- Chase The Butterflies by Monica James <— LIVE!!! SOUNDS AMAZING AND POIGNANT & SUPER-ANGSTY from the ugly-cry reviews I’ve only glanced at!! LOVE AFTER LOSS? “…As I attempt to claim back my life, Jude Montgomery enters my world, and things begin to change. I thought running would appease the nightmares, but I soon discover my past won’t let go. Things are not what they seem, and I begin to question the world as I know it. Jude may hold the answers, but will my love for him blind me to the truth?…” P.S. It’s a standalone (no cliffhanger).
- The Punk and the Plaything (When Rivals Play Book 3) by B.B. Reid <— B.B. REID’S LATEST IN THIS BULLY SERIES IS LIVE!!! “Jameson and Barbette’s story is a continuation of the events that occurred in The Peer and the Puppet and The Moth and the Flame. For the best reading experience it is recommended that you read these books in order as the plots connect.” P.S. Here’s the reading order.
Tessa: BB Reid’s Peer and the Puppet, OMG, it was awesome. If you liked Fear Me, you’ll love this. It’s not as violent as Fear Me. The, err, issue that Maryse had with Fear Me wasn’t there at all. 🙂 Still ANGST! 🙂 Tons of it.
Nancy: YESSSS!!!!!

Then I met Grange. He’s a tormenter—an epic bully, but he’s promised to help me in my lackluster areas. He’s been ordered to fulfill service hours at my Aquatic Lab in Cape Cod if I allow it. He is bad, the worst. I’m talking wearing prison garb when I met him kind of awful...”

Like his hair, lush and black and far too long. Or his nose, the flat bridge of a Greek god, bent a little like it’s been broken. Or his size. Beastly. Roped and corded with muscles, gleaming with sweat and peppered with dirt. There’s no escaping him, not if I’m going to use his family’s flower shop for my events. But nothing is what it seems. And in the span of a heartbeat, my perfect life is turned inside out...”

- My Holiday Secret: A Fake Fiancé Contemporary Christmas Romance by Jackson Kane
- Unspeakable Things by Jess Lourey <— BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!! I just received another adamant recommendation (this time from Ashley) for a book I chose on this month’s “Amazon First Reads”. I’m going to start it tonight!!! *happy dance*
Ashley: I’m reading Unspeakable Things right now and wow. Its haunting and scary and the tiny hairs on the back of my neck are standing up. Oddly reminiscent of Judy Blume if she wrote psych thriller type books…. does that even make sense? 😂
I think I know what’s going on but then there’s something else I can’t put my finger on. The writing is amazing. Just a heads up for anyone who saw it …and wasn’t sure!
Tracie: And now I had to 1 click lol!
Suzie: I eyed this one and didn’t 1 click when they came out because my TBR is insane. Thanks for the recommendation!
Ashley: For real…. I’m not going to be able to sleep. 👀
Maryse: *claps with glee*
- Dirty: The Complete Series by Ella Miles <— SERIES BUNDLE SALE ALERT!! 😲🥳 From USA Today Bestselling Author Ella Miles comes a new DARK romance series! This collection includes: Dirty Beginning, Dirty Obsession, Dirty Addiction, Dirty Revenge, and Dirty Epilogue. “...He tried to warn me. Every chance he could, he tried to get me to run far, far away. But it only made my obsession grow stronger. Until I made the worst mistake I could. And ended up trapped forever...”
- Chronicles of the One Trilogy by Nora Roberts <— TASHA IS LOVING IT!!!!!!!
Tasha J: I started back in on Nora Robert’s The One the other night and I’m loving it. I love the whole apocalypse type genre, but I can’t say I’ve ever read about rebuilding civilization, if that’s where this is heading. It’s different and fresh, for me.
- Enemies by Tijan <— RECENT TIJAN RELEASE & WE HAVE FEEDBACK!
Shara: Finished enemies by Tijan yesterday. Loved it. I’ve been in a book slump and this one got me out of it. Not sure what I should read next.
Tessa: I finished Enemies by Tijan last night and big heart hurt. (Though, football note, the scoring spot is called an end zone, not safety. Safety is tackling the team in their end zone.)
Teri: Oh dear! This sounds angsty…
Linda: Yay!!! Love her books! Can’t wait to start reading it ⭐️
- The Lost Planet Series: Boxed Set: Books 1-5 by by K Webster and Nicole Blanchard <— LIVE!! SERIES BUNDLE ALERT!!! “…Journey to The Lost Planet with five full-length novels in a special edition boxed set!”
- Teardrop Shot: A Friends to Lovers Sports Romance by Tijan <— TORE HER HEART OUT BUT TESSA LOVED THIS ONE, TOO!
Tessa: …then I went to Teardrop shot. Actually better and i didnt expect that. It starts you out laughing and yet, towards the end your crying, even with the HEA. Tore my heart in pieces because so much starts with that happy cute feeling then emotions start to see in.
At first it’s all sad. Okay. No tears. But then the emotions really come out and I couldn’t stop feeling all the sadness.
Still. HEA.
- The Wife Between Us: A Novel by Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen <—- ON SALE & I 4.5 STAR LOVED THIS ONE!! A riveting, “marital strife” (or aftermath) psych-thriller (her husband left her for a younger woman…) P.S. here’s my review!!
Stacy: The Wife Between Us on Audible…5++++ stars!
Lindsay: This book was fantastic! Not what I was expected at all.
Theresa: …warning. Read every word, no skimming, no nozing and no reading ahead. This book has so many “hints” that it is easy to miss what and who is doing what. Well I passed to another neighbor, then to DIL and she passed to neighbor. We rarely pass a book this much.
Maryse: I did the same thing!! I read it, then I loaned my hard copy to my aunt, who handed it to my mom and then my sister. We ALL loved it and enjoyed that twist!! 😀
- A Place Without you by Jewel E. Ann <— DAFFY’S FAVORITE FOR 2019!!! When I asked for everyone’s favorites, she messaged me this:
Daffy: Hi! You asked for recs 2019 – A place without you – Jewel E Ann
Jenn: I am currently finishing up “A Place Without You” Jewel E Ann-I do not think I have ever laughed so much with a book that also is ripping my heart out! I can’t wait to finish it as most all in the BR have and of course loved it!
- All the King’s Men Duet by Kennedy Ryan <— SUSAN IS STILL THINKING ABOUT THESE!
Susan: I don’t know if anyone has read The KingMaker or the Rebel King. This is a fantastic duet and even though I finished it two weeks ago, I’m still thinking about it. Great Books!!
Lisa: I agree with Susan. Mercy. The All the Kings Men Duet has become one of my favorite reads this year. This story line had it all! When an author can combine social justice issues with a riveting slow burn romance?? Yes please and more!! …I borrowed this on my KU but I had to buy it for my library. One author made the comment that this is the future of Romance. I pray it’s so!! ✨📚✨
- Code 11- KPD SWAT Box Set by Lani Lynn Vale <— LANI LYNN VALE SERIES BUNDLE ALERT!!! Kathy LOVES these!
Kathy: That is a great price for the Lani Lynn Vale box set. I love her series and they rarely go on sale. Unfortunately, I bought all of these books at full price. Defiinitely recommend getting and reading if you can part with your Christmas money. She definitely writes the Alpha characters.
Maryse: She’s a blurb-jolt QUEEN!!! I WANT TO READ ALL of her books, ’cause the stories all sound unique and addictive.
- Outmatched by Kristen Callihan and Samantha Young <— RECENT RELEASE & WE HAVE FEEDBACK!! Julie O says it’s re-read good!
Julie O: Oh, BTW, just finished OUT MATCHED by Kristin Callihan and very much enjoyed. Could not think of 2 people who weren’t suited for each other but opposites attract.
Humerous and many sweet times. A good 4. And that means it is on the Reread shelf which is filling up.
- To Touch the Light: An Irons and Works Holiday Novel by E.M. Lindsey
- Tequila by Dr. Rebecca Sharp
- The Lineup by Meghan Quinn <— LIVE!! MEGHAN QUINN ALERT!! HE KNOWS SHE HAS A HUGE CRUSH ON HIM… “…according to her, she “accidentally” donated an obscene amount of money to my charity — The Lineup — to win said date but I found out the truth. Miss. Button Up Blouse has a secret, passionate crush on me. I didn’t know her name until two days ago, despite the friends we have in common…”

Good morning and happy Friday!! What a week! We had storm here that started Sunday and went through Tuesday…over 2 ft of snow.
I was able to take advantage of KU 3 months for 99 cents deal!! Yippee!! So if anyone has good CR recs, I’d love to hear ’em.
Holy Moly Leslie!! Do you ever have your water pipes freeze?
That used to be an issue for me every year when I lived in Montreal. You had to call a special company that would come and I think they’d blast hot water through the pipes so we could use them again…
AND YAY on the KU for 3 months!!! 😀
🤞 no frozen pipes!!
Someday, Someday by Emma Scott
The Assist by Rebecca Jenshak (she has 4 basketball themed books in this series)
Lola Wright’s Devil Angels MC Series (3 books in series so far)
Park Avenue Player by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland
Have fun!! Lots of great books to be found!! I definitely break even and more on KU each month.
Thanks K!
I’m def reading Someday, Someday and Park Avenue Player too!! Yay!! The Assist sounds good…I like sports themed romance. I’m not usually into MC books, but will check it out.
R. S. Grey’s books are on KU. I liked The Fortunate Ones and The Beau and the Belle.
I also liked Kiwi Rules by Rosalind James about a navy SEAL who’s lost a leg. Intriguing setting in New Zealand.
Rachel Higginson e.g. The Something About Her.
Odette Stone Puck Me Secretly (hockey)
Also Karina Halle and Sarah Ney.
Enjoy.
Thanks Jan! 🙂
Oh, I wanna read several of these so bad!! *wiggles* I’m stuck reading children’s books right now. My daughter has been struggling a bit this year, getting what she’s reading (or she’s just not that into it) so we’re trying something new. I’m pretty into these books, guys. 🤣🤣
I can’t say I envy your snow, Leslie. I want it, on or after Christmas. *gasp* Did you hear T. Swift’s new Xmas song?? I LOVE LOVE it!! I was just complaining yesterday the only Xmas station on the car radio is all old Xmas songs and there are tons of new ones we never get to hear. Even same olds just by new artists.
I got off track….yesterday was a sunny 40 and I finished my local shopping. I have to share and fed your foodie souls. We stopped at an olive oil shop, for a gift. And there were so many samples. She said, “Can I interest u in tasting 1 of the best selling oils?” Sign me up! So, she gave us Tuscan Herb infused oil (think the stuff they bring out @ restaurants. And said try it by itself 1st 😍. Then she said strawberry, blueberry or raspberry? I said strawberry and she gets out a dark strawberry vinegar to try by itself and 😍😍 no bitterness. Then together and OMG the best, salad dressing?!? And then she gets a white pear cranberry vinegar and it was different, different GOOD! There was a tang with the cranberry, still a bit sweet and same thing. By selves and together and it was sooo yum. Then, I grabbed blood orange olive oil cuz she had samples up to make brownies with. *dies* OH, and then I remembered I had to get a gift. 😂 For people who are not foodies, but there’s something for everyone bc they had BUTTER infused olive oil and it was even vegan. Tasted so yummy, she said to give a mason jar full of popcorn kernels and the olive oil and voila! And then I grabbed a nutty, yummy EVO olive oils cuz I had to. I haven’t eaten breakfast this morning, please excuse my excitement. 🤣🤣
I want to go to this shop!!! Yum!!! 😋
Tasha, not sure how old your daughter is but his might be something to look into. When my son was in 2nd grade/3rd grade, his stamina reading started to suffer. This was the age when the Chapter books were introduced. Previously, reading had not been an issue. We had him tested by a school psychologist and nothing was found. We then took him to eye doctor where it was discovered that he was having a problem tracking and focusing and needed vision therapy (apparently this is quite common). They did the pencil test where you are supposed to keep your head still and just move your eyes, well he couldn’t do it and moved his whole head. He was given eye exercises to strenthen his eyes. He also would use a notecard that would cover up the writing below so he could just focus on that one line. He is now 16 and a really good student however he is still a slow reader. For English, we have learned that if he listenings to an audio book (ex. Great Gatsby) and follows along with a book that his reading comprehension improves dramatically compared to just reading the book. Just something to consider.
Hmmm, I will definitely consider this. She has glasses, got her eye exam in August again, but you never know. 🤷🏼♀️ I think, in part, she just doesn’t like to put much effort into it. Her focus is elsewhere often and she likes to rush to just be done with it. If it’s a book choice she thought she was interested in at first, she may lose interest and just struggles so much to finish. She doesn’t envision what she’s reading easily and doesn’t get a huge amount of enjoyment out of it. She excels in math, currently (4th grade) she’s in gifted classes for it, therefore she is my opposite. 🤣🤣 Her Dad and Grandmas were never into reading either so she may just favor his side. Seems to me she struggles a bit with English as well. Sometimes she’ll totally click with something and others she shocks me how obvious the correct answers are and I think, she knows this, what’s going on? I dk. Her teacher seemed to agree @ p/t conferences, we were worried about some things w/her comp. level (NEVER had this prob before) 2 particular books she picked, The Girl Who Drank the Moon and the 2nd middle school book, she struggled forever on. Over a month and u have to pass tests on these. Well, I learned she’d taken the tests recently 6 times each, max limit, and got really poor scores. The 1 we read together over break and I learned it was in fact her 2nd time through, cuz she needed to better absorb it, her words, and seemed to help reading aloud together. TGWDTM is fantasy, way out of the realm of her usual choices and she just could not understand to the point her teacher believed she didn’t read it. 🙄 I sent this long note the other day reaching out, wondering if her reading lexile was wrong, if she needed tutoring, if it was just the books she had chosen or if it was normal and her teacher sends me a paragraph back that says she can take the test again the next day and she’s not sure she read it w/that low of scores. Even after I wrote we had read it together. I was fuming and contacted my aunt, a former teacher and fellow reading/English lover and she gave me a bunch of tips to try and how to better communicate w/her teacher in the meantime. Fingers crossed it’s a better year here on out. She was on honor role last month, I wonder if it’s her growing and changing, she’s very social and school seems a lot MORE, outside school seems a lot MORE than when I was that age. Maybe it just gets to be a lot.
It sounds as though my son and your daughter are very similar. Will is GATE and excels in math and science too!! When the teacher mentioned if I had taken Will to the eye doctor, I said yes as he had glasses for reading so I initially discounted the fact that it could be something with vision. Luckily the place I took him too specialized in vision therapy. Apparently it is hereditary as my Dad later told us that he had to do eye exercises as a child and my niece also had to go through vision therapy. Will also struggled on those comprehensive tests. I really would just try and audio book with reading the book and see if that helps. I know every child is different. Hope it was ok that I butted in but I know how frustrating it can be trying to help your child and navigate through school.
Feel free to butt in, anytime! I like feedback. Us Moms have to help each other out, it takes a village and all that. I will definitely bring it up at her doctor appointment. Better safe than regret it later on.
So it is the comprehension. I still will read things out loud to myself, for work or trainings, it is a good learning technique.
Isn’t it weird how you can “read” something but at the end of the page realize you didnt take anything in?
Yep, still have trouble focusing myself sometimes. Omg, last night though, I’m calling it a dumb blonde moment bc sometimes, she just says the most ridiculous things. I know she knows, but I swear. For example, earlier this year she asked me while there were old music videos on tv, in black and white,
She says, “was there ever black and white back then?”
“Yea, it used to only be black and white. And before that there was no tv. And before that, radio, and before that….
“No. Like, the world”
So, you see what I’m dealing with?🤦♀️ It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes. *shakes head* Anyway, last night we’re going over vocab or something and talking about nonfiction books, text features, what she likes, I dk. But she says yea, I like what we’re reading and it’s nonfiction. I look at her like, are you joking? You’re joking. (This is a spy book, people.) And she’s like yea, FBI is real and stuff.
I was just flabbergasted. I said, and you think a mule is outrunning these horses and clearing fences?!! And then she says some of the I Survived series she likes is real bc tsunamis and stuff happened for real. !!!! I had a long conversation with her about it, but I tell you.
Honestly, I’m hoping just a dumb blonde moment bc I thought, girl, I hope you’re not farther off than I imagined.
Um, I just asked a stupid question at work today. I realized it as soon as I asked it …..but still.
Also, didnt you recently have a moment of not knowing if a book you loved was fiction or nonfiction?
I dont think any of us are immune. Just as long as we can laugh at ourselves.
Hey, this is true!! Omg, I didn’t realize. 🤣🤣 Maybe we’re more alike than I thought. Thanks Bev! *snort*
I still had to be clear how to differentiate between the two, just in case. Can’t have her wondering if the WWII stuff she’ll be reading, for example, is fiction or just fiction based on factual events OR indeed, true nonfiction.
I would’ve figured it out though, had I gotten much further. LOL
OMGOSH. Y’all. I couldn’t sleep last night so I read Perfect Strangers by JT Geissinger. I went in completely blind & OMGosh. Soooo many feels. I. Just. Woah. Have y’all read this?? If you haven’t read this, DOOO IT. BUT DONT read the blurb or anything. & read the whole book. Trust. I stopped at first bc of all the feels (if you’ve read, you KNOW) but after a short break I finished & OMGosh. Well done!
Diana!!! HECK YES I read it!!!! HOLY MOLY was my reaction too. Just plain AWESOME and so clever!! 😀 I reviewed it too.
Reading it now!
Loved that book. On my list this year for sure
I agree with Susan. Mercy. The All the Kings Men Duet has become one of my favorite reads this year. This story line had it all! When an author can combine social justice issues with a riveting slow burn romance?? Yes please and more!!
YAY LISA!!!!! I’m going to add your recommendation to the post. 😀
I borrowed this on my KU but I had to buy it for my library. One author made the comment that this is the future of Romance. I pray it’s so!! ✨📚✨
The duet was one of my favorite reads for the year. The story will stay with you.
Hi Maryse, a couple of new adds I found. Scott Hildreth has a new MC series. The first book is called Thug. I have enjoyed his previous MC Series. Also Rachel Robinson has a new book (I may have missed it on your Tuesday list) but it is called Never Always.
OH YAY!!! I’ll add them in now. 😀 Thank you Kathy!
BTW, Rachel’s sounds SO fun. She’s reclusive & he’s a bully ex Navy seal? MINE!!!!
Finished enemies by Tijan yesterday. Loved it. I’ve been in a book slump and this one got me out of it. Not sure what I should read next. I started the second book in the king duet series but stopped midway through. Thinking I will go back to it now.
The one by Kennedy Ryan?
Yep!
Sneaking in to remind everyone that JA Redmerski’s Killing Sarai ( In The Company of Killers) is out in theatres today. If you haven’t read this series you are so missing out. I’m going to see it this weekend!
Ok, has anyone started the new series, V Wars, on Netflix? It stars Ian Somerholder and I just watched episode 1. Holy cow, what a start to a new series!!! So good, binge able for sure. I’m going to try and pace myself, but ugh! I want to keep going.
I haven’t seen it but Grey posted a video of him reading Vampire Diaries fanfic (in prep for this series) in my group tonight and I lost my damn mind! I love him!!!
I saw that, that’s what reminded me it was on so I swung over to Netflix. Way different than Vampire Diaries. I watched episode 2 bc I am weak. But, I must sleep. Busy weekend. This feels like just what I was looking for though. I watched Lea Michelle’s Xmas movie last night on ABC and I was so let down/bored. I just don’t think I’m in the mood for cheesy Xmas movies right now and thought, I need something darker. Something to really sink my teeth into <- you’ll see what I did there 😉.
Yep, I read Enemies too. Classic Tijan. I enjoyed it. I’m needing more bully books, gimme ALL of them. There’s a couple up there that have my attention. I really want to read Queen of Nothing, I’ll like eleventy million twelve on the waiting list at my library. *insert massive eye roll here* I’m on the book buying ban until Christmas, so I’m trying to behave myself.
Keep your eyes peeled…um, I may have some inside intel that The Guy on the Left will be dropping very soon…
So how is everyone????
Eeeeeeeep!!! And I love Kate and the first book so many went crazy for.
And The Guy on the Left is live, Maryse…enjoy!!!
I watched a couple eps of the new Virgin River series on Netflix. Based on the Robyn Carr books. I like it so far. Seems very much like the books from what I can remember. (I only read 2 or 3 of them I think). Sweet romance and pretty scenery. Nice.
I’m going to give this Netflix series a go! I’ve been looking for something new to watch.
Great Deal!! If you are a Devney Perry fan or want to read Devney Perry she has a Mason Jar Box Set for $1.99 which has The Birthday List and Letters to Molly. Definitely worth it!
Not that I have been on there, but just so everyone knows i just deleted my goodreads account.
So only fake Bev remains? 😉 *snort*
Yep, only fake Bev, lol.
Maybe I’ll join up again…..someday. But right now I just dont use it at all. 🤷♀️
So in 2020 foing back to the good old days of paper and pen to keep track of my reading if I keep track at all.
Please don’t stop visiting us here, though bev!!!
Oh, I won’t. I wish everyone else would show up more often too.
