I keep saying yes. …I don’t know anything about him except his first name. That’s the way he likes it. He’s too old for me, and he’s hiding secrets, but I’m not going to be able to keep my heart out of it for long…“
Diana: …today I read Third Life by Noelle Adams & it was good. Fun & steamy, but predictable. Excellent rainy spring day read. 👍🏼
- Detained by Ainslie Paton <— MONY LOVED THIS ONE!
Mony: I finished Detained by Ainslie Paton, Aussie author. Really loved it!
First chapters – Mystery Guy & female reporter stuck in a Shanghai airport detention room – clever & hot. Characters “real”, dialogue tight – kind of book I like. Also, story unusual & set in China & AUS. Bit too long at end but I wanted to read it in one shot. Love finding books that punch their weight above their GR rating.
This was one of Ann’s “personal 5-star lose all track of time and reality books.”

I love this author!! “…When I was a little girl, I dreamed a handsome knight would come and rescue me from my wretched mother. He’d ride up on his white steed and break the curse I’ve been fated to carry since the day I was born. Funny how things changed over time. How the fairy tale twisted into something far more crooked, darker than I ever imagined. In reality, my knight is scarred and broken, living alone in a castle of bones that overlooks the sea. He isn’t searching for me. He never was. Lucian Blackthorne is as cursed as I am, and equally shunned by the locals…”
Debbie: Eeeeps! This is one insanely good read. She nailed the creepy Gothic feels wrapped up in a haunting love story. *sigh* <3
Maryse: OMG thank you so much for the feedback!!!! I LOVE the sound of this one so much.

She’s a bartender living smack dab in the middle of NYC and has had it up to here with entitled tourists, an annoying roommate and just barely surviving. She’s forced to move into a cheaper apartment, and with it comes a seedy landlord, drippy faucets and a peculiar stranger in apartment 13. Shahzad has pulled all the stops to get to know Ms. Vivian Carver, someone who in no shape, form or fashion understands her full potential…”

The Danger You Know by Lily White <— LILY WHITE’S LATEST DARK READ ALERT!! HE’S HER STALKER…“…I pursue her despite the wedding bells that rang for another, only I can see how she is drowning beneath mediocrity. How many times must I remind her? It can’t matter that I am the person who ruined her life. The man who killed her father. The constant shadow that watches her sleep. The lover who prefers dirty alleyways to freshly laundered sheets. She’s mine. Always has been…”

The Prince and the Pawn (When Rivals Play Book 4) by B.B. Reid <— SERIES FINALE!!! BULLY BOOK ALERT! “...They were wrong for each other from the start. The jock and the nerd, what a cliché they made. He was the town prince, and she was a nobody. Tyra Bradley was invisible. That is until she told him he needed some manners, and so began their game of cat and mouse...”
- Everything Girl by Emily Mayer <— MONY LOVED IT!! And was her message to the author about it (and the author replied). 😀
Mony: Hi Emily,
Loved loved loved your book. Well written, quirky characters, and great book boyfriend…loved the Montana setting. Good job pacing the slow burn between Jack and Evelyn. A gem.
Hoping you’re thinking about writing a sequel about Ben. Fantastic character – came alive with his wit, charm and “manwhore struggles.” Just begging to be written! What do you think? Thanks!
Emily (the author): …I took a detour for book #2, but I am spending my quarantine with Ben! I couldn’t agree with you more. He definitely needed his own story. I am already a little bit in love with his story and can’t wait to share it with you!
To another reader: “still hoping for a May release date” 🙂..
By a Thread: A Grumpy Boss Romantic Comedy by Lucy Score <— OMG I just cackled out loud on that blurb!! Especially that last line!! *snort* Oh this is gonna be gooooooood!!!

GORGEOUS COVER & TITLE!! “…To resist the cold, to endure the months of night when even the air itself begins to freeze, requires a special breed. Variation is dangerous, difference is fatal. And Yaz is not the same.
Yaz’s difference tears her from the only life she’s ever known, away from her family, from the boy she thought she would spend her days with, and has to carve out a new path for herself in a world whose existence she never suspected...”- Pretty Things by Janelle Brown <— RECENT PSYCH-THRILLER RELEASE AND GUESS WHAT????
Nay: For anyone who likes book adaptations, I just saw Maryse’s FB post about Pretty Things by Janelle Brown, and when I went to add it to my tbr on GR, I saw that one of my friends had posted that Nicole Kidman is going to produce and star in the book’s adaptation as a streaming Amazon series.
Maryse: OOOOOH YAY!!!! I love that!! Though I’m going to read it first. 🙂 Thank you for that news, Nay!
Complete Fixed: The Complete Fixed Series: Books 1-5 by Laurelin Paige <— HOLY MOLY SERIES BUNDLE SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!! I just one-clicked it!!
Michele: Just finished Fixed on You series…..GREAT, love, mystery, heartbreak and well the end……it was the best bargain….
Cheryl: Hudson is a hot alpha guy who says right off the bat that he is incapable of love and combined with Alayna’s obsessive “love’ disorder, you just know a train wreck is coming.
Krisztina: I just finished the Fixed trilogy by Laurelin Paige. Hudson (the whole story from his point of view). I have to say that I was reading the 2nd half of Forever With You with tears in my eyes … now I am obsessed with Hudson Pierce 😉
A Kiss to Tell by W. Winters <— SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT! HE WAS BAD NEWS & SHE WAS THE GIRL THAT DIDN’T BELONG… “...From the first time I saw him, Sebastian had a hard stare that pinned me in place. And years later, it hasn’t softened. We lived on the same street and went to the same school, although he was a year ahead. Even so close, he was untouchable. He was bad news and I was the sad girl who didn’t belong. One night changed everything...”

Happy Friday! Boy, doesn’t this month feel SO long?? This is a good looking list. I’d especially like to read Final Serendade and Detained. Monster of Salt and Bones has a beautiful cover, Pretty Things is going to be a movie! 😮 And By a Thread triggers my Romcom loving heart.
Omg and next weeks releases? He Started It looks SO good to me and Where the Lost Wander is my best of read of the year for sure.
Yep!! I’m having a great reading week, and many of these are calling me too!!!
So wait… tell me about Where the Lost Wander!!!!!
It took me a long time to put into words, so I’ll just copy and paste my review from GR-
Every time I read one of Amy Harmon’s books, I’m in awe. She is by far one of my favorite authors to date and one I most often recommend. This was the first historical fiction I’ve read of hers and I have to say, I’m just completely amazed at her ability to write, so beautifully, different genres.
So, Where the Lost Wander will be one of those books that resonated so strongly with me, I’ll often think back on it with fondness as a forever favorite that I know I will remember for a long time to come. You know those books you pick out from childhood, jr. high, high school, adulthood that just stuck with you? I have a handful, at least, and this is definitely one of those for me.
This book starts with a bang, a Big Bang and then with the first chapter we go back to how we got there beginning in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1853. I can’t say I’ve read many books set on the Oregon Trail, but I can say that I’m happier to read about it than have lived it. 😂 This tale is so descriptive and atmospheric that I could truly envision it as if I were watching it on screen or there my very self. And the characters, I just loved the May family, John Lowry, Naomi, The Caldwells, the Shoshoni, the Dakotah, the entire wagon train and those we meet along the way. It is a story of hardship, adventure, grief, love, understanding and compassion, divide between races, wisdom and strength. I could see so many similarities between the way things were then and they way things are now, both in the way we treat people and that women are the real MVPs, (sure, men are great too ;)) and it is a great reminder of what we should learn from the past. This is a story I could have easily read in a couple sittings, had time allowed, but I am grateful that I got to savor it instead. I was surely emotional at the end and that is exactly how I want to feel when finishing a book that made a mark on my heart. The Author’s Note at the end was a treat that gives a peek of insight as to the inspiration for several characters and little historic tidbits to further enlighten the reader on how this amazing story came to be.
Great review, Tasha! I’m really looking forward to reading it!
Thanks, I hope it hits you as hard as it did me!
I get really into historicals about Native Americans/Slavery/WWII, always have so there are a few that still stick out from my younger years and into adulthood. And especially have always loved books with adventure. So, mix the 2 with Amy Harmon’s exquisite writing and I’m hooked.
I have this one to read over the weekend…so I can write my review before it releases Tuesday…yep, I’m way behind on my ARC’s. I love Amy Harmon too so I can’t believe I let this one sit for this long…so excited to read it after seeing your review again Tasha. I remembered you loved it a great deal…
Thanks Tasha. I’m keen to read this one as well.
March felt like it would never end. It was the longest month ever in the history of the world.
April is actually going by really fast to me. I keep being surprised we are in the last week. Time is a funny thing.
Where the Lost Wander is now on TBR list…thanks Tasha!
Good morning and happy Friday!
I got my audio book of Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier from the library last night (yay me!), so I immediately put All the Ugly and Wonderful Things on hold (it’s really good so far, but I hadn’t gotten fully into it yet), and started listening. I’m only at 6%, but I’m already hooked. I hope it keeps it up!
I also started the audio of The Beginning of Everything, the first book in KA’s new fantasy series, this week, but since I bought it, I put it aside for all the library holds that are coming available (The Glass Hotel became available yesterday as well, so I’ll start it after Little Secrets).
I’ll keep y’all posted!
Btw, I’m so happy about all the love I’m seeing for Final Serenade! ❤️️
Yay!! Maryse, I’m so glad you’re enjoying Final Serenade! I really enjoy her writing style – I think it’s because she has a different feel from the many other “rockstar romance” stories out there…they are all my catnip but hers stand out!
So many yummies on the list today!! I didn’t notice if you mentioned Ember by Emma Renshaw on Tuesday or not but I just finished it and really loved it…probably a 4 to 4 1/2 star read for me. It’s a sports romance with some other twists thrown in. Very good.
I’m also listening to The Sun Down Motel by Simone St. James…Tasha, I know you’ve read this. WOW! Loving it and the audio is fabulous!! Mysterious and creepy…so good!
Yes!! Glad you’re enjoying so far. It’s so descriptive I could truly envision it in that setting as if I were watching a movie as well.
Thank you for reminding me! I knew there was another hotel/motel book I wanted to put on hold, but I couldn’t find it because I was searching for “hotel.” Now I just have to wait 14 weeks to get it.😂 But really, with so many people staying at home, I’ve been getting holds in about half the time.
Nay, do you ever get “skip the line” holds with your library? Meredith and I’ve both been getting them pretty frequently…but you can only take two at a time…it’s usually the books with the long wait times. And yes…I think you’ll really enjoy this one so it will be worth the wait…
Michele—I check skip the line about once a week, and I’ve NEVER seen a single book. I wonder if I’m doing something wrong? I checked my settings and I think they’re right. 🤷♀️
Weird…ours notify us. I’m not sure how to set it up…it just happens …lol. I’ll ask Meredith..she’s techier than I am.
Looked at the news this morning and had to turn away. Protesters and injecting disinfectant? *sigh*
Still reading The Bookish Life and I like it, it is very quotable. I just need to sit down and focus on it.
Anyone else want rainy days? I am craving rain.
No, it’s been cold and dreary long enough here, give me 70s and sunny, any day.
I woke up early this morning and saw that on my twitter feed and went back to sleep. I really thought I’d dreamed it! No such luck!
Right? Like it’s an SNL skit.
OMG YESSSS!!!
No words. Ridiculous. Why have medical experts when you (I think we all know who I’m talking about) are just going to make shit up and state it as a medical fact. I just can’t watch the daily news conferences anymore. *shakes head*
Mostly getting snow, rain and cold & windy weather here…with some sun once in a while to fool us… sun might actually help…but I know what you mean after seeing the same clip about uv light, etc…
I love a rainy day. It just makes me feel cocooned and like all I want to do is cuddle up and read.
These blue skies and 70 degree days and smelling all the things growing is such a weird juxtaposition against the pandemic.
Maryse ~ Final Serenade gah! I LOVE NN Britt’s writing style and her 2 other Rock Star books. The poor author probably thinks I’m stalking her because I can’t wait for the conclusion of the duet lol. My Little rock star romance loving heart is so happy!
Kim, you’re in good company…I pretty much stated I was stalking her in my review…lol.
Oh I AM going to read EVERYTHING she writes!!!! I connected immediately to her writing style.
I just read Final Serenade too and I loved it! Gah so many emotions from it and it was just what I needed during this quarantine .. it was Unputdownable!!
EXACTLY!!! I HAD to put it down to get some work done, but I couldn’t wait to get back to it, and just kept thinking about it. That’s EXACTLY what I look for when I read. THAT feeling.
Just read the synopsis for the Final Serenade. Was the author inspired by Bob Dylan’s mysterious motorcycle accident?
That’s a great question. The author is a music photo journalist I wonder if that was her inspiration
That has to be an interesting job.
Ohhhh interesting!!!!!
I’m saving Beach Read for my nightly read. I picked up The Simple Wild a little while ago and I’m really loving it so far. Hope it gives me a little more of what I’ve been wanting.
I LOVE THAT ONE!!! Very deep… amazing storylines and scenes that I will always remember from that book.
It has great feedback! I still see it everywhere on lists. Can’t put it down. Definitely giving me that bickering back and forth that I was craving from Beach Read. So happy I chose this one! ☺️
I still want to read Beach Read. What do you think so far? And the simple wild series is my favorite this year so far.
Simple Wild…one of my all time favourites
YESS!! One of my favorites!!! I love K.A. Tucker. Can’t go wrong with her.
I’ve been on a major historical fiction kick lately, but today I read Third Life by Noelle Adams & it was good. Fun & steamy, but predictable. Excellent rainy spring day read. 👍🏼
YES!!! Thank you for the feedback on it, Diana!!!
I just bought a ticket to an online kpop concert for tomorrow night.
This is why I should be asleep so I’m not making decisions like this at 1 in the morning.
LOL!!!
This is just like me. I wake up, can’t sleep… shop for things I “sort of” need but not really.
Happy Saturday! Just finished The Cornerstone by Kate Canterbary and loved it! Steamy story about Hot Guy & Sassy Girl as they steer through one night stands into something more. Sassy Girl is great – sharp-witted & a tough nut to crack. H is a great alpha. Loved the slow burn & Hot Guy’s transformation. Banter between h & H is clever and even sharper in second half. A 4.5-star read (deduction cause too much about h’s family). Plan to read The Spire (#6 in series)…story about Hot Doctor & Rebel Girl. 🙂
Thanks Jan for mentioning this author!
Watched Unothodox on Netflix last night. Cute miniseries about the adventures of a young American orthodox jewish woman as she becomes “unorthodox”. Loved it…has angst, humour. Fabulous acting & directing. My all time favourite for 2020. Also finished season 2 of Fleabag, that Emmy award winning TV series…now that one is may be best TV I’ve seen in last 10 yrs. Can’t give anything away. 🙂
Glad you’re enjoying, mony. The Walshes is a really good series IMO. I enjoyed Before Girl too, which is a spin off that I actually read first LOL.
Good to know Jan…and always nice to find a new author!
Hi Maryse! I just want to share that Absolution, the third book from The Disenchanted series from L.D. Davis is out now too!! The series is great and is worth some extra love. Angst loving fanatic like me would love it!!! ❤️
Oh!!! I’m going to feature it (and your recommendation) on tomorrow’s post!! 😀 Thank you Cicely.
Just finished “So that got weird” by Amelia Kingston. She’s a new author to me and I really enjoyed the book! Completely recommend
Thank you for the feedback on it, Shara. I love that it’s reminiscent of a few of my favorites from a few years ago!!
I’m watching Waco on Netflix and omg it’s so intense! I’m on episode 3 and it kind of makes you wonder who the bad guys are. Obviously, this crap is wrong, but there are wrongs on both sides. I dk, it’s bizarre to see how cults are formed. You think, how could anyone believe this crap, and when it’s portrayed like this, I can see it.
I’ve always been so fascinated with (and terrified of) cults. I remember when all of that happened, and how crazy it was. I may just check it out on the nights I’m preparing the new release lists. 🙂
I think I was too young at the time, so it’s kinda new to me. Tragic. Excellent acting.
Little Secrets was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
Highly recommend on audio…the narrator was terrific.
SO many twists and turns, I could never guess what was going to happen next!
This will definitely be one of my fav’s for 2020!
Maryse, you have to read/listen to this.
5++++ stars!
Shirley–I’m listening to it right now, and I agree–it’s SO good and the narrator IS terrific! When I’m listening to a female narrator and I stop paying attention to the fact that she’s also doing the male parts, I know she (and the book) are great!
I’m at 41% and I can’t wait until it’s time to cook supper and wash some clothes so that I can get back to listening!
Oh Nay…you just wait!!! I couldn’t stop listening! I finished at 1 am this morning.
I have a new favorite author!
Starting The Wife Between Us next- I’m going to listen to Jar Of Hearts when I finish Wife.
That one sounds good!
YESSSSSSS!!!!! This makes me so happy!!!
OMG Final Serende is SO GOOD and now I’m mad I’m done, and I want the next one RIGHT NOW!!!! HELP!!!!!!!
THAT CRAZY ENDING. I’m so freaked out for so many things right now in this story. So much potential for chaos…
*ooooooooomph* that was good.
Wish I could read Final Senerade but just can’t do cliffhangers…#2 out soonish so that’s good. Same deal with Big Ben…will need to wait for See No Evil Trilogy #2 & #3…ugh.
And Goddess Isles Series by Pepper Winters…#4 & #5 book are coming out in next couple of months. Same genre as her Tears of Tess series. High GR rating for #1-3 so far… 🙂 Waiting waiting waiting
Soon, Mony! You’ll love it!!
Maryse–don’t you just love it when a book does that? That ending was just GAH!
I was gonna say I have my Mojo back, but I think the mojo always exists in me, and depending on the book, the mojo flourishes. This book had PLENTY of all that. My mojo is happy! 😉
Maryse- with the salt and vinegar wings you made, did you just use the seasoning you purchased?
I first marinated them for a couple of hours in a wine vinegar with olive oil and salt and pepper… then I air-fried ’em, and once I took them out, I tossed them in the salt and vinegar seasoning 🙂
Thank you! So funny, ordered the seasoning this morning and just got it from Amazon. Now to get some wings…
Karina Halle has a new book out today called Lovewrecked.
What???? I must go find this.
Ooh…love the blurb. Why can’t all romance books have a “tall, dark, and handsome” hero who is a “major grump & total alpha”? hmm… Thanks K!
OMG SOUNDS SO GOOD! I love stories of being stranded with someone… and I love that he’s a grump. LOL!
