Untouchable: A Bully Romance by Sam Mariano <— BULLY BOOK ALERT!!! Tessa is LOSING HER MIND over this one!!!
Tessa: Untouchable by Sam Mariano… GAH! This book! GAH! THIS is why the best of 2018 is waiting until the end. It’s so good and evil and OMG, I want to punch him and adore him and GAH! He reminds me of Mateo in all the bad and good ways.
Jean: I love seeing you excited over a book Tessa! And this one sounded like it was so you!!
Tessa: …OMG Mind mess jerk, right? If you like this, I’d recommend her mob stories.
bev: Lol. Tessa isn’t it fun to find something that gets us that worked up and happy?
Tessa: YESSSS! I finished it because I couldn’t stop reading it. HOT (seriously hot) but more than that, he’s such a jerk and everything that happens with the angst… my type of book. I want more of their story, even if it was a standalone.
Nothing Personal: A Standalone Romantic Comedy by Karina Halle <— KARINA HALLE ALERT!!! SINGLE DAD/ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS ALERT!! He broke her heart once, and now he’s up for the position SHE deserves! “…New in town and on her turf, Kessler promises he’s not the same man he was – and considering he’s now a single father to a precocious toddler, he’s telling the truth. But he’s still an arrogant and devilishly charming man who’s taking over the position Nova feels she deserves...”
- Riven: A Novel (Riven Series Book 1) by Roan Parrish <— M/M ROMANCE ALERT!! Michelle S thinks it’s HOT!!!
MichelleS: Is it weird that a m/m has me all flustered? I find myself skipping over sex scenes usually, but I’m reading every word of this one. I’m a gay man trapped in a woman’s body? Ha! Or maybe I’m just a straight woman & TWO men are just double the sexiness? Whatever… this book is working for me.
The Promise of Stardust: A Novel by Priscille Sibley <— Amy LOVED it!
Amy: A Promise of Stardust was such a good read. As y’all know, I don’t connect well with male-only POV books, but that one worked for me as much as one of those could. I knew it was either going to end up sad or straight up heart wrenching, and not knowing which it was going to be kept me glued to it.
- Tripping on a Halo by Alessandra Torre <— HUGE TWIST ALERT!!! Theresa read this recent release and she says:
Theresa: Just finished Alessandra Torre’s Tripping On a Halo. It started out a bit funky story line, a bit slow, it did have a huge twist at the end.
The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air Book 1) by Holly Black <— BULLY BOOK ALERT!!! Tessa (our resident bully-lover – along with Grey 😉 ) recommends this one!
Tessa: FAE! BULLY! FANTASY WORLD! So, just pure catnip written really well with an awesome plotline….if you love those Holly Black, you have to read Cruel Prince, unless a bully is something you detest. 🙂
Tessa: …Best YA fantasy was Cruel Prince. *swoons* EVERYTHING I love in a book, including a huge bully. 🙂
Right Where I Want You by Jessica Hawkins <— LIVE!!! THE LATEST BY JESSICA HAWKINS ALERT!! “Bad boys? They run right over good girls like Georgina Keller. But after a confidence-shattering breakup, she’s determined not to let anyone at her new workplace push her around—least of all the brooding creative director, a “bad boy of publishing” who’s made it clear she’s enemy #1…”
- Ringing in the New Year by Alexa Riley <— ALEXA RILEY’S LATEST IS LIVE!!! SHE WAS IN A CULT… “…Cami Evans fell in love with the boy next door when she was seven years old. They spent their whole lives falling for one another until one day she’s taken from him. She spends five years with her father in a cult until she’s able to make her escape and find her way back to Reed…”

The only reason we put up with each other is because we share the same best friend. Then, everything suddenly changes when Max is involved in a horrific accident that sets him back three years. He remembers his friends, but here’s the real kicker: He doesn’t remember … me…” <— GASP!!!
And then the blurb gets EVEN BETTER!!!!!

Book #2 in a trilogy that must be read in order, and I get a kick out of the author’s warning! Eeeep! “Tamed is the heart-stopping continuation of the dark romance, Taken. The Fortunate Ones by R.S. Grey <— MEATY CHARACTERS & GOOD STORYLINE ALERT!! 😉 Jan recommends it!
Jan: The Fortunate Ones by R.S Grey. I just finished it actually. It’s good. …IMO one of her better books. Good meaty characters (oops, that sounds weird LOL) OK, good, interesting characters. Good storyline. It’s a bit angsty for me but I still liked it. Worth checking out if you haven’t read it. Especially if you’ve got ku
- Bird Box: A Novel by Josh Malerman <— STILL ON SALE!!! I LOVE IT!!! BOTH THE BOOK & THE NETFLIX MOVIE!!! Ooooh I like the movie intro to Bird Box better than the book-intro, actually. It’s INSANE and chaotic and intense and stressful and SO SCARY!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE how they did that. But the book is just as fascinating from the very beginning and will keep you ON EDGE!!!

Matt (Texas Rascals Book 2) by Lori Wilde <— DEPUTY SHERIFF & THE SINGLE MOM ALERT!!! “...Savannah’s busy days were filled with single-handedly raising a toddler and running her ranch. I fought for everything I have. My entire life revolves around making sure my shop succeeds. Nothing distracts me. I live and breathe for this shop. I don’t have time for love. That’s why I never expected to feel this way about finding the sexiest man alive in a bakery with flour on his cheek…”
- Extra Innings by Jess Bryant & Maren Lee <— LIVE!! BASEBALL STAR ALERT!!
Dane’s Storm by Mia Sheridan <— STRANDED AFTER A PLANE CRASH ALERT!!! Jean loved it (and I’m thrilled ’cause I want to read it so bad!!!! Totally my thing)
Jean: I had the whole day to myself yesterday. So what did I do? Read a book! Dane’s Storm by Mia Sheridan……LOVED IT! Stranded after a plane crash with her ex-husband!!!

Watching You: A Novel by Lisa Jewell <— OHHHHH PSYCH-THRILLER ALERT!! This one is totally calling me!!! Everyone is watching and noticing… things that have to do with this teacher… “…One of Tom’s students, Jenna Tripp, also lives on the same street, and she’s not convinced her teacher is as squeaky clean as he seems. For one thing, he has taken a particular liking to her best friend and fellow classmate, and Jenna’s mother—whose mental health has admittedly been deteriorating in recent years—is convinced that Mr. Fitzwilliam is stalking her…”

The Dating Alternative by Jennifer Woodhull <— LIVE!!! SEXY SWEET-SOUNDING COMEDY ROMANCE ALERT!! Her fiancé was dating someone else… “…There are some great things about being single. Going without… you know, s-e-x… isn’t one of them. My friends are trying to convince me that there’s an app for that, but it’s not working out so well. There is this one guy I’ve always sort of flirted with, though. For the first time since I’ve known him, we’re single at the same time. I’m so not ready to jump into another relationship, but maybe it’s time to find out if this friends-with-benefits thing can really work…”
To Have It All by B.N. Toler <— JENNIFER CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT AND LOVED IT!
Jennifer: I also want to say that I am not much for a paranormal read….but I like to read one here and there. I had a book on my TBR that I would always look at and dismiss…
Than awesome Grey with her TBR challenge for Ugly book cover happened and I chose that because well the cover is awful.
BUT HOLY HELL GUYS-if you have not read “to have it all” by BN Toler you need to. I actually started this last week but did not read beyond the first chapter. Picked it back up yesterday and just started from the beginning and completed it in less than 24 hours.
I went to bed thinking about it, woke up thinking about it and even though I was at work could not focus on that till I finished.
I may have picked this book for it’s UGLY cover (and by the way the cover is PERFECT as once you read the story it makes so much sense) but there is nothing UGLY about this story. Definitely 5 stars for me!
AUDIOBOOK L VERS!
For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>
R: Renee …My new obsession with audio books continues. I’m now finding things to do around the house just so I’ll have an excuse to “read.” Not that there’s ever a lack of things to do. I just don’t usually do them.
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <—
This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!
Dark Notes by Pam Godwin <— Rochelle recommends!!
Rochelle: Wanted to put a plug in for Dark Notes… Audible has the five star listen. When you start you can’t stop. This is one of these books we are always looking for or the book you don’t want to end.

Good morning! Happy, happy Friday!!!
Good morning.
So now know the bed hog does not like the sound of recycling being picked up.
But does like to give kisses. Lots and lots. Especially after I’ve put stuff on my face. I think because some of my products smell like ginseng and forest.
Good morning! My dog loves to lick my face after I put on lotion. I think she’s trying to clean it OFF. Ha!
Ooh. I see Cruel Prince up there. I loved that one. Almost put it on my best of list, but was determined to try to stick to just ten.
MichelleS, stick to just 10? Pfft! 😛 It was such a good book. 🙂
*Saying this in both posts* Julie O – For Sam Mariano’s mob books, start with Accidental Witness. It’s the first of the series. It’s the only “high school” one, but it sets the tone for the whole series, especially my favorite of the series, Surviving Mateo.
Oops, meant Resisting Mateo, not surviving. Surviving wasn’t the insane one.
Happy friday! Visiting family and was going for a run, but it is pouring. So now time to read! 🙂
bev, I bet it’s because you just smell naturally sweet! 😉
Sounds like a perfect day Cheryl!! 😉
MichelleS you know I’m now going to add that one to your “Best of 2018” list right? After that comment. 😉
I’ll take it, lol.
MichellS, so she is not alone, lol. I try to keep it to a minimum on my face. I figure good for the psyche not the skin.
I am LOVING Untouchable…
Hard to believe this is the last weekend of 2018?!?! Wow, where did this year go??
Do you all have any 2018 favourites other than books?
Activities, products, foods, or ?
Grey–this year FLEW by!
bev–I’m trying to think of any 2018 faves, and for me, it seems like it’s been a year with fewer trends in the things I enjoy–books and food. I feel like the past 10 years were filled with SO many widespread book trends, like zombies, dystopian, vamps, shifters, steampunk, alphas, bullies, bdsm, mommy porn, billionaires, the new adult genre, plus so many others. With food, there was a major breakthrough for chefs, restaurants, bakeries, and food competitions, and it seemed like chefs and bakers were constantly trying to one-up each other with the newest, coolest food trend. But in 2018, those things seemed to have finally leveled off a bit. I still love watching all my food competitions (especially the British and Aussie ones), but they’ve lost a bit of their luster.
Ooh! I thought of something. My favorite thing to do at home is spend time with Waylon, my grandbaby who just turned 4 months old, and my favorite thing to do out on the town with hubs is go to Pancho and Lefty’s Cantina before we go across the street to a Predators game. So. Much. Fun!
Found a fantastic dark Thriller called Dark Inheritance, it’s pretty intense and right up my alley! I highly recommend it, it’s by PB Lawson, pblawson.com has a great introduction there on his page. So good!
Jennifer…I absolutely LOVED To Have It All when I first read it! So much that I had to read Toler’s other books. Where One Goes and What Lies Between is an AMAZING duo that is a MUST read! BN Toler hooks me in every time with her style of paranormal.
Just to be warned….I UGLY cried….and my heart was TORN. But it was definitely an emotional ride that I would take again and again!
Maryse under your “Kindle Unlimited Membership Deal” for a year when you click on that link, it says 6 months instead of a year. I thought I would let you know. Thanks for all you do, and have a Happy New Year!
Nay, I just got Netflix and I keep thinking of continuing with The Great British Baking Show. I watched the first season on YouTube. Also they have like UK version of House Hunters. I love that stuff, lol.
bev some other favs of mine from 2018 were:
– the film A Star is Born. Loved it.
– I’ve discovered the joy of boutique honey – it’s soooooo much better than supermarket honey. I was given a tiny bottle for a Christmas gift and it’s super yum. It’s spoiled me for ordinary honey now.
– earlier this year hubs and I finally finished all the Longmire series on Netflix (there’s a few of them). A rare show that we BOTH liked just as much LOL.
– I’ve been reading a few ‘popular history’ type books about famous people from history – from kings and queens of England to Hollywood stars from the early 20th century etc etc. What some of those famous people got up to – PHEW!! Truth is stranger (and wilder) than fiction.
D.G-Yes yes yes-Where one goes and what lies between I also read-those were actually the first books I’ve ever read of hers and I LOVED them! Oh and I ugly cried too. Such unforgettable reads!
Jan, I still have to watch the last season of Longmire.
A few of my favorites.
Tiam vitamin c serum. Strong, but think it actually makes my skin brighter and smoother.
Sulwhasoo products that I have as samples or bought on sale. Just the sensory experience of how good it feels and smells.
Haribo candy. Of course been eating them since….forever? But the best gummies and what I’ve been craving this year.
Ask Me About Kpop podcast. I love a good podcast and found this new one right after I fell into kpop. It’s fun because it is two best friends talking about what they love.
Dramabeans website. I need somewhere to rant and rave, lol. Plus people like to post photos of Gong Yoo, lol.
Devacurl conditioner and gel. I keep coming back to them. I’m actually trying something new right now, but I love the smell and how it doesn’t build up I can just rinse it out. Not the strongest hold but i get a few good hours.
My husband binge-watched all the seasons of Longmire and absolutely loved it!
Bev–I adore The Great British Bake-Off! I’ve watched every season and have watched the Aussie, Kiwi, South African, Irish, and any other versions I can find.
I’m with you Jan “A Star Is Born” definitely a fave of 2018 for me too I can’t wait to watch the academy awards and oscars as they are both nominated! Oh and Bradley Cooper is actually nominated for more Grammys than Taylor Swift which I find unbelievable since he is really not a singer you know? Oh but he is! God I could go on and on about that movie-just loved it!
Another fave new hobby for me in 2018 is I started making Xmas centerpieces using wine bottles my MOM, step mom and mother in law were my gunniea pigs and honestly they all thought I bought them ♥️ So now in 2019 I have lots more wine drinking just so I can keep making them
I am asking for some prayers as I just found out that one of my dogs furry friends was diagnosed with cancer today and it’s not good at all! Her name is Abby-She is our neighbor. I spoke to them and they are planning to put her down this week once all the family says there goodbyes. My dogs and I will go over tomorrow to visit and say our goodbyes
Bev – some of my 2018 non-book favorites are: A Star is Born, Nordic Gnomes, IT Cosmetics CC foundation, Lacey cookies from Costco, eyelash serum (just discovered it this year), Chris Stapleton, making flatbread, charcuterie boards, and Ozark on Netflix.
I ended my year reading “Waiting For The Sun” Robin Hill and wow! I am in awe! Such a breath of fresh air this was for me! I literally am still walking around with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes remembering certain moments and just these 4 words… you know get me right in the heart! *“Baby….I met someone!”* I absolutely loved it…..so beautiful! Definitely will be on my very first best list I’m making and sending your way Maryse…..soon
Jenn–sounds like Waiting For the Sun affected you the same way it affected me! I thought it was amazing!
Miraculously, I’ve also been working on my Best Books of 2018 list. I have it all on paper–just hoping to get it edited today.
Lol. I wrote mine on paper first too, but didnt edit.
I need to open a tab with you Nay. I can send all my comments to you to polish and then pay up at the end of the year.
MichelleS you are making me hungry with your list. What does a lash serum do? Make them longer?
Jenn!!! I just saw your review!!! Thank you! I’m so happy you liked it! ♥
Yes, Bev, it makes them grow longer & fuller. I think it’s mostly castor oil. I even bought the off brand from Amazon, called Rapidlash. It worked. Took about 5 weeks. But now I put it on every night. And people noticed. Winner!
I’m writing my best and um… it’s more than 10… by a lot. *blushes* Too many good books this year.
Oh, I like this even if it goes surprisingly violent at the end.
https://youtu.be/16QbCoxLNkI
Tessa, I dont think I even hit 10. I’m glad you had a good year.
Maryse, just sent my favorites. 🙂
I made Maryse’s pot roast at 4am this morning! I was lazy so I threw the carrots in with it (skipped potatoes). Like those much better roasted separately, but the mushrooms!!! I added whole mushrooms and they are divine!
At 4am, R???? It sounds yum, though 😉
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I just found it. The Idea of You by Robinne Lee is going to be a feature film! I can’t wait to see who they pick to play Hayes!
https://deadline.com/2018/12/the-idea-of-you-gabrielle-union-everything-must-go-transfers-female-projects-welle-entertainment-slate-cathy-schulman-jeff-gaspin-1202523033/?fbclid=IwAR0NybdGmvRXc5m9c_xPdT-6t46W_9NLMj7o_sIGmDucp3_IzWT7p8kmwuw
R when do you sleep? You need one of those weighted blankets to keep you laying down.
Bev, is there any romance in The Dresden Files?
Intriguing, Nay. I personally didn’t like the book (though I know many loved it) cos the age gap was too much for me to accept as romantic or sexy. It felt too much like a yummy mummy running around with one of her son’s mates Yeah I know she didn’t have any sons, but I’ve got three and for me it was just too weird. I also found the h weak and indecisive. But still. I’ll keep an open mind about the film. As you say, so much would depend on casting.
Tasha in my memory the dresden files is uf rather than pnr. But I could be wrong. It’s a while since I read them.
Tasha, I never kept up with the series and it’s been so long now. I would say no. I did ship our two leads, there is a female detective he sometimes works with, but I am a shipper at heart and I can’t remember how much chemistry there really was.
I believe Harry had a relationship with another character, but I dont remember the romance being very central though the relationship had effect on the story.
Definitely more UF/mystery.
How it ended up I dont know. I should get back to them some day.
Ok, thanks. I don’t need for it it to be paranormal, per se, they’re kind of all the same in my book. Supernatural. I just wanted a hint of something.
Honestly, I feel completely scattered when it comes to reading. Must be school break messing with my mojo. I’m all off kilter. So, Dresden Files sounds good to start, but then long series overwhelm me. And Bird Box, I started a few pages and it turned out it wasn’t my day to read. And then I think, Jewel E. Ann has a new one coming out, oh! I will read the next one in her Jack and Jill series. I’m dying to know what happens! Oh, I own another book that seems like it’ll be different, maybe good, reads a page, gets sidetracked- hours later thinks through what other books I already have, need to get, new releases I wanna read now, gets sidetracked. I can’t seem to grasp anything.
I decided. Ringing in the new year with Jewel E. Ann’s Middle of Knight. I’ve been reading all morning! 😀
A cup of coffee and list of books to come are NOT a good combo for me.
I put way to many on preorder. I did this last year and still haven’t read them. So mo more. It goes against my 2019 goals.
Though when I forget and they surprisingly pop up will I regret it?
I think not.
bev, thank you for finding a way to use our favourite phrase. Did anyone think we’d forgotten about ?
I think not.
Everytime we say it an Amy gets her wings.
What is everyone reading ?
I’m reading A Court of Ice and Wind (War of the Gods Book 3) by Meg Xuemei X. It’s book three in a reverse harem series with gods, vampires, fae, shifters, mages, and stuffs. The heroine is nutty. 🙂
That sounds like fun.
I just cleaned out my currently reading on GR to start fresh in the New Year.
I’m still reading Starfish. I’m just reading slow, but I like it. One of those ones were I don’t (so far) feel the compulsion to always pick it up, but one that when I do before I know it I’ve read 2 or 3 chapters.
It’s cute. She’s very narcissistic and is all about beating up the bad guys.
I’m halfway through with Good Gone Bad by Giana Darling, but as soon as Jewel Ann’s new book, A Place Without You, is live, I’m switching to that for the buddy read on GR.
Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful New Years Eve!!
I have my hangover breakfast items and Bloody Mary mix ready as well as all of the traditional foods for New Years Day. So, while I’m recovering tomorrow I can catch up on posts and finally make my best of 2018 list. Finally.
Actually, bev…every time someone uses that phrase, I get more feathers in MY wings.
But do I have enough feathers yet?
I think not.
Drink water! 😛
Mmm mmm. Jewel E. Ann knows how to write men. *fans self* I love all of her male characters. And Jillian and Jack’s relationship simultaneously make me laugh and melt. Jill’s still bada** too!
I woke up this morning and bought donuts, all because I saw them on the internet and they looked yummy. New Years sprinkles and all. And there were plenty left bc apparently everyone else is snug in their beds this morning. And I ate one- no one else is up- and now I’m feeling like https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fWALVlpbpDA
Omg I’m reading Untouchable and I just don’t know! It all feels so wrong! I don’t think I’ve ever read such a dark romance.
Oooooh Ashley… I’m intrigued!! Do tell… 😉
It’s sooooooo bad! Omg you’re gonna need to read it. There really isn’t anything I can say to do it justice. It’s such a good book but also not?? It’s the strangest feeling I’ve ever had after reading a “romance” book. I so want to like Carter but…
