GOOD MORNING AND HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!! 😀 Another weekend is upon us, and my fingers are crossed that we will have cooler weather than the last few days (we’ve had high 90s and 100s in our heat advisory). And it was SOOOOO HUMID. I need a nice outside reading break, so I cannot wait for that fall weather!!
But I am thankful it’s the weekend and I’m even more thankful that today’s list is awesome. In fact, two of our favorite authors have brand new releases over the last 24 hours!!! Sara New and Samantha Towle!!! And that’s not all…
TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT WE FOUND FOR THE WEEKEND !!
- Jock Road (Jock Hard) by Sara New <— SARA NEY ALERT!!! HIS BIG. DUMB. TRUCK. “…Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night, in his Big. Dumb. Truck…”
- Finding Storm by Samatha Towle <— SAMANTHA TOWLE ALERT!! ROCK STAR NEEDING A BREAK FROM HIS FAMOUS SELF… AND SHE DOESN’T KNOW WHO HE IS… “…a confrontation has me jumping in my car, putting LA in my rearview mirror. And a stupid mistake ends up with my car on the side of the road. And straight into the path of a girl who is the exact opposite of everyone else in my life. She’s like everything I used to know. And she has no clue who I am. Even if she did, I don’t think she’d care. She thinks I’m cavalier. I think she’s intriguing. And hot. Let’s not forget hot. I’m stuck in this town overnight while my car is being fixed. But I’m thinking I’m gonna stick around a bit longer...”
- Cruel Prince: A High School Bully Romance by A. Jade <— BULLY BOOK ALERT!! Michele recommends it!
Michele: Ahhh!!! I highly recommend Cruel Prince Royal Hearts Academy by A. Jade. It’s a bully book with a twist and lots of feels. It will make you sad (grab a tissue), angry and just when you want to stop rooting for the couple, you find yourself at odds and rooting anyway. It just came out and while not a cliffhanger it makes you want to read more about the gang! I can’t wait for book 2.
- For Those We Love by Lisa Sorbe <— SHE THUINKS SHE’S COMING INTO AN INHERITANCE “...Lenny figures she’ll attend her grandmother’s funeral, claim her inheritance, and be back in Los Angeles like *snap* that.Until she meets Ben Sloane, that is—a gorgeous but surly veterinarian who shared a mysterious relationship with her grandmother. One that costs Lenny half of her inheritance and forces her to stay in Lost Bay far longer than she ever anticipated.Keeping her life in L.A. on hold is harder than she thought it would be...”
- Hate You Less: A Contemporary Romance Box Set by Aubrey Wright <— BOOK BUNDLE SUPER-BARGAIN!!
- Hidden (The Scions Book 1) by Gemma Weir <— BULLY BOOK ALERT!! D.G. LOVED IT!!
D.G.: Good morning!!!! Wondering why I sound excited in my greeting??? I have one word for ya….BULLY. Yep, a big fat ole bully. Hidden by Gemma Weir was on the release list and I found that Valentine is a big ole fat bully! Throw in that Nova’s family is a major part of an MC and I am hooked! Love the whole scenario/plot of this book. Now the wait is on…there is a cliffy (which you know I hate) but book 2 will be out in a couple weeks…
- Grit and Grind (Dirty South Book 1) by Kat Addams <— AN AUTHOR WITHOUT THAT SPARK… UNTIL HIM… “...Klara Woods is an aspiring writer … with no inspiration. After one too many disastrous relationships, her quest for a leading man has fizzled out. Bored with her mundane lifestyle, she decides to do whatever it takes to get her head back in the game. When she finds out that one of her favorite authors, Christopher Kaiser, is leading a writers workshop, she’s the first in line to sign up….”
- Zodiac Academy 2: Ruthless Fae: An Academy Bully Romance (Supernatural Bullies and Beasts) by Caroline Peckham <— Tessa enjoyed this recent release (she’s the one that recommended the first book too)!
Tessa: Finished the Zodiac book last night. So good. Angst but a lot of humor too.
- Rise Of The King (Checkmate Series Book 5) by Emilia Finn <— HE WAS AN UNDERCOVER COP… P.S. The author says:
Rise Of The King is a Checkmate Series suspenseful romance. It’s a compete standalone and has no cliffhanger. New readers can start here. But beware, not everything is as it seems.
- Her Wingman (Bro Code Book 1) by Shelli Stevens <— HER BROTHER’S BEST FRIEND ALERT!! “…Kristen is in Seattle for a much-needed vacation after graduating college. Though she has more planned than just hanging with her bestie—it’s also the perfect time to ditch her virgin status and have a little fun. But finding the perfect guy is proving harder than it should. Blake knows trying to dissuade Kristen from the plan is useless. So he does the next best thing: he volunteers to be her wingman…”
- Lark Cove Series by Devney Perry <— NOW IN KINDLE UNLIMITED!! KATHY P found out about this one! I LOVE this author!!

- Baby Inheritance by Mckenna James
- Silent As A Stone: Heart of Stone Series #10 by K.M. Scott
- Whole Again: A Hometown Heroes Novel by
- Love Always by Riley Hart <— RILEY HART M/M ROMANCE ALERT!! “...Wren Cunningham lives on the streets and does what it takes to survive. No one has ever given a damn about him, so he works with the cards he’s been dealt and pushes his dreams aside. Fate steps in when Nate and Wren meet at eighteen years old. They have one week to live how they want, to pretend everything they hope for is within reach. What they don’t expect is to find exactly what they need in each other…or to fall in love. But sometimes love isn’t enough, and goodbyes are inevitable...”
- Ugly Dark Truth: A Reverse Harem High School Bully Romance (Harvard Academy Elite Book 2) by Sapphire Knight
- As the Cog Turns (Mecha Origin Book 2) by Eve Langlais
- GUY: A Dark Romantic Comedy by Bry Ann <—- OOOOOOH!!! CONSIDER ME TITTILATED!!!! “One Island. Two survivors. Can love survive their demons? After a life on the streets he’s done with people. Done with society. Done with all of it. He doesn’t care if that means living alone on a deserted island running a successful tech consulting gig. No one is worth leaving the life he built. Not even his mafia capo best friend. Until he meets her…“
- North: Broken Deeds MC by Esther E. Schmidt
- The Legacy of Moon Hollow (A Paranormal Romance Anthology)
- Fallen University: Year Two: A Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance by Callie Rose
- By the Sea of Sand: A Futuristic Romance by Megan Hart <— MEGAN HART SCI-FI ALERT!! “...Life is not easy by the Sea of Sand. The remote outpost and its lighthouse were never meant to serve as a place for wounded soldiers to recover, but that’s what it has become. Teila has lived in the lighthouse for her entire life, and now she also takes care of the men and women who gave their sanity fighting the Wirthera’s hive mind...”

Morning lady! I miss everyone. I feel like we’re on a break. There’s a gif for that. 😋 Anyway, it’s a cool 52 this am with a high of 73. I switched over J’s drawers to fall wear this week and next week says 80s. 🤨 I’m in pumpkin spice mode still and my favorite local shop just got there’s in!!! I’m so excited. They created a pumpkin whip that I’m trying today.
I’m still reading Nora Roberts’ Year One. Nearly halfway there. Still enjoying, but my mood was yelling Whisper Man yesterday so I started it too. Good so far, but I’m only 20%. I was also thinking I’m in the mood for something with some real mean girls. I dk why, lol. Anybody know any of those?
The one I just finished, Crossed Lines, has a mean girl. It’s her defense mechanism, but it was very authentic. And I never hated her for it.
Oh awesome, I’ll check it out!
Oooooh good idea for a list!!!!
Did you ever read Tijan’s Fallen Crest Series. I loved the entire series, and it definitely contained some bullying and mean girls scenes! I wish I could find another series just like it!
Ooooh, yes…Fallen Crest has some mean girls in it! Though the h isn’t one of them, if that is what you were looking for, Tasha.
I just realized one. Diamonds by KA Linde. That’s why I loved it. The mean girl and her POV. Also, Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas.
Good morning! Happy Friday!!🌞
I’m at 41% on The Whisper Man and it’s only getting more chilling! The narration is wonderful, especially when a certain creepy voice is speaking. Today’s date day, so I’m not sure if I’ll finish, but I’m going to try!
Yay, more chilling is good! I hope you have a great date day!! Don’t forget dessert. I don’t do those, hardly ever, but last weekend we went to Ikea!! 1st time ever, it felt like a date. 😂 We went out to eat too after dropping off what we bought at home before picking up the kids.
Thanks, Tasha! We’re really enjoying doing things without the “kids” (they’re 18, 20, and 22 now). Every week, hubs asks, “Should we invite the boys?” and I quickly say, “No!” I don’t mean to sound heartless–I love my boys, but at the moment, they ALL live with us, and we don’t ever get time to ourselves. Plus, they all go to restaurants with their friends and gf’s all the time. And I never forget the dessert! Hubs laughs at me because when we’re trying to decide where we’re going, the first thing I look at is the dessert menu…and then the drink menu for my one fun drink. I love beer, but I’ve decided to try to experiment with some frou-frou drinks.
I say that any time that you can get with the hubs can be considered a date, especially when your kids are younger, so what you and your hubs got to do sounds wonderful! Rick and I didn’t get to do that enough since the boys were 2, 4, & 6 when my heart stuff started. That’s one reason we’re taking full advantage of it now.
Agreed!!! I love the goosebumps and edge-of-my-seat feel of these books!!!!
Good morning! I need more coffee before I can talk books.
*holds out mug*
*pours coffee*
I had a HARD time getting up this morning. I think because it’s still dark out when I wake up now, and so I’m still in that deep sleep mode.
Leslie! I remembered which book I kept seeing and misreading the title of: Butterface! Every single time I see it, I think it says Buttface.🤦♀️
Tee hee 😜
Good morning! Have my coffee in hand, and mulling over my latest book. I finished Crossed Lines by Lana Sky last night. Stayed up late to finish. It was a doozie. Well written. From her POV, which was jaded and lost and biting. Didn’t predict a thing in this one. Enjoyed the ride. 5 stars for keeping my interest the whole way through. Forbidden romance. Big age gap. Loss & trauma. And only her POV, AMY!!
Ooh, Crossed Lines is one I really want to read! And I’m so happy to hear it’s only her POV! I’ve just about stopped reading romance, and I think one of the reasons is because I’m just tired of being given all the information through both voices. If I read a romance blurb and it has the male character voicing something, I skip right over it. I don’t think this will last forever–at least I hope not–but I want to wonder right along with the h instead of the H telling me what’s going on before he even tells her.
Right?!?!? I wanted in his head so bad! But I’m glad I never got to be. Kept me on edge.
I don’t want his POV. No mystery, and usually totally wonky & unauthentic. They end up less macho.
YAYYYYYY!!!! I’m so excited!!!!!! I want to read that one so bad. It’s in my top three of my TBR list (the other being Escape Room)
The only time lately that I somewhat like getting the male POV is when they are seeing things totally different from the woman. Otherwise, I don’t want to know what’s in their head at all…it ruins everything. Usually, I’d rather know about the confusion and how they saw things differently AFTER the fact too.
Right there with you, Michele. EXACTLY!!! That keeps the mystery alive and nerves tingling!!!!
I should say “Micheles” LOL. Since I agree with you both BIG TIME!!
Almost every romance book I pick up now (unless it’s a thriller) is from both POVs… sometimes I like the book enough to read it anyway, but they don’t seem to affect me as hardcore as the single POVs do.
MichelleS! I started that one the other day but stopped because I wasn’t in the mood for dual POV, and the blurb had me thinking it would be. I started The Burning Girl by Claire Messud, but I may squirrel back to Crossed Lines after seeing your comment!
Those stinkin’ succulents at Target STILL aren’t out. I think Sunday will be the day, but don’t they KNOW it’s time to decorate NOW!! I’m so incredibly impatient. I think I’m doing this for my “costume” this year. I really don’t dress up, but I like it and it’s cheap. https://www.target.com/p/adult-celestial-cape-halloween-costume-accessory-black-hyde-38-eek-boutique-8482/-/A-75667696?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&CPNG=PLA_Seasonal%2BShopping_Brand&adgroup=SC_Seasonal&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=m&location=9016023&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImoPbjrK85AIVBNvACh0GnQ6dEAsYAyABEgL6N_D_BwE
That’s wickedly cute, Tasha!
I love it! 🙂
This is mine. My niece bought it for me as a birthday present. My favorite princess is Sleeping Beauty and has been since I was little.

Ahhh, that’s so cute!! It’s giving me slightly spooky vibes. I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe The Broken Girls by Simone St James. I don’t even remember if they had uniforms, but ya know what I mean?
Yep. I do. It doesn’t help that her skin tone doesn’t match her hair. *facepalm* The model is pretty but with that hair and outfit, she comes off as creepy.
I went to Target and they are right now putting up the Halloween stuff, so it should be there in the today or tomorrow. You can call to ask when it will be put on the shelves.
Sometimes it’s so quiet here for so long, I double check what day it is and wonder if I missed a post or something.
What’s everyone up to? Reading? Watching anything good? Running around living life? Lol. I miss our conversations. The updates on work life, family, likes, dislikes, games, etc. Even when not everyone joins in conversation, it gives me life. I Miss you all!!
Hi Tasha *waves* Yeah it has been kinda quiet around here lately. I’m doing more work hours at the moment and not as much time for reading and checking the blog and just chillin’. But I’ve got a bit of down time today and just relaxing and enjoying. *sips coffee*
I’m in a mini book slump at the moment. Keep trying new authors and books but lots of them just pleh. I just looked back to see which new book I really liked last, and it was Susan Fanetti’s Accidental Evils, and that was back in July!! Whaaa???? I’m doing rereads, rereads……
I wanna see the Downton Abbey movie which comes out here soon. My hubs isn’t that interested so i might have to grab a girlfriend and have a girls night out. I didn’t really watch the tv series cos I missed a few episodes then kinda lost the thread. But I can handle a movie LOL. Anyone else planning to go?
Hi Jan! Is it warming up a bit there? I always think of you when the seasons start changing. I’ve not watched Downton Abbey. Sounds like a good time though.
Winter is still hanging around, although we’ve had a couple of warmer days and the trees are starting to blossom and bud. But it’s cold and dull today. Ugh.
The costumes and settings of Downton Abbey will be worth a watch, if nothing else. A good cast too, I think.
Tasha–I absolutely LOVED Downton Abbey! I caught on late and binge-watched the first 5 seasons, then watched the 6th in real time. And, Jan, I’ll definitely be watching the movie, but I’ll wait until I can catch it at home.
I miss you guys too, (and you too Tasha)!!!
It’s been a very busy summer for me, actually this whole year has been awesome, but crazy busy. So… while of course I’m still here every single day blogging and squirreling over books, I’m all over the place, book-wise. I remember so many years ago when I had all the time in the world, and was reading one book a day for an entire year back when I first started this blog.
That was incredible…
*sigh* I miss those days, too. Sometimes it’s just no fun being a grown up, LOL!
Good morning! Happy Sunday!🌞 Today’s going to be another beautiful day in the 80s and I plan to read outside and enjoy it while I can (when I’m not watching football). The rest of this week is supposed to be a scorcher.
I finished The Whisper Man, and I loved it, but I think I enjoyed it more for the study of its characters (I can’t say more than that, but when you read it, you’ll know what I mean) than the actual thriller aspect, which was still very good. There were a couple of surprises and I loved the creepy factor! The narration was top-notch–I rarely dislike British male narrators. It was a solid 4-star read for me (maybe 4-1/2) and I can see why many have 5-starred it.
I’ve started listening to Night and Silence so that I can read the newest October Daye book that released a few days ago, and I’m going to try to get a bunch of The Escape Room read today. I’m still just at 20%, so I can’t comment much on it yet except to say so far, so good!
I keep wondering what made life speed up so fast. It can’t just be more kids for me. I think the addition of extracurriculars for sure, but also, I’ve always had to shut out the outside world completely to read anything. Ignore duties, whatever it may be and it’s harder for me to do that now. I think because my priorities are shifting. Which isn’t a bad thing, but I do miss immersing myself completely into whatever I read. I just don’t want to only live and breathe books anymore.
ANYWAY, off that dreary note. I’ve been up to a whole lot of dullery <— it’s a word, I’ve made it up over here. Simple housework and chores, running errands, chasing babies, losing my mind. I haven’t even really watched anything in some time. I enjoy the silence of the tv off lately. My aunt helps with the kids I’ve watched part time, but she got shingles and I’ve had them more often. So, it’s been wild. But we went to Ikea! And that was fun. The meatballs weren’t anything to write home about, but they were ok. I got 3 armoires to replace my dresser system bc all clothes are just stacked in towers on them. And in laundry baskets. There had to be something done. But, we haven’t assembled yet. Who knows, maybe by next year. 😂 And, I got my hair done yesterday!! It’s been 2 years since I’ve died it. It’s same length, with a bit of a curtain fringe, and now mushroom brown with a cooler toned blonde highlight (just a bit there, not a lot) and I love it!! It’s felt like ages since I’ve gone dark. I even *gasp* asked them to dye my brows to match bc I wanted to see if it made them look more there. They’ve disappeared some over the years and who wants to pencil everyday when you don’t really go anywhere? Also, this isn’t the kinda place that offers microblading and it’s pricey. And it worked!! I wish it lasted longer than the couple weeks she said it will. I got pumpkin spice creamer today too at the grocery, wore my fall sweater, AND I’ve begun decorating. 😁😁 It’s the best time of the year.
AND!! For supper tonight, it’s stuffed sausage and spinach acorn squash. I’ve never worked with it before, but it sounds perfect for my mood. I’ve been going a little nuts on the comfort foods. P.S.- I found skinny noodles today like spaghetti, yet, they look like lasagna noodles. I’m sure they’ve always been around, but I’m quite excited to do something with them.
I love acorn squash! I never eat it though because it’s carby and I want to smother it in butter and brown sugar!
Ooh, I love acorn squash too, and I don’t eat it for the same reason as you!
Tasha, I have my brows microbladed and have to get them touched up every couple of years. Yes, it’s painful. Yes, it is pricey. And yes, it is worth it. IF you find someone good.
But if that’s not something you’re ready to commit to (because it IS a commitment) then I think you deserve to go every couple of weeks and have your brows dyed. Momma needs to do something to for herself. 😉
Tasha–sometimes I’m amazed at the parallels in our lives. You sound exactly like the me of 15 years ago, and that’s also about the time that my eyebrows started disappearing. (After 3 years of taking biotin, mine have finally come back, but they’re still more sparse than they used to be.)
I’ve checked 3 stores for pumpkin spice the past 2 weeks and when I finally found it at Walmart, they were out of it!😬 Hopefully I’ll find some this week. This is also my favorite time of year! I was reading on our porch the other night and a huge owl landed in one of our trees right by where I was sitting (got some great pics!), and tonight, hubs and I were sitting out there and a couple of deer walked up. We have deer all over where we live, but I just love it when they come through our yard.
Hey, my people! Continuing the conversation I started on last Tuesday’s post and (shamefully) didn’t return to because of life-sucking RL. Boo! I’m hopeful the Fall will bring about big changes so I can be around here more.
Anyone contemplating Say You Still Love Me, take Nay’s word and mine…it’s GREAT and worth the purchase!! Oh, and is NOT dual POV. 😉
Maryse…so glad your family is safe and sound!
Um, where is bev?
It’s in the low 60’s and rainy here so I’m in the recliner in my bedroom next to an open window, watching ducks play in the pond behind our house while the rain comes down on them. Can it get any more idyllic right now? I needed this. 😊
It sounds PERFECT Amy. I can’t wait until it cools down here… Birdy and I spent our first early morning outside together and he LOVED it! Sang his heart out with just a touch of sun on a part of his cage…
Got the wild birds going!!! LOL!!!
And my sweet puppies were just basking on the pavers at peace. Was a good morning. 😀 Though it didn’t last long ’cause it’s hot as Hades here right now.
