Tessa: Soul of Mage by DD Chance. I am reading it right now, and I had already read the first three books. This is the last of the series. I have to say, if you like paranormal, READ IT! It’s a very different take on magic and academy paranormal. Even the normal fantasy that everyone is used to.
The twist is the actual mage trials, which aren’t hunger games, but instead almost a VR, but paranormal like. So unique and fun. I absolutely love it. I’m at 90% of the last book and it ended perfectly. 😀

Nay: I agree–it’s SO good and the narrator IS terrific! When I’m listening to a female narrator and I stop paying attention to the fact that she’s also doing the male parts, I know she (and the book) are great!

I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy books and there were so many it turned out to be a binge, including Cinder by Marissa Meyer & The Selection series #1-3 by Kiera Cass. Not from the list, I added The Fae Chronicles #1-3 by Amelia Hutchins.
Well, good news is it was tons of fun to be immersed non-stop in other worlds for a few days…perfect for these times. If I have any complaints, it would be that some weren’t steamy enough while others too much so. LOL
The first two are actually fairy tale-like as well…extra bonus if you want a laid back vibe. A wonderful experience quite different from reading contemporary romance, scary paranormal or dark reads.
Definitely want to do more “soft” fantasy binging 🙂 Overall, I gave these books a 4-5 star rating.

Beach Read doesn’t get released in Australia till May 18 for some reason, but I want to try that one too. Hate the cover but the book could be good.
I will have a look at Pink too. Occasionally I like a mafia read. This one feels a little different from the blurb. An author I haven’t tried before. I like to try out new-to-me authors. You win some, you lose some. *shrugs* We’ll see.
I found it funny that “Pink” is the hero.

I dk if I want to finish Beach Read honestly. I’m at 70% and I skimmed everything through the end to see if it got any better for me, but it didn’t. I’m just bored and unmotivated to continue so I think I’m calling it. It’s not horrible, but I’m disappointed with the direction it took. It started off promising and what I thought it was going to be, wasn’t. I don’t really care for the main character. There are parts I like that I wish it would’ve played up more, but meh. I’m glad others are enjoying it though, it’s gotten high praise!
I do that a lot too, Tasha. Read something that is much loved and find myself putting it down and not excited to pick it back up… I hate that feeling but it’s real and it’s valid.

I’m adding the R.S. Grey book to my tbr. Her books are usually a lighthearted, funny read. Currently I’m reading The F List by Alessandra Torre. Have to say while the story is good, it is not up to her usual level of writing. There are many typos. I keep thinking are these supposed to be deliberate and part of the dual point of views?? Is there going to be some big reveal at the end? We’ll see.
