Mony: Thoroughly Whipped by Tillie Cole was a fantastic read…just the kind of I needed right now.

MONY READ SOME OF JAN’S HISTORICAL ROMANCE RECOMMENDATIONS!
Mony: Hi Jan, I was thinking about you over the last couple weeks as I binged on historical romances, one of your favourite genres. So much fun, I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed it!
- Just finished Slightly Dangerous by Mary Balogh (one of your favourites, I think?). I loved it…a beautiful slow burn – 5 stars ⭐
- Also enjoyed The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Ashley & Chasing Cassandra by Kleypas. Both were really good & 4.5 stars ⭐
- Once and Always by Judith McNaught – 3 stars ⭐
- Next up is…Daring and the Duke (The Bareknuckle Bastards #3) by Sarah MacLean. Always looking for recommendations! 😏
Jan: You gave similar star ratings to me, mony. Yay. Book twins! Yes, Slightly Dangerous is a beautiful book, isn’t it I’ll be interested to see what you make of the Sarah Maclean.
For recs, and slightly different HRs, have you tried Susan Fanetti’s Carry The World? American Great Depression.
Or Joanna Shupe’s Magnate? American Gilded Age. I enjoyed both.
Just Saying: An absolutely perfect and feel-good romantic comedy by Sophie Ranald <— HIS PERFECT EX-GIRLFRIEND MOVES IN WITH THEM… “…out of the blue, Zoe needs a place to live. And Joe has the bright idea of inviting her, and her fluffy ginger cat Frazzle, to stay with them. Alice tries her hardest not to feel threatened. Joe’s ex might be pretty much perfect, but there’s no way that Alice will let Zoe steal him...”
- Tanner (Stryker County PD Book 5) by Kali Hart
- Wanted Angel: A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance (Feathers and Fate Book 3) by Sadie Moss
Reaper’s Wrath: A Last Riders Trilogy (Road to Salvation Book 2) by Jamie Begley <— LIVE!! Randi found us this one!
Randi: In case it was missed, Reaper’s Wrath by Jamie Begley is out. Book 2 in the trilogy. She put it into Kindle Unlimited because B&N didn’t have it out fast enough.
Melanie: …loved the last riders series by jamie begley omg its like alpha male heaven
Deborah: An interesting fact about Jamie Begley is that she is the mom of Sarah Brianne. The author of one of our favorite book ” Nero ( The Made men)” series.
- The Inn At Pelican Beach (Pelican Beach Book 1) by Michele Gilcrest
Secrets by L.A. Fiore and Anthony Dwayne <— SHE’S NEW IN TOWN & HE’S THE SEXY SHERIFF… “…Arissa Haywood, editor of the popular Southern Charm magazine, is looking to get out of the rat race of Charleston so moves to the quirky town of Summerville. - Caleb: Alpha Bad Boy MMA (Fit to Love Book 7) by Tarin Lex
- My (Im)perfect Love: A Friends to Lovers Sweet Romance Novel (Lyrics of Love Book 4) by Melody Sweet
Lessons In Corruption: A Student/Teacher Romance (The Fallen Men Series Book 1) by Giana Darling <— FORBIDDEN LOVE SUPER-BARGAIN TODAY!!
Jacqui: Lesson’s in Corruption by Giana Darling? I loved this book!
Nay: If you love the forbidden/taboo (age gap and student/teacher type), I inhaled Lessons in Corruption and Welcome to the Dark Side (Fallen Men 1 & 2) by Giana Darling. …The alpha writing reminds me of KA A LOT and in a great way (usually when I get ‘like KA’ recs, they don’t much remind me of KA.)” So if you enjoy reading about bikers, teacher/student, then I highly recommend these, especially if you love Tack Allen. BUT the second one has a huge age difference (bigger than the one in the first one), so if that bothers you, I’d read some reviews.
IOU: A Romantic Comedy by Kristy Marie <— MONY ENJOYED IT!
Mony: Loved IOU by Kristy Marie…it’s enemies-to-lovers N/A romance with a tough poker playing guy and an endearing sassy girl. Hadn’t read that author before – will be reading more 4****

Happy July 4th weekend! I cannot wait to read Hands Down. That teaser had me hooked.
Happy 4th of July my friend!!! And… ME TOO!!! I clicked it so hard!! It’s in KU too. 😀
HAND’S DOWN! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ YAY! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
In case it was missed, Reaper’s Wrath by Jamie Begley is out. Book 2 in the trilogy. She put it into Kindle Unlimited because B&N didn’t have it out fast enough.
Thank you Randi!! I’m adding it now. 😀
Great list Maryse! Are you still reading You Were There Too by Colleen Oakley? It’s so good!! I’ve been listening to the audio. Also, I’m reading Side Trip by Kerry Lonsdale and really enjoying it too. I hope everyone enjoys the 4th of July weekend. I’ll be spending it in my backyard…hopefully in the pool 🙂
I sure am! 😀 As we speak.
Is there cheating or a love triangle?
I don’t know yet… eeeeeep!!!
Harper, I would say there’s not really cheating – sort of a love triangle. It’s hard to explain without giving anything away. I finished it yesterday – buckle up Maryse, it’s an emotional ride!
Thanks, girls.
I’m in the last quarter!!! 😀
Ohhhh get ready! It’s gonna get intense!
I’m going to start Hands Down today too 😀
I forgot it was Friday! I tell you, I got up this morning and me and my girl got to sewing for hours, then I decided to get her an Etsy page going, and an IG, cooked some supper for everyone here and a couple loads of laundry. I am whooped. Those pages are time consuming and again, a bit tech challenged, so holy cow am I overwhelmed right now. If you want to check out what I am now all consumed with, here’s this. It took me 2-3 hours. https://www.etsy.com/shop/SnarkAndScarves?ele=shop_open
And this took like another hour. I didn’t even bother looking to follow yet. https://www.instagram.com/snarkscrunchiesandscarves/
YAY!!! I love that we get to see what you’re doing!!!
These are SOOOOO GREAT!! I love the fabrics you selected. Gorgeous.
Now if you could make some face masks to match… 😉
Lol, that’s what my Mom said. Face masks are a passing trend though. 😜 she has a handful more yet before she starts some fall stuff and then will probably slow down when school starts up. I have my Mom getting a pattern together for a single sided bandana that will be a little cheaper and then a bow tie bc it looks about the same if not easier than a scrunchie.
How wonderful Tasha!…sewing with you daughter and setting her up with Etsy. Will look what she’s up to 🤗
Lovely memories are being made…💖 ⭐
Thanks, it is fun!!
I’m 40% in to Home Before Dark as well, really loving it. Must check out those prime firsts!
Also, I watched Bird Box last night. You probably don’t remember, but I was holding out till I read the book. By then, Netflix may not exist, so I bit the bullet. Strange premise. Freaky. I thought it was done well and I was satisfied with the ending.
Hmm, Cleo McDougal Regrets Nothing or The Last of the Moon Girls. I don’t like politics, but the reviews for CMRN make me want to read it anyway. And TLotMG sounds like my usual kind of thing, when I’m in the mood. Also good reviews. I shall sleep on it.
My mom watched Bird Box last weekend and she LOVED it, but then she had nightmares all weekend because of it.
I didn’t find it that scary, but apparently it went deep with her…
Yea, it didn’t really freak me out. I’m kind of ok with that though. Lol!
Not to the point where I couldn’t watch a part, catch my heart 😂 or had to cover my eyes/couldn’t stand the dark kind of freak out. But it was a freaky concept.
So, Hamilton is wonderful.
I don’t have Disney + yet. That’s what it’s on right?
Yes. I would of watched it in theaters for more than the monthly cost, so thought why not?
YES!! That’s how I look at stuff like that, too.
Rental cost of these new movies is high, but had they been in the theaters, I would have went without second guessing it and spent more so… 😉
Happy 4th of July everyone!!! 😀
I’m reading the Zapata one.
Is there a reason why she cant say YouTube or Instagram?
I just finished Samantha Towle’s, Dead Pretty. Definitely not this author’s usual type of story, I’m not sure how to describe it: Murder mystery, suspense-thriller-romance?? The writing and story were great, kept me guessing and even when I thought I had it figured out, and knew where it was going, I was wrong. That ending, eeekkkk!! Just saying. Now I think I will start Hands Down.
I LOVE IT when I’m wrong!!!! That cover definitely had my interest. Thank you Cheryl!!! I will include your recommendation on a post this week. 🙂
One of my favourite romance authors, C. M. Owens, has retired…very sad.
She, Kristy Cunning and her other various pen names posted this today on Facebook:
It was also reported that she has shut down her links and sales for most of her books.
Dear Readers,
Since 2013, I have been an indie author in the romance world, and I’ve written over 60 books. While I’ve enjoyed every single moment I’ve had with all of you, and while I’ve cherished our time together, things have changed very drastically for me.
I know there are a few loose ends out there with some series, and I apologize from the bottom of my heart, but I’m not capable of finishing them. You know how much this pains me to do, if you know me at all.
I’m very sorry. Very sorry.
This is it for me. I’m retiring all my names. I wish I could give you more closure than this, but unfortunately, this matter is too private to discuss.
It’s okay if you’re angry. It’s okay if you’re disappointed. Whatever you feel toward me, I deserve it. I accept it. And I apologize.
But I found my limit. Now I need to step back.
Thank you all. Thank you for being there these past several years.
Thank you for loving me. Thank you for allowing me into your lives. I hope you find more authors you love. I’m sure you already have.
From the very bottom of my heart, thank you. I’m so sorry. So, so sorry. I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t feel it absolutely necessary to my own health.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Christie.
Breaks my heart reading that… 🙁
yea, she’s having a hard time…
That`s sad. I loved her Wild Ones series.
She does this week.
She died this week.
😔
So many loved her and her wonderful stories.
I hadn’t been truly afraid to read Home Before Dark as of yet. Maybe cuz I read it when it was light or in snippets here and there (I prefer a good binge read). But tonight, as I sit here in the dark and mysteries are unfolding, I’ve decided that enough is enough and I stopped mid chapter. To be continued in the morning, when it’s light. 😂 Even now, my eyeballs on the screen are scanning the peripheral shadows of my bedroom and I’m getting paranoid. I have to say, I like the writing. Really atmospheric. 👌🏻😉
I LOVE atmospheric!!!!!!!
That means it got under your skin and you’re just creeped out enough for it to worry you. LOL!!!
